BLT 370 Bluetooth

Gene from Arroyo Grande on 1/26/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was not hard to install and works great.

Pros: works great once you get it set up.

Cons: This is my second one. The first one only lasted a couple of years before it did not work.

Inconsistent with Iphone and CMD6

Jim from Littleton, CO on 7/12/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My iPhone and this blue tooth adapter don't seem to get along with my Marine CMD6. They "forget" that they know each other. I have had two iPhones talking to this unit, but it seems like it only likes one device in range at a time. I have had to pair them on mutiple occasions. The documentation is no help in this matter. It is really nice when it works, but I also question the fidelity of bluetooth, at least in my boat.

Not a bad product

rick from Las Vegas on 6/13/2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was a snap. The light is a little on the bright side but tolerable. The only downside is the volume in which I have to speak is high and quite annoying. I do have a jeep wrangler Hardtop (YJ) which is part of the issue. People on the other end say I sound like I'm in a can. The device works in harmony with the Clarion deck I bought (CZ100) and the deck is more than nice for the $$. All in all, the device is not a bad product.

Works Good

Chris from New Jersey on 12/30/2009

At first, i thought it sucked, then realized the owners manual to my VX409 was basically wrong. there are no blue imput wires, i had it hooked up to the black aux in wires and only got sound out of the rear speakers. I decided to hook them up to the red wires and now it works GREAT. Volume control finally ! and the speaker i want to hear out of works. Mic placement is crutial though, i decided to velcro it to the dash as im a smoker and the visor dosent sound good to the person your speaking to. From what im told its only slightly noticable that im handsfree but can be heard crystal clear even at speed w window open. would have liked to see more options though like caller id on display, voice activation etc, the parrots can do it why cant clarion. Overall very happyw this product.

You've got to be kidding?

moparchris from OK on 10/19/2009

This thing is terrible. I wont even mention the poor audio quality, dropped calls, the times that it locked up my Clarion DUZ385 & I had to turn off my truck & open the door to get it working again. I surly won't mention the fact that the audio connector goes into the front of the Clarion radio, or the fact that the buttons don't always work the first time you press them. No, the thing that really bugs me is that when you install it on your visor so you can reach it, it has the brightest blue flashing LED known to man. If you are driving at night this thing will BLIND you. I had to cover it up with black tape. Save your money & your sanity & avoid this and the DUZ385 also for wireless phones.

Great Add-on

Worth it after a mod to head unit

tim from CT on 3/4/2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works well, like it a lot. The built in microphone works perfectly in my car, Honda civic si 02, it is extremely clear on both sides. The only down fall is the Aux port for my clarion 385USB was in the front, so i modified it, soldered in some RCA connectors to the rear, so i didn't have to have the wires wrap around to the front. Works amazing, and well worth it, after the mod.

BLT370- A little warbly

acpitt from San Fransisco, CA on 8/26/2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation is easy if you install your own car stereo. Best to do it at the same time to avoid pulling out and reinstalling. I could hear the calls clearly, but the other end of the line not so clear. No matter where I positioned the microphone, I sounded underwater to whomever I called. Maybe it's the acoustics of my car. You may want to test call before final installation.

Overview: The Clarion BLT370 is a hands-free car kit featuring Bluetooth wireless technology that allows you to utilize your Clarion headunit and car's built-in audio system for wireless music streaming and wireless hands-free communication from your mobile phone.

Compatibility: The Clarion BLT370 Bluetooth Interface supports Bluetooth's version 1.2 and is compatible with any Clarion radio that features an auxiliary input and a telephone interrupt function. The BLT370 is currently compatible with all 2007-up Clarion headunits that feature the TEL and AUX function. Visit the Clarion website for phone compatibility.

Bluetooth Wireless Technology: The Bluetooth wireless technology enables voice and data to be sent via a short-distant digital radio link up to approximately 33 feet. As such, it extends the wireless communication possibilities for mobile phones and hundreds of electronic devices and ensures crisp, static-free audio performance. The BLT370 is compatible with most Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, including the Apple iPhone. It  supports the following Bluetooth wireless technology profiles.

  • HFP/HSP: Wireless hands-free and headset communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone
  • A2DP/AVRCP: Wireless stereo music streaming and remote control functions (start/play/stop/pause/volume/track search) from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone

Bluetooth Transceiver: The BLT370 Transceiver unit is used to receive audio signals via Bluetooth wireless technology from other Bluetooth enabled devices and stream them to you car's audio system. The Bluetooth module consists of a built-in microphone, external microphone 2.5mm input, Blue/Red LED window, Answer/Playback buttons, volume controls and a Left/Right audio switch. The module has an attached 8.5' cord which features a stereo RCA auxiliary output, a 12-volt power wire (with an LC box attached), a ground wire, and a Tele-interrupt wire. The power and ground wires connect to your car's 12-volt source's power and ground connections; the Tele-interrupt wire connects to your car stereo's telephone mute lead; the RCA auxiliary output plugs into your headunit's auxiliary input via RCA or miniplug (using the supplied RCA to minijack adapter). The Bluetooth module comes with a visor-clip to mount it to your driver side sun-visor (the internal microphone should be facing towards the user when installed).

Acoustic Echo Cancellation: The advanced built-in DSP-base Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) system is capable of handling full-duplex communication, echo cancellation, and noise suppression on the microphone input to enable smooth hands-free communication and clear speech.

Calls: When making a call you will still use your mobile phone's keypad to dial out. Once you press the "Send" button your phone becomes connected with the BLT370 Transceiver and your car's stereo system will be muted so you can begin your wireless conversation using the BLT370's built-in microphone to speak through and your vehicle's speakers to hear the other person. During an incoming call, a ringing tone will be heard through your vehicle's speakers and your music will be muted. The unit's red/blue LED will blink quickly during an incoming call until you answer by simply pressing the "Green" answer button on the BLT370. Any music playing will be temporarily muted until the call is ended or rejected by pressing the "Red" call-end button. You can simply reject an incoming call without answering it by pressing the "Red" call-end button on the unit while your phone is ringing. You can also transfer calls between the BLT370 and your mobile phone in a case where you want more privacy on the phone.

Music Streaming And Playback Control: The BLT370 supports wireless music streaming for transferring stereo music audio data that is processed as a steady and continuous audible stream from your Bluetooth enabled phone to your Clarion headunit and car's audio system. You can listen to and control music stored on your phone. The BLT370 lets you control the following playback functions from your Bluetooth compatible phone - Play, Pause, Stop, Track Search. You can adjust the speaker volume during music streaming between 19 different volume levels to match your other source's volume through your car's audio system.
