Sanus BF16B Speaker Stands
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
easy assembly perfect height for my application
How about furniture-grade speaker stands that are not only stylish, but can actually help improve your speakers' performance? Sanus' Basic Foundations® stands give you all that in an affordable package!
Basic Foundation stands are made with sturdy MDF (the same material used in many quality speaker cabinets) to resist unwanted resonance. Their twin contoured pillar design offers rock-steady support. Speaker wires run down a groove between the pillars a snap-in black cover completely conceals the wires from sight, leaving just the clean lines of the stand. The stands come with triangular isolation pads for the top plate, to protect the speaker's finish, and provide additional resonance damping.

easy assembly perfect height for my application
These speakers stands were the perfect height for what I needed and they are very stable. Nice stands for the price.
Excellent value and product for our Polk book shelf surround sound. 5 stars
This was my first time to purchase speaker stands. I found the quality of the stands to be excellent. It was very easy to put together and I found the pieces fit perfectly. The screw holes were drilled perfectly allowing me to put them together without any problem. I would highly recommend these speaker stands for your purchase.
Speakers stands look good, craftsmanship is good except for flimsy plastic insert at the rear of the stand which is hidden if the back of the stands are against a wall. Rated 4 out of 5 stars because they are a bit pricey for what you get.
Pros: Overall quality
Cons: Flimsy plastic insert at rear which hides the speaker wire
A solid, unassuming stand with a nice look.
Good hight for my speakers. Price was good for what you get.
Pros: Easy Peasy used for front speakers right hight
Cons: Screws for putting stand together will strip out if you are a bit Heavy handed
The only bad thing that I can say is the the other reviews are correct when they say that the material used to hide the wires is very cheap. Other than that I have no complaints. The stands removed a great deal of vibration that was translating over to my turntable and causing a very loud hum that distorted the sound at higher levels. It's partially my fault as the speakers are right next to my audio table but I have little room and nowhere else to put them.
Pros: Great vibration reduction
Cons: Cheap wire hiding material and screws can easily be over-tightened.
This is a great product..! Easy assembled Love them.. Use them for front bookshelfs speakers with tower speakers for rears center channel with 12" subwoofer.....
Pros: All pros
Cons: No Cons
Very easy to assemble and it looks great!
Very easy assembly. Sturdy, perfect fit. Exactly what he needed.
Pros: Ez assembly Sturdy Look nice
Great quality stands and for the price it's a great deal :)
I purchased this set of speaker stands because I had a need for a short speaker stand. These did the trick! The are built OK, not the worst but definitely not the best. Three out of the eight pre-drilled screws were over drilled and the screw did not tighten well on each stand. The hole for pass through of the wire was a bit small and had to be drilled to make it larger. I use a thick speaker wire by Monster Cable. All in all a great stand for the money.
Pros: nice finish, includes isolation feet for stand and has wire management
Cons: some pre-drilled holes are to big and screws don't tighten well.
rock solid wood stands four your speakers
It is very hard to find speaker stands that are only 16 inches tall, but these stands do a fine job of holding my vintage Bang and Olufsen speakers at just the right height. Assembly was easy and they seem to be very sturdy. I pre-fitted the screws before assembly as suggested by other reviewers, but the screws went in very easily, so I'm not sure it was entirely necessary. All in all I feel these speakers stands are a good value.
Stands get the speakers off the floor
Pros: Easy to assemble
Product just as described. It was easy to put together, only took me about 10 minutes The height is not quite 16 inches tall, but it was close, and the construction of the stands is solid. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Speaker stands have gotten ridiculously expensive, given their actual cost of construction. This Sanus stand is good value for the money. It does what it is supposed to do - solidly hold up a speaker, not interfere with the sound, and basically disappear. It's easy to put together (I think it took me less than 10 minutes for two stands).
Pros: Perfect height for my speakers and listening position. Solidly made. Easy to put together and place. And they provide a more than stable enough base for my speakers.
Cons: They might not be heavy enough for some audiophiles (though they are quite stable) or stylish enough for some interior designers.
They are nice looking but not very sturdy and you best have your own selection of screws, the ones that come with it strip very easily.
Cons: Cheaply made
I needed a pair of speaker stands and these were perfect. My 2 front speakers are 16in. high. The stands are 16in tall. The price was also right. Plus got them the next day. I'll rate them 5 stars.
Pros: They were perfect for me.
Very sleek, nice design & strong enough to hold my 30 pound polk audi book shelf speakers.
Pros: great buy for the money !
They do exactly what they're supposed too...
These stands are quite good for the money. Currently they are supporting rather large Technics speakers from the mid-80's, certainly larger than "bookshelf", and there's no issues so far. The stands are black, and the finish is decent but not perfectly smooth, there's some texture to it. The finish on my set had an area visible where the finish didn't fill completely, showing wood... but a sharpie marker took care of that. From a few feet away they look great. The assembly was quick but it's easy to overtighten the screws, so use care when tightening. The carpet spikes are plastic and press in. There's little rubber bits provided to stick on the top corners, and these give the speaker something to grab onto and provide isolation I guess. The speaker wires can run through the stands to hide them. All told, I'm happy with these and would buy them again if I need some larger stands.
Pros: Not too expensive; Easy assembly; Black compliments any decor
Cons: Overtightening screws can cause loose joints; Finish is on the cheap side
Bought these for my Martin Logan Motion 15 bookshelf speakers and they worked out great. They were simple to assemble and are fairly sturdy stands. Prompt service as always from Crutchfields.
Pros: Sturdy and easy assembly
Cons: No issues
Well built product.
I was looking for a solid pair of speaker stands for my Polk A1 surrounds. This pair of stands are well built, solid and do a great job. And with Crutchfield's rewards points I got a great deal.
Pros: Great looking. Solid.
great product for price
Easy assembly. Sturdily supports a shelf type speaker.
Just what I needed to lift my speakers off the floor for better sound. Easy to assemble...looks fine and the price is right. Couldn't be more pleased!
Pros: Design doesn't overpower the speakers or decor of my home theater. Great price.
Cons: Wire cover on back could be longer.
These stands are a great value. I echo the other five star reviews. They are well made with some nice details, like being able to hide the wires. I assembled them in under 5 minutes.
Pros: Great value, wood construction, easy assembly.
Wow, what wonderful match for me Cerwin Vega E Series bookshelf speakers. Easy to assemble, very attractive, sturdy and you can't beat the price for such a well constructed speaker stand.
I have a taller 24in one for speakers. This 16in one is actually very nice just as a stand for a laptop(!), for times when I just want to sit on the floor and mess around on the computer! It's a great height and solid support for that (although I might have liked the 18in model better for that, depends on your height I guess). This whole line is very nice construction, no slippage, attractive black. My only one modify suggestion is ditch this silly carpet spikes and get some medium-size self-stick black vinyl bumpers for the base (at any hardware store). I did that even for the taller speaker usage (and especially for that one).
These speakers stands are a very good value. They a nice in appearance with clean lines and well thought out cable access. Although the material is composite it looks nice and they function well. You are not going to find a better speaker stand anywhere near this price.
Pros: Inexpensive and easy to assemble. Clean lines and well thought out design.
Cons: Composite wood.
These are made of composite-wood layers, relatively cheap feeling. Decent heft though. Obviously intended as floor stands (who needs a 16" floor stand?) but I use mine for my desk. They include carpet tacks for the bottom, and rubber pads for the top to reduce speaker vibrations. As my speakers have peg legs and I'm using Auralex foam anyway, I used the rubber pads on the bottom in lieu of the pegs and it works well on my wood desk. Major con is the wire management holes -- they are incredibly tiny (especially at the top) and nothing bigger than a single 3.5mm cable can go through. In addition it requires the wire to pass under the speaker (directly under, on top of the speaker platform) which will not work for many speakers. I remedied this myself by drilling the bottom hole larger and cutting a hole in the plastic "privacy" sheath insert that goes on the back of the stand. Wires aren't completely hidden, but they only protrude from the back for a few inches. I'm using these with my relatively large bookshelf speakers (KEF x300a), which could be one source of the disfunction. However, the analog wires for my more-suitably sized mini speakers (Corsair SP2600) are still too large to pass through cable management due to their connector. In short, these do the job in a category where there is a dismal lack of selection (desk stands for bookshelf speakers) and there are no problems a little home-remedy can't fix.
Pros: Affordable Tall Easy Assembly Good Heft
Cons: Wood Laminate - Not Solid Small Cable Management Holes
I like these cause they're wood. Most others are metal. Simple to put together, no problems. There is no tilt to them like the old ones I have but I expect that because of the height. Over all, good stands, great price and free shipping!
Pros: Made of wood, price.
Lot's of pressed particle board or other light wood. I'm willing to pay a bit more for real wood that has some heft to it. Don't knock into these with the vacuum cleaner or they'll go right over. Also, the should include tacky rubber pads for the bottoms. These would work well on hardwood and other flat surfaces. I'm sure the rug spikes would work fine.
Pros: Price. Easy assembly.
Cons: Needs non-slip pads.
stands are attractive and solidly made, should be good for a long time
Pros: stylish, easy to assemble
Afetr reading some very negative reviews about this product on another website, I crossed my fingers and ordered these stands anyway. I was surprised to discover that the negative turned into a positive! The stands WERE NOT difficult to assemble......the wood DID NOT split when attaching pieces together.......and they are sturdy and DO NOT wobble. Very happy I purchased!
Pros: Practical and just the right size.
Cons: Screw "tops" are visible on base top, but are covered by speaker placement.
VERY NICE WORKS GREAT
Very well made and very easy to assemble.
Pros: Like the center hole for the speaker wire and the carpet spikes.
I purchased these based on the previous reviews left here at Crutchfield. After I made the order, I looked at them on other websites and almost half of the buyers of this product had trouble with wood splitting while installing the screws. The second largest complaint is the height of the stands. Just use a 1/8" drill bit and drill out the holes at each ends of the supports. Should you have to do this? Well, no but this is a common problem on all put together furniture. As for the height, I do not understand why they are advertised as 16" when they are just a little over 14 1/2". Overall, these are fairly nice stands. They give my Polk Audio Monitor 40's the presence they deserve. As for price, in my opinion this is a $20 kit. Crutchfield shipped them fast.
Pros: Decent design and sturdy stands.
Cons: Height, the need to drill out holes and a little overpriced
Product was shipped and received promptly from Crutchfield. It took only a few minutes to assemble the stands. These were advertised as "basic" stands and that is exactly what they are. Base is wide for good stability and finish is good. These stands were fine for my purpose but would not go well where aesthetics were more of a concern
Pros: Inexpensive, stable, & easy assembly
Cons: Basic finish, not very attractive looking.
The SanusBF 16B speaker stands offer a high quality, reasonably priced stands that are well constructed and aesthetically pleasant in any listening room environment. These stands assemble easily, offer internal wiring to minimize speaker wire exposure and can support speaker weight up to 25 pounds. I consider the Sanus BF 16B speaker to be a leader inits class for speaker stand choice
Pros: Easy to assemble - aesthetically pleasant - hidden wiring capability - quality materials - economic
Cons: none that I can think of
Nice stands but DO NOT use an electric screwdriver to put these together. It will run the screw down too far and split the wood. I learned the hard way. I think it does say this in the directions somewhere but I didn't realize it until after the damage was done.
The stands were easy to assemble and for the price, were more than I expected. There not fancy but they sure are functional.
Crutchfield delivered the goods promptly, they were well packed. The instructions were clear and the assembly pieces were there and actual assembly was straight forward, max 20 minutes for both and only required simple hand tools.. The stands are wood/fiberboard painted black and when put together provide a sturdy 16 inch platform for bookshelf size speakers. Both the bottom and shelf provide enough real estate for proper weight dispersion and minimize vibration. The price is well within reason when compared to other stands. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I received the speaker stand sooner than expected! High quality product! I would recommend to anyone!
Pros: Easy to put together! Quality product
They do exactly what they are supposed to do and are attractive.
I have some fairly heavy ADS speakers and these stands work fine with them. They look good too.
Pros: look good, work, cheap
Great Product Looks Great Easy to put together
Pros: Looks Great Easy assy.
Easy to assemble, stable and nice looking. Didn't have an issue with the wood splitting that the other reviewer mentioned. In my experience, the only oddity worth mentioning is in regards to the holes drilled into the base and support platform that are intended to allow the speaker wire to be routed through them. The holes are pretty small, so if you're using heavy-gauge wire you're probably not going to be able to route the cable through the holes without spending a little time with a wood file to widen the holes. You certainly won't be able to route the cable through the hole if you're using banana plugs (not a big deal if you're using the screw-on type).
Pros: Easy assembly, nice looking
Cons: Aside from the speaker wire hole oddity, none
great value for the price. I did have the wood split during assembly, only on one screw hole ( and in the rear, so its not visable). But overall the speakers sit nice on stands and sound great. My speakers are B&W, isolation is good as sanus provides rubber pads. For the price , you cant beat them and assembly is very easy!
Pros: easy to assemble, look good, speakers sound good placed on them
Cons: wood splits in the rear, due to design. I tried drilling the screw holes larger and screw stripped out.
Great for the price, parts were missing from the package, called up Sanus and getting the parts in the mail within 72 hours, other then that my bookshelf speakers sit great on them, Also I'm sure you know already but cant get better then Cructhfield service!!!<BR>
Overview: The BF16b speaker stands are constructed of MDF, which offers superior strength and resists unwanted resonance. The twin contoured pillars are aligned in a "V" configuration, offering additional rigidity and providing for the Speaker Cable Management System. A cover snaps into channels on the back of the pillars, hiding the cables from view. The supplied floor spikes further minimize resonance and provide stability on carpeting. The special triangular isolation pads are placed on the top plate for speaker protection and acoustic isolation.
Note: Each stand can support up to 25 pounds.

Unless they are custom made, choices (not just from this merchant) for stands of this height, necessary for where they will be located, are minimal. I chose the BF16B for my Polk TSi200's because I needed to isolate the vibrations from the speakers due to the large amount of bass that they put out. The BF16B's are made of MDF which is designed to isolate vibration which is a large reason why it is also used in the manufacture of speaker enclosures. Plus, they were very budget friendly! That is going to depend on the size of the speakers. The main things to consider are the width, depth and weight of the speakers. The stands top plate is 7" x 7", and it can support up to 25 pounds. [ Jeff May 08, 2014 ] Staff
