Clean and simple doesn't have to mean stripped down. Blaupunkt's easy-to-use London MP37 CD receiver presents a refined appearance, but it also boasts plenty of attractive features with lots of options for system upgrades.
Blaupunkt places the front-panel controls where they're easy to reach, so you won't have to fumble around while you're driving. The adjustable Variocolor display offers 4,096 different color choices to match your car or your mood. You'll find a convenient auxiliary input on the fold-down face for hooking up a portable MP3 player or plug-and-play satellite radio.
A sturdy amp kicks out the tunes, assisted by three preset EQ curves and an adjustable bass boost to refine the overall sound. Front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs give you plenty of room to expand with external amps.
Augment your musical choices with Blaupunkt's iPod® adapter. Or add Blaupunkt's optional Bluetooth® adapter it lets you use your Bluetooth wireless phone hands-free while you drive, and gives you a USB port for a portable music player or other USB storage device.
Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Fits perfect and factory gate still works and hides the radio...Radio EQ is nice too-
I bought this stereo for my BMW 325is, in no small part due to the fact that it has such a large range of display colors. I'm trying to keep the interior of my car as clean and matched as possible, so being able to get the display color to exactly match the rest of the panel lights is important. After getting the stereo and installing it, I've discovered that the display color is icing on the cake for an all-around great unit. The front auxiliary port is perfect, and in my opinion much better than a dedicated iPod connection, because it allows you to easily hook up any device. The sound quality is great; I immediately noticed a difference as soon as I turned it on - and that's with the stock speakers. The controls are easy to use and self-explanatory, and the settings menu provides a number of useful features, such as a dimmer for the display when you turn on the headlights (and an adjustment for how much it should dim), adjusting how much the volume is lowered when you press Mute, and a number of other things. I'd recommend this head unit to anybody looking for a really great unit with features that they'd have to pay a lot more for in most other units.
Recently received this stereo and it sounds great. Works well with factory speakers in a 24 year old truck! Everything sent was perfect for the truck. Took about 3 hours to install by myself (including modifying the dash to allow it to fit)! Highly recommended.
I just got this unit hooked up in my 1994 Ford Ranger Splash. It sounds great with my Infinity speakers. Adjustments are handy except the volume control can be a little hard to grip. Overall a good purchase and I would recommend it to anyone.
This player has got everything I needed, it is good in all ranges, Fast to start even on MP3, easy navigation. My kids love the change in colors we can do to the display and the cute little remote. Over all a good product for the money spent.
I bought this unit for my 97 Honda Accord and I love it. It puts out great sound and I was able to perfeclty match the display color to my dash lights. It is almost too much for my stock speakers to handle as they become distorted when i turn them up. It was easy to install, however if you are getting it and are looking to add a subwoofer you will need a two female to one male RCA adapter as there is only one RCA cable coming out of the back of the unit.
I bought this receiver when my Aiwa died on me. I was specifically interested in two features: the auxiliary input (for iPod use) and the price. I don't like the faceplate as much as the one on my old Aiwa, but the receiver has functioned well otherwise -- mostly with AM listening and some aux use on long road trips. I don't listen to a lot of CDs anymore, so it took me a while to discover that they're not reading in my receiver. I will consult the owner's manual to see if this can be resolved, but even if it can't be, it's not a huge issue for me. I'll take the aux plug for this price any day.
This reciever is great, i have had very little problems with it. it worked flawlessly for the first couple months but now when i open the faceplate to take out a cd it shuts off but then turns back on again, nothing major just annoying because i have to turn it back up because it has the automatic volume when you shut it off so it always turns on quiet. that is one of my favorite options, it makes sure you dont send a huge surge to your speakers when you turn it on. This reciever has earpiercing treble, there are times when i have to go in and turn it down. the bass is great as long as you dont turn it up too loud because it becomes distorted which is expected with most cd players. i have a loud eshaust so some of the bass gets ate up by that but when i turn the car off and listen to it, it is amazing. sure the reception isn't all that great but with cd's and aux input why do we even need the radio. i would recomend this radio to anyone.
Easy install with the great stuff Crutchfield includes. I chose the London because it was a nice, basic stereo, with the AUX in front. I don't want my HU to control my iPod. I know the menus well enough, and I'd prefer to control my music through there. The London has great features and made my stock speakers sound much better they did with the stock stereo. Great purchase all around!
The sound and clarity are a huge improvement over the stock unit; the stock speakers sound even better. I was suprised that they were even able to handle this unit. However, the FM reception is lacking. Strangely, I can recieve stations from El Paso, Tx (which I was not able to do with the OE unit), but yet, some strong local stations fade when I go downhill into the valley, or if I go under a over-pass or am around buildings or am on a street with sound-dampening walls (whatever they're called.) The "VarioColor" display made it easy to match the interior lighting of my 97 Grand Am. At first, I wasn't sure if I'd like the chrome-colored faceplate, but am now pleased, becuase it stands out from the rest of the dash, and the Head Unit/reciever is supposed to be the center piece anyway! With the mounting kit, the unit sticks out from the dash a bit, but I prefer that anyway over the flush mount stock unit. I would have given this unit 5 stars, but the radio reception knocks it down a star.
The service is great! I placed my order and had the radio within 3 days. I live on Orlando, Florida so I expected 4-5 days shipping, but they got it to me very quickly. <BR><BR> Most people fear the electrical wiring part of the install, but it was easy. I have a 1989 Mustang with the 6 speaker premium factory sound system. I was concerned about having all 6 speakers work, but that was not a problem. All 6 speakers work great! The Crutchfield supplied harness kit was very easy to use. The connectors have the wire function and polarity labels molded into the connector shell. Choose the correct connector from the kit to mate with the car's wiring. Then solder like colored wires together and cover the solder joints with heat shrink and you are done. Plug and play really does work. <BR><BR> The mechanical part of the installation was a little more puzzling. The metal mounting shell supplied with the radio had many small cutout tabs. The instructions say to find tabs that when bent upwards, lock against the plastic adapter frame. None of the tabs did that, but I found four tabs that worked well once I had trimmed about 3/32" off the ends. Then I bent them upwards to lock against the plastic frame, and it locked the metal shell tightly in place. <BR><BR> The radio's performance has been good so far. The reception fades if you are in a concrete and steel parking garage, but my stock radio did the same thing. The CD player really is skip proof. The suspension on the Mustang is very stiff, and the CD player hasn't skipped in spite of the harsh ride. Home burned CD's with the Widows Media Player format work without any problems.
The London is a very attractive, easy to use, receiver. Unfortunately, the radio reception is lacking. It seems all the Blaupunkt receivers use a 17 dBf sensitive radio receiver, which even in a big city, picks up interference. For this reason, I had to exchange mine. Everything else about the London was spot on. The controls are easy to use and the AUX input worked great.
The stock CD player in my 2002 Saturn SL2 was no longer reliably playing CDs, so it was time for an upgrade. My selection criteria included MP3 playback, included auxiliary input, and anti-shock memory in an under $200 unit. Only two manufacturers, Dual and Blaupunkt had units with anti-shock memory.<BR><BR>I considered the Dual XDM7610 but decided on the London MP37 for it`s clean, uncluttered design and front panel auxiliary input. I also purchased 2 pairs of Vx662 speakers for the front doors and rear deck.<BR><BR>I soldered the wiring harness connections to the receiver interfaces and covered the solder joints with heat shrink tubing, a job greatly simplified with the supplied diagram. When I was down to the last connection, the receiver`s "dimmer" wire, I had two choices on the harness: an "illumination" wire and a "dimmer" wire. A quick call to Crutchfield resolved the dilemma (it`s the "illumination" wire). Preparing the harness took about an hour.<BR><BR>Installation was straightforward. The supplied instructions were very specific and accurate. The receiver did not initially fit snugly in the DIN sleeve, so I bent in some of the tabs slightly to help stabilize it.<BR><BR>Saturn owners note: the recessed screws to remove the steering wheel cover are *very* recessed and difficult to access with a 7/32" socket. Find the smallest diameter socket or driver you can to make the job easier.<BR><BR>Now for the important part: it sounds great! Very clean highs and mids with crisp, punchy bass. Some low-end distortion at very high volumes but anyone wanting it *that* loud should install a subwoofer.

Shock Proof Memory: The CD player has a memory buffer of for CDs and MP3 discs to virtually eliminate skipping and drop outs, even on the roughest roads. Note: The number of seconds of electronic skip protection was not given.
MP3/WMA Playback: The London MP37 can play MP3/WMA files recorded onto CD-Rs and CD-RWs. The format of the CD-R or CD-RW must be ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2 or Joliet. Each disc can have a maximum of 252 directories and 511 files, with up to 255 files in one directory. During MP3/WMA playback, you have 5 display options:
ID3 Tags: The unit will display MP3 ID3 tags. You can select to display the directory name, file name, artist name, song name, or album name when available.
Telephone Mute: If the receiver is connected to a mobile telephone with an external mute circuit, the receiver's volume is muted whenever the mobile telephone is "picked up." The power wiring harness contains a telephone mute wire that must be connected to the phone's mute circuit in order for this feature to function.
Subwoofer Output: In addition to the 4-channel preamp output harness, a separate mono (single channel) non-fading subwoofer output is provided on the power harness. You can control the subwoofer output level from 0 to 7, and the frequency of the low-pass filter can be set to 80Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, or Off (no filtering).
Auxiliary Input: The London MP37 is equipped with a 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input on the front panel. You can connect an auxiliary input source, such as a portable MiniDisc/DVD/MP3 player. You can plug in a second auxiliary source by connecting an optional auxiliary input adapter (item number 023AUXIN1R) to the rear panel, instead of a CD changer.
Remote Control: The London MP37 comes with a small 8-button remote control. The supplied remote has the following functions: Volume Up, Volume Down, Source Select, Mute, and Select Up/Dn/Left/Right. The unit cannot be turned on or off with the remote. Dimensions: W=1.375", L=2.223", D=0.27".

When set to "Clock Off", the display and button illumination is turned off when the unit is turned off.
Clock Mode: You can set the clock display to 12-hour or 24-hour mode.
iPod Ready: The receiver is compatible with the Blaupunkt iPod Aux Cable (item # 023IPODCBL). When the iPod cable is connected, the audio from the iPod can be played through the receiver. You will still need to control the iPod directly--the receiver cannot control the device. Note: When the iPod Aux Cable is in use, you cannot connect a CD changer to this unit.
Bluetooth/USB Adapter Ready: With the optional Bluetooth/USB interface (023BLAUBLU), you can place and accept "hands free" cellular phone calls through this head unit. You can also play MP3 files stored on your Bluetooth cell phone. Up to 5 Bluetooth-capable phones can be registered to the adapter. In addition, the adapter has a USB input for plugging in portable digital audio players with USB outputs or USB storage devices.
Changer Controls: This head unit can directly control the following Blaupunkt changers: CDC A 03, CDC A 08, and IDC A 09. During CD changer operation, you have 5 display options:
Note: The IDC A 09 changer is only compatible with the London MP37 if it has not been previously connected to a 2002 or older Blaupunkt receiver. A code is set inside the IDC A 09 when it is connected to the older radio, making the changer incompatible with 2003 and newer receivers. The changer would need to be sent back to the manufacturer to reset the code in order to make it compatible again.
