Clarion ProAudio DXZ825
Our take on the Clarion ProAudio DXZ825
The multicolor dot matrix display, pop-up rotary volume knob, and motorized detachable faceplate on the ProAudio DXZ825 CD receiver head a long list of over-the-top features. Clarion built the internal "Power IC" amplifier to crank out ultra-clean 4-way power (18 watts RMS/50 peak), using special-design transistors. Plus, Beat EQ's 3 EQ presets combine with a 3-band parametric EQ so you can adjust the sound to your own tastes.
The super-sensitive Magi-Tune+ tuner simply reaches out and grabs stations for impressive AM/FM reception. Dual 24-bit D/A converters deliver uncomprising CD performance, and you'll hear absolute silence between tracks, thanks to the zero-bit mute circuit. If you record discs at home, the DXZ825 plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs.
A top-of-the-line receiver's job is not just great sound it also has to accommodate future system expansion. The DXZ825 will control a Clarion CeNet CD changer, offering CD Text and CD titling capability. An auxiliary input accepts audio signal from any outboard device VCR, video game, or MP3 portable. Three sets of 4-volt preamp outputs deliver awesomely clean signal to your external amplifiers.
The DXZ825 will also control a tuner for Sirius Satellite Radio for up to 100 stations of music, sports, and news (Sirius antenna and subscription also required). A remote control is provided for your convenience. This exceptional receiver features a cast-aluminum front panel, for extra stability and an undeniable touch of elegance.Details:

Message Display: When you turn the unit on, the display shows a message stating "Hello". When the unit is turned off, "Good-bye!" appears on the display. The message display can be turned on or off.
Contrast Adjust: With Contrast Adjust, you have complete control over the new Dot Matrix display. You can optimize the display brightness and contrast for the best view, no matter how low or high in the dash the source unit is mounted.
Screen Saver Display: You can choose one of three different screen savers, "SS Random", or "SS Off". In "SS Random" mode, the display cycles through all of the screen savers in random order. In "SS Off" mode, all of the screen savers are turned off.
Sirius Satellite Radio Controls: This unit can control the optional Clarion Sirius Satellite tuner (sold separately). The optional tuner, along with an antenna and subscription, will allow you to receive Sirius Satellite Radio.
Clarion CeNET TV Tuner Control: This unit is capable of controlling Clarion's CeNET TV tuner.
Clarion CeNET EQ/DSP/Crossover Control: This unit is compatible with Clarion CeNET EQ/DSP/Crossover modules.
Clarion CeNET DAB Control: This unit can control Clarion's DAB tuner.
Clarion CeNET DVD Deck Control: This unit is compatible with Clarion's CeNET DVD deck.
3-Band Beat EQ: This unit has a built-in 3-band equalizer. Three equalizer curves are preset into memory and may be modified. In addition to the three factory presets, you may store your own settings under the "User Custom" preset. The factory presets are "Bass Boost" (bass emphasized), "Impact" (bass and treble emphasized), and "Excite" (bass and treble emphasized, mids de-emphasized). When "Bass Boost" is selected, you can adjust the bass setting from -3dB to +3dB in 1dB increments. When "Impact" or "Excite" is selected, you can adjust the bass and treble setting from -3dB to +3dB in 1dB increments. When "User Custom" is selected, you can independently adjust the gain, frequency and Q factor for the bass and midrange. For the treble, you can adjust the gain and frequency.
Magi-Tune+ FM Tuner: This receiver is equipped with Clarion's proprietary Magi-Tune+ FM Tuner, which improves sensitivity and selectivity for excellent FM stereo reproduction.
Instant Station Recall (ISR): This feature gives you one touch recall of a single favorite radio station (this is in addition to the 18 FM and 6 AM presets).
Dual 24-bit D/A Converters: The dual 24-bit D/A converters re-quantize the 16-bit audio signals from CDs and DVDs as 24-bit data while maintaining the low distortion and high linearity of a 1-bit D/A converter. This allows an expanded dynamic range and clearer reproduction of subtle nuances, for a richer sound when viewing DVDs or listening to CDs.
CD Text: When playing a CD encoded with CD Text, this unit will display the CD Text information. When a title is longer than 11 characters, you can make the title scroll by pressing the "Title" button.
CD/CD Changer/TV Titling: Titles, up to 10 characters long, can be stored and recalled from memory for individual CDs, discs in a changer magazine, or TV stations. 50 titles may be entered for the CD mode and 15 may be entered for TV tuner mode. In CD changer mode, you may enter 100 CD titles when using the DCZ625 or 50 titles when using the CDC1255z changer.
Top Play Button: Pressing the "Top" button while a CD is playing will start the disc playing from track 1 again.
Auto Reload: When a CD is ejected and left sticking out of the CD slot for 15 seconds, the unit automatically reloads the CD to protect if from damage. This feature works with 5" (12cm) CDs, but it will not work with 3" (8cm) CDs.
Last Position Memory: If you turn off the unit while a disc is playing, it will resume playback at that point when it is turned on again.
Front and Rear 4.0-Volt Preamp Inputs/Outputs: This unit is equipped with gold-plated front and rear RCA preamp inputs/outputs. These are dual mode connections (there is not one set of outputs and another set of inputs). When used as line outputs, the "Line In/Line Out" switch, located on the bottom of the unit, must be set to the "Line Out" position. By setting the "Line In/Line Out" switch to the "Line In" position, this unit's front and rear preamp connections can accept an audio signal from a Clarion expanded EQ or DSP module; this feature allows the unit to amplify signals processed by an EQ/DSP module and send it to your speakers, without the need for external amplifiers.
Non-Fading 4.0-Volt Preamp Outputs: In addition to the gold-plated front and rear 4.0-volt preamp outputs, this unit is equipped with one set of gold-plated, non-fading RCA preamp outputs. These outputs are typically used to feed a subwoofer amplifier. The non-fading output level is adjustable from -6 to +6.
Auxiliary Input: Stereo RCA preamp inputs are hardwired to the back of the unit on a 4" lead, allowing you to connect a portable audio source. Just connect your portable cassette, MD or MP3 player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system. The Aux input sensitivity is adjustable and can be set to "Sens High", "Sens Mid", or "Sens Low".
Cellular Mute Lead: This unit is equipped with a lead that will mute the audio output when it receives a muting signal from a cellular phone equipped with a muting output. When a cellular call is received, a signal sent from the phone to the muting lead causes the unit to mute the audio output, then, once the call is over, the audio level is automatically restored. To use this feature, you must have a cellular phone with a muting output that can be connected to the muting input wire (brown wire) of this unit.
Dimmer Feature: This unit is equipped with a wire that Clarion calls an illumination lead, however, it acts as a dimmer lead. When the illumination wire of this unit receives power and the dimmer feature has been turned on, the display will dim to a preset level. Note: When the power and constant wires are connected and the illumination wire is supplied with voltage (when you turn your lights on), the button illumination remains on even if the unit is turned off completely.
CeNET Control: This unit is equipped with a CeNET control connector and can control up to a total of two CeNET changers (CD and/or MD). Two changer control requires a Y-adapter (sold separately).
C-Bus Compatibility: Item 020RCB138 (sold separately) allows this CeNET unit to control a 6-disc C-Bus changer. The RCB138 adapter is for 6-disc changers only and cannot be used with C-Bus 12-disc changers, 18-disc changers, processors or TV tuners.
Changer Controls: In addition to basic disc navigation features, this unit has the following changer controls: direct disc access, disc intro scan, track intro scan, track repeat, disc repeat, disc random, and all disc random.
Top Function: Pressing the "Top" button while a CD is playing will start the disc playing from track 1 again.
CD Text/MD Display: When connected to a CD Text capable CD changer or an MD changer, this unit can display disc and track titles for discs encoded with disc and track title information. When a title is longer than 11 characters, you can make the title scroll by pressing the "Title" button.
CD Title Display: When used with a compatible CD changer, this feature allows you to assign names to discs in the changer. Each name can be up to 10 characters in length. The number of names you can store depends on the CD changer that is connected to the head unit. When a title is longer than 11 characters, you can make the title scroll by pressing the "Title" button.
