Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Very good value for price
Yamaha's R-S202 is an excellent entry-level option for anyone looking to power a simple stereo setup. Built on decades of audio expertise, this stereo receiver delivers smooth, natural Yamaha sound to up to two pairs of speakers. Connect up to four sources, and take advantage of the R-S202's built-in Bluetooth to stream any music you want from your compatible mobile device.

Very good value for price
Overall I am very happy with the receiver. I would have given it five stars with the exception of tuning the bass and treble. You really can't fine tune the bass and treble. I will be putting the receiver in the garage, since I spend a lot of time working on my car and then upgrading the receiver for when I sit down and listen to my music.
This receiver may be no frills, but it trades bells and whistles for a really good sound! Just add a phono preamp and you're on your way to vinyl enjoyment. The bluetooth feature is easy to pair up with computers, phones or speakers and works really well. The remote is very user friendly and controls just about every feature. A set of bookshelf speakers round out its pleasant tone in small to medium spaces. The only thing small about this Yamaha is its size! This is a real treasure in the low end audio category.
It is exactly what I wanted. A basic stereo receiver with Bluetooth for the garage. It sounds great with some vintage Marantz speakers I've had for decades. If you are looking for a no-frills receiver for where ever, this is it!
Needed one for a set Bose that have been in the fam for a while. Yamaha did not disappoint in handli g the power of the speaker.
Pros: First receiver putchased, but know of Yamaha products. Pure quality.
I love it. It's great having music in my studio again.
I've had the unit for a week to hold me over while my vintage NAD receiver is being serviced (12+weeks). So far it has been terrific, especially considering the price. I have several other Yamaha products, and they have all been solid performers. The only surprise with the R-S202 is that the speaker connections take what I consider a rather small gauge wire. My venerable NAD 7240PE accepted some pretty robust Monster Cable whereas fortunately I had some smaller gauge wire handy to connect my speakers. Having been use to a fairly manual receiver, I appreciated that the R-S202 has some useful modern conveniences without being too overburdened with needless bells and whistles. Being an NAD fan, I obviously prefer clean design, and the Yamaha R-S202 is certainly easy on the eyes in that regard.
Pros: Great Price; a feature set that does not overwhelm; solid sound; clean design
Cons: Minor surprise with small speaker terminals
Small but good enough for bookshelf speakers! Smooth Bluetooth received!
Just what the doctor ordered! Great little receiver, love the Bluetooth technology.
Very pleased. Exceeded my expectations
Great little low cost stereo receiver/amplifier. Just what I wanted and at an incredible price. Will bring the tunes back to the garage.
Pros: price features sound quality build quality
Great quality and price
Outstanding all around performance
Seems like a very good receiver. It may just be the area that I am in bed the radio antenna doesn't bring in more than a couple of stations where as I have another radio that gets at least double or triple that.
Pros: Everything but wish radio reception was stronger.
Cons: Wish radio reception was stronger.
Great simple stereo receiver at a great price on sale at Crutchfield. Bluetooth works great, super easy "pairing" to my iPhone and iPad. Plenty of power to drive two pair of bookshelf speakers. Does all I need it to do. No wifi, but I don't need that. Love Crutchfield, and love Yamaha gear.
It looks really nice but I don't plan on using it until spring. It is for my out door speakers
Pros: Great Quality
Cons: Bigger than I thought it would b. Made it difficult to squeeze into cabinet
Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for. No frills, a very affordable amp just specifically for music. I personally already had a a phono pre-amp, but if you intend to listen to vinyl, you will need to add one.
It's great.I needed a new receiver as my old one is dying, but it's in the garage, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was looking at this one to buy when I saw it in the outlet section and pulled the trigger. It was easy to set up, sounds great and the FM reception was so much much better with the new unit than my old one. The Bluetooth set up was painless with no hiccups during the setup, and the remote was easy to figure out too. It came so well packed that it might have been new for all that I could tell. It perfect for everything that I needed. Like the other reviewers have said, it is easy to set up, and simple to use.
Pros: Feature Price
This is an entry level unit that will hook up to older CD and tape players, it plays sound and that's about it. I bought it for the garage and it serves it purpose. If you are looking for pounding power and crisp sound you need to spend a few hundred more for a unit designed for that.
Cons: Not a lot of driving power
very nice receiver with awsome sound.
it is Perfect for my Aircraft Hanger Fills the 55X60 awesom Power Bought it for Blue tooth works AWESOME
Pros: PRICE BLUE TOOTH POWER
Great receiver! Easy to use, great value for the money.
Nice receiver, simple controls. Sounds good. Only 2 complaints. The speaker wire connections are small, and since I was running longer distances I needed heavier gauge wire it was difficult to make solid connections. Also, it's difficult to tell when the A B switch buttons are on or off. Our B speakers are outside on our porch and we have to go outside to verify if they are on. It would be nice if the buttons lit up or changed positions when pushed on. Otherwise, very happy with it.
Pros: Very easy to set up & use.
Cons: Speaker wire connections too small A B speaker selection buttons do not indicate when on or off.
Exactly what I needed in a secondary receiver.
Need a quick replacement for my drum studio. So far so good.
I'm blown away. I wasn't sure what I'd be getting for this price, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Bluetooth works great, and even the tuner is better than anticipated. I would highly recommend.
Pros: Works great, low price.
Cons: No sub rca output
This is a basic 2 channel receiver which is what I wanted. It is simple, easy to use, and has enough power to easily send to my KEF Q900 speakers. If this is what you are looking for, you can't beat the quality or price.
It's a great basic receiver with Bluetooth. That feature alone was the reason I replaced my old receiver with this one.
I have wanted a YAMAHA receiver since forever. It has good clean sound and the price was very affordable. I am very pleased.
Replaced an old Sony amplifier with the Yamaha R-S202 for our home audio system. It had the dual audio system that the house was set up for and it works great. Sound quality is vastly improved and the speakers are in balance in both rooms. Best of all the unit required minimal setup and functions with a basic operation that is visually enhanced and easy to use. It was exactly what we were looking for. Right product. Right price. right quality. We are very happy.
Pros: The ability to operate 2 sets of speakers independently or together with no loss of sound quality.
Great entry level receiver. I got some Polk T15 bookshelf speakers and a Yamaha 10" subwoofer to pair with it and its great. Used the B Speaker lines to go to the sub and the A lines to feed the bookshelf speakers. Decent room filling sound for a joint living room and dining room area. Will be great for parties. The Bluetooth paired well with my devices and had decent range as well. Very happy after a few weeks of use.
Pros: Nice entry receiver B line can be used for Subwoofer
Cons: only 100 watts No CD Wish it had a USB input too
Excellent low cost receiver. Bluetooth is very simple to pair and works great. Excellent sounds at the high and low ends. Two items that it lacks- a sub woofer direct output and a switched 120 receptacle would be great to have but are easy to work around.
Pros: Sleek design Excellent sound Easy Bluetooth pairing Plenty of inputs
Cons: No subwoofer direct output No switched 120v receptacle
It works well, delivered on time, good price. I'm happy.
I bought this to replace my old 1993 era model yamaha rx-v490 garage receiver 70 wpc. , as it was getting tired. I needed (wanted) at least 100 per channel to power garage speakers and projects etc. And this was in my allowable budget!!.... So I noticed right away it was lighter than most any similar receiver I had owned in past , and noticed cheesy speaker terminals , at this point feeling a little apprehensive, I proceeded with installation , trying to keep in mind that Crutchfield had never steered me wrong before, plus some of the reviews helped sell me on it. I plugged in my source turned on and rotated volume....I was quite blown away that it sounded as clear as it did starting out from a flat bass/treble setting, also it had the power to move my speakers cleanly at that!!. They are 4-way set up (2-12"woofers wired in series ,mid , and a horn tweeter in a 2.5ish cu ft. Encloser) anyways.... Than so I added my eq in series as there is no tape loop, which also spiced up the input signal a bit. I played various audio test stuff, jazz, orchestra, big band, clean sounding rock albums etc. I was floored how this performed for this price point. I should add, I also connected my old realistic watt meter, not sure of accuracy, but between the woofers moving and the ease of hitting the 100 watt led on meter with room on volume to spare I'm pretty sure I can say the 100-wpc is legit, and its clean too!!! I add this in review because a lot of watt ratings are fantasy!!
Pros: Good clean power, nice tuner & of course bluetooth!!!
Cons: No tape moniter loop, cheesy speaker terminals. But for this price who cares!!
The reviews are correct. This is an outstanding basic receiver and priced right. We have 2 of the Blue-tooth versions (1 in our garage and 1 in our exercise room) and an R-S200 (no bluetooth) powering our bed/bad speakers. All 3 are perfect for their intended purpose and sound great. AND... with Amazon setting the benchmark on price, Crutchfield's price matched Amazon, so the tie-breaker was that Crutchfield was not Amazon, included a nice throw-in of speaker labels (not sure i'll use them, but maybe..) and provided great service. I'll shop Crutchfield again.
Pros: Sound, credible brand, price, service from Crutchfield
Cons: Receiver has limits, but the limits don't apply to the reason that i purchased.
Bluetooth input built right in! It doesnt have bluetooth output capability though, so cant use my bluetooth speakers this way. has no AC outlet in the back, which i suppose helps keep the price down
This was the perfect replacement for my 3 car garage. The available 200 watts to drive my Bose speakers and the endless presets/bluetooth capabilities gives me end music possibilities. I highly recommend this unit.
Pros: Great versatility Simple set-up Power to spare
No issues with easy hook up and easy connection to Bluetooth devices. Just the way you want to listen to your favorite internet stations or whatever you have on your smartphone. Perfect price for what it can do
Very nice stereo receiver for a small room. Lots of fm sensitivity and station memory. The Bluetooth works fine and the remote covers all controls but has very small lettering so hard to read. No to complicated so you don't get in to trouble and wonder why there's no sound. I've been buying "hi-fi" equipment since 1955 so I know a bargain that's loaded with features and the RS202 fits the bill. Bill
I have this tuner pushing a pair of polk RTi A3 speakers and am very happy. great sounds and I love the bluetooth feature that allows me to stream from my mobile phone or any device in my home.
Great system, blue tooth comes in handy for streaming music. perfect size for small living room. priced well.
Pros: watts priced well easy set up
Cons: no phonograph hook up
I had had a receiver for many years and it finally died. I saw online that a friend had this Yamaha for his shop and how much he liked it so, the price was excellent and the product, also. Very fast delivery and it sounds great.
Pros: What I wanted. Great price. Very quick delivery. Easy setup.
Cons: Don't have sny
A fine unit at a great price! For a two-channel system (in our living room, where there's no TV), this receiver is ideal. The tuner is fine, the output is plentiful, the controls are intuitive. It does exactly what it needs to do.
Pros: If you need a stereo sound system and nothing more, this is perfect!
Very good buy this receiver very nice sounding I have a more expensive higher in Yamaha receiver already and this one is such a good price for what it is I read highly recommend it
Easy to set up and use. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it's Yamaha quality. Sounds awesome
Exactly what I wanted! This is a fine receiver and easy to use. I would highly recommend! Excellent service from Crutchfield as always !!
Pros: Ease of operation great quality
Excellent product, great service from Cruthfeld
Excellent basic no frills unit. Using it in my garage and works beautifully.
Pros: Simple, powerful
good basic receiver for the shop or garage use
Pros: fair value for the price, remote works well and it is very convenient
PERFECT FOR MY GARAGE. SETTING UP WAS SIMPLE, FAST AND NO PROBLEMS. FEATURES WERE GREAT FOR WHAT I NEEDED THIS FOR. PRICE WAS VERY AFFORDABLE AND I COULDN'T BE MORE HAPPIER. THIS UNIT IS REPLACING A 39 YEAR OLD RECEIVER THAT FINALLY STARTED TO FAIL. HOPE THIS ONE LASTS A LONG TIME AS WELL.
Pros: GREAT FEATURES, VERY EASY SETUP, AFFORDABLE
Cons: NONE AT THIS TIME
This is a great receiver. And for the price it is awesome. I loved how easy it was to sync my android phone to its Bluetooth since I am not a computer guy. I wanted to put together a "least expensive" option for playing tunes in my shop while I work on projects and this fit the bill perfectly.
Pros: Very basic, and inexpensive. Just what I was looking for.
Cons: Perhaps not for those who want to build a beefy main sound system. I don't think you can run an equalizer through this as it does not have a tape monitor loop.
Very good steel for the money!!!!Nice quality for the size of the receiver. Bluetooth comes in real handy for outdoor speakers.
Pros: Nice clean sound with good bass.
Cons: None noted for this receiver!!
I purchased this receiver after purchasing a series of "soundbars" that just left much to be desired for increasing the volume of my TV. The soundbars claimed hundreds of watts which was nonsense. By the time I got into spending 150 or more I ran across this site and spoke with Marshall, a great fellow who pointed me in this direction along with a set of Polk OWM3s. Now, not only is the TV kicking out great sound, but I use this system to play mp3s off my iPhone, have a nice receiver for FM and my upstairs neighbor is complaining about the floors shaking! ;) It's a perfect system for a good size bedroom and sounds awesome. I'm going to add another pair of Polk speakers to it at some point but for 250 for this receiver and a nice set of Polks? You can't go wrong. Excellent quality. Quality materials. I'm loving this. Thank you Marshall and thank you Crutchfield. You are getting my repeat business for the next set of speakers to add to this and a system to drive sound in the living and for the computers which this will also drive with a simple 12 dollar Bluetooth USB adapter.
Pros: 1. Great price. 2. Quality Materials and product. 3. 100 watts per channel is enough to drive a nice set of Polk OWM3s that sound crisp and clean and will fill a good size bedroom (and upset your neighbors if crank it!)
Cons: 1. None found.
Very user-friendly even for a novice audio file like myself, not a super technical guy but the instructions were plain and clear had a little trouble setting up the Bluetooth only because of my phone not because of the product all in all very satisfied
Pros: Great price for what you get very worth the money
Cons: Not that I can tell so far very satisfied
Easy to set up. Small issue linking my cell phone to the receiver that was easily resolved when I leaned my cell phone against the receiver. There were several other cell phones in the room and I'm guessing it wasn't sure which one to link with. Once linked the range is, in my opinion, excellent. The receiver is placed inside the house against an exterior backyard wall. The Bluetooth works great from the backyard.
Pros: Great features at a very reasonable price.
Great Product! Simple to use. Simple to pair with Bluetooth on IPhone. Has all the features I want and none of the clutter I don't. Plus plenty of power to drive multiple speakers. Simple A and B speaker multi zone switching.
I am very happy with both the yamaha receiver and Crutchfield. This is my first purchase with them and I like that they will stand by their merchandise. I also looked at big box stores and was pleased to see the price for this receiver was the same. I had much more confidence in buying from them than trying to get someone at best buy ect to rate, answer questions, stand behind their sale and return if I wasn't satisfied. Having said that I am very please with this low cost receiver. The ratings on this is what convinced me it was a quality piece of equipment for a low cost. I didn't need all the bells and whistles and realized for the money, it wasn't going to be a audiophiles stereo. But for the money this thing sounds great! Having never had a yamaha I was a little concerned that the natural sound they are known for, would sound flat and without life. Wrong, this thing has solid bass, great midrange and crisp highs. Alot depends of course on your source but with a good source this thing with its 100 watts a channel drives my klh floor standing ( 2 12 inch woofers, 4 inch midrange and 1 inch tweeters ) just fine. Thank you Yamaha and Crutchfield for allowing me to once again enjoy music without spending a ton of money.
Pros: Solid sound, blue tooth , yamaha quality for the money.
Cons: I won't be happy until I get another one for patio/garage.
Had my doubts when I ordered this unit, but upon arrival and setup, those doubts went away! Great sound, Great look ... Great value.
Pros: Great look, good sound, bluetooth range is better than expected...a good buy,
Cons: More input options would be helpful
What a nice receiver! Having been a Home Audio Professional in the past, I was really surprised at how crisp and clean the sound is. Have it hooked up to my Smartv and my IPhone through Bluetooth. Does a great job for a great price.
Pros: Clean sound, Bluetooth, and great price.
Great product for an economical price! Simply set up. Paired it with some outdoor Yamaha speakers for my backyard pool area. Works and sounds really well.
Pros: Easy set up.
Cons: Not enough component capability.
Bought the Yamaha and hooked it up with two older B&W speakers and gave to my daughter for her birthday. She can run her iPhone through using the Bluetooth feature. Perfect for Millennials.
I own Bose Series VI speakers and this Yamaha model was not capable of powering them as it did not have an output for the equalizer Had to return Customer service was great in helping me find a compatible unit, the Yamaha R700.
Pros: Good looking unit however insufficient for my needs
Cons: Unable to power my Bose speakers wit equalizer
Biggest disappointment was no output for a subwoofer. Other than that performance was adequate. Directions for operation were simple to understand. Bluetooth operation was good. If you don't want a subwoofer option this unit is a good choice for the price.
Pros: Nice unit for the price. Easy to,operate.
Cons: No subwoofer output
I was looking around for a Bluetooth speaker but I hated to spend the money on a UE Boom that sounds OK. I have two great bookshelf speakers from my older stereo and the Yamaha 202 was a perfect fit. I am looking at buying another receiver as I have more/better speakers that I can use in my garage.
Pros: Easy connections wired and wireless
Excellent price, fast shipping and Receiver was packaged with care and it show's, when received it looked like it was picked up rite off the store shelf. I'm a long time Crutchfield customer and plan to stay that way!
I would say this is great for the price, but it would be really great for even for twice the price! This is an awesome receiver for anyone who wants a simple two channel stereo and has a couple components to go with it. I discovered (quite accidentally) that this receiver is capable of bi-amping higher end speakers with dual binding posts. Per the owners manual, just connect both A & B speakers to the posts, and make sure A and B speakers are both on. I have them bi-amped with a set of Polk S60 speakers, and the sound is unbelievable. I can play songs through my iPhone via bluetooth, and every song sounds better than I've ever heard it before. Bluetooth and my components hooked up with analog inputs all sound great. I did have a tough time during setup with the tiny speaker connectors, but other than that, no problems at all. Simple bass and treble controls make it easy to adjust the sound.
Pros: Really great quality for a low price
Cons: Speaker connecters are tiny
I'm not one who issues many product reviews. I feel that if the product lives up to the manufacturers description then its ok. However I like this product so well I feel compelled to sing it's praises. For me it was literally out of the box, plug it in, and enjoy. The sound is typical YAMAHA quality, the Bluetooth receiver coupled with my telephone allows hundreds of stations to be accessed with a minimum of effort, the FM section is sensitive and pulls in stations that my last receiver could not. If only all things in life were this simple and straightforward.
Pros: Excellent value, good power, great FM, and Bluetooth to boot.
Cons: I just can't find any negatives with this guy.
Only been a couple days since I got this reciever to replace an older Kenwood KR-V5570 50x2 reciever. The new Yamaha is hooked up to 14 year old Optimus 12" 3 way speakers. My speakers are 100 watts RMS/200 Max with 14ga. wire. You might have to fiddle with the reciever speaker connections with that size wire but it will fit. Not a huge a improvement over the old Kenwood, only bought it because some of the features on the Kenwood were giving out. The sound is notably better. More cleaned up and filled out overall. I am very happy with this reciever and the bluetooth works wonders! I live in an older 2 story home and go all over without it cutting out. Not sure how many feet in a straight line it would go. If your looking for a your basic general purpose reciever, this is it.
Pros: Nice looking, easy controls and doesn't weigh a ton
Cons: None yet. Time will tell
Hooked this unit up to an old set of JBL ND310's and it's super clear and easy to use. This receiver is an awesome deal. It replaced a 20+ year old Yamaha I had. I think it sounds better than it did 20 years ago. lol.
Great product at a great value
It works very good. I use it for home, in wall, speakers in multiple rooms.
Pros: It is inexpensive, comparatively.
Cons: None yet, but I'm using on average speakers.
Got this receiver a few weeks ago. Good power. Bluetooth works great with all my devices. Nice crisp solid sound. Used it at house party and it was great... would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to set up a good music system.
Pros: Like everything
I purchased the Yamaha R-S202 for use in a garage location. It fit nicely in my search for a basic stereo at good value that would power 2 sets of speakers. I really like the Bluetooth feature. It was EZ to set up and seems to work good .I live in the central valley of California and we can have pretty warm summers. My garage is on the unshaded west side of my home and it can get pretty warm during the summer months. My reasoning for only 4 stars is the tendency for the Yamaha R-S202 to over heat and power itself off. If you look at the internals there is very little in the way of heatsinks and it is not happy being used in a warm location. It will run for about 3hrs before it wants to shut off. I even have it set up with twin 5" computer hard drive fans blowing on it for cooling. Before using the Yamaha R-S202 I've run some older stereos and they never overheated. Overall I'm happy with the Yamaha R-S202 and I think at the price point it is a good value!
Pros: Love the Bluetooth
Cons: Doesn't like to be used in a warm location
Building a vintage stereo system. What a deal, powerful enough to drive three sets of quality speakers with clean power. CD s, records and in a jam...Bluetooth!. Best of all the price is right!
I bought this to power a set of DIY speakers I built with my son for his room. During the time we were building the speakers the amp on my main system died on me and I decided to hook this up while waiting for a replacement. It replaced a $2500 dollar integrated amp driving a pair of B&W 805 d3 diamond speakers. Did it sound as good? No, but it was a lot closer then I thought it would be. My replacement amp took four months to arrive and I continued to use the yamaha. The real difference between them was the imaging. This was really only an issue when sitting in the sweet spot and doing some critical listening. I ended up purchasing a second amp to drive a pair of ceiling speakers I put in the kitchen for my wife. She loves the easy to use Bluetooth feature to listen to iTunes off of her phone. The Yamaha and a reasonable set of speakers will beat a Bluetooth speaker or sound bar any day of the week. Highly recommended!
Pros: Great affordable Receiver
Cons: Non at this price
Great price for such a featured packed receiver. Bluetooth is a nice feature to have.
Pros: Price is great and so is the sound quality.
Cons: No as of yet.
For the money it offers a lot of good sound... I got this unit to replace my Yamaha receiver from 1981 - while perhaps not as 'warm' sounding it does deliver a great value!
Pros: Great value in a great sounding receiver -
Cons: A bunch of options reside on the remote and not the unit itself... (but that just nit-picking)
Audiophile equipment? No it's not. But it's a great value, sounds good, and with bluetooth connectivity, much better sound than a boom box or stand alone bluetooth speaker.
Pros: inexpensive name brand bluetooth connectivity
Cons: no phono connection, but at this price you can't have everything
good, excelent product for the price
The perfect garage receiver - inexpensive and easy.
Great sounding, and very functional for the price.
Cons: Wish it had a cooling fan it gets pretty hot
Exceeded expectations! Great support and follow up
I bought this for an inexpensive receiver for my shop at work. It meets all my expectations. I have four speakers hooked up and an inline Sub. The FM works fine as I am in a very remote area and was able to get the stations I wanted. The Bluetooth is amazing! I tuned into iHeart Radio on my iPhone and it picked it up no matter where I was in the shop - even when I went into my office. For a low cost two channel stereo it gets a thumbs up from me.
Pros: Easy hookup. Great Bluetooth!
Excellent sound, easy to connect to Bluetooth,
Pros: Clean look, easy to connect Bluetooth
Cons: Remote is long
Excellent song. Simple set up and operation. Outstanding product
This is a basic no frills receiver. However, don't let that statement fool you. I bought this receiver to replace an old, tired unit out in my garage, and it did not disappoint. I paired it up with a pair of Polk Atrium speakers, and the sound is great. Pairing the Bluetooth was a breeze, which now allows me to listen to Pandora, SiriusXM, Spotify, and any other music files I have on the IPad or my IPhone .
Pros: Easy, simple hookups, Bluetooth, and for the price, I couldn't be happier.
Order simple receiver from another company, but ended up being a piece of junk. Sent it back and ordered this one from Crutchfield. Great basic 4 channel receiver. As always with Crutchfield, order was as anticipated!
GREAT RECEIVER!!! My SONY receiver died after 20+ years. I needed this for my CD player and satellite radio. Just what I needed. EXCELLENT sound! GREAT price! Couldn't be happier. Always a pleasure working with Crutchfield.
Pros: Easy setup
I installed the R-S202 receiver in my garage/shop, it was a very simple setup and it works fantastic. The Bluetooth ability has really broadened my music choices. I am happy with my purchase.
Pros: Bluetooth works great. Plenty of power. Inexpensive.
Worth every penny. Have set up for tv with Polk sub 110 and JBL Studio 230's on A. On B in other room JBL 2600's. Love Bluetooth was easy set up. Can control volume from iPad or iPhone. Nice remote also. When first started up volume at 30 could not hear ,thought I hooked up wrong. Volume at 60 is nice ,70 is loud. Plenty of power.
Pros: Bluetooth , Price , nice remote
Cons: Volume picks up at 60. But sounds great !
Sounds great. Love the AB switch. Use in garage or back yard or both. Bluetooth is awesome.
A great receiver for the price.
Pros: Easy set up and operation and sound is great. I needed this product for the speakers on my deck and it works perfectly. Very pleased.
A fine 2channel receiver for a master bedroom. I only have Yamaha products in house.
Great receiver for the price. Hooked it up to a Denon turntable and it sounds great.
This unit is exactly what I wanted! It's connected to my outside speakers and has great sound. I wanted it for the sound and the bluetooth capability and it works perfectly. You can't beat the price of this unit for it's sound output. I highly recommend this unit!
I am not an audiophile by any means but I will say that I am 100% satisfied with this receiver. Great customer support too. Will be purchasing any audio products from Crutchfield in the future.
Is perfect with Bose 301 bookshelf speakers
Pros: Very simple and clean sound
After only 21 years of service my old Kenwood receiver died. Now the question is what to replace it with. I contacted Jason with Crutchfield since I have an old pair of Klipsch KG 5.5 speakers that always sounded flawless driven by the old Kenwood 100 watt receiver. Jason looked up the specks on the Klipsch speakers and verified that the Yamaha R-S202 would go great with the Klipsch speakers. The price was right and free shipping made this a no brainer. I made the order and had a shipping confirmation within the hour and it arrived in just a couple of days. It was easy to hook up and OMG!!!!! technology has increased!!! The Yamaha driving the Klipsch speakers is far better than the old Kenwood ever was. This set up rocks! With the Yamaha's blue tooth it is easy to use an ipod or iphone and the sound is awesome. Can only crank it about 3/4 of full volume because that is about all a person can take in a living room. Just like being in a concert in the living room. Thanks Crutchfield for the excellent shopping experience and service.
Pros: Simple unit that rocks!
This is an excellent receiver for the cost. Most inexpensive receivers struggle to put out the bass. But this one does a nice job.
Just what I wanted. Power, clarity and the Bluetooth is awesome. Now I can listen to my Amazon music and Spotify with no issues whatsoever! Price was great, thank you Crutchfield!
Pros: Plenty of power, clarity, looks good, Bluetooth, price was right
It sounded a bit flat out of the box so I fine tuned the sound with a graphic equalizer and couldn't be happier.
Pros: Punchy bass
Excellent value. Great sound!
Great Receiver but if you want to get more than a handful of channels buy a set of Rabbit ears or a good antenna for FM but other than than this Receiver cranks and sounds good, worth the money.
Pros: Great sound and everything works as it should.worth the money,I think im gonna buy a 2nd one for back up just in case.
Well worth the price, good quality, pairing is good.
Pros: For the price, well worth it if you want bluetooth
Cons: Lightup remote would have been nice
Bought receiver bundled with the Klipsch Reference R-15M speakers to replace 25 year old Onkyo mini system. What a difference! Especially like the bluetooth connection. Added a Yamaha 6-disc CD changer and near future plans are to add second set of speakers to my office.
Pros: Great Yamaha quality and bluetooth connectivity
Cons: none so far
This stereo ROCKS! Plenty of power, easy controls, works great right out of the box! What else is there to love!
Great baseline product that has Bluetooth. Simple to operate and hookup.
Love this receiver. Hard to find a basic one with 2 channel and power to spare. The Bluetooth works great. I have it hooked to walsh 2s and it's amazing how good they sound. The price was great too.
Cons: Binding post would make it perfect.
great product, great sound , great price. I am hearing things I never heard before.
Pros: crystal clear sound
Cons: not able to connect turntable
Love it. Great deal. Great service
Pros: Prince, quality, sound.
A great product! I waited for the sale and saved $20. I agree with all the positive comments from the customers below. With this receiver I accomplished everything that I wanted for my listening area (CD, iPod, xfinity stream, & occasional FM) . It produces clear sound thru my Klipsch Reference R-24F speakers. Well done Yamaha and Crutchfield.
Pros: A great product, simple to use, at a very fair price.
I hooked this up to my Bose 251 outdoor speakers and it sounds great. Bluetooth feature is what I was looking for and it works well. Pairing process was quick and easy. Good receiver for a great price.
Pros: Price, bluetooth connectivity
This is a straight forward,no nonsense stereo...easy to operate, and sounds great bi-amped to a pair of Klipsch speakers...One more thing, the price is as good as the product ,Good job Yamaha...
I bought this receiver to pair with Kipsch outdoor speakers. They sound great. The bluetooth connection was really easy and I haven't had any connection issues until I get really far away from the receiver. For the price, I don't think it could be much better.
Pros: clear sound affordable bluetooth
Cons: bluetooth confusion when set up to connect to two different devices.
Is a great buy and with aexellent sound to count on. Beautiful performance too. Delivered a magnificent high quality sound, rich low bass, simple and easy to use. Is a pure clear sound for your ears, you won't regret and for a good price is the best.
Pros: Good for small home studio with a big sound
Great for my outside stereo. Hook up went very well and easy
Excellent product! Easy to install. Sound is really nice.
Works very very well Bluetooth is the main thing I wanted that's what I got I like it for its simplicity thank you Crutchfield
Pros: Bluetooth simple design digital turn knob for volume
Cons: Too many buttons on remote remote looks the same both directions upside-down or right-side up you have to look at the Yamaha sign on it to even be able to tell what you're holding on to no big deal just too much of a hassle
The sound has surprisingly good micro/ macro dynamics and detail, the sound stage is deep. I use it mainly for TV and DVD discs, on a book shelf unfriendly to hi-fi reproduction. Its performance would be much better if I could place it where my main sound system is (short side of the room). The midrange is totally involving and the fast transient response adds a thrill. It takes time for the new electronics to burn in, and there's been a definite improvement in sound quality after 20 of the generally required 50 hours of actual usage at its entire frequency range.
Pros: Simple design
Excellent design and build quality! Yamaha has simplified the controls for those of us that don't need lot's of bells and whistles. The sound quality and power are really outstanding for an amplifier at this price point! I would highly recommend the R-S202 for anyone looking for a 2 or 4 speaker stereo receiver. The Bluetooth works well which was the main reason I purchased it.
Pros: Sound quality. Bluetooth connectivity. Intuitive controls.
Cons: Smaller digital screen is hard to read for those of us with less than 20/20 vision.
Clarity and simplicity. Excellent. As good as my SWTP Tigers.Anyone remember those?
Pros: Guts of a champion, face of the one that kicks ass.
Cons: Best bang for the buck,by far.
Great product at a great product. I am very pleased how it sounds with my old Bose speakers
I came across this receiver when looking for Bluetooth options to stream music in the living room. I bought this receiver mainly for the Bluetooth connectivity, but I am extremely pleased with the sound it produces and the quality of the unit. It works flawlessly! Simple set-up and controls make this unit easy for anyone in the family to operate. If you are looking for a basic receiver with built-in Bluetooth, I don't think you will be disappointed!
Pros: Bluetooth connectivity works great! Good power! Great sound overall!
Cons: None found yet!
Works well, super simple to hook up, enough power for two rooms, easy !
Pros: Simple and inexpensive receiver for a second guest room
Outstanding performance and function in an entry level receiver. After trying several other receivers with features I wouldn't use, this one fit the bill at a very reasonable price. For my needs and music choices the Yamaha R-S202 fit the bill and cost hundreds less than top end receivers. Yes, it may lack a pre-amp for a turntable, but no worries, if you insist on vinyl ( I grew up with vinyl ) add an after market pre amp. The Bluetooth function set up and connectivity was a breeze with the bonus of great range. A nice full frequency response without 'thumping' bass, rather a nice mellow lower end adding to my collection of mostly 60s and 70s music.
Pros: Bluetooth functions flawlessly, wide frequency range, easy controls
Cons: None other than lack of a turntable input, but for a great deal like this, you can easily add a pre amp..
OMG, I LOVE THIS RECEIVER!!!! Ok, sorry if that's obnoxious but this receiver really is amazing!! Very powerful and very clean sound too. I was a professional installer some years ago and I've installed some of the highest end systems there were and a lot of them did not have sound as clean from static and ground issues as this one. If you are looking for a basic stereo setup with a pair or 2 of speakers, for just audio then this is your best choice. I have this hooked up to the Only I multi disk CD player, Hall USB-1 turntable and a pair of Polk TSi200's and it's perfect. It has more than enough power to kick out to fill my large living room and it has a very good Bluetooth function that's easy to use. My only suggestion is if you are hooking up a turntable with an integrated pre-amp get yourself a stand alone preamp to use inline.
Pros: Clear, clean sound and tons of power for medium to large rooms, BLUETOOTH!!!, very quick and easy setup.
The Yamaha R-S202 is outstanding. I bought it to replace a Yamaha receiver that lasted 25 years. After so many years of not keeping up with products and prices of receivers, I was very pleasantly surprised to find a product of this quality for such a reasonable price!
Very good reciever for the money Does everything I need it to do.
Pros: Good reciever for the price
Cons: Lighted area is very small
Used it a couple of week's now. So far so good. This is a good product. I use it in my garage with a cd player and bookshelf speaker's. Thumb's up!!!
simple excellence. great simple receiver with good quality performance. i bought this for my garage as my old shelf system had failed. bluetooth functionality was my goal and this simple receiver really does the job. the volume function is a little odd as it is not linear, but it works fine if you simply turn the know more to the right if you want it louder. clean power in a simple package at a nice price point was exactly what i was looking for.
Pros: price, simplicity, power
Cons: no usb
Excellent stereo receiver - have it hooked up to a pair of indoor speakers and a pair of outdoor speakers on my patio and they sound amazing. Been using a bookshelf system for about 20 years and it does not compare to the Yamaha R-S202 at all. Easy to setup with the added Bluetooth capability will make the summer on the deck/patio that much better.
Pros: FM Stereo with amazing clarity, option to connect to my phone by Bluetooth. Price on this piece was inexpensive however you would never guess it by looking at it or hearing it for that matter.
Cons: Haven't found a single con as of yet.
A great little receiver for the price. It's perfect for music for your yard where your garage or if you just want to listen to music in your house and you're not in the frills excellent little receiver the Bluetooth is awesome
Pros: For the money it's a great receiver use it for music it out on my deck in the backyard the Bluetooth works excellent the sound is really good . considering I'm only use a little pair of Yamaha speakers for outdoor use it sounds excellent.
Cons: A little tricky getting the preset set for your FM took a few minutes tofigure it out
Really pleased with Receiver so far. BT range is outstanding. I have a pair of JBL L50's and the sound is very good. Pushing volume levels at 95% with no clipping.
Pros: Great price. Simple yet effective.
Hooked up my JBL L50s and very happy with performance so far. Excellent BT range.
FOR THE MONEY THIS IS AN AWESOME STEREO. GOOD POWER AND SOUND
I bought this receiver to replace an old 70w Pioneer for my garage stereo. So far it performs very well in conjunction with my Denon CD player and my old Cerwin Vega VS100 speakers. I player it at a moderate volume for about 6 hours one day. The music sounded great and the amp didn't heat up at all. My old Pioneer used to get very warm. I tried the bluetooth feature the other day and it seems to work great with my ipod. Only had it a couple weeks but so far I like it a lot.
Pros: Easily powers my speakers, bluetooth works great, nice sound.
Almost a 5 star. Drives my old set of bose 6.1,s fine. My garage rocks. Only thing it lacks is a usb connection. If it had usb option it would be a 5.
Pros: All around great unit
Cons: No usb capability
Nice product, exactly what I want. I hook it up with my ceiling speakers and that works perfect! Easy to install and use!
Excellent product Was just what I was looking for Price was just right also Have done quite a bit of shopping with Crutchfield and have always been completely satisfied
This Yamaha R-S202 Receiver is exactly what I was hoping it would be. It's simple, easy to operate, and just sounds great !!! It was easy to hook it up, and everything is very logically laid out. It has everything that you need, and nothing that you don't . Most important is that it has a GREAT SOUND !!! It has a fuller presence to the sound than my previous receiver. Even with the bass and treble controls set to flat, it has a fuller sound. So, I know when I start making adjustments to the tone controls, it will sound that much better. It's a Great Receiver !!! I expected very good from Yamaha and the Crutchfield team, and again; they both exceeded my expectations.
Just what I was looking for and nothing more. A stereo receiver without all the fluff. I don't consider Bluetooth to be fluff??.
Love it just what I needed!
great receiver for the price, Bluetooth setting allows you to play your favorite music.
I bought this as a gift for my fiancé and he loves it! It's barely been off since he got it. I made this purchase after comparing many different receivers. What sold me was the power to price ratio as well as the beautifully simple user interface and design; plenty of options without a busy control panel. The Bluetooth option works great and has a fantastic sound quality. Primarily he uses it with his turntable (which has a preamp) and works perfectly together. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Great simple to install and use. The sound is good enough, I am using it in my garage. So it is not a great listening environment. The Bluetooth range is excellent. I can walk around the garage and even into the house. About 100' away.
Receiver is easy to use. A nice replacement of my old receiver.
For me it does everything I want it to do, and is better than I expected.
Our 30+ year old Yamaha receiver stopped working completely and we decided to replace it with the Yamaha R-S202 from Crutchfield for two reasons. One, the price was right for what we were looking for, and two, this receiver has Bluetooth capability. To say we're happy is an understatement. We can stream music from our devices to the unit and today I added the capability to stream from our desktop PC to the receiver and it works perfectly. A $5 Bluetooth USB dongle and we were rocking! All of our music is now at our fingertips and it sounds great coming through the R-S202 and our larger home speakers as opposed to the small Bluetooth speaker we were using before. Easy to setup and easier to use. My wife is tech-averse and she has no problem streaming the music off her devices with a few simple steps. Excellent Value!
Pros: Value Ease of use Functionality Performance I like the styling ...
Great product! Great service! Both are what I have come to expect from Crutchfield.
Awesome ! This unit is great. I was looking for a simple 2 channel receiver with today's technology. This is the one smooth clean sounding, very easy to operate. This confirms why I'm a Yahama fan !
Pros: Easy hook up ! Great sound and plenty of power !
Cons: None, absolutely none !
I needed an amp with suitable power to run a pair of ELAC B6 speakers in my family room and this little unit fit the bill. Has more than enough power and is also easy on the eyes. I just play music off of my smart phone so this is exactly what I needed. Simple, powerful, affordable. Perfect!
Pros: Simple. Affordable. Powerful.
Cons: Spring clamp speaker connections
The main reason I made this purchase, was for a shop system. Super quick and easy to set up. The Bluetooth works for really long distances and even through walls. We can listen to music files instead of broadcast radio. That way we don't have to listen to constant car commercials. Plenty of power makes a pair of tower speakers sound great in a large shop area. I have read reviews where others have complained about the volume control having such a high number before you hear anything. I noticed it too but I'm certainly not complaining. The remote control works well and is quick to respond.
Pros: Bluetooth!!! Plenty of power, easy to use, remote control, nice price. Having a nicer sounding system in the shop has changed the mood of the entire workplace. Everyone seems to be working more efficiently and they are in a better mood. People get to take turns playing their music files through the Bluetooth.
Cons: None yet.
Love how easy it was to set up and the Bluetooth option great value
Pros: Bluetooth option
Who would ever think that this Yamaha basic stereo receiver would pack so much raw, clean power? I have owned a $1,200 Yamaha integrated amp and a $1,300 Yamaha surround sound receiver. This time around, after the surround sound receiver went bad, I decided to just return to a simple two channel design. Because of the great reviews of the R-S202 that I saw on the Crutchfield website, I decided to make the purchase. I could not be more pleased. This amp has plenty of bass to drive my old three way Mitsubishi tower speakers. No sub need for those babies! Plus the mids are perfect and the highs so crisp and clean that the Tower of Power horns sound like they are right in the room. I stream music from my iTunes library on my Mac and from Spotify, so I can use the iTunes equalizer or a global equalizer that I have on my Mac for either iTunes or Spotify if I need additional modification. Happy is not a good enough word for this purchase.
Pros: Plenty of power Simple bluetooth Excellent highs Great bass Nice remote for adjusting volume, bass and treble
great sound easy to set up bluetooth works well great price
Pros: sound is great easy to set up
Cons: none yet
I haven't had a stereo for years so I started reading reviews and product info at Crutchfield. The description and reviews are accurate and I'm very pleased. I have music! I trust Crutchfield. Thank you
I love it . Lots of power and love wifi.
Pros: More power than I thought I love it.??
Cons: All good
Very good product and delivery time
Pros: Everything I wanted and needed, easy remote and set up
Easy to operate GREAT look
Pros: Nice sounds
Cons: Need more power
Low price, good performance, no wasted features...what more do you need!
Great product, clean sound with enough pier to drive my elac B6 speakers and lovethe quick Bluetooth connection . Plenty of vents to keep unit cool for long usage. The price is very fair and exceptional service from the #1 Compnsy Crutchfield continues to deliver . Get this befor price goes up.
Pros: Stylish, powerful and A/B speakers switch and awesome Bluetooth quick connect , venting plenryful
Cons: The remote can use improvement
Bought for audio on back patio and garage. Solid simple stereo my precise reason for purchase. 4 Stars because speaker terminals are tight for 14/2 speaker cable.
Pros: Simple design Easy use Low cost
Cons: Tight connection of 14/2 speaker wire into terminals.
So far its a great receiver. Put in our detached garage and for outdoor speakers and the sund quality is amazing. Easy to operate and a great value.
I absolutely love this unit! It gives excellent sound and lots of bass (which I love). I find this amplifier to be a great value for this Senior Lady! If you are searching for excellent sound at a very reasonable cost, this unit is the one for you! I also want to commend their tech staff for their kindness and patience with an old Southern Lady?.
Pros: Great Bass!!!! Low Cost !!! Great Tech Help!!!
Cons: The words are hard to read on a black unit. Letters should be bigger for us old folks. ??
For the money-----great deal------with Bluetooth option. I compared it to my old Kenwood AV-7042 receiver and the Yamaha held right in there----the Kenwood had more bass----but the Yamaha had clarity all the way up the scale----I had the Yamaha receiver connected to 2-Klipsch KG 3.2's---I like this setup.
It is exactly what I needed, I set it up at work. It works well sounds good .
You would be hard pressed to find a better receiver at this price. The Bluetooth works flawlessly. I don't care for the spring connectors but at this price how can you complain
Pros: Bluetooth works flawlessly
Cons: I don't care for the spring connectors but at this price how can you complain
Easy to set up, it is all that I wanted in a receiver. Great sale reps. He easily broke down the information on the receiver to what I was looking for. My Bose speakers sound great now...
Overall value is great. Yamaha sound with bluetooth all for $100 is hard to beat (look for promotions on this item). Beyond that, the power that this has is great. If you just need a basic stereo amp, this puts out more power than most HT receivers priced under $800. Don't question this purchase. You'll be happy you made it
Great sound and power from a simple, inexpensive unit. Connecting via bluetooth was a breeze and the BT signal coverage is much better than most devices I own. Highly recommended.
Pros: Price, power, sound quality, ease of use, bluetooth connectivity
The R-S202 is Great! I was looking for a simple receiver with at least 100 watts, Controller, And most important Bluetooth! My old receiver didn't have a controller, Its so nice to be able to sit at my workbench and not have to get up and have to change the volume or mute for some reason. GREAT!
Good receiver. Put it with klipsch rf28 floorstanding for my bedroom. I enjoy all the songs in lower or high volume. Easy to use without any troubles ??
Pros: Good sound for basic receiver
I decided to replace an old other make for my office system. I expected similar performance given the relative low price - my first response was WOW! I had no idea those old speakers were that good! Not only is the sound amazing but the FM section is surprising as well.
Pros: Great sound, good FM.
Cons: control and remote labels tiny and very hard to read.
Great inexpensive receiver with excellent Yamaha sound and Bluetooth. My kids got me this (from Crutchfield of course) and my wife got me an Echo Dot for Christmas, I can play what I want when I want and don't even have to pick up the remote or get up off the couch.
Easy install, blue tooth works very good. Great price!
nice unit easy to use and has Bluetooth a plus
I've always liked Yamaha receivers and was looking for a simple one to drive two sets of speakers in my kitchen and bedroom. This fit the bill and i appreciate the fact that i can adjust bass, treble etc simply. I have a more complex Denon receiver that I use in the living room for surround sound and get frustrated by its more complicated set up for tone. Most adjustments on that have to be done thru the tv screen and a sensor system. Love my "old fashioned but 21st century" model Yamaha!
Pros: Ease of use & quality
You can't beat the price for a receiver like this. The connection to bluetooth is my favorite feature. Now i'm ready to order a pair or ELAC speakers game over!
Upon receiving my Yamaha R-S202. I easily hooked it up to my CD player and speakers. It performed beautifully and performed exactly the functions I ordered it for. I am very satisfied with dealing with Crutchfield for the first time. Plan to use them again if I am in need for any accessories to the R-S202.
Absolutely a great buy. Great performance for a low price.
I bought this unit to replace an old receiver in my shop that went bad. Brings me back to the old simpler days of HiFi. For the price, you cannot beat this unit. Very simple to install. I split my 75ohm coaxial cable coming in from my outside roof mounted TV antennae and used an older coaxial cable which had an adapter on one end with a 75ohm F-connector (coaxial) and a two wire 300 ohm pair of wires. I put the F-connector in the FM input on the receiver and the 2 wires into the AM input. I get more channels than I new existed in my area. The best part is the main channels I normally listen to for music and sports talk radio both come in very strong. I do have to admit that I also love the modern technology with the Bluetooth option. It connected flawlessly on the first try to my phone. I have a large number of songs on my phone. I can walk all over my 60' x 130' shop with my phone in my pocket and the connection / song does not skip a beat. I even walked outside of the metal-pole-barn construction and the Bluetooth connection stayed - Impressed. If you are simply looking to power 2 - 4 speakers to have good music I could not recommend this unit more highly for the money. As I saw someone else say in an earlier review, it also has the look and feel of a high end receiver. My basic HDTV only has optical digital audio out. The receiver only has RCA inputs. I purchased a digital audio to RCA converter so I could hear my ballgames on the TV throughout the shop.
Easy to install sound is great Overall product best for the money Thanks
I replaced a 23 year old receiver with this unit and could not be happier . It drives 2 pair of Cerwin Vegas perfectly. And Crutchfield service was top notch!
Pros: Good unit for the $ of you don't need home theater sound
Cons: None yet
Everything this receiver promised and more! It's user friendly quality makes me look forward to powering it up.It's sound quality is exceptional for being just a receiver.I can't wait to pair it with a graphic EQ.The Bluetooth pairs up flawlessly with my iPhone. How awesome!! I have never heard my playlist thundering over big home speakers before.I will definantly seek Crutchfield for other audio video needs.super pleased!!
Just what I would have expected from Yamaha, clean, clear sound with simple controls and easy setup. Bluetooth pairing and connection was easy and fast. I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting a good stereo.
It seems to work quit well for me. We run a mid size construction co. and use in our repair shop. It is currently hooked up to six big old speakers that were left over from Woodstock and they sound great. the remote is also very handy. it even work through the wall from the office to the shop.
Great receiver. Perfect with my speakers.
Just what I was looking for. Simple operation, excellent Yamaha sound and great value. The ability to stream from Bluetooth devices makes this the perfect replacement for my Yamaha receiver from the early 80's.
Very nice Bluetooth receiver! Very easy to use. The sound quality is great and can handle our massive club speakers. We thought it may not be enough wattage to support the speakers but it handles them no problem. The remote doesn't need to be pointed directly at the receiver to work that is a nice feature. Great price
Pros: Bluetooth, easy to use
I am very well pleased this receiver it delivers great sound to all the other components and it's just what I was looking for to build a system to my liking. It deserves a 5 star rating for sure!
Pros: All good
Plenty of power - easy set-up - Great service
Excellent receiver Excellent price Excellent service
As advertised - no surprises. Sounds great with the Polk Audio TSx110B speakers i ordered at the same time. Primary use is to play music from my old iPhone (hardwired, not bluetooth) in my shop. Great value.
We ordered this item on a recommendation from one of the Crutchfield advisors and are very happy. The item came promptly, was reasonably priced, and fulfills our needs. We live in a rural area with mountains and trees which makes reception difficult. Local stations are coming in fine now.
Pros: Nice size, brings in our local radio stations in a rural area, and great service.
Very clean crisp power. I purchased to power my outdoor sound system and it works perfectly. Did not need home theater and this was the perfect choice at the perfect price.
An ideal receiver: simple, effective, easy-to-use and producing wonderful sound...
Pros: Very easy to set up, make connections, and control. An ideal receiver...
I needed a simple receiver capable of channeling bluetooth input. The Yamaha meets and exceeds my requirements. Simple setup, plenty of power to drive my tower speakers. The advisor steered me to the Yamaha after asking a few questions about my needs. Thanks Crutchfield!
Sounds great, Plenty of inputs for all of my sources. Looks good too. The non linear volume control is great, with other receivers, normal volume is way down at the bottom of the scale, This receiver plays at normal volumes at mid scale, perfect for tiny adjustments of the sound.
Transaction was fast, smooth and a great price! It installed really quick and easy and sounds great...next step....super speakers!
This works great with my pioneer speakers. It can get quite loud, has an easy interface, and the remote control works well. The bluetooth is easy to use, and seems to have a very far range. Also, the FM receiver/antenna seems to work well.
This receiver in BlueTooth mode hooked up with my notebook with no problems right out of the box. I put my music on a small 32gb flash drive that doesn't stick out past the power cable. This is the only way to listen to music at home. I also have my TV\DVD going into Line 1.
Needed a Receiver for the garage, Stereo only pushing some Outdoor Bose Speakers. Great buy, Yamaha is a great product and so easy to use. My wife hates complicated electronics.
Pros: Good Watts per Channel Controls easy to use Setups very simple
Cons: Can't think of any
I purchased this item to replace a defective all in one unit. This receiver is ok. You have to bring up the volume to at least 40 to hear anything. My 20 year old Pioneer receiver does a better job. Looking back I would have made another choice. It will do for now but I am looking for a replacement. I have had it for a month. Cannot put this on my list of recommended items.
Pros: Price. Easy to install.
Cons: Quality not up to standard. Have to set volume to 40 to hear anything and 65 to get decent sound.Crutchfield response on 10/19/2016 We appreciate the review. Our Tech Support specialist, Jason, told us: "this receiver's volume scale is non-linear, meaning while it goes from 0 to 99, 50 is not 50% volume. The curve is weighted toward the upper end, so around 60 on the Yamaha is a "normal" listening level (40-50% volume)." Jason has reached out to George to offer an exchange.
Love this receiver. It's basic black, with no frills attached, but it does its job well. Plus the Bluetooth capability is an unexpected boon. I cue up iTunes in my office, and music plays throughout the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Glad I made the purchase.
Pros: Basic and straightforward. High quality. Bluetooth capable. Reasonably priced.
Outstanding stereo at a very affordable price. Replaced a 30 year old system that quit working. Very pleased with my purchase, the price, shipping and customer service.
Pros: Quality and value.
Cons: Connections in back for speaker wire are to small difficult getting the wires in cleanly. I had a roll of 12 gauge wire had to work at getting the wires in the holes suggest putting recommended wire size in description.
Clean and powerful receiver for the money. Perfect alternative to home entertainment receiver when you primarily want to play music.
Pros: Very good value for clean, two channel output.
Cons: None, if this is what you are looking for.
Have purchased Yamaha receivers in the past and have been impressed with their quality and this is no exception. This receiver was needed to drive a whole house system (5 rooms) using an impedance matching box. Thus I was looking for a "high current" amp to do the job without burning out or getting too hot and this seems to fill the bill. Setup was easy, just connected the speaker box to the "A" speaker terminals on the Yamaha and we were good to go. The Bluetooth feature immediately recognized the iPhone and linked up flawlessly. We began listening to Pandora via the iPhone>Bluetooth>Yamaha linkup and it was fantastic. Receiver is only driving modest ceiling speakers so can't comment on frequency response or sound quality but I'm sure they're up to Yamaha standards. Highly recommend.
Pros: Good looking, easy Blutooth linkup, good power for whole house system through impedance box.
This is a great no-frills stereo receiver! It's basic & powerful but still has a few features that, IMO, make it a great addition to my garage. The Bluetooth works flawlessly and the receiver's remote control doesn't look like the cockpit of a plane. Paired with the Polk Audio TSx220B bookshelf speakers, this receiver has some serious attitude! The price can't be beat and with Crutchfield's fast shipping I had it the next day! Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Just the right amount of features without being over the top & plenty of power.
Very nice basic receiver. Great value for the money. And includes Bluetooth capability!
This receiver is EXACTLY what I needed. I was using a 20+ year old Technics receiver and it wasn't playing well. I spoke with Rusty from the Crutchfield technical help. He patiently walked me through multiple trouble shooting scenarios with no success. Realizing that my old receiver probably wasn't prepared for the digital world, it was easy to select the Yamaha R-S202 with it's Bluetooth connection and excellent price. I have it connected to a pair of Polk Audio Atrium4 outdoor speakers on my back porch and 2 Polk Audio RC60i 6.5" 2-ways in my living room. Once hard-wired, set-up was a breeze. Now, I walk in the house, hit power on the Yamaha's remote and quickly connect my I-Phone or I-Pad via Bluetooth for crystal clear music. Because of my speaker set-up, I can quietly enjoy my music on my porch while my son and his friends loudly play video games inside. In addition, if I am entertaining, this receiver has enough power to play music both inside and outside of my house.
Pros: Inexpensive Easy set-up User friendly Backed by Crutchfield support.
Cons: Small digital display.
Looking for an entry level blue tooth receiver for the pool house. Very satisfied with the sound and versatility of this unit. May find its way into the house at the end of the summer!
Pros: Bluetooth connectivity, price
I was looking for a simple way to play music from an iPad through an old (but good) set of stereo speakers I owned via Bluetooth. The Yamaha R-S202 receiver was just the answer. Linking was easy and the sound is awesome. The remote control is a great bonus and comes in handy. Delivery was super fast and the setup was a breeze.
Pros: Simple setup. Flawless Bluetooth connection so far.
Receiver was delivered very quickly and is working great. I particularly like the Bluetooth capability.
An excellent entry level receiver. For those looking for a clean and simple look with great performance, this Yamaha model will do the job.
Does what it's supposed to do. I use it to play music to drum along to :-)
Great product. Bluetooth available!!!
Great unit for the price. Sound quality is good. Easy to install. Bluetooth a plus.
Excellent unit. Easy to set up. Produces great sound
Pros: Simple set up. Priced right for what you get
This is a solid little unit, nothing fancy but all-around good product. The Bluetooth works well and covers a good distance. I miss not being able to run an equalizer through it like my old Kenwood(lasted 30 years). As always Crutchfield service is the absolute best.
Pros: Bluetooth, easy to operate.
Bought this along with a set of Yamaha outdoor speakers for a vacation house. The built in Bluetooth is great and enough power that coupled with a set of '70 era Genesis II's this little receiver reproduces music very well inside and outside through the outdoor set up. If you're looking for an "audiophile receiver" this is not for you, but if you're looking for a budget receiver that re-produces music well you can't go wrong here especially with Crutchfield's Customer Service.
Pros: Good sound Built in Bluetooth Plenty of power for a budget receiver
Cons: Power cord is not detachable but for a budget receiver its not a show stopper
Service great as usual! Receiver is clean and simple and powers the outdoor Bose great! Bluetooth has excellent range probably 25 ft or better through a wall. Wish it had a loudness button. Have to turn the volume to about 45 to start hearing it but no big deal. Overall better than you would expect for the price.
Pros: Great sound, Great Bluetooth range, clean and simple
Cons: Have to turn volume to 45 or so to get sound
So far I am very happy with this purchase. It is difficult to find a plain stereo receiver anymore that is reasonably priced. I use this in my front room and it does exactly what I want it to do. The Bluetooth capability means that I can use an old tablet to connect to my XM radio service using the XM app on the tablet. The sound quality seems good. Good value for the price. The remote is a useful feature but not really necessary for my installation.
Pros: Stereo rather than 5.1, Bluetooth, easy to hook up, and good sound quality. Fast delivery.
Cons: None so far.
for the price, you can`t beat it
Pros: simple hook up, sounds good
Cons: volume doesn't kick-in until you get over 40
Excellent reciever, i have kef 104.2 speakers & they draw a lot of power, & the yamaha rs202 handles them all day long with out overheating.
Pros: Plenty of power, easy set up, great price
Cons: Spring clips for speaker wires are to small for monster cable
Perfect amp for simple application.a/b and a+b switching all I wanted(+200w),powers 2 sets of vintage yamaha NS-A637s.(still going strong).Or just 1 set...zactly what i wanted.+ bluetooth.For the price,can't be beat.
Pros: 2 day shipping, and helpful info from other consumers.outstanding!
It fit into my stereo system without any problems - it had inputs for every feature I used in my old system.
Pros: Price/Ease of Setup/Capabilities
Excellent product can't ask more for the price did not expect great audio autput
Pros: Can't beat the price for a very ggod sound output and bluetooth conectivity
Cons: no optical outlet
Awesome little receiver!! Wanted Bluetooth and A and B speaker options....Boom!!! I got it. Super fast shipping as well!
Cons: Generic spring loaded speaker terminals
Easy to set-up and operate. The Bluetooth works wonderful. The sound is fantastic. Great buy for the money.
Very simple receiver, but excellent sound and capabilities with my setup.
Pros: I replaced a more expensive receiver with this one and it was up and running in about five minutes. The sound and functions are perfect for my outside patio.
Cons: None at the moment.
It's new out of the box and everything works as expected. The test will be 3 to 5 years from now. However as a basic tuner amp. It's fine . I use it to drive 2 older Yamaha 40 amp bookshelf speakers in my work shop . Good for my needs.
Great buy exactly what I wanted for my garage! Good sound and power!
Pros: Very easy set up.
Bought this Yamaha receiver to go with Bose outdoor speakers for my back yard pool. The fenced pool area is about 1/2 acre and this receiver pushes enough power through the Bose speakers to ROCK the pool. It is Bluetooth and has two speaker zones- exactly what I was looking for. I am very pleased with the performance.
Pros: Bluetooth, two speaker zones
Cons: None so far
Great product with simple design at a great price
Product arrived quickly. Worked perfect right out of the box. Great sound. Bluetooth set up quickly and continues to function perfectly. Would recommend this product for anyone not wanting to spend thousands on a system.
Pros: All good
Cons: None that I have found
Perfect unit, the Crutchfield team diagnosed probable issue with my prior unit and recommended this Yamaha. Use it for entertainment around my pool area, sits in my garage, hooked to Boston Acoustic outdoor speakers. Very pleased !!
Works great....use in my garage powering two sets of klipsch outdoor speakers.....sound is great
Pros: Good price.....great quality
This has turned out to be the perfect unit for my use on the porch with ceiling speakers. The main reason I bought it was the Bluetooth features but, it has great capture of area FM the value price was a plus for risky use outdoors. This is a much better unit than the price would indicate. KRM
Pros: Easy to use and set up ,great quality and capture.
Works great. Bought for a garage stereo.
I got my receiver quickly, as is usual for a Crutchfield purchase. After unboxing it and plugging the thing into the place vacated by my problem child receiver, I turned it on and man, does this thing blast. After setting the spectrum as I like it, and turning the volume all the way up, I could go lie in the grass in my front yard and contemplate the stellar universe while jamming along with Blue Cheer and the Yardbirds.
Pros: Easy setup, groovy instructions, good sound, what more could one want?
Cons: I can't think of any, unless I wanted to convince myself that the receiver should provide free drinks.
This Yamaha receiver is a great little unit for the price. Everything works as advertised. I got it to replace and old Teac unit because I wanted Bluetooth which worked right out of the box.
Pros: Bluetooth, great features for the price.
Cons: none so far
Easy to use with an old school feel, sounds great on my new outdoor speakers and makes my crappy old Garage pair on B sound like new, could not be more thrilled. At that price point, a no brainer!
Pros: Bluetooth, remote.
Cons: gives me no reason to by better speakers.
Exactly what I was looking for. Basic features, nice remote, love the Bluetooth!
Bought this to dedicate for my outdoor patio speakers. Great sound with my 8" woofer speakers. Bluetooth made it even more desirable. Great stereo if you don't need or want surround sound or home theater.
Pros: Built in Bluetooth Great sound Quality build Reasonably priced
I need a basic stereo amplifier with BlueTooth connectivity for my bedroom, to play music in my phone from the comfort of my bed. I have this hooked up to a pair of low end Psb bookshelf speakers and it does the job very well. I would have given it 5 stars if it also had a subwoofer output. This receiver is excellent value for money.
Pros: BlueTooth connectivity Excellent value for money
Cons: No subwoofer output
This Yamaha receiver R-S202 is a very basic Receiver with Bluetooth. The front panel looks great but when you see the back panel you start to wonder if this amp can produce a decent sound. A huge issue here is the spring loaded speaker connects. That technology went out back in the 90's. I gave it about 10 hours of music listening and had an easy decision to make. Took advantage of the Crutchfield return policy by returning this Yamaha receiver and found a quality component to replace it. Once again lesson learned, you get what you pay for.
Pros: -looks from front -digital display
Cons: -spring loaded speaker terminals -build quality -hollow sound akin to cheap plastic receivers

100 Watt x 2 Channel Amplifier: The Yamaha R-R202 stereo receiver employs a 100-watt x 2-channel (40-20kHz, 8-ohms, 0.2% THD) high-drive amplifier with a high sound quality design that minimizes the length of signal routes and optimizes the circuit layout. Yamaha positioned the power transformer near the power amp circuit to reduce power loss, while improving peak power supply capacity to enable high volume output. The signal ground and power supply ground are connected at one point, eliminating mutual interference to achieve a higher S/N ratio. The result is sound filled with clarity and a feeling of openness.
Built-in Bluetooth: The Yamaha R-R202 features built-in Bluetooth (ver 4.1+ EDR), allowing you to stream stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Windows PC/Phone, or Mac laptop/computer to the stereo receiver. In addition to the standard SBC Bluetooth codec, the receiver also supports the AAC codec for higher quality sound from Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad devices. You will still control music playback functions and view song/artist information from your Bluetooth-enabled source device.
Analog Inputs/Output: The Yamaha R-R202 features four analog stereo RCA inputs to connect up to four audio components, and a single stereo RCA record output to connect to a CD-recorder or other recording device.
AM/FM Tuner: The Yamaha R-R202 stereo receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. The R-R202 lets you store up to 40 AM/FM station presets. Auto preset lets you automatically search for and register FM stations that can be received in your area. An indoor FM wire antenna and AM loop antenna are included with the receiver.
A & B Speaker Terminals: The R-R202 is fitted with A & B speaker terminals so you can power up to two pair of speakers. The speaker selector switch on the front-panel of the receiver makes it easy to switch between speaker outputs, allowing you to hear the sound from one speaker pair (A or B) or from both speaker pairs (A+B). In addition, compatible speakers can be bi-wired using the A & B speaker terminals simultaneously (they are wired in parallel). The eight spring-clip speaker terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG) and pin-connectors.
|Speaker Connection||Speaker Impedance|
|Speakers A or B||8-ohm or higher|
|Speakers A and B||16-ohm or higher|
|Bi-wiring||8-ohm or higher|
Headphone Jack: The stereo receiver has a standard 1/4" headphone jack on the front panel for private listening. When headphones are plugged in, the receiver's speaker output is not muted, so remember to turn the A and B speakers off.
Tone Control: The Yamaha R-R202 offers Bass, Treble, and Balance adjustment. Bass & Treble can be adjusted independently from -10dB to + 10dB. Balance can be set between Left+10 and Right+10.
Max/Initial Volume: You can set the maximum volume level of the receiver so that its volume will not be accidentally increased above a certain level (01-99, Max). Use the Initial Volume feature to specify the volume level when the receiver's power is turned on. You can select 01-99, Max, Mute, or Off. When "Off" is selected, the volume level used when the receiver was turned off will be applied.
IR Remote: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of the stereo receiver and a connected Yamaha CD receiver.
Sleep Timer: Use the Sleep timer to automatically set this unit to standby mode after a certain amount of time (30/60/90/120 mins). The sleep timer is useful when you are going to sleep while listening to the receiver.
Power Management: A power management function automatically cuts off the power (switches to standby mode) when the receiver has not been operated for a long time. It can be set to two, four, eight or 12 hours, or off. In addition, power consumption during standby is only 0.5 W, achieving good energy saving performance.

I chose for cost and features. I have not be disappointed, except there is no true equalizer. All works well, and sounds very good. Great sound requires an equalizer, but maybe not worth the cost. I have been told I'm "old school" on the equalizer thing. It's been suggested to get a sound bar. Not me. I'm an old sound man that knows how to use a good 16 ch. equalizer. [ Robert May 23, 2017 ]

My Marantz receiver was getting old and tired. The best music player is my laptop with Winamp, which can repeat many ways plus shuffle, so I didn't need HDMI. Built in multi-band EQ in Winamp and GOM give me plenty of flexibility whether coming off the headphone jack, a USB sound adapter, or now it will be bluetooth. Your tech and one at Yamaha helped me sort out that the bluetooth transmitter dongle I ordered is compatible. Nice to know something will work before you buy. [ Gary Mar 02, 2017 ]

The Yamaha R-S202 is a stereo receiver; and I'm afraid it does not include any HDMI and/or digital audio inputs for your cable box or Blu-ray player. For more assistance on selecting a receiver to fit your needs, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks! [ Larry Feb 17, 2018 ] Staff
The Yamaha R-R202 features four analog stereo RCA inputs to connect up to four audio components, and a single stereo RCA record output to connect to a CD-recorder or other recording device. If you'd like to discuss compatibility with your external EQ in more detail, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks! [ Larry Jan 20, 2018 ] Staff
The Yamaha will amplify the full range of audible frequencies but the rated power output (100 watts x 2) was produced with every frequency between 40 & 20,000Hz running through the amp at the same time. Bruce, DIsclaimer: I am not an expert on Bi-Amp speakers. The RS202 allows you to bi-wire the speakers utilizing the A/B speaker outputs as long as the speaker impedance is 8 ohms. If your speaker pair meets the impedance criteria, they will work. However, the RS 202 does not have a separate amp for pure Bi-Amp applications. This is a simple, modestly powered, two channel receiver that works very well with small & efficient speakers. If you want to Bi-Amp, you will have to invest in a more sophisticated receiver or receiver/amp combo. [ Mark Nov 19, 2017 ]
I have only used it by utilizing the Bluetooth capability which is why I purchased it. I use it at a lakeside dock and have never contemplated a usb connection. [ RICHARD Nov 09, 2017 ]
Bluetooth usually has a range of up to 33 feet that it will work. That distance may decrease with the more materials (walls, etc...) that are in between you and this receiver. I've noticed that if Bluetooth can play, then the quality of the audio does not decrease the further away you get. And you can tell when you are on the fringe of the Bluetooth range by either not hearing anything or the connection becomes spotty. If that happens, you will need to move closer to this receiver until you have a contact stream of audio. HTH! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul Oct 31, 2017 ] Staff
The bitrate is not published by Yamaha but the R-S202 does feature Bluetooth version 4.1+EDR (enhanced Data Rate). [ Ryan Sep 09, 2017 ] Staff
I'm not sure about the power at idle but it has no problem pushing my Yamaha tower speakers.great receiver. [ jim Jun 30, 2017 ]
I was in error with my previous post. The standby is simply a sleep function that will turn off the unit after a fixed period of time. So if you want the unit to turn off after, say 2 hours you can set the sleep timer to turn the unit off after that time period. Sorry about the confusion. [ Paul Jun 23, 2017 ]
The unit will automatically play the selected input if a signal is present. This even works for Bluetooth. The only drawback is that it won't go into standby if there is still a signal present on the selected input. This makes sense since its using the presence of a signal to decide to turn on the power stage. If you put it in standby and the input goes away it will remain in standby waiting for the signal until you change the mode to either power "on" or "off". [ Paul Jun 23, 2017 ]
In order to connect two pairs of speakers to the Yamaha R-S202, each pair must be rated at 16-ohm or higher. Yes. The receiver becomes a Bluetooth device that you can select. All you have to really set up are hard wired speakers or other components like a CD player. [ Brian Jun 11, 2017 ]
Almost. You have to connect your speakers and your CD player if you have one. Use up and down tuner buttons to find any radio stations you want. Using the remote, it's easy to pair it with a mobile phone or other Bluetooth device. I found the directions easy to follow. [ Don Jun 11, 2017 ]
Not exactly sure what you mean but just hook up your speakers and your inputs and yea its good to go. [ Bryan Jun 10, 2017 ]
Hi Kara, This Yamaha is a really nice receiver - in my opinion a great value for the money. Just hook up your speakers, plug it in and your ready to go. The Bluetooth is wonderful - if you have a iPhone with music on it, simply "pair" your iPhone to the Yamaha and listen to your music through your speakers. I hope this helps. Joe [ JOSEPH Jun 10, 2017 ]
What do you mean automatic works. ? [ Piero Jun 10, 2017 ]
You will need to connect to speakers, of course, but the connections are very simple and well explained in the manual. The AM and FM radio will work immediately and play through your speakers, unless you need to to attach the enclosed antenna with a simple screwdriver ( if you live in an area with poor radio signals ) will automatically work when you plug the receiver in, turn on the power and select the radio option. The included instruction manual is very straightforward as to how to use your CD player, smartphone or MP3 player or other Bluetooth device to play through the receiver. Once again, you will obviously you need to connect speakers to the receiver, but again, those connections are very simple, and are well explained in the enclosed manual. [ Nathan Scott Jun 10, 2017 ]
When headphones are plugged in, the Yamaha R-S202's outputs (speaker-level and line-level) are *not* automatically muted. For more details or to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Hope that helps! [ Larry Jun 10, 2017 ] Staff
No. The line output is a fixed level and is not affected by the volume control (as you would need it to be for a bi-amp connection). The output is provided for connection to a recording component (cassette, CD, etc.). [ Ryan May 20, 2017 ] Staff
I have two sets of speakers running off the Yamaha R-S202 that work fine. One is a traditional speaker (JBL L26) and the other a set of Def Tech Bi Amp speakers. As I recall, the only thing different was the addition of a connector (sorry I can't recall specifically what this piece is officially referred to) that connects between the two sets of terminals on the Def Techs. They work great - hope this helps - Joe [ JOSEPH Apr 22, 2017 ]
It doesn't have a 110/220 switch on it. Well at least mine doesn't. The manual does state that the "General Model" has a rear voltage selector. You may check with Crutchfield to inquire about ordering that model. [ Duong Apr 20, 2017 ]
hi Colton,I sorry I have no way to accurately measure tones below 40z.What I can tell you is that this amp although obviously not a very powerful one,is very capable of powering a pair of 100w yamaha bookshelf speakers with clarity. For the money and with bluetooth capabilities,I have no complaints.I know this does not answer your particular question, but I just wanted to let you know that this inexpensive amp has all the features I need for the size room it is in and .....hey if you don't like it,look at crutchfiels return policy...you can't lose. [ william Apr 17, 2017 ]
I love the unit with the exception of the volume control needing to be around 35 to here! [ MIKE Apr 08, 2017 ]
It will not connect to your Onkyo receiver wirelessly via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth capability in both the Yamaha and Onkyo are for receiving audio transmitted to them from your Bluetooth devices (smartphone, tablet, etc.); they will NOT transmit audio via Bluetooth to other Bluetooth receivers, Bluetooth speakers or Bluetooth headphones. [ Ryan Apr 05, 2017 ] Staff
The Yamaha R-S202 features built-in Bluetooth that you can stream music from your computer with; but it doesn't include a built-in DAC of note. Using an external DAC or another receiver/amp that has a DAC built-in will likely give you better sound quality. If you would like to discuss those options, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Larry Mar 23, 2017 ] Staff
I use mine for sound from the TV. A lot of it will depend on the TV and it's connectivity. [ Kevin Dec 07, 2017 ]
sure can, I use it in my office with 42 inch that has lousy sound, and the Yamaha sounds great. [ RAMON Feb 23, 2017 ]
Only for sound with rca cables [ Joe Feb 23, 2017 ]
Yes, but it won't be in surround sound. It will only be in 2 channel stereo. [ Walter Feb 22, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. I see the picture you mention from the owner's manual. That is listed as the "General" model, see page 22 of the owner's manual. It appears the North American model we have pictured does not have the voltage selector, so unfortunately that would not be available here. [ Kenny Jan 28, 2017 ] Staff

So far I have connected an iPad and an iPod with no issues. Each device was connected separately and not at the same time. Hope that helps. [ Robert Dec 23, 2016 ]
Not at the same time, no. If the receiver is connected to a Bluetooth device, connecting it to a different Bluetooth device will disconnect it from the the first. [ Daniel Emerson Dec 23, 2016 ]
Certainly, but not all at once. [ DENISE Dec 23, 2016 ]
The Bluetooth can be paired to one device at a time, and it works very nicely. There is just the one Bluetooth channel. [ james Dec 22, 2016 ]
No. if one device is connected/found by the receiver it will not connect to another unless you unpair the first device. I love this receiver though. It is simple and straightforward. Powerful and clear sound. Works great. [ Brian Dec 22, 2016 ]
I'm not sure about doing so at the same time but at different times yes you can. you just have to pair it up with the device. [ DENNIS Dec 21, 2016 ]
Not simultaneously, but I've connected at least 5 different devices including laptops, tablets, and phones. It recognizes them all. [ Chad Dec 21, 2016 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing all the different models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Kenny Dec 19, 2016 ] Staff
It is a powered receiver. Which means all you have to do is hook up the turntable and it will play. I have this unit in my gazebo in the backyard and it works great. I have 2 out door Yamaha speakers hooked up to it. It's a great buy for the price. [ jeff Dec 19, 2016 ]
No it does not have a preamp [ mike Dec 19, 2016 ]
no - my understanding is that a separate pre-amp needs to be plugged in (not a major cost item), but the R-S202 is a great receiver in every respect........ [ neil Dec 19, 2016 ]
No, this unit does not have an integrated phono pre-amp. To connect a turntable, you would need to purchase a separate pre-amp. [ Nathan Scott Dec 19, 2016 ]
Wes - The R-S202 allows you to do either frequency scan or manually select a frequency. When in the manual mode, you can up or down adjust to whatever frequency/channel you want and assign it a pre-set/memory value, regardless of signal strength. This can be done with either the remote or on the tuner face panel. The R-S202 is a great little receiver and I've really enjoyed using it. [ Mark Dec 03, 2016 ]
Sorry, no. The R-S202 does not offer the required monitor loop needed for connecting an external EQ. For that, you would need to step up to the R-S700 model: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_022RS700/item.html I hope that helps. This unit doesn't have subwoofer output [ AVA Oct 26, 2016 ]
Hard to say..I've had it since May and I love it because it's not too complex and cumbersome like the Denon was that I replaced with this unit. I'm only using this unit to drive 4 Polk bookshelf speakers (no subwoofer) and I'm only using it to pump soft jazz throughout the house from Sirius XM...I'm really not using it for home theatre or to really light up my house with loud music...I have as different unit for that!!!...I do like it especially for the price but I'm not sure how it would sound if I had to push it [ JOHN Oct 24, 2016 ]
What type of subwoofer is it powered or no power the receiver should power it [ jim Oct 24, 2016 ]
From an iPhone, yes you can. Not sure about other devices. [ JOHN A Sep 29, 2016 ]
Yes. With my iPhone 6 playing music connected by Bluetooth to the R-S202 the phone volume does control the speaker volume. [ Trevor Sep 29, 2016 ]
You can control the volume the device that is connected via Bluetooth but it does not change the receiver column. [ Walter Sep 29, 2016 ]
Yes you can. [ Robert Sep 29, 2016 ]
The minimum recommended impedance for the R-S202 is 8 Ohms. It will drive 6 Ohm speakers but that would be using the product outside the manufacturer's recommendation and would likely void any warranty coverage. So, I would upgrade to a different model that is 6 Ohm capable. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan Aug 24, 2016 ] Staff
I'm not 100 percent sure, but I think it will. The Yamaha R-S202 is an excellent receiver. [ CHARLES Aug 25, 2016 ]
The receiver is designed to run two sets of 8 ohm speakers. Zone 1, zone 2 or , zones one and two. That would be a 4 ohm load if driving both zones. Overheating at 6ohms should not be a problem IF the unit is in an air conditioned room. I've had an issue with mine overheating but it was in a room with ambient temps over 85°. The unit will take an hour to cool and return to service if it overheats. [ CHUCK Aug 22, 2016 ]
The stereo RCA output is designed to connect a CD-recorder (or other recording device) to the Yamaha receiver; and those connections wouldn't support an external EQ. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159 [ Larry Aug 05, 2016 ] Staff
Its a+b and is 200 watts total wattage great reciever I love it. [ jim Jul 17, 2016 ]
Yes, it's an A and B receiver and it's good for 4 speakers. [ AVA Jul 17, 2016 ]
Not sure about the wattage but I just purchased one. I have it hooked up to four different speakers. It toggles back and forth between A, B, A+B. [ Amy Jul 17, 2016 ]
It is quite powerful and it is of good quality but the downside of it is that is not meant to drive surround sound system. [ SEGUNDO Jul 02, 2016 ]
It's 2 channels, so, no. You want a surround receiver.... [ Kevin Jun 30, 2016 ]
The Yamaha R-S202 is a 2-channel (stereo) amplifier - it is only intended to drive one pair of speakers. If you are trying to set up a multi-channel surround sound system, this would not be the amplifier you would want. [ Steven Jun 30, 2016 ]
Hi Kevin. Yes and no. Here's why: the receiver will drive two pairs of speakers, like Front and Rear, but you will have the same sound from both pairs. With 100 watts per channel there will be 50 watts delivered to each pair. True Surround Sound, like my old trusty Sony Receiver has speaker connections for front and rear speakers and derives a surround sound with an adjustable delay, in milliseconds, to make a discernible, echo effect. It also features three different kinds of effect (Hall, Dolby and Studio) .I only replaced it because the Yamaha has Bluetooth capability. I am only using one pair of Bose 301 speakers on the Yamaha, left over from the Sony. So give your Yamaha two pairs and select Spekers A and speaker B and see if you like it. Thanks for asking. Hope this helps. [ Rongel Jun 29, 2016 ]
This is not a surround sound receiver. It is a stereo receiver. Left, Right channels only. No outputs for Center, Rear L, Rear R, or Sub channels. Works great though for my 2 outdoor speakers on the back deck! [ David Jun 29, 2016 ]
its quite powerful but keep in mind it's only two channels. [ israel Jun 29, 2016 ]
Not really. It is a simple 2 channel (stereo) receiver. There is also no subwoofer output connection. [ Trevor Jun 29, 2016 ]
It's only 2 channels. If you want to run a full surround get 5.1 or 7.1. A 5.1 receiver will have five channels of amplification and an unamplified subwoofer channel (subs are self-powered and therefore do not require amplification by your receiver). Some receivers include additional channels of amplification, and could support 7.1 [ Dannil Jun 29, 2016 ]
