Our take on the Sanus VMT15

The ultra-thin Sanus VMT15 holds your flat-panel LCD or plasma TV just 3/4" from the wall. It's the ideal wall-mount for many of the latest ultra-thin TVs. This durable heavy-gauge design is strong enough to keep your TV firmly in place, and can support a TV with a screen size up to 50" and weighing up to 100 lbs. Plus the adjustable Virtual Axis lets you tilt your TV up to 10° forward for better viewing.

The mount's brackets can easily be shifted to the right or left, in case the wall studs are a little off-center. You can also make small adjustments after the mount is affixed to the wall, to level it, or even change the height. And the handy ClickStand at the bottom of each vertical brace swings out to prop your mounted TV away from the wall, to make cable hookup simple — without removing the TV from the mount.

Solid but ...

Tom from Casco, WI on 2/12/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good solid mount, but fimsy plastic hooks (hook release attached by string) on back that break easily. I am my second and last VMT15 mounting set because the whole arm needs replacing for a little plastic piece. Ability to adjust TV is good for the price.

Pros: Solid set up with enough mobility screen adjustments.

Cons: Flimsy plastic release clip on back, breaks too easily and not replaceable.

No Junk Here

A well designed mount with excellent adjustability, I'm completely satisfied

Pros: Nice, thin mount

Cons: None

Good product, awful instructions

Richard W. from Williamsburg, VA on 6/23/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Clever and functional design -- TV is mounted securely. This mounts so close to wall that any connections that stick out of back of TV will require the supplied spacers. I personally did not like the word-sparse instructions presented in many languages. The online tool for specifying the mounting bar height did not work for my LG TV, but it was easy to determine the correct height.

Pros: Very thin, functional, and secure on the wall.

Cons: Poor instructions -- hard to follow since mixed in with many other languages.

Great Wall Mount

Exactly what I was looking for. Love how slim this mount is and how easy it was to install.

Pros: Slim, tilts

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice TV mount and seems to hold my Sony Bravia 43" TV nice and securely. It included plenty of extra hardware which allows you to mount it to may different styles of flat-panel TVs. One note, be aware that this is a VERY THIN mounting system which will hold your TV only about 1-2 inches from the wall. I ran into some problems with the TV plug which goes into an outlet directly behind the mount, since the plug was big and long. I've had to invest in an expensive super-thin surge suppressor to allow me to use the outlet behind the TV and still plug-in the surge suppressor and the TV's plug (which now fit's sideways into the surge suppressor. I even changed the position of the Sanus mounting bars on my TV using the included Sanus "stand-offs" designed for other TVs so as to give myself enough room behind the TV. If you are going to run cables (like the HDMI and power cords) down from the TV and plug them in elsewhere, then this may not be an issue for you.

Pros: Wide range of hardware to mount almost any flat-panel TV to the wall. Heavy gauge steel hardware should hold up any TV within the rating limits. Easy to mount and very easy to dismount the TV from the wall as needed.

Cons: Almost too-thin for my purposes. - TV was so close to the wall that it was difficult to plug the power cord into the socket behind the TV (see note in my review).

As easy as they come

MrRichRod from Virginia on 9/8/2015

Instructions were straight forward and easy to read and understand. Mounting plate, hardware and parts are made of quality, sturdy materials. The TV mount will sit right on the wall bracket allowing for easy hanging. As mentioned in previous comments, this is a flush mount so a recessed outlet and pass through will make for the cleanest look. I hung a 42" LG (Vesa 400x400mm) with no issues whatsoever. If you're going to to do a single-stud installation it will require additional hanging brackets per the manual. I did not purchase those however as I installed 2 of the bolts that came with mount in center vertical holes of wall plate straight into the stud, and then used two 1/4 toggle bolts on top holes left and right of center. This thing is solid and is not moving.

Pros: This mount is very sturdy, easy to install from scratch, you can quickly remove TV from bracket, and it tilts a clean 10' down.

Cons: While you get what you pay for, even on sale this mount is pricey. In relativity so is the unit it holds so it.

Simple and Sturdy

ookook from California on 2/25/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Simple to install --takes about 30 minutes. Use the Sanus height finder to plug in your TV model to get exact drill measurements. Note that the mount places the tv very close to the wall so 90 or 270 hdmi cable plugs may be necessary + outlet boxes must be recessed for the cleanest look.

Pros: sturdy, tons of screws/bolts and spacers, mount plate appears very strong

Great wall mount

Tru from Los Angeles, CA on 10/28/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great wall mount, exactly what I was looking for. Slim enough to keep my Sony 46nx810 close to the wall, but because it was going to be a little higher I wanted something that would have a slight tilt to it and this wall mount did just that. Made my tv look bigger against my bedroom wall, thanks again to Crutchfield for the help.

Pros: Slim, easy to install. I also love how you can slide the tv left and right to center it and also adjust the left up/dwn and right up/dwn independently incase you need to.

Cons: In my case the pegs that pop out to hold the bottom of the tv out so you can access the a/v connections on the back of your tv dont give me enough room to plug anything into my tv, I had to unmount it wire everything up and put it back.

Great Deal

crnextex from Lexington, SC on 9/22/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great price for the application. Lots of other choices, but this mount works as well as any of the high priced mounts. Easy install.

Pros: easy install, works as well as more expensive mounts

Cons: none

Product Research

Overview: The Sanus VisionMount VMT15 Super Slim tilting-mount places 32"-50" TVs just 0.75" from the wall, yet still allows up to 10° of tilting capability. The VMT15 features the revolutionary Adjustable Virtual Axis technology, which allows tilt tension to be adjusted to compensate for a variety of TV depths. Unlike other ultra-thin mounts on the market, the VMT15 also offers additional exclusive features that make it incredibly easy to install and use. ProSet post-installation height and leveling adjustments allow the TV to be perfectly positioned after hanging. ClickStand technology holds the TV away from the wall for easy cable access without having to remove the TV from the mount.

Compatibility: The VMT15 universal wall-mount bracket is designed to fit flat-panel plasma and LCD monitors from 32" to 50". The TV can have a maximum weight of 100 pounds. Wall plate mounting holes are designed to accommodate 16" or 24" on-center studs.

Construction: The bracket is constructed of heavy-gauge steel and high-impact plastic with a durable powder-coated black finish.

Super Slim Design: This super slim tilting mount sits just .75" from wall to complement the sleek look of ultra-thin flat-panel TVs.

Mounting: The wall plate must be mounted to wall studs or anchored to a brick, block, or concrete wall using the supplied lag bolts. The slots in the wall plate can accommodate a variety of stud spacing, allowing you to easily mount the TV to wall studs that are 16" or 24" on center. Once the wall plate is anchored to the wall studs and the monitor brackets (with the TV attached) are hooked onto the wall plate, the TV can slide left or right, allowing you to center the TV on the wall. After the TV is secured, it will be held approximately 0.75" from the wall.

Note: Each monitor bracket has multiple bolt holes and can accommodate vertical hole spacing (on the back of the TV) up to 16.125" (410mm). Since the monitor brackets can slide on the wall plate, the horizontal hole spacing on the back of the TV can range from 3.9375" (100mm) to 22.4375" (570mm).

Steel Stud Mounting: If you wish to mount this Sanus wall mount in a building with steel stud walls, you will need the Sanus SSMK1 Steel Stud Mounting Kit (051SSMK1). Steel stud walls are typically found in commercial applications, such as office buildings, warehouses, and condominiums.

ProSet Post-Installation: The ProSet feature allows you to also make height (+/-5")and level (+/-2.5°) adjustments.

Mounting Hardware: The VMT15 comes with M4, M5, M6, and M8 bolts to mount the monitor brackets to your TV.

VESA: Given the mounting bracket's range of motion, it will accommodate the VESA 100, 200, 400, 200 x 100, 300 x 200, 400 x 200, 400 x 300 mounting hole patterns in accordance with industry standards set by the Video Electronics Standards Association.

Virtual Axis Technology: Once the TV is secured to the wall, you can adjust the TV's angle. With the Virtual Axis fingertip tilt system, the TV can tilt 10° down, and you can lock the position by simply tightening a knob on each monitor bracket.

ClickStand: The VMT15's ClickStand feature allows you to tilt the bottom of the TV outward and hold it there, giving you easy access to the back panel for connecting cables. Once all the cables have been plugged in, you can release the ClickStand and securely lock the TV into position on the wall plate.

Quick Release Tabs: Convenient quick-release tabs stay hidden behind your mounted TV, and easily pull down to unlock it from wall plate for cable access.

Installation Tools: The following tools are recommended for mounting the VMT15:

  • Stud finder
  • Awl
  • Level
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Electric drill
  • Drill bits: 3/8" (wood studs) and 7/32" (masonry)
  • Wrench or ratchet and socket: 1/2"

Wall Plate: W = 22.25", H = 2.0", D = 0.5"

Monitor Brackets: W = 3.5", H = 17.25", D = 0.6875"
