Easy expansion

Got two or more components you want to mount under your TV? Not a problem. You can fit multiple VMA401s together to create an integrated shelving system. And you can even make small vertical adjustments after the shelf is installed, to get your components situated at just the right height.

Well constructed, easy to install. I had to flip the unit so the turntable dustcover would open. If you do that, plan on adding some spacers in order to get front/back leveled. Probably doesn't have the same issue if orient as pictured.

Impressive build quality

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 3/9/2012 12:34:00 PM

The first thing I noticed when I took the VMA401 out of the box was how hefty the tinted glass shelf was. That's a good thing — I expect it to be a rock-solid support for my gear. The second thing I noticed was that the back bracket was powder-coated steel. Very nice.

The third thing I noticed was the front panel on the bracket was flexible plastic. It's molded to the exact shade of black as the bracket, so the bracket appears solid from a distance. This panel can be popped off, making running cables much easier. And when they're in place, the panel goes back on, covering them up.

The VMA401's a simple design, but one that clearly a lot of thought went into.

Why did you buy this?

Because you suggested the item! [ Cynthia Metts  Jun 15, 2017 ]
First time seeing this brand [ ROBERTO  May 24, 2017 ]
I've had a bunch of different brands for wall mount and this Sanus seems to be far superior to most [ Anna  Mar 25, 2017 ]
THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED [ I  Mar 23, 2017 ]
wall mounted tv? need a good way to hang a center channel [ Jonathan  Jan 30, 2017 ]
Flexibility. I have to rearrange my audio system and since I have a floating AV cabinet, I thought it best to position these two shelves right below it at the center for my amplifier to conveniently sit in the best possible position and have sufficient free-air ventilation. I hope to be able to hide most of the wiring too. [ Michael  Jan 01, 2017 ]
Sanus is a reputable brand. This wall mounted shelf also had a more finished appearance and was on sale [ Angel  Dec 23, 2016 ]
Will work well with wall mounted tv. [ RUPERT  Dec 14, 2016 ]
needed a place for the dvd player and cable box [ joseph  Dec 04, 2016 ]
Sanus has great quality and with Crutchfield's excellent service, it was exactly what I wanted to place a cable box below a wall-mounted flat-screen TV. [ Bruce  Nov 21, 2016 ]
Our installer recommended this brand/type. [ Jamie  Oct 07, 2016 ]
Price [ J  Aug 22, 2016 ]
I needed a product like this to complete an install. The $10 price break was great, however, it was the reviews that sealed the deal. Two reviews were all I read and both said what I needed to hear - the shelf looks good in a pro install, holds a cable box, will reorder. [ Aaron  Jul 14, 2016 ]
Only three things: Quality and neatness of design and ratings [ Miguel  Dec 27, 2015 ]

Hi, no this is a shelf to put a dvd player or cable box on. Underneath the plastic cover is a metal bracket that you fasten to the beam. It sticks out about an inch for the metal, about inch and a half with the plastic. My sound bar had a separate mount to buy and hugs my wall. Hope this helps. [ Christopher  Nov 25, 2016 ]
My sound bar mounts to bottom of my tv this mounts to my wall just behind it [ Mark  Nov 25, 2016 ]
I believe it would be to small, I used mine for a Polk center channel speaker and only have 4 inches to spare in the front. [ ROBERT  Dec 07, 2014 ]
No, it will not fit. [ Michael  Dec 07, 2014 ]
the dimensions are 1" high by 1 1/4" wide and about an inch from the wall. Hope this helps. [ Jackie  Jan 31, 2014 ]
Thank you Bonnie! [ Melknee  Jan 30, 2014 ]
Thank you Thomas WS! [ Melknee  Jan 30, 2014 ]
THANKS SO MUCH GERALD JW! [ Melknee  Jan 29, 2014 ]
I recently mounted this device below a wall mounted TV in our exercise room. The platform was for our Xfinity cable box so routed through the channel were: (1) the power cord for the cable box, (2) the coaxial video connector to the cable box (not a very flexible cable), and (3) the HDMI connection from the cable box to the TV (a high quality cable that was also not very flexible. I had no trouble with the space for these cables and there would easily have been space for another three wire component video connection. It's a high quality, well made device - I would recommend it. [ GERALD J  Jan 28, 2014 ]
You should have no problem getting your cables to run behind the shelf. I know you only see the 1 inch square hole in the picture, but you can actually slide the plastic backing (with the 1 inch hole) up to feed the cables in. I actually had my HTPC (mac mini), audio receiver, and Blu-Ray player on two of these shelves stacked one on the other. I had at least 3 power cables, 5 (14-gauge) audio cables, 3 HDMI, 2 USB cables, and 1 subwoofer coax cable running behind the plastic backing piece. I think there is about 4-6 inches of space (side-to-side) for all your cables to be hidden. Hope this helps. Good luck!! [ THOMAS W  Jan 25, 2014 ]
I have 2 Hdmi cables and 2 power cable with room for more. Width(left to right) - Top opening ~1.5 inches. (Back to front width of top opening is ~ 3/8 to 1/2 inch) Bottom opening 1 inch. In the other shelf unit I have a coax cable and a thick power strip cable. The 2 shelves stack nicely. [ JAN  Jan 25, 2014 ]
I just installed this for my blue ray and was surprised at not only the ease of installation but also its high end construction. The wall bracket that holds the cables is plenty big enough for two components. Check the weight load specs but it should be fine. [ ROBERT  Jan 25, 2014 ]
Currently we have a cable box with the power cord, the cable itself, the cable to the TV, and there is more than enough room for all that. The opening is about 2" x 3". Hope this helps. BTW we also used a coiled cable manager to tidy everything up. [ BONNIE C  Jan 25, 2014 ]
