Magnetic grills-- you had me at magnetic grills. All in-ceiling speakers should have 'em, these do, and they are BEAUTIFUL. In terms of the performance, there is a lot of sound here for a relatively small amount of money. They are solidly built, and the spring connectors are a nice touch, especially when you're up on a ladder trying to put them in a ceiling with one hand.

Excellent In-Ceiling speakers without breaking the wallet.

I found these online for less. Excellent set of speakers, love the magnetic grilles and they look awesome. After spending numerous hours comparing other speakers, researching online and reading other reviews. I've decided to replace my 12-year old pair AUDIOSOURCE IC Five/S with these Yamahas. My mission was to find another decent pair of speakers that can handle all my music and all my TV shows. Out of the box these work perfectly in my family room. My testing material consisted of the Defenders, John WIck, some Smooth Jazz and ZOOTOPIA. In my opinion, when using properly installed in-ceiling or in-wall speakers there isn't a real need for a subwoofer. Your walls are acting like a subwoofer. Too much would be just to much. These have the right sound and output needed to satisfy this discern listener. Other speakers that I strongly considered were Infinity CS60R, Polk Audio MC60 and the Klipsch R-1650c. All were top contenders but I found these online and purchased them. The look of these Yamahas, the online price and the magnetic grilles sold me. Thanks for the reference Crutchfield.

Pros: Great all around speaker, look fantastic and very satisfying sound for any application. Way to go YAMAHA.

Cons: NONE

Applications: The Yamaha NS-IC600 in-ceiling speaker can be used in a distributed audio system, a stereo application, or as surrounds in a home theater application.

  • Stereo: For best stereo performance, install the left and right in-ceiling speakers at equal distance from the listening position. Each speaker should be separated by a distance of 6' to 10'.
  • Home Theater (Surrounds): Use these speakers for left & right surround channels. Surround speakers should ideally be placed behind the listening area, at least as far apart as the front speakers and up to 2" additional feet apart per side.

In-Ceiling Mounting: The Yamaha NS-IC600 features a slim profile design for flush in-ceiling mounting. The NS-IC600 will require an 8.0625" (diameter) round cutout in your ceiling with 4.25" of mounting depth. A cutout template is provided. The ceiling board should be 1/4" to 1.125". thick. Four mounting clamps with non-slip tread secure the speaker to your ceiling

Paintable Magnetic Grilles: The magnetic grilles easily attach and can be painted to match your room decor.
