Getting all your gear connected is a breeze thanks to Denon's Setup Assistant and Audyssey speaker calibration system. And the free Denon 2016 AVR Remote app gives you easy control of your home theater from a compatible mobile device.

A world of music at your fingertips

The AVR-X1300W's Wi-Fi lets you access your own digital music library through your home network, and Bluetooth lets you stream anything you like from your phone or tablet. Tune into Internet radio stations from around the world with vTuner, or play custom content with Pandora®, Spotify® Connect, or SiriusXM. This powerful receiver even offers convenient playback of several different high-resolution audio formats through the front-panel USB port or a networked computer. Denon's Compressed Audio Restorer boosts the sound quality of MP3s and other digital music files, so you get the best sound from any music source you choose.

Due to changes implemented by Pandora, this receiver is temporarily unable to connect to the Pandora service. A firmware update to resolve this issue is currently available.

Music in a second room

The AVR-X1300W has outputs for seven speakers, so you can enjoy a 5.2-channel home theater setup in your living room and reassign the rear surround channels to power a pair of speakers in a separate room. Relax to your favorite tunes on the patio while the rest of the family takes in a movie with surround sound in the living room.

So far it has been a good receiver. I just don't like that I can't control the settings like Treble & Bass but it sounds good.

Pros: Can watch TV with the unit off

    Cons:

Like the Denon, but it shipped without an owner's manual....which tech provided online.

    Pros: Variety of features

    Cons: complexity of setup

    Great sound and features

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had Denon receivers for 20 years. I love the sound and features. It's easy to set up and integrates well with my other remotes. Make sure you have it on a UPS to filter the power.

    Pros: Sound, Features, Connectivity

Cons: Very sensitive to voltage spikes and drops

Lots of features for the price.

Felix from Ft Lauderdale, FL on 9/20/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this receiver to replace my 10 year old Onkyo receiver. I must say I like the Wi-Fi and blue tooth features. Also, the image passthrough is much better quality than my old Onkyo. I like the flexibility of being able to tweak your sound. The only place where it dissappoints is the bass. While it does put out enough power, the bass for some reason sounds superficial and it is not room filling like the old Onkyo was. The power is good for small to medium size rooms, but you will want something with more power if you have a larger room. Overall, I would recommend it. It is a great product and for the price, you get A LOT of features!

Pros: Lots of features On screen set up guide

Cons: Not so great bass Need to do a lot of tweaking to get the sound just where you want it. Would like a bluetooth button on the face of the receiver as well as on the remote.

    Easy Setup

Anonymous from Newark, DE on 9/12/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was easy following the setup. I loved the calibration, as it points out any issues with wires (I had changed my +/- and it pointed it out eight away). The back of the receiver clearly identifies where to connect all HDMI components.

Pros: Easy Setup, HDMI connections clearly identify

    Cons:

Great Sound / HDMI Switching / Easy Setup / WiFi

Rich from Round Rock, TX on 9/10/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great receiver / iOS App / WiFi with easy firmware updates. Great switching for all my HDMI sources to my projector which is a 50 ft. HDMI run. Very clear - sound is top notch and the setup screens are fabulous!! Overall love Denon products. Negative 1 star - wish it had just a little more power.

Pros: Sound Quality is very good / Easy to setup with onscreen setup / easy connectivity with App / Bluetooth / Wifi Updates

Cons: Wish it had a bit more power if you have a good size theater room may want the model up with more power.

Average listening volume 50 to 55 which is about 50% of scale. Sound goes off at 20 to 25 which means a quarter of the scale is useless. All other equipment I have ever had average listening scale is 20 to 25 with a max of 100. Call to see if the equipment was functioning properly and was told yes but I am not convinced.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds great ,but usability and network ability are greatly exaggerated. The app is as bad as the reviews say it is. Crashes frequently locks out features and access to inputs at random. The quick conext buttons on the front reserves one button for the recievers online media so that you can only connect 3 of your inputs to a button on the front. I knew I had four devices I wanted easy access to and would have considered other recievers more strongly if I had known one reserved. It's not hard to access inputs if you scroll through with the front dial, have the remote, or its a working day for the app. I was just looking foreward to something simpler for the family to learn. The reciever usually auto switches to a new input and even let's audio and video pass through to the TV when the reciever is off but it doesnt bat a 1000 with that function and I haven't figured out why it sometimes does sometimes doesnt see an activated input. Denon's app has been pourly reviewed for so long. They won't do anything about it until people stop buying their product. If network connect ability is what you want I would shop the reviews of the apps themselves before you buy, and don't assume your experience will be different. It's also worth a note that many services restrict the accounts and number of devices that can connect. For example Spotify requires a premium account in order to connect to a reciever or even Roku.

    Great feature packed receiver!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Loving this receiver so far. Have my system set up as a 5.1.2 Atmos. Upgraded from a few years old Pioneer 5 .1 receiver. This Denon just sounds better in every way. Dialogue is clearer and surround effects are more profound. The Atmos sounds amazing, as does the up scaling with Neural X. Now every movie takes on a whole new level of sound. Audyssey is easy to calibrate in up to 8 seating positions. Receiver did an over the air update after set up and went flawlessly over Wi-Fi. My room is about 12 x 20 and this has more than enough power to fill my room. Very Happy!!

Pros: Ease of setup, sound, features

    Cons: Didn't get it sooner

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very pleased with this receiver. It has enough power to fulfill the majority of basic home set ups. The bluetooth works flawlessly and easily connects to devices. There are two issues that I found, but they do not affect my enjoyment of the product. 1. The receiver has ARC (audio return channel). If you have no input into the TV other than the receiver, you need to disable the ARC in the menu...otherwise it confuses the receiver and it keeps trying to get a signal that is not there. This occurred with mine because I have no TV/Cable/Satellite input to TV. 2. If you are using a CD compoment optical player...this will not work on the zone B unless you "start" the all channel play mode...then it will drive the zone 2/zone B speakers. Very happy overall! Great price on a great product. Can't say enough about Crutchfield team.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The primary use for this unit is listening to music; on-line, CDs, records. The Wi-Fi function is turned on (as opposed to a wire), when listening to on-line music (Pandora) it tends to drop out and I have to re-tag the the unit using the Pandora app. I have had the same experience when using on-line radio. Music from the DVD/CD player works fine. I would like to adjust the treble and bass, but I am finding it difficult to locate in the on-line User's Manual. Set-up was easy, Denon did a nice job with the step-by-step. The Denon app. is easy to use and convenient.

    Pros: Easy Set-up Convenient App

    Cons: Wi-Fi is inconsistant

One of the main reasons I bought this unit at Crutchfield versus other vendors.

This is a great unit. Connected my Dish Hopper, Sony Blu-ray, WD-TVLive, Sonos Connect to it with the output going to my Sony Bravia TV. Turn on any of the devices and the X1300 comes on automatically. Volume is then controlled through the devices remote. Works great with the Home Theater Direct in-Wall/Ceiling speakers and powered sub-woofer I installed in the room. Overall I am very happy with the X1300. This is my second Denon Home Theater unit in the past 4 years. The first has been operating flawlessly for that time so when I needed a second unit I went back to Denon.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After purchasing an LG Oled to replace my aging Kuro I decided it was time to upgrade my receiver as it could not pass a 4K signal. I waited and read several articles both online and in magazines before taking the plunge. This receiver is replacing another Denon and that receiver replaced a Denon before that. Needless to say I am a fan of Denon. Like most Denon receivers the setup of this receiver is extremely easy. The graphical user interface is plain and quite ugly looking but it gets the job done nonetheless. I found audyssey set up to be spot on with all of the speaker measurements but needed to tweak channel levels with my trusty almost 25 year old analog sound pressure level meter as they were off by more than just a little bit. Thanks Crutchfield for another solid purchase!

Pros: Excellent sound Attractive finish Supports latest audio and visual formats.

Cons: Audyssey needs tweaking Remote control is cheap feeling.

The setup was super simple by using the cable labels to label wires as I disconnected from old receiver. The on screen guide made things a breeze for speaker calibration with the included microphone. Really makes those 4K UHD Blurays really come to life. After a few tweaks using the free app may never go to the movie theater again.

I am new to home theater receivers so I purchased this on the recommendation from a friend and the price. I was not let down The setup is so easy that anyone can do it. It takes you through step by step and tells you exactly what to do and when to do it. 4K pass through works very well. No noticeable loss in picture quality.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very pleased with this purchase. Updated from my 6 yr. old Denon AVR-2311CI with no complaints and swift installation and setup. The Setup Assistant walks you through the paces, I believe, easily enough for the newcomer, and experienced techies can breeze through. The UI is somewhat disappointing for 2017, but the onscreen display of the volume and Eco (energy saver) monitor looks nice enough while viewing an HD source. The sound is perfect Denon, crisp, clear, and clean, when paired with my Martin Logan Motion Series speakers and Definitive Technology Supercube II subwoofer. Plenty of features for the price tag, plus the best sounding receiver brand in my opinion. Thanks to Wolf and Maverick for help finding the right continuation of my Denon love affair.

Pros: Clean sound, easy to use interface, nice feature set, good value for the money.

Cons: UI is a bit outdated, some distortion at high volume.

My first Denon. Great power plant for the price. The AVR 1300 is very easy to use an integrate into your home theater system and customer service was great when I ran into set up issues that I did not understand. The remote has so much more functionality that one would know at first glance, and makes it super easy to test and switch settings. I f you are not an audiophile but still love great acoustics with ease of operation, I strongly suggest. My Crutchfield sales advisor was super helpful and knew exactly how to guide me to the model that was right for me

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The smart features are awesome. It was a breeze to set up the wi-fi and in minutes I was listening to streaming services and internet radio. Using the 4K output on the receiver also improved the picture clarity on my TV. Talk about easy to use, the iPad app from Denon is now my remote. Everything works seamlessly. Was thinking of getting one of those high end blue tooth speakers to stream music. Don't bother, the Denon sounds so much better and does everything blue tooth you'll need. The receiver even has 2 room outputs. I can say from experience, spend the money, get the receiver and a set of speakers. You never regret buying quality!

Pros: Easy to use, set up. Sounds great. 2 Room speaker set up. Denon App for iPad Blue tooth connections WI-Fi set up easy. Auto update on software by Wi-FI

Cons: Display is a little hard to read if your too far away. To correct keep TV on to see on screen menus.

Great receiver. Purchased this mainly for the 2 zone / 2 source interface. First week the app continually crashed, but an update must have solved that issue since it no longer crashes. Very happy with the product, price and expedient shipping

Pros: Sound 2 zone / 2 source capability

Cons: None once app bugs were worked out.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very happy with this receiver. It was very easy to set up. Even though I've done this many times before, the on-screen guided setup was still really nice, and probably the best I've ever seen. You got immediate feedback on whether things were properly hooked up, which was helpful given the tight space I was working in. The speaker calibration also worked great. I had started listening for a few days before running the calibration, and after doing it the sound was really well balanced. I was glad that I could tweak the dialog a bit, as that was a little light in my setup, but I think that has to do with my own room acoustics and personal preferences. I mostly use this for home theater, and it works great. But I also have enjoyed the internet radio and streaming music from my phone. The front HDMI input is great for plugging a video game system in and out easily.

Pros: Great sound, super easy setup, good speaker calibration

Cons: Front screen display isn't that clear. Looks like it is trying to display the sound mode and input source, but ends up not really showing either one fully. Maybe there is a setting I can toggle but I haven't found it.

For the money and free shipping I paid this amp is very very good. Of the last 4 amps I have bought 3 of them have been Denon. The last amp was a Harmon Kardon which was good but the video pass through went out. This amp sounds better and was was cheaper than it. The past Denon amps also where in the same price range. The reason I gave myself the restriction of a lower budget is in the past each time I bought an amp I was telling myself " I am spending this ridiculous amount of money but it will last me 10 years" the truth is amps need replaced every 5 in my cycle so I choose to spend less and not feel so bad the next time. I was so pleasantly surprised with this thing. I am using JBL Es 90's and 80's with matching center and middle rear surrounds.

This receiver has some great features. Plenty of HDMI ports, 7.2 channels, blue tooth, wi fi, etc. I like the Audyssey sourround sound feature that sets the speaker tones for you. Great sound direction, you can literally step 4-5' outside of the listening area or zone and hear/feel the difference. You don't have full control over the EQ and you have to setup each port and channel for the receiver to work. You can't simply plug an HDMI cable in and start using.

Pros: Great sound features, great video, plenty of HDMI ports

Cons: You don't have full control over the EQ and you have to setup each port and channel for the receiver to work. You can't simply plug an HDMI cable in and start using.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Polished specs. Fully featured with long list of functions. At first the sound is impressive but after a while it's wearing with it's zippy balance. It's missing the gravitas of the aging Marantz it replaced. While it proudly displays Spotify logo - there is no Spotify direct...??? Yes it is rather inexpensive but it really shows in the construction especially the flimsy plastic front controls. Partnered with $3K+ loudspeakers this Denon shows it's simply inadequate. But that's my own mistake for being cheap!!! Should have shell out for a better receiver. Perhaps partnered with inexpensive speakers like Elac it would have been a better fit.

Pros: Inexpensive Gets the job done in a pinch Handles 4 Ohm speakers - most (99%) receivers in this price category don't!!! Light - easy to maneuver around Reduced height and depth - fits better in existing cabinetry Educational - taught me a lesson not to be a cheapskate

Cons: Inexpensive No Spotify Connect Zippy bright sound (unnatural) Has to be carefully partnered with speakers Flimsy, cheap plastic controls

Discrete Amplification: The Denon AVR-X1300W AV receiver features a powerful Class AB power amplifier section equipped with discrete high current power transistors. This discrete amplifier design delivers optimum realism and stunning dynamic range. By using high current, high power discrete power devices, the amplifier is able to easily drive high quality speakers. The AV receiver's seven channel Class AB amplifier is rated at 80-watts (into 8-ohms, at 20-20kHz, with 0.08% THD, driving 2 channels).

Amplifier Assignment: The AVR-X1300W's seven discrete amplifier channels can be configured to accommodate your type of home theater setup.

    • Surround Back: The AV receiver's amplifier channels can be configured as Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right, and Surround Back Left/Right for Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD 7.1ch playback.
    • Front Height: The receiver's amplifier channels can also be configured as Front Left/Right, Front Height Left/Right, Center, and Surround Left/Right for more front effects during 7.1ch playback.
    • Top Front/Middle: This amplifier configuration provides 5.1.2ch playback using top front or top middle speakers for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X.
    • Dolby Front/Surround: This amplifier configuration provides 5.1.2ch playback using front or surround Dolby Atmos enabled speakers.
    • Bi-Amp: You can configure the amplifier for front bi-amp operation to achieve a higher-quality 2-channel sound by connecting the receiver's front and surround back channels to your main front speakers (if compatible). Receiver will be limited to 5.1ch surround.
    • Zone 2: The AVR-X1300W's amplifier channels can be configured as Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right, and Zone 2 for Dolby Digital & DTS 5.1ch playback in the main zone and 2ch PCM playback in the second zone.
    • Front B: A second set of front speakers can be powered by the surround back amplifier. Receiver will be limited to 5.1ch surround

Quad-Core 32-Bit DSP: Featuring an advanced quad-core 32-bit DSP processor, the AVR-X1300W easily handles a wide variety of Dolby Digital & DTS audio formats; including Dolby Atmos & DTS:X (firmware updated required). The DSP chip features tremendous processing power with four 300-MHz DSP cores that can process over 1 billion computations per second.

Compatible Digital Audio Formats: The AV receiver supports the following stereo & multichannel digital audio formats through its HDMI jacks and optical/coax digital inputs.

Digital Audio Connector Audio Signal Type Audio Signal Format
    HDMI 2Ch Linear PCM 2ch, 32-192kHz, 16/20/24-bit

    Multichannel Linear PCM 6ch, 32-96Hz, 16/20/24-bit
Bitstream Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, DTS ES, DTS 96/24

Immersive Surround Sound: The Denon AVR-X1300W AV receiver goes beyond regular surround with the latest immersive surround sound formats - like Dolby Atmos or Dolby Surround and DTS:X or DTS Neural:X.

    • Dolby Atmos: Dolby Atmos surround sound technology dispenses with channel-based coding in favor of more advanced object-based coding, giving the soundtrack designer the ability to precisely place sounds anywhere in the 3-dimensional space. Now you can enjoy this same award-winning technology at home with the AVR-X1300W that lets you connect a 5.1 surround sound speaker system and 2 additional overhead speakers or 2 Dolby Atmos elevation speakers for the ultimate home theater experience.
    • Dolby Surround: Dolby Surround offers an enhanced cinema experience to your 2ch and multichannel movie soundtracks using your existing 5.1ch, 7.1ch, or Dolby Atmos speaker setup. Dolby Surround enhances audio definition by improving the spatial dimension and overall audio definition of movie soundtracks. It does this by using four distinct surround zones that provide greater control over the exact placement of each detail in a movie sound track, so audio can be matched more accurately to the video on screen; this means more depth and greater realism for your movies. As a result, individual sounds are clearer and more distinct. It also improves the surround sound experience across the entire theater by widening the listening "sweet spot".
    • DTS:X: The latest immersive surround sound system, DTS:X features object-based audio coding that lets the soundtrack designer place sonic elements anywhere in the 3D acoustic soundspace, and provides for overhead speakers to deliver a stunning surround sound experience. Along with DTS:X decoding, the AVR-X1300W features DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and other DTS audio technologies.
    • DTS Neural:X: Further, DTS:X incorporates Neural:X, the latest spatial remapping technology from DTS, which provides a fully immersive output for all types of source content; this includes DTS bitstreams and non-encoded (PCM) data. Neural:X delivers a thrilling sense of immersive sound to your speaker layout regardless of the original source format.
Note: DTS:X & DTS Neural:X will require a firmware update.

Audyssey Silver: AVR-X1300W features the Audyssey Silver suite of powerful DSP features; including MultEQ XT, Dynamic Volume, and Dynamic EQ.

    • MultEQ XT: Via the supplied measuring microphone, Audyssey MultEQ measures all the speakers in your home theater during setup, including the subwoofer, and then generates multiple high precision DSP room acoustic correction filters, which together provide smoothest and most natural tonal balance, regardless of the brand or model of the various speakers. Up to eight listening positions can be measured, configured, and recorded. MultEQ XT compensates for both time and frequency characteristics of the listening area based on "Audyssey Setup" measurement results. Selection is done from three types of compensation curves - Reference (default and recommended, L/R Bypass, Flat, and Off).
    • Dynamic Volume: Audyssey Dynamic Volume features advanced psycho-acoustic processing to deliver clear dialog and wide range sound at reduced volume levels so that you can enjoy theater-level clarity at whatever listening level you choose.
    • Dynamic EQ: Audyssey Dynamic EQ also features advanced DSP processing to deliver full range wide-band response, even at reduced volume levels. Dynamic EQ Reference Level Offset provides three offsets from the film level reference (5 dB, 10 dB, and 15 dB) that can be selected when the mix level of the content is not within the standard.

Denon Original Listening Modes: Denon's Original Listening Modes, combined with Dolby Digital/DTS processing, produce more realistic, powerful sound effects for your movie and music sound tracks based on the type of content and your home theater setup. You can choose from the following -

    • Rock Arena: For rock and popular music sources, this mode surrounds you with reflected sound of the kind you would hear at a live concert.
    • Jazz Club: This mode recreates the atmosphere of a live house where the ceiling is low and you are enveloped with rich doses of reflected sound.
    • Matrix: With this mode, you can add rich reflected sound to 2-channel stereo music sources where reflected sound is normally not audible.
    • Video Game: This mode is suited for achieving surround sound with video games..
    • Mono Movie: This mode is used when you listen to recorded monaural sound sources such as AM radio broadcasts or news programs from the center speaker.
    • Virtual: Enjoy surround effects using only the front speakers or set of headphones.
    • Multichannel Stereo: Left and right stereo channels are distributed to all the speakers so that stereo sound can be heard from all directions at any listening position.

Direct Listening Modes: The Denon AVR-X1300W offers two Direct Listening Modes which bypass the receiver's tone & DSP processing for higher sound quality performance. Direct Mode provides playback of 2ch or Multichannel audio in its original form, without any surround or tone processing. Pure Direct Mode goes a step further by turning off the receiver's display and analog video circuitry to minimize the possibility of any noised being added to the audio signal.

Audio Enhancements: The Denon AVR-X1300W receiver provides various audio enhancements to deliver a high-quality listening experience every time.

    • CINEMA EQ (Cinema Equalizer): The Cinema EQ function gently decreases the level of the extreme high frequencies, compensating for overly-bright sounding motion picture soundtracks. Select this function if the sound from the front speakers is too bright. This function only works in the Dolby Digital & DTS modes.
    • Compressed Audio Restorer: Compressed audio formats such as MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio), and MPEG-4 AAC reduce the amount of data by eliminating signal components that are hard for the human ear to hear. The Restorer function generates the signals eliminated upon compression, restoring the sound to conditions near those of the original sound before compression. It also corrects the sense of volume of the bass to obtain richer sound with compressed audio signals.
    • Dynamic Range Compression (DRC): Motion picture soundtracks have tremendous dynamic range (the contrast between very soft and very loud sounds). For listening late at night, or whenever the maximum sound level is lower than usual, Compressing the dynamic range allows you to hear all of the sounds in the soundtrack with reduced dynamic range. DRC works when playing program sources recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS.
    • Room Size: The receiver's audio output can be set to simulate the acoustics of a Small, Medium Small, Medium (default), Medium Large, or Large room environment. This setting is not an indication of the actual size of your listening area.

Level Adjustments: The AVR-X1300W provides the following level adjustments.

    • Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB.
    • Dialogue Level: You can adjust the output level (+/-12dB) to increase the dialogue output from the center channel.
    • Subwoofer Level: You can set the receiver's subwoofer output level (+/-12dB) independent from the other speaker levels and system's main volume.

Volume Settings: The AVR-X1300W offers the following volume settings.

    • Volume Scale: You can choose to display an Absolute volume scale (0-98) or Relative volume scale (-79.5 to 18dB).
    • Volume Limit: You can set a maximum volume level of 0, -10, or -20 dB to limit the receiver's total volume output.
    • Power On Level: You can define the volume setting that is active when the power is turned on (0, 1-98, -79 to +18dB, or Last)
    • Mute Level: You can set the amount of attenuation for the audio muting circuit; -40dB or -20dB below current volume, or full mute (sound turned off entirely).
    • Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB.

Audio Outputs: The Denon AV receiver features color-coded binding-post speaker terminals, dual sub outputs, and a front-panel headphone jack.

    • Color-Coded Speaker Terminals: The receiver has binding-post terminals for all speaker connections. The binding-post terminals can accept bare wire, pin connectors, and banana plugs (single/dual). The receiver will accept speaker impedances of 4 to 16-ohm. The AV receiver comes with color-coded labels to easily identify which channel a speaker cable should be connected to. Since the speaker cables have labels in the same colors as the connectors on the AVR-X1300W's rear panel, there's no longer any confusion about which terminals they should be connected to.
    • Dual Sub Outputs: For compatibility with dual subwoofer home theater systems, the AVR-X1300W features two non-discrete subwoofer outputs. With dual subwoofers, which can be placed in different parts of the room, you'll benefit from response averaging, which helps provide smoother and more detailed deep bass, compared to a conventional single subwoofer speaker system. The same signal is output from each sub output.
    • Headphone Jack: When headphones are plugged into the full-size 1/4" jack on the front panel, all the speakers are automatically muted.

    Video Section

HDMI 2.0a: Featuring six HDMI inputs (including one conveniently located on the front-panel) and one HDMI output, the AVR-X1300W incorporates an advanced video section that features the latest HDMI 2.0a specification, including support for 4K/60 Hz Ultra-HD video, BT.2020 Wide Color Gamut, High Dynamic Range (HDR), 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling and 21:9 video pass-through, along with support for 3D content. The AVR-X1300W also features HDCP 2.2 compatibility, a requirement for 4K Ultra HD copy-protected content.

    • 4K/60Hz: The AVR-X1300W supports up to 4K (3840x2160 pixels) video @ 60 frames per second on all of its HDMI inputs and output. It will also pass a 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p video signals via HDMI
    • HDCP 2.2: All of the receiver's HDMI jacks support HDCP 2.2, which fully complies with the latest copyright protection standard for 4K video transmission.
    • 4:4:4 Color Subsampling: All of the receiver's rear-panel HDMI jacks support RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4, YCbCr 4:2:2, and YCbCr 4:2:0 color subsampling (@ 60Hz or 50Hz). With 4:4:4 color subsampling, luminance (brightness) and chroma (color) are sampled at the same rate; resulting in an RGB color palette as big as the video sampling rate for a video image with more colors, plus greater color accuracy and detail. The front-panel HDMI only supports 4K 60/50Hz using format YCbCr 4:2:0 only.
    • HDR (High Dynamic Range): HDR provides enhanced picture quality by simultaneously enabling greater detail for both the dark and bright parts of an image. HDR reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, creating greater contrast. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth.
    • Wide Color Gamut (BT.2020): The BT.2020 color standard delivers a much wider color gamut and represents about 75% of the total visual color spectrum, while the current Rec. 709 color standard selected as the color space for HDTVs and early generation 4K Ultra HDTVs covers only 35% of the total visual color spectrum.
    • 21:9 Aspect Ratio: By supporting 21:9 aspect ratio, this receiver can show films recorded in the Cinema Scope format on your TV for a much more immersive video experience. When these types of films are viewed in the usual 16:9 ratio, you see black bars at the top and bottom of the screen; 21:9 eliminates these bars.
Note: Out of the box, the AVR-X1300W is only compatible with HDR10. Through a future firmware update (scheduled for October 2017), the unit will also support Dolby Vision and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) HDR formats.

Other HDMI Features: The Denon AVR-X1300W AV receiver's HDMI connectivity also offers 3D video pass-through, ARC (Audio Return Channel), Deep Color & x.v.Color support, as well as an auto LipSync function.

    • 3D Ready: The AVR-X1300W AV receiver supports 3D video pass-through (720p/1080p only) from connected 3D-compatible Blu-ray, games and broadcast devices to 3D-compatible HDTVs (all 3D components must be connected via HDMI). Special eyewear will be required for viewing 3D content.
    • ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature of the AVR-X1300W's HDMI monitor output allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to the receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.
    • Deep Color & x.v.Color Support: The AV receiver supports Deep Color and x.v.Color content, which can display a larger color range than standard-definition schemes. The result is a more lifelike, vibrant picture
    • LipSync: This function adjusts the delay between audio and video output. You can do this manually or have the receiver set the LipSync function automatically. When connected to a TV via HDMI the receiver automatically adjusts audio output timing (0-500ms) if the TV supports an automatic LipSync function. You can also manually delay the sound output up to 500ms to synchronize it with the video image.

HDMI Standby Pass-Through: When the AV receiver is in "Standby" mode and the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled, both audio/video streams from the receivers HDMI input will be output to your television, via the AV receiver's HDMI monitor output. Once the receiver is turned "On", only video will pass through the monitor output to your TV and the audio is directed to the receiver's speaker outputs.

    • HDMI Input: Selects the HDMI Input for which the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled.
    • Last: The HDMI Standby-Through function is activated on the input source selected at the time of setting the AV receiver to the "Standby" mode.
    • Off: The HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is disabled.

Composite Video Inputs/Output: The receiver features two composite video inputs and one composite video monitor output. You must connect the receiver to your TV via composite video to view incoming video from the receiver's composite inputs. There are no component video inputs or outputs.

Video Select Function: This receiver can display video from a different source on your connected TV during audio playback from Tuner, USB/iPod, Online Music, or Bluetooth.

    Multiroom Playback

Zone 2: Zone 2 allows stereo audio playback of another source connected to the receiver in another room of your home via RCA line-level output or speaker-level output. When using the AVR-X1300W to power speakers in a second room of your home, the main zone is restricted to 5.1-channels. When using the receiver's line output terminals for the second room you need an additional amplifier to power your Zone 2 speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.1-channel. The volume of Zone 2 can be controlled by the Denon receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output.

    • Compatible Sources: Compatible Zone 2 sources include - Analog Audio Inputs, AM/FM Tuner (cannot select different stations for each zone), USB (including iPod/iPhone), AirPlay, Bluetooth, Internet Radio (different network sources cannot be played back in multiple zones at the same time), DLNA/Media Server contents.
    • Incompatible Sources: It is not possible to play the digital audio signals from the HDMI, Coaxial, or Optical terminals in Zone 2. Video signals and DSD audio cannot be sent to Zone 2.

Note: Unfortunately, you cannot select USB and Network sources exclusively for each Zone. For example, if you select a network source for Zone 2 when a USB source is selected for the Main Zone, the input source in the Main Zone also switches to the same network source as Zone 2 (this scenario also includes Bluetooth).

All Zone Stereo Function: The All Zone Stereo function allows you to enjoy the AV receiver's Main Zone audio source in Zone 2 simultaneously (regardless of input audio signal types; analog or digital). During the All Zone Stereo mode, only the "Multi Ch Stereo" and "Stereo" sound modes can be selected. You will have independent volume control in each zone. All Zone Stereo mode is useful when you want to enjoy the same music at the same time in multiple rooms during a get together or party.

HEOS Multiroom Compatible: Thanks to the AV receiver's network and IP control capability, it can be integrated into Denon's HEOS whole home audio system via the HEOS Link (sold separately) and the HEOS app for Apple iOS (7.0+) & Android OS (2.3+). The HEOS Link connects to the AV receiver's Zone 2 preouts and a set of stereo RCA inputs or optical digital input on the receiver. Now, you can send the receiver's Zone 2 audio to other HEOS speakers in different rooms of your home, as well as play back audio from other HEOS devices through the AV receiver. From the app on your mobile device, you'll be able to control the Denon receiver along with other Denon HEOS gear and listen to music throughout your home. The HEOS wireless multi-room sound system by Denon can support up to 32 HEOS products (sold separately) on a single wireless network.

    • Music: You can select which source you want to listen to from the app. Choose from the receiver's Zone 2 audio, the Link's built-in online music services (like TuneIn, Pandora, Spotify Connect, iHeart Radio, SiriusXM, Rhapsody, Amazon Music or TIDAL), the music library on your mobile device, and more.
    • Rooms: From the app on your Apple iOS or Android device, you can select which rooms you want playing. You can play the same music in multiple rooms by grouping rooms together, or you can listen to a different source in each room.
    • Groups: You can join or group up to eight individual HEOS devices into a group that function as if they were a single speaker. The HEOS App is also flexible enough where you can create up to 16 Groups (2 HEOS products per Group).
    • Party Mode: You can easily group eight rooms together into Party Mode by using a "pinch" gesture.
Note: The Denon AV receiver only allows one IP connection for control. If the receiver is already being controlled by a 3rd party control system via IP, then the HEOS Link will not be able to control it.

    Remote & App Control

AVR Remote App: The new Denon AVR Remote App lets you control the Denon AV receiver using your Apple (iOS 7.0) or Android (OS 4.0+) device. From this free app on your compatible Apple iOS or Android device, you'll be able to control the Denon AV receiver's basic functions; such as power, volume, input, surround modes, and other settings. You'll also be able to control separate Zones of the receiver, as well as  navigate the AV receiver's network and Internet content from the app. In addition, you get you get unique features likes a landscape orientation control screen for tablet devices, the ability to create playlists, and control over a Denon Blu-ray player.

    • Landscape Orientation Control Screen: With a landscape orientation control screen for tablet devices, you can easily browse and navigate through your network music services or personal digital music collection with ease, and at the same time view now-playing information and cover art all on a single screen.
    • Create Playlists: The app's playback screen allows you to easily build your own personal music playlists on the fly with the ability to Drag & Drop files into your queue, or tap to "Play Now", "Play Next", "Play Next and Replace Queue" or "Add to End of Queue". You can then save your queue as a playlist for easy recall.
    • Denon Blu-ray Player Control: The app allows control over Denon Blu-ray (DBT-xx13 series) that are connected to the AV receiver via HDMI.

Note: This AV receiver is not compatible with last year's older Denon Remote App.

IR Remote:  The Denon AVR-X1300W comes with an IR remote for wireless operation of the AV receiver. The AVR-X1300W's can also be used to control select external audio/video components connected via HDMI which support HDMI control.

HDMI-CEC: When you make an HDMI connection with a TV or Blu-ray player compatible with the AVR-X1300W's HDMI control function, you can perform the operations from the AVR-X1300W's remote control; Power off, Switching of audio output devices, Switching of audio input devices, Volume adjustment, and Playback functions.

Smart TV Control: When you connect the AVR-X1300W to your Smart TV, you have the option of controlling the AVR-X1300W via the TV's remote control which lets you select an input, adjust the volume and choose the surround sound mode. The receiver and your TV must be connected via HDM with the HDMI-CEC function activated on both components.

    Convenience Features

OSD w/ Setup Assistant (via HDMI): With Denon's on-screen menu and setup assistant, you can connect, configure, and use your home theater system with ease. The OSD and setup assistant features clear on-screen graphics and text that optimizes critical system settings for your particular home theater setup. The on-screen menu and setup assistant can be output to your TV via HDMI only. If you connect the receiver to your television via only composite video, you will need to use the AV receiver's front-panel display for menu and source adjustments.

Note: Initial setup requires that the receiver be connected to your TV via HDMI for display of the on-screen menu. Many of the receiver's setup functions can only be found via the on-screen menu and not the front-panel display.

Quick Select: On the AVR-X1300W's front-panel, you'll find four Quick Select buttons that let you quickly choose from the most popular input sources; the ergonomically designed remote also includes Quick Select function buttons. With Quick Select, the AVR-X1300W remembers not only your preferred inputs but also your preferred audio settings, so you can enjoy precisely tailored sound with each one.

Gapless Playback: Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music. Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard. Compatible with WAV and FLAC music files via USB or DLNA.

Keyword Search: You can also search Internet Radio, USB, and DLNA content using keyword searches from the AV receiver's on-screen menu and remote control.

Input Name & Delete: You can change the display name (up to 8 characters) of a selected input source. If an input isn't being used, you can delete it from the display so you don't have to scroll past it when you change sources.

The display time can also be set. You can also play back music and a favorite picture at the same time via USB, Internet Radio, or Media Server.

Sleep Timer + Auto Standby: The Denon AV receiver features a programmable Sleep Timer and Auto Standby function. The Sleep Timer allows you to automatically set the power to standby after a predetermined amount of time has passed; set the sleep timer up to 120 minutes in 10 minute increments. The unit enters Standby mode automatically when no commands are sent to the unit for the set time (15/30/60 minutes). Before it enters the standby mode, "Auto Standby" is displayed on the front-panel display of this unit and the on-screen menu.

ECO Mode: This receiver is equipped with an ECO Mode function that allows you to enjoy music and movies while reducing the power consumption during use, Eco mode adjusts the maximum power available according to the volume level selected to reduce power consumption.

Personal Memory Plus: For each input, the receiver automatically memorizes the settings for input mode, surround mode, HDMI output mode, audio delay, etc. When the input source is switched, the settings last used for that source are automatically recalled. The surround parameters, tone control settings, and playback levels for the different output channels are memorized for each surround mode.

Protection Circuit: This is a function to prevent damage to components within the power supply when an abnormality such as an overload, excess voltage, or over-heating occurs. In this unit, the power indicator blinks and the unit enters standby mode when an abnormality occurs.

I've heard good things about Denon. this unit seems to fill all my current needs at a decent price for the Denon brand. Never purchased before. I'll try and review once installed. [ Alden  Aug 01, 2017 ]

The Denon AVR-X3000 receiver I bought a couple years ago does not support DirecTV 4K receiver output which requires HDCP 2.2. Rats! So that is part of the risk of being an early adopter. The 4K looks great on the Sony 65" TV we bought at the same time. First time since we bought it that we've seen 4K. [ Robert  Jan 02, 2017 ]

Needed 4k pass through. My old AVR did not support this. :( [ Charlie  Nov 25, 2016 ]
This receiver has the components that I desired, verified officially after consulting with Levi on the phone: AirPlay, WiFi, powered multi-zone control, >4 HDMI inputs and future-proofing w/ ATMOS. It's price-point is also reasonable. It does not have a dedicated phone input, however, so I also purchased a pre-amp; the receivers with phone pre-amps were mostly above my price ability, even after the purchase of the external phone pre-amp. [ Justin  Nov 25, 2016 ]

    13 questions already asked

The speakers listed are highly efficient 8 Ohm speakers, thus the Denon amplifier would be more than adequate to power the system. [ Michael  Oct 03, 2017 ]
Good power match, should sound great [ gary  Sep 29, 2017 ]
The receiver delivers 80 watts per channel. Your sub is powered so that doesn't matter, the RP150M's handle 75 watts continuous, the reference RC-62II handles 150 watts continuous. So you are a little low with the RC62's if you want use everything your speakers are capable of, but if you go to a reciver that has 150 watts rms you have the possibility of blowing your RP150's. I have this receiver and it's the best one I have had since my 1990's onkyo. It's all preference, I have polk audio surround sound speakers and it gets plenty loud for me......guess it depends if you want to wear hearing protection when you watch movies ;-) [ MARK  Sep 29, 2017 ]
It just receives blue tooth [ David  Sep 11, 2017 ]
Transmit to what? For what purpose? It does communicate with other Denon devices but not through Bluetooth. The newest versions might. [ JerryMc  Sep 11, 2017 ]
Yes but I was only able to connect one device at a time. The first device locks all devices out until disconnected. Honestly I dont like this receiver. I have a new Yamaha and it's way easier to use Sound setup is easy and everyone in the house can use it too. The denon you have to really learn and if your speaker setup is not great but then it doesn't sound as nice. [ eric  Jul 17, 2017 ]
I connected my Denon AVR-X1300 to Bose speakers and they sound great. Can't see why you can't connect to Hero's. Best ask Crutchfield. [ Rick  Jun 19, 2017 ]
    Yes. [ Frann  Jun 21, 2017 ]
Yes, i recommended because it work fine in my home theatre with 1 pair Bose 301 as a main, 1 pair Bose 201 as surround back, 1 sub Klisch and the center Polk. Have a great choice. [ Thang Hong  Jun 19, 2017 ]
Yes you sure can, mine is set up for 5.1 also getting great sounds hope this helps [ Joe  Jun 18, 2017 ]
Yes, I drive a 5.1 system and use the other 2 channels as zone 2 for my 2 pool deck speakers. [ Conrad  Jun 18, 2017 ]
Yes, during the setup process the calibration will be able to read how many speakers there are and adjust accordingly. I use it as a 6.1 [ William  Jun 18, 2017 ]
Hey Jarrett, the rating is 120 watts per channel, but that generally refers to what you will get running two speakers, not 5 or 7. This receiver provides 70-80 per channel to 5 channels. Go online and search for "bench test" or "test bench" plus the name of the receiver, and you will find where audio mags have tested receivers and posted results for multiple configurations. I found the 70-80 online for the AVR -x1200w, which I am assuming is comparable. [ James  Jun 04, 2017 ]
I looked through the manual and did not see any functionality where you could only mute a subset of all connected speakers. That would be a cool feature, though. It looks like muting works only with all speakers. I've not used the mobile App so I can't help there. [ Greg  May 28, 2017 ]
Yes you can control the speaker arrangement with the app... [ gary  May 24, 2017 ]
Hi Oliver, Yes there is a microphone input on the right front side. This is used for the audyssey sound calibration setup. It may work with the karaoke but I cannot confirm. There are multiple connections on this unit. There are HDMI and Composite connections on the back as well as HDMI and USB connections on the front. Depending on what connection you need for your karaoke amplifier these may work. Hope this helps, Wade [ Wade  May 01, 2017 ]
    It's 110V only [ THANH VAN  May 03, 2017 ]
    No it is not.120V 60 Hz only [ Gregory  May 01, 2017 ]
You can use an HDMI input on the back of your TV, audio will feed back to your Demon, otherwise you can use the Denon's input. If you do it would be dedicated unless you unplug it when you want to game, you can use any of the open HDMIs regardless of label [ gary  Apr 24, 2017 ]
I don't have an Apple TV but would try any of your available HDMI inputs. If you are concerned about loosing a game connection, maybe use the "Game" port as a last resort with the Apple TV. I don't know if any of the labelled HDMI inputs "need" to be connected to equipment with the same label (i.e. a DVD might work connected to CBL/SAT, but it might be confusing when selecting what input you want to watch). [ Greg  Apr 23, 2017 ]
You can connect it to any available HDMI input; doesn't matter. [ Robert  Apr 23, 2017 ]
There are 5 HDMI inputs so you can use them however you'd like. There is one labeled Media you could use you Apple TV with if you are worried about your game input. However if you have more then 5 devices you are out of luck with this receiver. [ MARK  Apr 23, 2017 ]
It does have a second amplifier hook up that is called Zone 2. You can run it together or completely separate. [ Paul  Apr 21, 2017 ]
Short answer is yes, you can use the rear speaker line level output (also called zone 2) as a pre-amp to connect to your Amp and therefore drive more speakers. Make sure you set the zone 2 to line level and turn up the volume on zone 2 so your Amp is getting full level. Also set zone2 to reference (or input source) and crank up your Amp and enjoy. I hope this will help you it sounds confusing but it's easy. I've got mine that way and its hooked to a 200 watt outlaw Amp, literally shakes the pictures on the walls (awesome) [ David  Apr 21, 2017 ]
Go to DENON website and view the owners manual for this product. [ Gregory  May 02, 2017 ]
hello randy sorry it took so long for me to reply i was over the road, as for my understand from denon support it is possible. that was my idea too but havent got to fully set it up yet due to work. dave. [ David  Feb 20, 2017 ]
2016 model with all updates. 2017 models will not be out until after CES show is over....... PROBABLY NOT UNTIL MUD MARCH, SO YOUR GOING TO SCORE A GREAT PRICEE ON THESE MODELS SO THEY CAN REDUCE THEIR INVENTORY TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW MODELS, I CANNOT SEE THE 2017 MODELS HAVING THAT MUCH MORE THEN THE 2016 MODELS. THE 2016 IS JAMMED PACK WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. [ MARK  Jan 09, 2017 ]
It came out last year, it is well worth the money. I am pleased with mine. [ Paul  Jan 09, 2017 ]
