Pros: easy to use
Cons:
GREAT BIG HELP
Pros: WELL MADE, WORKED GREAT INEXPENSIVE
Cons: NONE
Even if you only install one car stereo, you will want this tool. It saves your dash and trim panels from damage during removal. Far superior to a flat head screwdriver. It's so inexpensive, I don't know why anyone would go without for an install. It pays for itself in peace of mind alone the first time you use it.
Pros: Price, ease of use.
Cons: None, seriously.
Great overall. Helped to get door panels off without the worry of scratching paint.
Pros: Very helpful scratch free
Cons: Could Be a little longer. Seemed flimsy at times
Like a plastic little shuriken, great for popping and prying up trim and paneling.
Pros: Effective
Cons: None.
This tool was great for removing the panels in my F150. The panels came apart with no damage and it was very easy to open things up. I will be using this tool for any other times I need to remove panels from a vehicle.
Pros:
Cons:
This is a simple tool that works as one would expect. Normally I use a flat head screw driver to pry apart panels, but it's easy to damage your interior. This tool gets into tight spaces easily without damaging your interior. I feel as if this tool would break before a piece of your interior would.
Pros: Simple. Works.
Cons: None.
Cheap and well made. Did not scuff my dash.
Pros:
Cons:
The Pro.Fit trim tool broke within 5 seconds of trying to pry off my dash trim. I even had the dash trim somewhat loosened by using a screwdriver because this tool was too thick. Even though it broke I was able to use it after prying more with a screwdriver.
Pros: Not expensive
Cons: Broke almost immediately.
Easy to use at a good price
Pros: ease of use
Cons: none
I could not believe how great it was having this tool. It made popping trim off very easy. It would have taken me double the time with out this tool to install the radio and speakers I bought.
Pros: Very easy to use and a great little tool.
Cons: N/A
At first, I was wondering why I needed a tool to take apart a dash, that's what a flat head is for. Then I thought about all of the imperfections I created using a screw driver all of the time. Six dollars is worth the try. I had one piece of the dash that was stuck. I had to pry hard to get it off, and there was no damage after. Worth the six dollars!
Pros: No damage to dash.
Cons: None
I could not have done the job so neatly without this prying tool. It is strong yet gentle enough to pry without breaking any of the plastic pieces in an 18-year-old car.
Pros:
Cons:
It works great has helped me remove door panels and dash a lot faster
Pros: None
Cons: Helps get the job done faster
Great tool easy to use
Pros: Get one for your dash
Cons: None
Perfect installation tool
Pros: makes removing panels easy
Cons: none
Ordered three of these tools. Two were new and fine. The third was in a wrinkled, FILTHY bag, looked like it was from the bottom of a dumpster. The tool inside has dirty scratches and marks on it. Very, very obviously used. Who could ship this? So dirty it could never be shipped by mistake. Trash material only.
Pros: These tools work well when used as intended.
Cons: Got what appeared to be a very used product
Crutchfield response on 9/3/2014 Upon seeing John's review, our Customer Service team refunded him for that third tool. We also alerted our shipping department to the matter. Even if the tool was new and suffered some warehouse damage, it shouldn't have been sent out in that condition.
Helpful tool to take out my old stereo!
Pros:
Cons:
Don't take a chance on damaging your car's trim. This tool is a must have. Forget trying to remove trim with a screwdriver. This thing works like a champ. Make sure you add it to your order.
Pros: Works great!
Cons: None
Very glad I purchased this trim panel tool. Strong enough to remove the panels of our 2002 Nissan Pathfinder easily and with no scratch.
Pros: Price and it gets the job done with ease
Cons: Nothing
This tool was recommended to me while I shopped for my new stereo, and let me tell you, it was worth the money. Easy to use, works great, and didn't damage anything. Which is more than I can say for the metal butter knife I used on my last car. That dashboard STILL cringes when I get in the driver's seat with anything shiny.
Pros: Easy to use, doesn't do any damage, nice and inexpensive
Cons: They don't make these things for wives.
Worked as expected. Allowed radio dash cover and other panels to be removed without scratching.
Pros:
Cons: Point could be a little thinner.
Came in a giant box which was amusing , although a huge waste of packaging. Looked very unassuming but served its purpose. It made taking off the trim pieces in my car very easy with no damage. I have no complaints.
Pros:
Cons:
This tool is sturdy and gets the job done. It did what i needed it to do and that was get the console frame off.
Pros: Durable, wont break. Doesnt leave marks
Cons: In some spots maybe too thick
great tool for the job and inexpensive
Pros:
Cons:
Very basic tool, but did exactly what I needed it to do. Tip is pointed just enough to get behind the trim without damaging anything in the process. Price is right also.
Pros: Price Proper function
Cons: None noted
Why I hadn't bought this tool earlier is beyond me. Incredibly useful tool for any number of applications. Look at the price, and just buy it.
Pros: If you don't have it, buy it.
Cons: None.
I bought this so that I wouldn't mess up my interior taking it apart. I didn't use it at first because the gap between the pieces of my console were too close, so I just used a ruler... I took my radio back out to change some of my setup and I used it the next time though!
Pros: Less likely to scuff your console
Cons: Thicker than it needs to be at the tip. It should have a finer point.
super helpful tool... really cut down on my cursing during the latest stereo installation!!
Pros: made teardown extremely easy.
Cons: could be visibility orange
Great product. helped remove door trim without marring up plastic.
Pros: does good job, good price.
Cons: none
The right tool for the job
Pros: Allows you to do professional work at home
Cons: None
This tool worked very well; it did not scratch the panels and made removing the dash very easy. It is plastic so you need to be careful when applying force and be careful of prying with just the tip. I have used it twice and it has been a great tool to have.
Pros: Very effective, makes removing the panels easier
Cons: Be careful when prying so you don't break it.
A must have when removing car panels
Pros: easy to use
Cons: none
This little piece of plastic is nothing short of amazing! I have some similar tools made of metal and I've always had to be very careful to not scratch the finish or cut the edge of what I'm prying up, but not with this tool. I could just shove it under an edge and run it along pushing the cable in behind it and it came out perfect. I wish I'd got this a long time ago. Could have saved a lot of time spend touching up scratches.
Pros: very robust, nice edge for getting into and under tight areas.
Cons: none
Great tool so glad I got it
Pros: Was great
Cons:
Very helpful and insulation process... Made every step easier
Pros:
Cons:
Very good product, very helpful!!
Pros:
Cons:
Not a bad tool in pinch situations, however if you're really trying to get out something (let's say a dash) it's about as useless as pouring gas on a fire. It's made alright for most projects, but don't put too much strain on the pour injection molded plastic or it will warp/break. I used mine twice already and found it already has stress fractures right about the middle of the handle and on the tip.
Pros: Works for light pry jobs
Cons: Poor overall quality, price is far too high for the quality.
Such a simple tool yet it works wonders. I used to break so many plugs but with this little simple tool that no longer is a problem if mine
Pros: Simple tool, with every penny
Cons: None
Best gadget tool ever! I used it on a bunch of cars. I am very glad it was recommended.
Pros:
Cons:
It worked o.k. - but I think a broad flat end would be more versatile
Pros:
Cons:
Works well.
Pros:
Cons:
This is a no-brainer-- if you have to pull trim, add this tool to your order. Helps you remove whatever's in your way in seconds and protects your vehicle's interior from any scratches and gouges. Use it over and over as you customize.
Pros: Inexpensive, durable, easy to use, protects your trim, makes installations a breeze.
Cons:
Great tool. Easy to use and did not damage any trim.
Pros:
Cons:
Simple easy way to remove dash panels. I am handy, but was truly surprised how easy it was to remove the dash panels in my Honda Civic.
Pros: Inexpensive and effective
Cons: None
This little tool made removing the dash and door panels a snap!!
Pros:
Cons:
An essential tool for disassembling doors and dashboards. Won't mar the panels or metal. Inexpensive, and well worth the price. Just the right amount of strength and flexibility.
Pros: Strong, won't mar surfaces
Cons: None
I have installed hundreds of car stereos for friends and family with great success and with no damage to dash removal components thanks to this tool. Previously everyone used screwdrivers wrapped in tape to minimize the damage a steel blade can make when removing your car dash panels. This is no longer an issue with this tool. Great design.
Pros: Only tool needed to remove car dashes for stereo installations.
Cons: None.
It's a super-useful tool for popping retaining clips, removing dash panels, and other plastic parts without scratching up the interior of the car. Its edges are rounded slightly, so you might have to pull a bit with the tips of your fingers to give it purchase, but I've used it removing my instrument cluster, radio dash, doors, roof liner, and pretty much anywhere there's plastic in my car. A few reviews have stated it could be thinner, and while this would be nice it would probably lose some of its strength if it were any thinner. As it is I can use it to really leverage out retaining clips: Thinner and it'd bend or break.
Pros: Inexpensive, useful, doesn't scratch plastic
Cons: None
I found that it was not strong enough to pop off the panel clips It was bending I could not use it.
Pros: None
Cons: Not strong
Cheap enough for my one time use and didn't scratch any interior trim. Plastic did start to chip away from my one use.
Pros:
Cons:
This tool served me well to remove Door Panels and works pretty great, It has frayed a bit with the limited use however so I dont know about using it long term it would wear down pretty quickly.
Pros: gets the job done
Cons: Not very durable for long term use, but great for a weekend warrior project.
The tool is awesome because it doesn't damage the trim, however the tip should be a little thinner.
Pros: Doesn't damage trim, is long, is strong
Cons: tip is a bit too thick
this tool works pretty well. no pry or scratch marks on interior plastic panels like you get from using a small screwdriver..... it has smooth edges which have a small amount of flex to them.
Pros: works very well and leaves no pry marks
Cons: none so far
If you don't have one, You DEFINITELY need one. Replace trim panels without marring and goobering them up a screwdriver or cracking something by prying too hard!
Pros: Best thing since peanut butter in a jar!
Cons: I could be about 2" longer with a thinner tongue on one end and a wider one on the other end.
Better than a screwdriver, simple product that does what it's intended to.
Pros: Works well
Cons: none
This is a must have for self installation. I used this tool to remove the dash and doors on my truck to install tweeters and front and rear speakers. It's cheap in price only.
Pros: Cheap($)
Cons: None
I recently ordered it to install my car stereo and I removed my dash board correctly without damaged. Great tool!
Pros:
Cons:
worked like it should
Pros: did its job
Cons:
Too fat, wouldn't fit in to pry panels up. ad to find a set of tools here in town.
Pros: None.
Cons: To fat. Tape on a screwdriver would have been better.
Great trim tool for the money
Pros: Good pricing, tool works
Cons:
Nice little tool that helped pry the plastic apart without marring it. I thought it would be a bit larger for the price, but it did the job well.
Pros: Handy, easy to fit in toolbox, did what it was supposed to.
Cons: Was afraid to put too much pressure on to break it
This little tool is handy for removing trim panels from door panels. It is thin and strong enough to pry with. My only complaint is that it wasn't quite thin enough to get behind everything. I still has to use a flat blade, but this tool was a great help and didn't leave a single scratch.
Pros:
Cons:
Worked perfectly and didn't scratch or gouge my interior like some other tools I have used did. It made removing the door panels and center console a cinch.
Pros: Strong and durable, worked just as it should have.
Cons: The tip is a little thick but it worked fine.
yup, came in handy
Pros: smooth
Cons: somewhat on the thick side
Does the trick and is fairly gentle on the trim pieces. I did break a small part of the cupholder prying it out, but that was more operator error than a flaw with the tool.
Pros: Flexible; strong
Cons: None
Good tool, did the job nicely. Worked will on my 2004 Dodge quad cab.
Pros: Works pretty well for Beginner/Novice level installer. Doesn't scratch or gouge your interior trim pieces. Cheap Price!!
Cons: Lacks a little overall strength.
Works decently for the price. Could have more overall strength, and/or leverage. Still, not bad, and Very Helpful on recent install of Pioneer head unit in 1999 Honda Accord. If you don't have any trim tools at all, this is a good buy for the price, and won't scratch or gouge your trim pieces.
Pros: Works pretty well for Beginner/Novice level installer. Doesn't scratch or gouge your interior trim pieces. Cheap Price!!
Cons: Lacks a little overall strength, and/or leverage.
A very handy tool for working on car interiors. Helps pop off trim piece without damaging them like a screwdriver might. it's only five bucks and well worth it.
Pros: Handy, cheap
Cons: None
This tool definitely came in handy when removing some of the trim pieces when I replaced my stock Shaker 500 with the JVC unit.
Pros: Slim and easy to hold
Cons: ( none )
i love this. easy to use and good quallity.
Pros:
Cons:
Keep this tool! It is pliant and workable. Very handy!!!!
Pros:
Cons:
work like a champ made removeing dash trim easy as well as door and side trim no scratches easy to use thanks crutchfield
Pros: easy to use
Cons: none
I bought this and I must say I'm glad I chose this tool. It helped me remove my door trim cleanly and safely. I recommend this for anyone who is removing panels or trim in their car and wants to do it with ease.
Pros:
Cons:
i am constantly removing panels in vehicles for stereo replacements or window tinting and have tried alot of different items. this tool is perfect. i am glad i can now have a tool that makes it alot easier. for removal of panels of todays vehicles this is a must.
Pros:
Cons:
Made the tool work, but it could have been easier if it was designed more toward a pry tool (curved edge at least one side)
Pros:
Cons:
Its a dull plastic knife. That works great for removing auto trim. I wonder if the manufacturers know of this ? :)
Pros:
Cons:
It worked
Pros:
Cons:
This makes the job so much easier, and my dash didn't get a scratch.
Pros:
Cons:
I almost passed on this tool but that would have been a big mistake. Simple, effective, does what it needs to do without tearing or damaging interior parts. Made the job go faster.
Pros:
Cons:
If your dash is anything but easy don't bother with this tool. It broke immediately upon use.
Pros:
Cons:
Product does what it is designed to do, but I still had to use a flat head screwdriver along with this product. Tool is scratched after one use but still in descent working condition. I would've probably ended up scratching my panel if I hadn't bought this product.
Pros:
Cons:
Well, it lasted for a good 20 minutes before it snapped in half... VERY cheap plastic. I ended up wrapping a butter knife in clear tape and using it instead.
Pros:
Cons:
As noted, this is a soft plastic tool that can easily break the tip if there's a lot of upward force applied to the tip. This tool is for going in straight to separate trim pieces. The good news is that a piece of very fine emory cloth or sandpaper can fashion a new tip if you've got the patience!
Pros:
Cons:
This trim tool broke almost immediantley upon use. I did not use it to pry anythinhg, I just inserted it inbetween the dash and trim. A small chip in the point was the first to go (which also vioded the thin edge of the blade) then a larger part broke off...the tool was useless...
Pros:
Cons:
This tool gets an unfair bad rap in some reviews. Any plastic tool will break if used for prying. This tool is designed to be wedged behind trim or slid along trim edges, hence its shape. Don't pry hard and it won't break. The tip may deform slightly if extreme pressure is applied to the tip, but that's all. I used this tool to remove door sills, kick panels, air vents, a head unit, a glove box, glove box trim, and to re-seat rubber door seals with no damage to any trim or seals. The panel tool is still in one piece and can be used again. Remember: Be gentle and the panel tool will not break!
Pros:
Cons:
Absolutely the best tool for taking the dash apart. No scratches, no marring, no marks of any kind. I will definately ALWAYS keep one of these around!
Pros:
Cons:
Bought this to install a new receiver and speakers in a 2007 Nissan Frontier extra cab. It worked great to slide behind dash trim panels and door panels. The very end of it got worn down a bit but I just filed it to make it smooth and round again. This tool was a big help. It didn't scratch anything. I highly recommend it.
Pros:
Cons:
I was able to use this item one time. When I went to use it the second time the tip broke off. If you plan to only install one item behind something plastic that has to be wedged open then it will work for you.
Pros:
Cons:
This tool is excellent but pricey. It does a good job not to mar plastic dash pieces.
Pros:
Cons:
I've rated this as a one star, because it broke on the first try. I'm not a strong person and I was follow the direction as well. So it was a surprise when I place it in between the dashboard and the panel and applied pressure to see it snapped in two.
Pros:
Cons:
Helped out greatly in getting the dash off my explorer but cracked and is now unusable. Its worth exactly what you pay for it.
Pros:
Cons:
I am a professional automotive equipment installer with over 25 years of experience. I purchased this tool and use it in conjunction with my Multi Wedge Set to easily remove dashboards, knee bolsters, door panels, consoles, trim panels, etc. from every type of vehicle new and old from Audi models to Peterbilt tractors to powerboats and motorhomes. The tool performs great and is especially useful for snaking wiring under carpet and plastic panels, and window trim panels, etc. In addition, I also purchased three more to give as Christmas gifts to my installer buddies and they love the tool as well.
Pros:
Cons:
So this is a pretty good tool, but it's not really made for strong pannels. It appears it is more useful for fixing the trip when fabric folds over it. Either way it did the job I required it for and I can still use it again, though a crack has appeard. If I was going to buy another, I would probably go with one a little stronger.
Pros:
Cons:
I should have bought the Multi Wedge Trim Panel Tools #6943400 instead because this held up for like 2 minutes and is now unusable. It did, however, help out substantially.
Pros:
Cons:
Works well, but doesn't hold up. The tool gets dinged up pretty badly after one use. But it does do what it is supposed to do.
Pros:
Cons:
Well, you get what you pay for with this item. After only one install, the edges of the tool are marred and worn. It is really not even rigid enough to fit into tight spaces in the car's trim. I can't complain too much because of the price, but I would invest in something a little more solid if you plan to use it more than once.
Pros:
Cons:
This tool has been very useful for removing panels. It is much smaller than I thought it would be, but it gets the job done. The only drawback is that is is a little too flexible for panels that need more than average pressure to remove. For the price you can't beat it.
Pros:
Cons:
