Average Customer Review(s):
Excellent. LOVE IT. But very lacking in hook up instructions! Thank God 4 Crutchfield Tech. Support!!!
Pros: GREAT sound & function.
Cons: Hook up instructions.
has met all my expectations
Great sound from the TV and music is awesome. Easy to set up and enjoy!
Very disappointed to find the USB playback will not shuffle play across folders, only within any folders. I use USB to carry my music between home and car. Hard to believe my car player does a better job.
The amplifier is great. I only have two complaints. One is that the "Scenes" are locked on the inputs - I can't set "Scene 1" to HDMI 1 Drama DSP and "Scene 2" to HDMI 1 Sci Fi DSP. The second is the android app - It sometimes can't find the receiver, unless I reboot my tablet. Also, I cannot find where the playlists for the internal music server (the music function in the upper right hand corner). I would love to be able to use (or even share) playlists with PowerAmp or other music players.
Pros: The ability to control my receiver via an app is why I bought this device. It works well, mostly.
Cons: Would like some more flexibility in the control functions.
So far so good...
It works great, thanks to aid of your troops at chuchfield
Very well made at a affordable price. Replaced another Yamaha that I had for 12 years.
Pros: Easy to use, easy to set up, easy upgrade to 4K HDR.
4 out of 5 because the instructions were a bit incomplete. Thanks to the professionals at Crutchfield, I got it set up how I needed it. really good receiver!
Pros: Really good product.
Cons: Instructions left something to be desired.
I only use the basic functions of this receiver but I really like what I see so far. This receiver is capable of far more than I will ever use. Recommended.
Solid overall receiver; good sound & easy setup. Wired connectivity not as thorough as others (no component video, limited hdmi ports). Having some trouble with older gaming system hdmi video feed being altered when run through receiver. Ability to use AVR remote to control other components limited compared to other receivers I've used. Overall solid value.
This receiver along with Klipsch speakers will blow you away.
Pros: Outstanding sound & features
Cons: You'll be sorry you waited so long to buy this
Everything works as expected. Setup was straightforward and the app works well.
Easy set up to internet. Clear powerful sound even when you turn up at higher volume. In my opinion the Best feature is the Bluetooth connectivity. Bluetooth to phone ,Alexa awesome!
Excellent value for the $$
Very easy to setup and app makes connecting to multiple sources (iPhone, iMac, internet radio, etc.) very simple. Highly recommend this product.
Pros: Easy setup App
Works great, easy to install and configure. Wish there was an extra HDMI connection but it's not really necessary. Just a backup. Highly recommend.
Did a lot of research and found this amp to be just what I needed for our small space. Since I value fidelity over volume, this unit fits the bill. My only issue is that it's nearly impossible to read the front panel because of the designer's choice of non-contrasting labeling. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.
A very flexible, centralizing piece of AV equipment. Have only just begun to use all the features. Simple to hook up (including WiFi) with well-labeled, solid connectors, especially speaker wire connectors. Panoramic mike for one-time sound-level setting was a bit mind-blowing. Works seamlessly with TV that has internet smarts/streaming, cable set-top box, and Blu-Ray player, with room for many more items, including gaming and camera connections, wired or wireless with BlueTooth and WiFi other AV equipement.
Pros: Ease and features
Cons: didn't buy it sooner!
An acceptable price but set up does not have true "change" quality. Meaning,,, I reduced the front and center speaker so I could hear the rear. A small change but, but not much. With that said, with the max rear volume and less than 1/2 on front and center you do not hear true quality from the front.
Pros: Fair price
Cons: Poor ability to balance the speakers
This receiver has far more features than I will probably ever use. So why am I giving it only 4 stars? Problems connecting wifi with this unit. The problem is that when I turn on the receiver in the morning get dreaded message "Network not available". Only solution seems to be unplugging unit for a few minutes to reset it and then plug it back in. Not convenient having to move the entertainment center every morning. My Roku stick and Grace internet receiver never experience these drops. This is the work-around courtesy of Spotify user forum: 10/29/2017 Solved: Spotify Connect & Yamaha Reciever problems - See t... - The Spotify Community https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/Spotify-Connect-amp-Yamaha-Reciever-problems-See-the-device-but/td-p/993694 3/15 1: Copy all your network information from your receiver (Press setup on your remote -> Go to network setup -> Information -> Write your network settings down except DNS) 2: Turn off the DHCP-setting (Setup -> Network Setup -> IP-adress -> DHCP OFF (When you turn DHCP to OFF you can press the down button afterwards)) 3: Change your IP-Adress, Subnet and Gateway to the values you've written down before. Then change DNS (P) to 18.104.22.168 and DNS (S) to 22.214.171.124. This is the dns to Google. 4: Exit the setup by pressing the return button. Now the problem should be gone connect should work as before. My note: you may have to setup a static ip address at router based on mac addre
Great receiver, easy to set up.
I have owned several Yamaha products and have always found them to be good values. The RX-V483 is no exception. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive models, but for my 5.1, small room video projector system it does the job well and has a lot of bang for the buck. I see some reviewers complain about the remote, but I use a Harmony hub to control everything and it recognized this right away.
Awesome! Yamaha means Great Quality! It took me a while to shop for AV Receiver since I want one not only great for movies but for music. This is a powerful AV receiver which does its job on giving me great sound effect on Movies, but I have to say I really enjoy using it for Music. It is perfectly paired with the Yamaha CD Player I bought. The built of the Receiver is solid and it is very easy to set up the sound with YPAO. Love the APPs that pair with the system (Music Cast, AV Controller and AV Guide).
Pros: Economical! Solid performance! Great Entry Level Receiver! Easy to Set up!
Cons: It would be great to have 2 more HDMI inputs... U can get that with a higher model such as 683.
Works as described. Has more features than I will probably ever use. Really like the Net Radio.
Pros: Many features. Easy to set up; very intuitive and great display helps.
Cons: For throughput of cable box, need to turn off when unit is on the HDMI input of the box. Cannot control AVR with Cable remote; remote will only turn off and control volume but will not turn AVR on or control any other feature of unit.
This reciever did not marry together my smart tv and direct tv genie as I would have hoped. With extensive discussions with Crutchfield tech support team; unable to turn on all three compenents with one button & begin watching. Have to go through a series commands on Yamaha remote to start the viewing. Not exactly as I invisioned. A pain to educate the family all steps involved. Should have bought something else.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 8/22/2017 We're sorry you're disappointed with your receiver. If the problem continues, please just reach back out to our tech support team. They can either help get it working the way it should, or possibly return it for an exchange or refund within 60 days of the purchase.
The Yamaha is excellent. Very nice sound, easy set up. It just works. This replaced an older Yamaha that was finally failing after several years. The new features on this unit, like Apple airplay and full Bluetooth, are easy to use and nice to have. The YPAO automatic adjustment was a breeze and gave me a nicely tuned system. Absolutely perfect for a modestly priced receiver.
Pros: Superior value at a low price
Cons: None at all.
I wanted a 5.1 receiver with wifi and bluetooth. I expected to get good FM reception and internet radio. I was disappointed in both. It does not directly support Spotify with Tidal and Deezer both subscription services. After a firmware update, Pandora is supported. I had thought this receiver would support IHeart or Slacker or AccuRadio or other additional free radio apps but no, I must use my mobile device or tablet app to receive the stations and then bluetooth to play through the receiver. Also I disappointed with the FM receiver sensitivity. I cannot receive stations from Fredericksburg (35 miles to the south) nor from Baltimore (25 miles to the north) even though I can receive them on all other radios in the house and car! I've tried placing the long line antenna in every conceivable position but to no avail. Lastly are the littel annoyances. On the remote, the TV button selects AUDIO1 as the input. I had to reprogram it to HDMI 2 for the cable box. I needed access to much of the manual and without a laptop computer it is near impossible to read and program the necessary features of the receiver. I know Yamaha is trying to reduce paper but a hard copy of the manual is required if you want to get the most out of the receiver. I think there are better equipped Audio/Video receivers then the Yamaha RX-V483.
Pros: Sounds good
Cons: Poor FM sensitivity and lacks internet music appsCrutchfield response on 7/24/2017 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to George to help him further. We'll either help him get the receiver working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
Don't like that all the surround channels have 5 individual volume controls, too much work to adjust. If the (front left and right) (center) (surround left and right) were the volume sets it would be perfect. The HDMI pass through only works if you first turn on the receiver then turn it off to use televisions own speakers, a pass thru should just pass through when the receiver is off. The bluetooth works great. Wish there was a bass and treble analog dial controls. Sound is good.
Pros: Sound is good
Cons: HDMI pass thru is not a true pass thru No analog Bass and Treble controls
An OK AV receiver for the price. Timely firmware updates is a plus. However, while it has standby pass-through on the HDMI, it does not "automatically" use the pass-through that sees signal. You have to remember to revert back to the TV input each time, or it won't pass TV signal through. My 8 year old Pioneer receiver would automatically switch back!
Pros: Price True 5.1
Cons: HDMI passthrough is awkward. Must be set to the input you want before poering off
I was blown away by how much I love this AV receiver. My old Marantz was working just fine but when I move to a more open concept house putting speakers up was totally not possible. So I put all the speakers up front and delayed the surround sound backs a little. It was okay. However, I had a few issues with this. First my center speaker was having a difficult time filling the space. I upgraded it to the Polk Audio TSi CS10 which I got here at Crutchfield. Still I had to turn volume up to loud and disturb the rest of the house. I'm writing the review which I normally don't do because I can't believe I'm the only was with this issue. Enter the Yamaha RX-V483. I pre-ordered this because some of it's features. I wanted the virtual surround and liked that is was only a 5-1 which saved on the price. What I didn't expect was how much I would love the Yahama AV controller app.
Pros: The APP - you can control the entire receiver from any smart phone The Virtual surround - It works great. I don't know how and don't care. Probably won't be good enough for an audiophile but perfect for the rest of us. Center Channel Trim - You can add a little extra volume to the dialog so you can hear whispers in an action movie with waking house. MusicCast - Didn't even know what this was until I got the receiver. Now I'm putting speaker in other parts of the house because I can.
Cons: You can change the DSP from the app. There are plenty of options and you can even customize it a little to fit your sitting arrangement. You can make it sound awesome. The con about this is. Every movie or sports program requires a different DSP to sound awesome. There is no "GOOD Enough" setting to set and forget, IMHO.

Yamaha's Total Purity Concept: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV Receiver incorporates Yamaha's Total Purity Concept for the finest sound quality. The Total Purity Concept, which Yamaha has been cultivating for many years, encompasses high drive amp technology, high purity pre-amplification, anti-vibration technology, and independent pure power supplies. As a result, this AV receiver can provide high-quality sound for your movie & music soundtracks.
Amplifier Assignment: The Yamaha RX-V483 allows you to assign its five amplifier channels for surround speakers, bi-amped front speakers, or Zone B speakers.
YPAO Sound Optimization: This unit employs the YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer), which automatically adjusts the output of the speakers based on placement, performance, and the room's acoustic characteristics. Yamaha's YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters; such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers, and even the volume level; until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room. Using the supplied Optimizer Microphone, YPAO performs the following checks and makes appropriate adjustments to give you the best possible sound from your system.
Note: You can also choose to manually adjust the AV receiver's speaker, crossover, & EQ settings.
Compatible Digital Audio Formats: The AV receiver supports the following stereo & multichannel digital audio formats through its HDMI jacks and optical/coax digital inputs.
|Digital Audio Connector||Audio Signal Type||Audio Signal Format|
|HDMI||2Ch Linear PCM||2ch, 32-192kHz, 16/20/24-bit|
|Multichannel Linear PCM||8ch, 32-192kHz, 16/20/24-bit|
|DSD||2-6ch, 2.8824MHz, 1-bit|
|Bitstream||Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS ES, DTS 96/24|
|High Definition Audio Bitstream||Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution, DTS Express|
|Optical/Coaxial||2Ch Linear PCM||2ch, 32-96kHz, 16/20/24-bit|
|Multichannel Linear PCM||6ch, 32-96Hz, 16/20/24-bit|
|Bitstream||Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS ES, DTS 96/24|
Note: Even though the AV receiver will decode 7.1ch surround sound (via HDMI), it will only output 5.1ch surround, because it lacks Surround Back channel speaker outputs.
Post Decoding Formats: The Yamaha AV receiver supports Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II (Movie/Music/Game), and DTS Neo: 6 (Music/Cinema) to enhance 2-channel and multichannel decoding formats. The receiver offers the additional Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS NEO:6 audio adjustments.
Cinema DSP Soundfields: Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha Cinema DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent soundfields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialog, music and effects ideally located in these separate soundfields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater. The AV receiver offers 17 Cinema DSP programs for movies, music, and games.
Note: You can change the receiver's Cinema DSP effect level (level of the soundfield effect to be added). You can adjust the level of the soundfield effect from -6 dB to +3 dB.
Cinema DSP Modes: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver offers proprietary Yamaha Cinema modes so you can enjoy your movies and music even more in your home; regardless if you are using 5.1 speaker setup, only have a two-channel speaker system, or listening through headphones.
HiFi Sound Modes: The Yamaha RX-V483 offers two HiFi audio modes which bypass the receiver's tone & DSP processing for higher sound quality performance. These HiFi sound modes lets you play back input sources without any soundfield effect processing. When either of theses modes are enabled, each speaker produces its own channel audio signal (without soundfield processing). When playing back 2-channle sources, such as a CD player, stereo sound is heard from the front speakers. When playing back multichannel sources, the receiver produces unprocessed multichannel surround sound.
Compressed Music Enhancer: Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3, WMA, AAC, & Bluetooth (SBC/AAC). The Yamaha receiver's Compressed Music Enhancer feature is even optimized for Bluetooth wireless audio streaming. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life to be as close to the original as possible.
Dialogue Level: Dialogue Level Adjustment lets you control the volume of the vocal sound, so you hear movie dialog and music vocals at the ideal level for clear, comfortable listening.
Dynamic Range Control: The Yamaha RX-V483 employs two Dynamic Range Control functions.
Bass Management: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver provides the following Bass Management settings.
Volume Setup: The Yamaha RX-V483 allows you to customize the receiver's volume levels.
Audio Outputs: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver is fitted with binding-post speaker terminals and a mono-sub/LFE output, along with a front-panel headphone jack.
Front-Panel Aux Input: The RX-V483 features a front-panel Aux input (3.5mm) for connecting your portable audio player with a headphone output.
HDMI 2.0a: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver is fitted with four HDMI 2.0a inputs and one HDMI 2.0a output that support the latest HDMI standards; such as 4K/60Hz, HDCP 2.2, 4:4:4 color subsampling, HDR (High Dynamic Range), and Wide Color Gamut (BT.2020) for full support of today's 4K content from Ultra HD Blu-ray, online video services (like Amazon & Netflix), and future TV broadcast services.
Note: Use a premium high-speed 18Gbps HDMI cable for the best 4K/HDR performance.
HDR (High Dynamic Range): The Yamaha RX-V483 support HDR (high dynamic range) Video - including HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and Hybrid Log-Gamma. HDR (High Dynamic Range Video) provides enhanced picture quality by simultaneously enabling greater detail for both the dark and bright parts of an image. HDR reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, creating greater contrast. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth.
Note: Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma will require a firmware update.
HDMI Video Upscaling (up to 4K): The Yamaha AV receiver's video processor provides upscaling of 1080p HDMI video sources to 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160 pixels). The receiver does not offer analog-to-HDMI upconversion.
Other HDMI Features: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver's HDMI connectivity also offers 3D video pass-through, ARC (Audio Return Channel), Deep Color & x.v.Color support, as well as an auto LipSync function.
Composite Video: The receiver features three composite video inputs and one composite video monitor output. These composite video jacks only support 480i video. The composite video inputs must be output via the composite video monitor output (there is no HDMI upconversion).
Background Audio/Video: The Background Video feature allows you to watch a video source while listening to a different audio source. With the RX-V483, you can select any video input (HDMI or analog) and listen to audio via the receiver's AM/FM tuner, Aux input, Network, or Bluetooth.
Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Yamaha AV receiver is fitted with a RJ-45 Ethernet (LAN) port to connect the receiver to your home network. The unit also offers built-in WiFi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n; 2.4GHz) for a wireless network connection; WPS, WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES), WPA2-PSK (AES) security protection is supported. Either network connection gives the receiver access to your DLNA music server, AirPlay, MusicCast, and various online music services. Wireless network setup can be done via WPS button, Access Point Scan, Manual Setting, PIN Code, or even through your Apple iOS device (5.0+).
Note: Network setup requires that the receiver be connected to your TV via HDMI for display of the on-screen menu. The receiver's network setup cannot be accessed through its front-panel display.
Online Music Services: The Yamaha RX-V483 offers access to Internet Radio through its built-in Airable by TuneIn, your Spotify Premium account through Spotify Connect on your Apple iOS or Android device, and your Pandora, TIDAL, or Deezer music account through Yamaha's MusicCast app.
DLNA + WiFi Direct: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver supports music streaming from WiFi-enabled devices (via WiFi Direct) and DLNA certified devices (via your home network). Supported music files include - WAV/FLAC/AIFF (up to 192kHz/24-bit), ALAC (up to 96kHz/24-bit), MP3/WMA/AAC (up to 48kHz/320kbps), and DSD (2.8/5.6MHz).
AM/FM Tuner: The Yamaha RX-V483 AV receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. The RX-V483 lets you store up to 40 AM/FM station presets. You can set this receiver to automatically match FM broadcast frequencies in stereo, or convert the frequency to monaural for weaker stations. An indoor FM wire antenna and AM loop antenna are included with the receiver.
Web Control: When connected to your network (with Internet connection), you can control the Yamaha AV receiver with the web control screen displayed in your PC's web browser. You'll be able to control functions such as, Power On/Off & Volume. Internet Explorer 9.x, 10.x, 11.x, or Safari 7.x is recommended for web browser.
Firmware Updates: New firmware will be released for the purpose of additional features or product improvements. Firmware updates can be downloaded from the Yamaha website. If this unit is connected to the Internet, the receiver will indicate when a new firmware version is available and you can download the firmware via the network connection. Firmware updates normally take approximately 20 minutes or longer. Check Yamaha's Support Download Site for the most recent firmware updates.

Your Apple iOS or Android device must be connected to the same home network as the Yamaha AV receiver.
MusicCast App: The free MusicCast app can be downloaded onto your Apple (iOS 9.0+) iPod/iPhone/iPad and Android (OS 4.1+) smartphones/tablets. The MusicCast app puts control of your whole home listening experience in the palm of your hand from your Apple iOS or Android device. Once you have completed the setup guide, settings from this app will automatically be copied to your network-connected AV receiver for quick and easy setup.
Remote Control: The receiver comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of this receiver and other HDMI-connected sources (via HDMI CEC). This newly designed remote control features large buttons for enhanced ease of use.
HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control): The Yamaha AV receiver supports HDMI-CEC, which synchronizes the operation of this unit with other HDMI-CEC devices when connected via HDMI. When the AV receiver is connected to a HDMI-CEC compatible TV, they will turn ON/OFF together and you can use the TV remote to control the volume of the receiver. HDMI-CEC also provides playback functionality with other components, such as your Blu-ray player. For example, you can use the receiver's remote control to operate player functions like Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, or Stop.
Note: Not all HDMI-CEC compatible components and functions are guaranteed to work.
Alexa Compatible (Firmware Update Required): Alexa-enabled devices (including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap and Echo Show) will soon be able to control key functions of a MusicCast system using voice commands. A firmware update (available early 2018), will be available for download that allows key functions of MusicCast products to be controlled using your voice through Alexa-enabled devices (sold separately).
Note: You will need an Alexa-enabled device (Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, or Echo Show - all sold separately) to operate certain functions of your MusicCast products via voice-command. The MusicCast components and the Alex-enabled devices must be on the same network.
On-Screen Menu: The RX-V483 offers an on-screen menu system via its HDMI output. This clean and simple interface makes setup and other operations extremely easy. If your TV is connected to the composite video monitor output, you will need to use the AV receiver's front-panel display when changing settings. You can set the receiver's on-screen menu language to English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, or Chinese. The front-panel display only offers English.
Note: Initial setup requires that the receiver be connected to your TV via HDMI for display of the on-screen menu. Many of the receiver's setup functions can only be found via the on-screen menu and not the front-panel display.
Scene (for One-Touch Start): The RX-V483 features four Scene buttons on the front-panel and remote to make operating the receiver easier. Pressing a Scene button will automatically launch a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button; such as powering on the receiver, switching to the appropriate source input, and recalling the selected DSP surround mode.
Gapless Playback: Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music. Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard. Compatible with WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and ALAC music files via USB or DLNA.
Favorites: You can register up to 40 favorite USB music files, internet radio stations, and/or other network music content as shortcuts ("Favorites") and access them directly. Only the input source will be registered for Bluetooth and AirPlay.
Input Rename & Skip: The receiver automatically creates an input source name that is displayed on the front-panel screen for connected HDMI-compatible sources. You can also manually rename each input so the display reflects the actual source. If an input isn't being used, you can hide it from the display so you don't have to scroll past it when you change sources.
Display Dimmer: You can set the brightness of the front-panel display from -4 to 0.
ECO Mode: When the ECO Mode is enabled, you can reduce the receiver' power consumption by keeping the maximum volume, maximum output power, and front display's brightness low. ECO mode reduces power consumption by approximately 20%.
Timers: The receiver offers a programmable Sleep Timer and Auto Power Down function.
Memory Guard: This feature is used to prevent accidental changes to the DSP program parameter values and other system settings.

Need 5.1, 4K and HDCP 2.2. The price is right, has some extra features that I think I will utilize. I trust Yamaha as a brand over other entry level offerings. [ Joshua Apr 06, 2018 ]

I have an 80's vintage NAD receiver that I love. Unfortunately, it came along well before HDMI so I need a replacement. I need a basic unit and this Yamaha seems to be what I need. I grew up in the music business so I'm familiar with Yamaha quality. (Also owned one of their motorcycles!) I look forward to HDMI, 4K, and loud rock! [ Mallory Mar 05, 2018 ]
This product met my price point. [ shawn Mar 04, 2018 ]
I provided Chad with details as to my current configuration/environment and what i was hoping to accomplish. Chad came back with a product/solution he felt would be the best solution for my needs. I appreciate his configuring a solution for me which met my objectives without buying more than what was needed for my environment. [ J DAVID Mar 03, 2018 ]

WOLF RECOMMENDED IT TO ME AND I AM A FAN OF YAMAHA [ tom Feb 06, 2018 ]
Prefer this solution over Denon's and Sony's WiFi solutions. Using Yamaha's MusicCast, we can play music from the turntable and other sources over WiFi to a MusicCast capable speaker in the office at the other end of the house without having to run 100' of speaker cable. [ Adam Feb 05, 2018 ]

upgrade existing receiver to handle HDMI and upgrade whole house music wiring to wireless. Works good so far. Some dropped music at times especially when 3 linked stations to the base. had issue with getting lip sync to work correctly on TV, but as always crutchfield support are there to help, had to call Yamaha for solution, then called me back and didn't let me off the line until we verified everything working. I've been looking for a new digital solution for my (mainly music) system. HDMI for occasional Roku, Tidal streaming, coax for my aging Linn CD player, analog input for my turntable. I'm not ready to drop serious cash on a DAC that will integrate with my existing stereo amp and include HDMI input (think the $2000 NAD M51). This Yamaha offers all the functionality I need in one box, I've not heard the amp section but I'm hoping it's at least as good as a budget NAD 316BEE. [ STEVE May 14, 2017 ]
brand, impressed that it is still the company that made the piano that it will be near. Also big display, lots of power and bluetooth [ steven May 09, 2017 ]

According to owners manual 120v only for US and Canadian models. The so-called general version and Asia model are variable to 240v. [ Gregory Jun 15, 2018 ]
While Yamaha does offer a 240V option for other parts of the world, the USA and Canada model is 120V, 60 Hz. [ JOSEPH Jun 15, 2018 ]
Yes you can turn the unit on and off with the app, and you can also make adjustments to your speakers, and subwoofer. I don't use Alexa, so unfortunately I can't answer [ John David Mar 07, 2018 ]
The Yamaha Android app will turn the unit on and off, plus control input selection, volume, etc. provided you are on the same WiFi network as the receiver. I cannot answer the Alexa question as I do not own one. [ JOSEPH Mar 07, 2018 ]
