Good, not great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I live in area where we are just out of range of some stations we really like. Since they are available on the internet on iheart radio or their own apps, an internet radio is the perfect solution. I debated on which unit to get and settled on the SoundTouch 20. My plan was to buy several units and place them around the house to create a whole house sound system. I especially like the fact that they are Apple AirPlay ready. The setup was easy and the sound is fantastic. The unit is discrete enough to place almost anywhere. The app makes setup easy but I found the functionality somewhat limited. I like the speed of changing channels using the presets and the fact that it can access my music library over the network. The unit does not support the new Apple Music service or Amazon Prime but I hope that will be coming in a software update. I would really like to see a Sirius/XM internet option too. I can understand having only six presets on the unit but there is no reason there couldn't be 20 - 30 or more in the App. I'm disappointed that the unit doesn't support Bluetooth for input or output for a remote speaker. I would really like to have a Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom linked to a SoundTouch or Wave SoundTouch in the bedroom. An optional Bluetooth subwoofer would really make the system a killer. All in all, it's a great system but it falls short in a couple areas, not something I was expecting from Bose. I'm sure I will buy a few more units, but I think I'll wait.

Pros: Easy setup and great sound. It plays internet radio stations and networked music well. Clean lines and discrete enough to fit almost anywhere. Thats it. Integrates well with new Bose soundbar and home theater systems. Could be an integral part of a whole home sound system with a few improvements.

Cons: Limited functionality of the App. No Bluetooth input. No Bluetooth output. Presets limited to six in the App. No Support for Apple Music, Amazon Prime or Sirius/XM.

Wonderful product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have three of these in my home, in addition to a Wave Soundtouch. Setup was easy and the sound is spectacular. I currently have iHeart radio and Pandora streaming, along with my iTunes music collection and several world radio stations added to the mix. Bose seems to update these regularly and keeps adding services. Sound is great and it's nice to wander through the house and have the music wherever I go. I also enjoy being able to control the entire setup with my iPhone via the app. A nice feature is having different systems stream different music. We use this especially in our Master or office, where we can have quieter music playing if the situation dictates that. Crutchfield was fast and efficient in their service, too!

Pros: Great sound. Regular updates. New, updated setup is streamlined, quick, easy, and accurate. I don't really want outdoor speakers, so it's nice to just unplug one of these units and take it on the patio, plug it in, and have great music outside for get-togethers, etc., then take it back inside when done. Units really pull in the wi-fi signal. Some devices will show two bars on our patio and these will still be showing 4 and I've never had an issue w interrupted streaming. Units well built!

Cons: Pricey and, they could have a little more volume. You get what you pay for; however....and these should last a long time!

Wireless Addition

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have several pieces of Sonos gear with a connect. The main stereo receiver provides the signal to the connect. Occasionally the speakers lose connection with the connect. I even tried a UPS on the connect-no fix!. So it was time to try something else. This Bose speaker can work all by itself. It has six pre set buttons and a remote control that is very nice. Sound is good, enough volume.

Pros: The infrared remote control, the six preset buttons. The ability to connect on it's own to Internet Radio. I am using Pandora 1. Nice size.

Cons: I can't get the thumbs up & down to work, either on the device or the iPad app. I wish they would tell you what kind of drivers and how many are in the box.

Very Easy. You download the app. In my case it was an iPad. It finds the device on your Wi-Fi network. I use Pandora and set up some of my stations to the six preset buttons. The best part is the included remote control. It does it all, unlike my Sonos gear, where you need a tablet or phone to control it. [ FRANCIS  Dec 07, 2014 ]
