Product Research

Features

Swiveling TV Base: The Sanus VSTV1 is a table-top, swiveling TV base that works on almost any surface, and provides improvements over the stands that are traditionally included with flat-panel TVs. By providing swivel and adjustable height, the VSTV1 improves the viewing range by allowing you to point the TV to where you are seated. Its stable footprint is optimal for TV stability on furniture with a shallow depth.

TV Compatibility: The Sanus VSTV1 is compatible with 32" to 60" flat-panel TVs that weigh up to 60 lbs. Your TV must have a bolt-pattern of 100mm-600mm (h) x 100mm-400mm (v). The VSTV1 comes with 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm mounting hardware.

  • Mounting Plate: The mounting plate measures 26.5" (w) x 7.125" (d); and has a horizontal spacing of 100mm-600mm.
  • Vertical Brackets: The two vertical brackets measure 1" (w) x 17" (h); and have a vertical spacing of 100mm-400mm.
Note: Additional hardware may be required for your specific model of TV. For example; shorter or longer screws, thicker or slimmer washers or spacers. These additional accessories can often be found at your local hardware store.

Swivel & Adjustable Height: The Sanus VSTV1 allows your TV to swivel left or right 74°. The height of your TV can be raised or lowered 4.5" (in 1.5" increments).

Stable Base: The stable base has a footprint of 18.0625" x 12.0625"

Q
can this safely hold the new Sony XR A95L 65" ?
johnny  Aug 03, 2023
1 answer
A
This Sanus VSTV1 swivel TV base is rated for TV's up to 60", Johnny. Since the Sony Bravia XR A95L is larger at 65" this will not work. The AVF Hoxton Tripod stand in the link below (floor-mounted) will support TV's up to 65" and 88 lbs, we have no tabletop options that can mount a TV of that size. Depending on your exact furniture setup, you may be able to consider the ErgoAV ERTSX1-01B in the second link, it is more of a feet replacement that will locate them more centrally on the TV and provides no swivel capability. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_699FHOXBBA/AVF-Hoxton-Tripod-Black.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_389ERTSX1B/ErgoAV-ERTSX1-01B.html

Will my Sony 48" fit on the SANUS stand?

I can't imagine why it wouldn't. I installed a 50" TCL with ease.

It's hard to say without the model number and a little more information. I used one on my 2020 model Sony XBR-49X80H and it fit better than any others that I tried with some of my other TVs. I used the supplied thick spacers to have the cross piece stand out away from the TV back so connections could be reached without a problem. If yours has the standard mounting holes, it will probably be okay, but I can't say positively.

We are using it for a Sony XBR-49X950H 49" BRAVIA 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV and it works fine. I cannot comment on your specific model.

Yes. I have a 55" Sony and I believe this stand can hold 32" to 65". I would recommend this. Footprint is small and sturdy.

Will my Sony 48" fit on the SANUS stand?

A
I have a Sony 55" mounted on the stand and I'm sure that the mounting holes on the back of a Sony 48" would also work. The Sanus stand supports VESA 100 x 100 to 600 x 400 which covers all Sony flat screen tvs.
glen  Jun 07, 2021
A
It will fit any wall mountable flat screen tv up to 60 inches. My Samsung 43 inch tv mounted easily, I did have to buy new screws due to the back of the tv being curved. I have had it about 18 months and it is very stable.
joseph  Jun 06, 2021
A
Yes, it should fit as long as your TV has wall mount holes on the back The VESA mounts are typically 200x200 or 400x400 mm

Q
I just bought a new LG 55" TV, what is the deal with the two flimsy base supports?? This has me uneasy and I'm afraid the TV tips over. I have a small child and this worries me. What base do you recommend? What is the base made of? Please help.

A
We have the same base for a Sony 55" 900F. It's sturdy and well worth the money in our opinion especially compared to legs that came with the Sony and our narrow entertainment center. I believe it does come with a bracket that can screw in the wall to be sure it's not tipped but the child would have to seriously pull on the tv to get it to tip over. Hope that helps.

I did not like the "two flimsy base supports" either. I bought the Sanus VSTV1 in 2018 for my new Samsung 55" TV after doing a lot of research. For me, this TV stand has worked well. It is sturdy and stable. The "base" and the "bracket" are made of metal. My 55" TV sits (with the Sanus VSTV1 stand) on a table in the corner of my living room. There, my TV is not in danger of someone walking past and tipping it over. I do not have children or a big dog that might knock my TV over. If I remember correctly, there is a larger, heavier, and more expensive Sanus TV stand very similar to the Sanus VSTV1 stand, which a buyer might consider. I did not buy the bigger one because the "base" of the bigger one was too large for my TV table. I suggest that you google "Sanus VSTV1 Stand" or "Sanus TV Base Mount" and read the reviews of the Sanus VSTV1 TV stand. Again, I'm very happy with my Sanus VSTV1 Mount.

The entire stand is metal. I have an older 50in plasma and the unit is very stable. You can always add a strap to secure the TV to a wall
william  Jun 10, 2020
Q
My question centers on the physical security of the mount. For example a table top mount. In general these mounts come with horizontal bars screwed into back of tv in their vesa holes. And one vertical bar connected to the 2 horizontal bars. The rub is that there are generally very tiny machine screws attaching the vertical bar to the horizontal bars. "Tiny" really bothers me because these tiny screws are holding the whole weight of the TV. Much help would be appreciated. ???

The materials used are top quality and strong enough to support our 43" flat screen. I have no concerns about the screen separating from the stand under normal usage conditions.
elroy  Jul 26, 2019

Yes it is completely safe. I have a 55" tv on it and had no problems what soever.

I have this mount installed on two televisions and they are very secure
claudine  Jul 26, 2019

I returned the Sanus base because the professional installers I hired were concerned about its stability with my Samsung TV. They used the "feet" that came with the TV and added weight to my table top.
i  Jul 26, 2019

I wouldn't worry. I have a 55" mounted to it and I am constantly using the swivel, I have a dog that likes to jump at my tv stand when it sees animals on tv, so she is always shaking the entire unit. The TV stand remains solid and very stable. Nothing has loosened up on it, I've had stand for over a year.
matthew  Jul 26, 2019

Hi John, I have a 55" TV and sound bar attached to the stand. It is very solid and secure. I'm very happy with it.

Q
How much space can this create below my 58" Samsung LCD? I am hoping to fit a 6" center channel underneath.
peter  May 19, 2019

A
To anyone else wondering - I bought and installed the hardware, but soon realized the stand would acutally make the screen a little LOWER than the feet that come with it. So no good there, unfortunately. You cannot get 6" of space under a 58" screen!!!!
peter  May 30, 2019
A
I mounted my 46 inch Samsung HD television which is an 11 year old, heavy TV on this Sanus TV base. There is only 2-3 inches of space between the bottom of the television set and the large cabinet that it sits on. You might ask the experts at Crutchfield if they have a larger TV base for a 58" television set. Since you probably are unable to fit a 6" center channel speaker under the set, perhaps you could place the center channel on the floor directly in front of the TV.
stephen c  May 29, 2019
A
I used the Sanus website, there are complete adjustment illustrations, as well as a tool where you can search your make and model of TV to check for fitment. A 58" plus a 6" sound bar I'm not sure about though, I have a 55" and I know I could hang a standard sound bar under it, but a 6" tall soundbar may be a stretch...
matthew  May 29, 2019
A
We extended the stand as much as possible to hold a 50" Samsung. There is exactly 4.5 inches from the bottom of the TV to the top surface of the stand base. Hope this helps. The stand is very sturdy.
karen  May 29, 2019
A
The stand is adjustable for height of the screen, and i think you should be able to manage a six inch clearance. I have a 43' screen mounted at the lowest setting, which leaves a 5 1/2' inch gap between the bottom edge of the screen and the top of the base plate.

Q
I need to mount a 32" TV on a countertop in my boat. What is the base made of, and can it be drilled for hard mounting?

The base is made of metal. The stand is very robust, and the mechanism swivels..
patrick  Oct 19, 2018

Hello Mike, I purchased, from Crutchfield, the Sanus VSTV1 stand that currently holds very comfortably my 46 inch HD television set that weighs 58.5 pounds and is 10 years old. Since we have small grandchildren, we also have this set anchored with an anti-tip strap that Crutchfield included free of charge. The base of this stand, which is .75 inches deep, appears to be made of a heavy metal which makes it very sturdy. In my non-technical opinion, I would not try to drill any holes in it for mounting. If I were you, I would discuss this issue with the experts at Crutchfield to obtain their opinions before purchasing any mounting stand. They have many different types of stands available for purchase. Sanus also has a toll free telephone number to answer any questions you might have. Since I have little or no mechanical skills, I hired a professional audio-visual firm to assemble and install this TV stand along with many other home theater items that I also purchased from Crutchfield.
stephen c  Oct 18, 2018
A
Yes. Steel base. I drilled and bolted mine.
jonathan  Oct 17, 2018
A
The base is plastic and it is about one inch thick. I am not sure if it could be drilled into without cracking but it may be possible with the proper tools. It is pretty weighty so it could possibly work depending on the size of your boat and how rough it gets but it would probably be best to have it secured.
claudine  Oct 17, 2018
A
Everything is metal, so i would assume yes.
william  Oct 17, 2018
Q
How high can it raise the bottom edge of the TV from the resting surface, for a 42" diagonal TV?
peter  Apr 23, 2018

A
At least 4".
david  Jun 07, 2021
A
Much depends on the specific model TV, the positioning of it's mounting screw holes, and the size of it's outer chassis bezel. Q
Will this stand help to raise the TV a little bit to make clearance for a center channel speaker?
brian  Mar 22, 2018

Hi Brian. This mount does have vertical adjustments so it would allow the TV to be lifted slightly to allow for sound bar clearance.
