Overview

Our take on the Blaupunkt 66.3X

Why listen to your old factory speakers when a nice upgrade is within reach? Blaupunkt combines its reputation for reliability with modern design in their GT Power Series speaker line.
These GT Power Series 66.3X 3-way speakers feature 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer cones that deliver accurate, full-bodied sound. Mylar tweeters and midrange cones reproduce the vocal and instrumental details smoothly and cleanly. The 3-ohm impedance safely draws a little more power from your car radio or amplifier. And the signature blue color offers a look as distinct as Blaupunkt's legacy sound.

Do not fit with provided harness

2006 Honda Civic LX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Do not fit in a Honda Civic 2006, either front door or back deck, with the adapter supplied by Crutchfield (American International HSB524 Speaker Mounting Brackets). The basket is about 1/4" to 1/2" too deep, and the large magnet and awkward placement of the terminal (where the wires connect) mean that you cannot connect the speaker to the wiring harness. I did not get to hear them, so I'm giving a 5 star rating to give them the benefit of the doubt.

2006 Isuzu i280
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgraded from 6.5 speakers to these Blaupunkt 6.75 all around. Could not be more satisfied. The sound level and clarity is awesome. Good bass response. I have a 2006 Isuzu i-280. Basically a Colorado. I recently purchased and installed Blaupunkt Brisbane 230 which fit beautifully. Needed a cheap upgrade to my speakers at the time so I put in some cheap "300watt" speakers.....crap. Upgrading to these Blaupunkt 66.3X was the best decision I could have made. What a difference. Night and day. I was advised that they would not fit. I had to make some alterations with bolt pattern in the rear and depth in the front. Better than I expected. Thank you.

Pros: Awesome, loud, clear. Very reasonable price.

Cons: Some minor alterations to make fit. Not the speakers fault...I knew that going in.

Great speakers, Great service

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers for the money. They are hooked up to a JVC X50BT head unit in my 1998 Grand Cherokee. The free wiring harness from Crutchfield worked perfectly. Changing the speakers in my Jeep requires removing all four door panels. I did the whole job in less than two hours. Bass, mid, and treble reproduce brilliantly, and maximizes the function of my simple three-band EQ. In my case I had to drill three new holes in the doors for each speaker, but I was expecting that. No big deal. Can't say enough good things about Crutchfield customer support. The written documentation they supplied with the product was more than enough to answer any questions and do the job right. Crutchfield ROCKS!!

Pros: Great sound, easy install. Best customer service in the industry.

Cons: None

Great sound, Crutchfield fitment off

2007 Honda Civic LX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the factory rear deck and door speakers in my 07 civic. Crutchfield stated that they would fit my vehicle, which the did after quite a bit of modifications. I had to modify the factory speaker grille, the metal surround in my deck lid and door had to be trimmed and bent to allow fitment. With that being said, the speakers sound pretty good. They have a decent bass response for 6.5s, the mids and highs are crisp up to 3/4 volume. I'm impressed with the sound for the price range.

Pros: Sound great Good Bass response for 6.5s Mids and Highs are crisp Good Value

Cons: No cons for speakers themselves. Had to modify car metal and factory speaker grille to get to fit. Crutchfield stated they would fit. It makes me think they haven't tested fitment.

99 VW Jetta III (Mexico Made)

DerekM from Austin Texas on 12/13/2012

1999 Volkswagen Jetta
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

OK, I'm not sure who decides what "Fit" means, but Crutchfield missed the mark on this one; at least on my Jetta. The first issue I found was that the thickness of the soundproofing material on the back deck is way to thick to use the screws included in the box. The second issue I noticed is that even without the aforementioned issue, the Blaupunkt speaker grill doesn't cover the cut outs where the screws go through to connect to the body fully The third issue, is that I have tweeters on the back deck, but no second connector. I finally figured out how to make it work after about 3 hours of working on it. My suggestion would be to keep the plastic OEM housing that the speakers set in after removing the OEM speaker grill (if you want to use it, use a hair drier to heat up the glue to remove without damage), these speakers do fit into the housing (Note: the allen bolts holding the speaker to the OEM plastic housing are lefty tighty and righty loosy), , and then buy new #8 2 1/2 or 3 inch screws from your local hardware store to ensure you have a long enough screw to get to the body attachment. I couldn't find #8 screws in that length, only #10, so I had to drill out both the Blaupunkt speaker grill and the OEM plastic housing. I haven't yet installed with this configuration, as I ran out of daylight, but I think this configuration is going to be the best route.

Pros: Great sound, even when not fully mounted (see above). Thought I'd share this funny... The speakers are so good, that they actually "thumped" out my connection to my dashboard speaker, and I lost sound on that side of the car in the front until I figured out what had happened. :-)

Cons: If you have the same year (1998/99) Jetta III, I suggest you take out one of the rear speakers and do a lil math to measure the total depth from the top of speaker housing to the bottom and add at least a quarter or half an inch so you can get a good grip on the body. You will save yourself a lot of headaches that way
