Sanus NF30 Speaker Stands
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Overall, the stands look good and fit my KEF and SVS bookshelf speakers well. The plastic speaker wire covers need to be improved.
High-performance speakers deserve high-performance stands. From top to bottom, Sanus' latest wood speaker stands combine fine furniture looks with ultra-rigid construction for solid support and optimum sound quality.
Each base and top plate is made of anti-resonant MDF and has a smooth low-luster black finish. Brass speaker studs and neoprene pads are included to isolate the speaker from the top plate. Plastic feet for the underside of the base plate protect wood or tile floors (adjustable carpet spikes also included). A patent-pending concealed speaker wire path on the rounded support pillar keeps cables out of sight. Assembly takes just minutes.

Overall, the stands look good and fit my KEF and SVS bookshelf speakers well. The plastic speaker wire covers need to be improved.
These are very nice stands, I use them for my Fluance Signatures Series Surround sound, Easy to setup just took a bit of time to setup the back to hide the cable wires but well worth the money, The are built nice and dont wobble with the adjustable floor spikes that i perfer to use since i have hardwood floors. Here are a few pics
Pros: Sturdy & great quality & finish
Cons: To hide the cable wires just took some time to setup
Decent for the money. Packaging not good. They need to be double boxed. Hard to get wire covers on. Finish mediocre.
Nicely made and easy assembly. One of the top plates has a damaged corner but chatting with Crutchfield I was told they will send a new piece. Crutchfield has always stepped up to excellent customer service .
Pros: Nice design, quick assembly
Easy to assemble and very stable
Pros: Look great and stable.
Overall, stands do exactly the job I was looking for. They advertise a limit of 25 pounds. My speakers are just under 10 kilos, so 22 pounds. I would take the limit seriously. They offer different options for the top plate and the feet. I had to do a little experimenting to figure out what was best for me. My advice for the top plate -- use the biggest ones that fit completely under your speaker (don't stick out on either side). Having edges of top plate sticking out from under the speaker seems like an invitation to accidents. For feet, the area I have speakers in is carpeted, so I began thinking that the leveling carpet spikes would be best, but they did not feel stable. So I just went with the rubber feet and it feels fine. Overall, fairly light, so not as stable as might be, but then not paying as much as other stands, so guess you get what you pay for. One note -- one of the screws for the base had no grooves. Had to go to hardware store. Best match appears to be drywall screws. Also there are supposed to be four little plastic plates that go on back of post to route speaker wire through. There were only three. And about those little plates -- it's a pain to route wire through them, especially if there are banana plugs on the wires. I guess they make it neat, but I think i will just use cable clips. Also, those plates are easiest to put on from top or bottom -- so they go on before the base or top plate is attached to the post. Overall, happy enuff.
Pros: Pretty easy to assemble. Would have been very easy to assemble if all the parts had been included. Options for both the feet and the top plate. Had to do a little experimenting to figure out what was best for my situation.
Cons: Missing parts. Pretty light. Seem kinda expensive for build quality. But not outrageously so.
very nice stands for smaller bookshelf speakers. nice, clean, good looking design and they are not overly bulky or heavy. more than sturdy enough to support my KEF Q100's which are approx. 12 lbs. has several options for the type of floor the stands will be resting on and how you wish to mount the speakers. blends well with any decor and has a nice satin finish. really, whats not to like about these. good price, gets the job done and looks good doing it...so I got two pairs.
Pros: easy assembly, clean design, sturdy, good looking, not bulky
Overall, good stands and they look nice. The stands are a good height, but you may wanna secure your speakers a little bit better, as they just sit freely on the stands.
Simple design as needed. Well made and nicely finished
Very nice, clean aesthetic look. They fit very nice with the room's existing decor. Speakers are at the perfect height. It's not apparent from the stock photos, but the floor plates come with both the rubber feet pictured for hard floors and also pointed spikes for carpeted floors. You have your choice of either. Also, the speaker support plate at the top come with two choices for holding the speakers, the brass spikes shown in the stock photos or rubber pads for insulated support. One minor quirk with one of my stands: at the point where the pole mounts on the floor plate, I had to sand down a spot to get the surfaces to be flush with each other. Worked great after that though. No issues. Very happy with product . Glad I got these stands.
These stands are very well made and do a great job supporting my Klipsch RM-15 bookshelf monitors. Great service (shipping, notifications, etc.) from Crutchfield.
These are great! I use these for my Klipsch RM 15 speakers on a 7.2 system. They went together very easily and the materials and workmanship are outstanding. I especially like the speaker wire channels to hide the wires. Nice product
Pros: quality, workmanship, ease of putting together
I'm using these stands for rear surrounds. They seem pretty sturdy. They look nice. The cable management is handy. Assembly was simple, and all parts were included in the box. The price was reasonable.
Pros: Range of heights to choose from.
Cons: No negatives at this price point.
These speaker stands were so easy to put together it was ridiculous. I have a little patience putting anything together, these took me less than 5 minutes and they stand very nice next to my TV cabinet.
Pros: Easy to assemble, nice finish, sturdy, perfect height.
Cons: Speaker stand top plate is smaller than the speaker itself. The panels used to conceal wires were tuff to insert, the hole on the plate to feed wires is a bit small.
Very nice looking speaker stands. They come with different options for feet on the base and two different top plates for different shaped speakers.
Pros: Speaker wire is hidden. Different feet options. Two different top plate options.
Really good looking, practical and sturdy. Not badly priced.
These speaker stands are great. There are no issues with packing, assembly, quality, or function. Don't know why I read so many other reviews with shipping damage or assembly issues. Don't hesitate to buy these.
Pros: Very well packed in manufacturer's box. No outer box required. Simple and quick assembly. Albeit one suggestion... put the plastic covers in the slots on the back of the posts before assembling the base and top. Very sturdy stands. Small rubber pads really grip my Martin Logan LX-16 speakers. Looks great with them.
This is my second pair of Sanus speaker stands. Fit and finish are nice. Assembly was relatively easy. They appear to be durable and should work well for my Klipsch bookshelf speakers, which weigh 25 pounds.
Pros: Again, fit & finish are very nice. They appear stable with the plastic feet in place.
Cons: The lack of screws to secure the top plate to my speaker bottoms is a major concern. The brass studs do not secure the speaker to the stand as I would like. Sanus please take note. I hope I didn't waste my money and I really hope that my Klipsch speakers don't get knocked over being that they are not secured to the top plate as I'd hoped.
Easy stand to put together. Quality is nice. Looks great for a speaker stand.
Pros: easy to assemble
Attractive and study stands. Match very well with my Polk CSi100 bookshelf speakers. Used two of the black plastic panels on each stand to hide the wiring. Thought the plastic may break to fit in the rear channels of the stand, but don't worry, just feed from the top and work them down to the bottom of the stand. Looks great with just about any decor.
Pros: Attractive, well made.
Cons: None so far...
Nice product overall. Look good and easy to assemble.
Nice, sturdy, simple, but effective. The carpet spikes help quite a bit with stability. I am pleased with this purchase. I have a pair of Klipsch RB-51 II speakers and I needed to move them away from the wall and out of a bookshelf. The sound is very nice with the current setup.
Pros: Meets expectations.
Easy to assemble, look great with bookshelf speakers. The stands have a good solid heft to them.
A good product for the money. External shipping packing was damaged upon arrival, however they are so well protected with the manufacturers internal packaging that there wasn't a scratch on any of the parts. Easy to assemble (by HAND) and come with a secondary speaker 'shelf' to accommodate larger bookshelf speakers if required. Assembled both in less than 20 min from the time I opened the box!
Pros: Good finish Easy to assemble (no power screwdrivers - must hand tighten due to MDF construction) Great height for surround speakers
Cons: Plastic feet for hardwood floor could be better (rubber perhaps for isolation?)
These stands are nice, and will support more load than advertised. They are strong and look good! I'm using them with Paradigm S2s, which weigh about 4lbs over the advertised limit. Buyers should be aware that for safety speakers need to be screwed to the top plate of the stand, otherwise they could easily be knocked off. There are no pre-drilled holes in the plate, so you will have to drill your own. Most bookshelf speakers have threaded holes in them for such mounting. Kudos to Crutchfield for these stands--I bought a scratch and dent package, saving about 40%. Only problem was a small bit of damage to one of the bases--easily fixed.
Pros: Look good, strong, hold speakers well when mounting holes are drilled and used to secure speakers
Cons: Assembly instructions are rather meager
Well made, Nice finish. Was easy to assembly. Having the speakers on the stands improves the sound quality.
Pros: easy to assembly, hidden wire feature is very nice.
This stand is the perfect height and build for my heavy cherry Klipsch bookshelf speakers. No need to anchor the speakers, just set them on top of the standard mounting plate and run the wire through the hidden channel on the back of the post. Assembly was easy and required less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend these.
Pros: Price, construction, design
They are speaker stands that look and work great! Not much else to say. Crutchfield did an amazing job packing the speaker stands for delivery.
I bought a pair of these to hold my front channel Aperion Audio Book shelf speakers. They shipped quickly, and arrived in good condition. Took about 10 minutes to put each one together. Nice stands for the money. They include two different top plate shapes, the traditional square, and then a second set that are more of a clipped triangle shape. I used the square ones and they hold the speakers as they should. I added some BluTack to help hold the speakers in place on the stands. I might install a bolt that can thread into the bottom of the speaker if stability becomes an issue, but as of now, they are stable on my tile floor.
Pros: Well designed. Fairly priced. Various heights are available (mine were 30" which was perfect for my seating position). Nice neutral black finish. Good selection of hardware feet, spikes for carpet as well as pads for flat floors. Quick service from Crutchfield as always.
Cons: Not heavy duty by any means. Will not support a lot of weight.
These are nice stands and filled a need for me. Just setting up a new entertainment center and integrating an older Sony receiver and speakers. Fairly large speakers, at that. About 15 pounds each. The stands assembled nicely and I had no issues. I would, however, suggest two things. Each stand requires four screws each. Which are furnished. Different lengths for top and bottom. See directions. I suggest setting these by hand. No power tool. Or, you will likely over tighten and strip the threads. I used the larger "platforms". There are two sizes included. I used strong double sided tape to affix the speakers to the stand platform. The first one I set on the stand and it was tightly gripped by the tape. Pretty well placed but could be better. The second one I set the speaker on the floor, upside down, and then adhered the stand to it. Very happy with the placement. If I were to do it agin I would do both that way. Lastly, I managed to throw the wire covers away and no amount of looking could find them. Trash day pickup was the next day. Gone! There was a lot of clutter to clear out and I guess I over did it. Crutchfield bailed me out on that one promptly. And courteously. Thanks for that!!
Pros: Nice stands went together easily and service was very good. They really fit my goals. Good directions, good service, fairly priced.
Cons: No negs of any kind.
I am satisfied with the value of this product. It wasn't a steal but it was exactly what I needed and the price was reasonable considering all options. The assembly was painless and quick, and there were several top plates to match various speaker configurations. This is a solid set of stands.
Pros: Easy to assemble; multiple top plates
I like these stands but, they work well but you'll need longer screws for the top plates to be firmly tight. Color shouldn't differentiate the price bc the black one is less. Other than that, they work fine.
Pros: Color matches my furnitures.
Cons: Top plate is too small and you may need longer screws to keep them tight.
These stands will fit most decor, especially the cherry wood. Using the wire guide supplied the speaker wire is virtually invisible. I'm using 12 awg wire and it works fine. The Polkaudio RTi-A3 bookshelf speaker on top of these stands are absolutely beautiful. A wonderful attraction to my living room.
Pros: Great looks, convienient, easy set up, wire guides
Cons: A little wobbly on carpet but that's only if you shake them
This product was easy to put together and took no time at all. The size of the base plate you put your speakers on looks alittle small. But i was amazed that it holds my polkaudio monitor 45b bookshelf and klipsch icon series ws-24 surround sound speakers with no problem. They stand right at ear level for me. I feel the rubber fight for the base and the rubber tabs for the speaker base are a great option. Not much a fan of the carpet spikes and the spike ends that hold the speaker in place. Glad that those peices are options. The black lacquer that they use matches my ash and espresso speakers well enough. If you are looking for a option besides drilling holes in your walls this is not a bad idea.
Pros: The height of the stand is good. Like how they have options for the different type of feet and speaker holders. The lacquer blends well with the darker color speakers. Pretty sturdy construction.
Cons: The only problem the hole for the top plate is to small for my 16 gauge speaker wire cable to through.
The stands were listed as an OPEN BOX but the contents were in original condition with all of the packaging still in the box. The box was taped shut but other than that there were no signs of damage, wear or tear. I am not using the wire guides in the back of the stands so I cannot comment on that feature.
Pros: Excellent black finish, multiple options for feet on the base and the top of the platform to suit function and taste.
Cons: A little wobbly at 30" but sturdy.
In order to get the maximum performance from your speakers, having them off the ground is key and the Sanus line of speaker stands provides this ability. With two ways to setup (e.g. carpet or hardwood floor) they not only look good but treat your home good, too. Spikes are suppose to be for carpets, but I have a low pile rug and found the rubber feet worked better for stability. Fairly easy to setup and a cost effective way to bring new life to your home entertainment system.
Pros: Integrates well into any home entertainment system, unobtrusive, multiple options for best stability regardless of floor surface. Also includes alternate base plate for non-square/rectangle speakers.
Cons: 1 star ding for not so easy to install cord hider on stem - fairly hard plastic that must bend into grooves. Requires 2 but I could only fit 1 and it works fine. Also, instructions were vague with regards to using rubber feet, spikes, etc. as they could have been.
Well packed and arrived in perfect condition. Very easy to assemble and they look great. I am using this with bookshelf speakers that weigh about 13 lbs each, and these are very stable even when my two dogs run by them.
Pros: ease of assembly appearance stabilty
Good quality, well finished, all appropriate hardware included
Pros: Crutchfield Service
The speaker stands are everything I thought they would be. The web purchase was easy and went well. The shipment can sooner than I thought and the assembly was very easy. Bought some new speakers to go on them and they look great. I will diffidently keep Crutchfield in mind for future purchases.
Pros: Easy to find and easy ordering.
I would rate the Sanus NF30s a 5-star. The product is heavy and well made. It comes with plenty of choices for floor stands and speaker standoffs. I put a fairly heavy pair of Pioneer speakers on my stands and used Monster Cables to connect them and it all went together fine and performs very well.
Pros: Heavy duty, very study, finish is great.
Cons: The only thing to watch out for is to put the cable hider panels in from the top before putting the top plate on. With heavy cables (like my Monster cables) you may have to feed the cables in from the bottom with only one of the two hider panels on (the bottom one) and then pull enough cable through that one to put the other panel on. You will have to adjust slightly before putting the tops on to make sure you have enough (or less) cable going from the back of the speakers into the cable run for
Needed a stand that my wife would "approve of" to be used in the family room. Of course I knew Crutchfield would have such a stand. I bought 2 pairs of the Sanus stands, they look good and they hide the cables, my wife was very happy with the look too. They cap off my Klipsch (5.25) speakers and are plenty sturdy enough to handle the weight of these speakers. The stands are very well made and very easy to assembly.
The Sanus NF30 speaker stands provided the best of all features for what I had in mind. The stands are simple in design; smooth lines and aesthetically pleasing curves provide for a a reliable base for mid-size speakers. The ability to change between rubber posts for wood or tile floors or the rounded metal carpet spikes for carpets was an added bonus, and the channel running up the back of the stand eliminates the awkward look of speaker wires. These stands were the perfect choice.
Pros: Solid craftsmanship combined with long lasting materials. The stand design will easily fits any style of home furnishings without looking dated or gaudy. Assembly is fairly intuitive and only requires a Phillips screwdriver. All these features coupled with the low cost makes this the right choice.
Cons: The assembly instructions may need some editing; although most of the assembly was intuitive, folding the plastic strips for the back channel was tricky; perhaps some installation hints would help.
I recently purchased the speaker pedestals as well as a Yamaha audio receiver. Very satisfied with the quality and service received from the Crutchfield team.
These stands are just what my Klipsch KB-15 needed! 30' is the perfect height for my listening position. The cherry color upright really complements my mostly black components, and, they are sturdy!
Pros: Solid construction, heavy base prevents accidental tip-overs.
Cons: Nothing i can think of.
Pros: Perfect for my speakers.
Cons: Only one thing "maybe" I would change. Make the upper plate slightly larger... but it still works for my 7-3/8" speakers.
I had a problem with the Sanus assembly guide. The guide on page 1 shows a solid cover for the wires. It comes with sets of covers.I mistaking and toke two of the coveres the same size and tried to insert them and broke a five inch piece of wood. It was then that I saw that there should be a set of two different sizes one larger then the other of covers for each stand. I used some Gorilla glue and in the end the stands looked good.
Really good item, beautiful strong, but comes broke the store sent me a broke box and affect the furniture so bad...
The speaker stands took about 15 minutes to assemble. The cherry finish were a neat match to my Polk speakers. The height of the stands is also a plus. The delivery/service thru Crutchfiled was flawless.
Great looking stand and fairly good finish. Only one issue with the top base not centered on one of the stands. The holes were drilled in the stand a little off so the top base fit is not lined up with the bottom base. All in all, a good looking stand that matched my cherry wood entertainment center.
These stands look very nice and function very well. I like the how it hides the speaker wire. Only problem I had was with quality control. One stand was perfect and went together easily. The second stand did not have the screw holes pre-drilled in the post for the base and top plates. This was an inconvenience. I just had to take apart the first one to make a template for where the holes needed to be drilled and did it myself. Also, the carpet spikes went in real tough on the same stand. I had to use a pair of pliers to work them in. I believe it was just some sloppy workmanship on their part. Had it not been for these little issues I'd have given it a 5 star rating.
These stands are only 28" on carpet (spikes stick into carpet so don't add to height), but 28 1/2" on a hard floor with included feet. I don't know what Sanus is thinking in calling these 30" stands. I only bought them because their listed height is closest to what I wanted. Mine were shipped in only the manufacturer box, which clearly isn't designed for shipping. I received a box that was so bashed up that UPS had taped over some of the torn open sides themselves! What a terrible initial impression. I was sure the stands were going to be mauled beyond recognition. Amazingly, the only damage wat that both bases had damaged back corners that I didn't want to deal with a return for. The cherry "poles" both had dings at one end, so I put that end up where it isn't visible. Otherwise no damage at all! Amazing. Assembly was easy using a cordless screwdriver (my assembly guide didn't say to soap any threads, but none needed), taking about 15 minutes. It was awkward getting the wire covers in place, after screwing the top and bottom on, and doing so chipped the finish at the edges of the slot it goes into. Also the wire covers ended up a bit kinked, instead of smoothly bowed. The finished stands are quite beautiful. I'm going to get some velcro to secure the speakers (mine ar 13 pounds) for extra safety.
I'm not an audiophile that has thousand-dollar speakers. But I have speakers that are large enough and heavy enough that cheaper stands wouldn't work. These fit the bill nicely. I don't know if they've listened to the reviews here, but I didn't have a single problem getting the screws in. I used a drill as my screwdriver though, so there was a lot of mass pushing the screws down. Do they make a difference in sound quality? Given that there are so many other factors that go into sound quality, I'd have to say that stands make no difference (provided that you can place your speakers without them). But they do the job of getting the speakers off the bookshelf and entertainment center, and they don't mess with the sound. The only con I can come up with is that the manual doesn't tell you what the different optional feet types do to affect the sound or for floor type placement. Other than that, they're great!
i like the stands, but during shipping the box was damaged, and it put marks on the stands. Like just nicks on the stand ,but you cant see them. I'm verry pleases how fast they got here..
Really hesitated about these based on the negative reviews they've received regarding difficulty with the installation/assembly. I finally stopped worrying and just ordered them, figuring I'd just return them if the negative reviews were right. Well, assembly took less than 10 minutes per stand and they're perfect. There were not fit or finish issues and everything went where it should, how it should. Perhaps this is an "updated" version????? I wish they were a bit taller, but overall, and I did need to widen the cable routing holes that were pre-drilled to accommodate my AudioQuest wire, but these are great value for the money and assembly couldn't have been more straight-forward or easier. Don't hesitate.
Pros: Beautiful appearance - look great next to Sanus TV stand, assembly took less than twenty minutes - I had no trouble with the screws using the recommended soap-on-threads trick, nicely designed cable channel with hole in base to take cable underneath - unlike some other reviewers, the cable cover popped into its grooves without a hitch for me. Cons: Not 30" with plastic feet installed - 29" at best but not a problem for me, relative light - probably not enough mass to satisfy the audiophile who requires the ultimate degree of dampening. Overall nice design that is functional and easy on the eyes.
The neoprene pads were missing from my box (I noticed that another reviewer also had the same experience) The stands seem well built, nice fit/finish and were fairly easy to put together. Screws go in tightly... so take the advice of the manufacturer and put some soap on the screws! No instructions for the plastic panels that need to be bent/inserted in the back of the stands to hide the speaker wire. At first I was perplexed as to what the black plastic sheets were for. I think overall they are very nice stands but a little pricey. It was a good purchase overall.
These speaker stands look good and Sanus customer service goes above and beyond the call of duty. That said, there are problems with these stands: 1) They are NOT 30". They are no more than 28-1/2" WITH all spikes installed. Disappointing, since I did all my measurements before ordering and I really needed 30" stands. 2) You CANNOT install the spikes with the feet together as the instructions say. 3) It is shipped without an outside box and so came all beat up in shipping. 4) One base was scratched. 5) The neoprene speaker pads were missing. 6) The screw holes are way too small for the screws, so the task is VERY difficult (even with soap on the screws like the manual says because they know about this). 7) Assembly does NOT take "minutes." 8) The "patent-pending concealed speaker wire path" on the back consists of a dual track for two plastic sheets (for each stand) that have to be bent into a "U" shape and inserted into the left and right tracks on the top and bottom of the stand. They are extremely difficult to insert and there is no mention in the instructions for them. As such, they don't tell you to insert them by sliding them in (still very difficult) BEFORE screwing on the top plate and base. So, I had to disassemble, slide the plastic sheets on, and then reassemble with those very difficult screws. All in all, it took more than 30 minutes to finish both. I also think they are over-priced for what they are.
Nice looking functional stands for smaller speakers. I put some hook and loop fastener strips on them to hold the speakers in place and they work fine. Be careful when assembling, though. I started a screw off of the pilot hole without realizing it and split one of the columns. Will have to order a replacement part. They do warn about this in the assembly instructions, but I read it too late. My fault.
Design: Each base is made of anti-resonant MDF finished with three coats of hand-sanded black lacquer. Adjustable floor spikes are included to provide stable footing on carpeted floors, and to further minimize resonance. A single sturdy black pillar supports the low-profile top plate, which features a choice of neoprene isolation pads or brass isolation studs. Plastic wire covers give your speaker stands a neater look by concealing the wires completely.
Spiked Feet: The spiked feet pierce the carpeting and anchor the stand to the floor, keeping the speaker stable and reducing resonance. With the spiked feet installed, the stand height is adjustable from 29" to 29.25". Note: If you do not wish to use the spiked feet, Sanus has included plastic isolation feet that will not scratch your floor.
Brass Studs: These upward facing brass studs hold the speaker stable and minimize resonance. They add approximately 0.20" to the overall height of the stand.
Neoprene Pads: The sharp points on the brass studs can scratch the bottom of the speaker. If this is of concern, you can use the supplied neoprene pads to stabilize the speaker.
Weight Capacity: Each speaker stand can support up to 25 lbs.
Top Plate Dimension: The top plate that the speaker sits on is 6" wide and 6" deep.

I would not recommend these Johnny. The base is made from cheap pressboard and fell apart when I attempted to attach the posts to the base. I had to return them. Sorry! [ Stephen Jan 04, 2018 ]
I have the RB 51 Reference speakers and the stands work perfectly. The speakers I have are a lot heavier than what might have been considered a typical bookshelf speaker in 1970 and sit on top of a small pedestal. The stands are very sturdy. My 51's are close to a foot high, deep and half that wide. I'm not familiar with the 160's. [ Scott Jan 04, 2018 ]
