Audiobahn AS Series speakers offer an outstanding combination of quality, value, and versatility. Install them in your vehicle as full-range speakers, or remove the tweeters and mount them separately for improved high-frequency performance.

The AS62Q 6-3/4" speakers feature light polypropylene cones, injected with carbon for toughness and suspended in durable butyl rubber surrounds. This combo produces tight lows and holds up well in the demanding car environment. Heavy-duty internal parts ensure the woofers resist damaging heat buildup.

Special circuits protect the pivoting dome tweeters against power overloads. Audiobahn includes the hardware you'll need if you mount the tweeters separately.

Good Speakers for a Great Price

bc1nurse from Oklahoma on 4/27/2006

I bought 2 pairs to replace factory speakers in a 1998 Dodge Durango. A major improvement in overall quality, esp bass response. The tweeters are a little bit harsh for my taste (prefer silk dome type). But even so, these are a great value.

The included harnesses made hooking up the speakers a snap. I had to mod the factory mounting bracket a little though.
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are absolutely horrible!!!!!! Bought four for my Dakota Quad cab and mated to an Alpine Head Unit they distort at very low volume, sound muddy on the lows and tinny on the highs - Will be putting the Stock speakers back in as soon as I get the chance - how bad is that.....

Very full sound.

1994 Saturn SC1
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The $40 is a bargain for these. I found them cheaper elsewhere, but Crutchfield made sure I had everything to get them in my car without a single headache.

They perform very well for their price. I put them in the rear deck of my SC1 and they're hooked up to my Alpine 50 x 4 headunit. They produce a very full sound. The bass is very tight, not sloppy and it's deep and resonant. I mounted the tweeters in the middle of the speaker (it's somewhat of a pain getting the wire through the center, but nothing near difficult) and it sounds great. The tweeters produce amazing treble. So they have the full range of sound covered. I'm really satified with these and I'm betting my next audio purchase will be from Audiobahn again.

2000 Dodge Durango Installation

Phillip from Romney, WV on 3/26/2006

The wiring in the manual diagram is wrong. I had to call and talk to a tech. and find out which terminals to connect the tweeters to. I also didn't like that you have to cut the factory wiring harness off and splice the wires to the speakers. Other than that, the speakers sound great. The factory speakers were really distorted at high levels. These speakers have crystal clear highs and deep pounding lows and I am using these with a factory headunit.
I have only connected a new CD unit to another car once before and I am pretty new to this stuff and I had no trouble with the master sheet. The price and the sound make these speakers a must have!
Also, I had to use tin snips to trim the plastic mounting bracket so i could fit these speakers into the factory plastic mounting bracket. Other than having to improvise a little and a little extra work, about 2 hours in all, the installation was just a one man job.

Low price, Big sound!

Darren from Lihue, Hawaii on 3/14/2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in the rear quarter panel of my '99 toyota tacoma extra cab. Installation was a walk in the park. Wiring documentation for the tweeters is a little sparse. These sound just as good, if not better than the Infinity Reference 6012's I installed in the front doors. Maybe its because the rear quaters are more confined and enclosed, but i'm not sure. These speakers put out really nice highs and ample amount of bass. Makes a really good match for my Pioneer DEH-P3800MP Head Unit. Purchased my entire system from Crutchfield for $270, what a bargain. Thanx again Crutchfield for your outstanding customer service. Five stars for these speakers and Five stars for Crutchfield.

audiobahn does it again

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

great speakers , very good bass performance. I love the way you can add the tweeters separate or together . I replaced the polks 6 1/2's I had in the front doors cause to me were horrible . these audiobahn speakers sound a hundred times better then the polks. The instruction booklet that comes with audiobahn speakers were horrible, very confusing on polarity of the tweeter installation . very happy with my purchase. These audiobahns were installed in my wrx , fitment was great with spacers, no problems with window operation or placement of door cards.I say again guys YOU NEED SPACERS TO INSTALL THESE AUDIOBAHN in your subaru wrx, sti's very large magnet's .

Shane from Lafayette LA on 3/11/2006

These things rock. WAYYYYYY better than stock, but what isn't- [stock sux]- these little guys pack some serious sound [BASS] for such a small speaker. Must say that in order to truely enjoy what they can do, you must have a good aftermarket headunit, stock just doesn't know what to do with these badboys. But even with a stock headunit they still sound amazing. Removable tweeter is sweet- just like its big brother the AS96Q. Can mount where you like.

I SERIOUSLY RECOMEND THESE!!!

PPPSSSS!!! These are rather hefty and the wiring is a little complicated. If The Crutchfield "WHAT FITS" says they don't it's b/c ANY speaker that does not line up perfectly to the vehicle you specify will disply that icon- did it to me {04 Corolla} and they fit perfect. Oh Ya, and there's plenty of mounting hardware along with them.

Not so great for a GM Monsoon system

Otto from Hickory, NC on 3/5/2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't recommend dropping these in as a replacement for GM factory Monsoon 2-ohm units. Sounds like the boom-box I had in junior high. You might want to spring for the Infinity Kappas or replace the factory amp in this application.

They do sound better in the sail panels, where the factory 4/4 ohm DVC subs were. Of course, SVC yields half the power as installed, but again that's the application.

Very good speakers

1999 Nissan Altima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are unbelievably good speakers for the price. I used these as rear deck speakers to compliment my Rockford Fosgate speakers in the front...the Rockford's cost me about 3 times as much and these sound almost as good at 1/3 the can choose to mount them coaxal or as a separate tweeter and mid, but you will need and additional cross over to do that...they sound really fine...nothing comes close in this price range...

SOOOO much better than stock

I swapped out my old factory Bose system (in my 95 maxima) with these, & it made a huge difference! The clarity is much better, as is the bass! It was well worth the install.

These replaced my factory infinity speakers in my Jeep Cherokee. All I can say is wow. It has been several years since I was big into car audio and what an improvement. The sound quality is awsome. Easy to install and a great price.

1997 Dodge Neon
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

the instructions are skeletal and the diagrams (which cover several audiobahn products) do not precisely match the speaker. when the tweeters are screwed into the main speaker, you end up with a "bird's nest" of wires behind the speaker and i had significant interference problems with the window crank mechanism on the passenger side front door of my '97 neon. more short sheet metal screws (there are only 2) should be supplied to mount the speaker to the adapter ring. once installed, they sound fine -- but be prepared for some jury-rigging in order to get things to fit. on the plus side, the magnets are nice and heavy and you get speakers with a butyl rubber surround -- not bad for the price. for the price and with low expectations they're fine. i think you can do better with regard to fit and instructions.

Black Carbon Injection Cone: The carbon injected poly cone is rigid to avoid cone flex, reducing distortion. The cone is also very light to improve detail and transient response.

Butyl Rubber Surround: The carbon injected cone and butyl rubber surround combine to offer great durability.

Voice Coil: The 2-Layer high temperature ASV voice coil helps avoid the heat build-up that will damage a speaker in a high powered system.

Tweeters: Each speaker has a dome tweeter for a wide dispersion pattern. The tweeters can also pivot in their housings about 30° for a more customized installation. A Polyswitch Circuit provides thermal protection from the tweeter from being overpowered.

Mounting: The tweeters can be mounted in the center of the woofers to create a typical coaxial speaker, or they can be mounted separately using the included flush mount or angled surface mount housings. The woofers are shipped with the tweeter replacement inserts installed. Those inserts are easily unscrewed to install the tweeters.

Measurements: Depending on the method of mounting, the tweeter measurements are as follows:

 • Coaxial: Mounting height=0.573" and Tweeter protrusion=0.204" respectively
 • Flush Mount: Depth=0.884", Height=0.288", Cutout Diameter=1.587", Frame Diameter=2.011"
 • Angled Surface Mount: Width=1.596", Height=1.564", Depth=1.728"

Crossover: Crossovers for the tweeters are soldered to the wire terminals on the woofers. The amplifier is wired to the input terminals on the woofers, then the tweeters are wired to the output terminals on the woofers. Thirteen inch wires with quick slides are included for connecting the tweeters.

Mounting: The speakers can be mounted in a 6-3/4" opening or, using the supplied adapters, the speakers can be mounted in an oversized GM/Chrysler 6-1/2" opening.
