Does not last

John from Maryland on 5/12/2010

Bought these as a replacement set of speaker for my 392 Motoryacht and these did not last 3 seasons. All dry rotted and blown. The speakers are enclosed by canvas all year around and are not worth the money. I would expect them to last longer than 3 seasons. This includes the sub woofer to.

Don't waste your money

Rum Runner from Lake Ozark on 6/8/2009

These speakers don't hold up!!!!!! I've been replacing everyone of them in my 2003 Baja. One by one they are all going out. 4 are already replaced over the past 2 years. The last 2 fell apart this winter. Spend your money on something worth buying, this isn't it.

Cones GONE!

Mickey from Fort Lauderdale, FL on 3/17/2008

I have 6 of these speakers that were factory installed in my 3070 Offshore Express. The 4 outside speakers have been shot for a year - I finally got around to removing them for replacement. The white plastic cones were shredded to bits - mostly gone. The remaining cone pieces were fragile and crumbled easily when touched.

I just purchased a new Clarion CMD5 and came close to buying new Clarion speakers for replacements. I'm glad I didn't!

Whatever material they used for the speaker cones in 2003 deteriorates in a marine environment.

The speakers inside the cabin are still working well, but they're not exactly in a marine environment, being in an enclosed cabin.

not the best

cliffjumper120 from NC on 7/18/2006

I have a boat that is 3 years old. I have 6 clarions 2 in the bow and 4 in the stern. the 2 in the front are powered by the clarion stereo. The 4 in the back are run off of a clarion APX480M and they sound so so but the front two distort terribly and are blown. I also have 4 polk momo mmc650 tower speakers and they sound amazing. So if ur going to get a marine speaker dont waste your money on the clarions for 120 when u can get the polks for only 50 dollars more and u wont have to replace them

Cons:

An extremely bullet-proof speaker

Jimmy from Lake Ozark, MO on 6/21/2006

I have these speakers in two of my boats. The boats are now three years old and one year old and the speakers look and sound like they did the day I bought them. I can't tell you how many times the grilles have been kicked or had a ski slide into them. No breaks or cracks.

The sound is very good, not audiophile by any means, but they are very efficient.

In one of my boats I also have the 10" Clarion sub and an APX480M amp. Taking the low end frequencies out of these speakers and amplifying them really brings out their true colors. I highly recommend the amp as well, but the sub is too "tight." It is almost pecky.

All in all, this is one heck or a marine speaker.
Pros:

Cons:

last omly 3 years

Lawrence from jupiter,florida on 5/27/2006

I have these (1622) on my Sundancer 410.
After 3 years they are shot. The heat in the semi-enclosed bridge caused the pp cone to degrade and separate from the rubber surround. Really an thermal oxidative failure. I expected better.
