This TV already has a built-in tuner, so you'll only need to connect an antenna to enjoy free local over-the-air broadcasts, including your favorite primetime shows in high-definition. With two HDMI inputs, you can easily connect a high-def cable or satellite box and a high-def video game console. And the 24SLV411U's gaming mode reduces controller delay, making it a great choice for gaming, too.

The PC input lets you connect this TV to your home computer and turn it into a widescreen computer monitor. You can even set up an impromptu photo slideshow using the side USB input. This TV can be wall-mounted or placed on a counter with the included stand.

Toshiba24SLV411U - Nice TV for the bedroom

The Mater from The Thriving Metropolis of Circleville, Ohio on 3/10/2012

We had an older 19 "tube" TV & decided to upgrade to something newer & a bit larger. We went to a few stores to see this TV in action & am glad we did. Originally I came to Crutchfield search for a TV/DVD combo, found this one, read all the info/features about it & thought this might be the one for us. I did a few other searches on other sites as well & made sure to read the reviews for this TV. I was skeptical about purchasing this one based on some of the picture & sound reviews so that is what took us to the stores to see/hear for ourselves. After doing so, I decided to order this from Crutchfield but, unfortunately, by the time I'd done my research & gone to see/hear it in the stores, Crutchfield had already discontinued this model...bummer. We jumped into the car one night & decided to go get one. Fortunately, the store we went to was also discontinuing this model & had it on clearance...woohoo! Good timing for us I must say! We actually saved $60 more at the store than I would have getting it here from Crutchfield which was a nice surprise. The picture is GREAT, the DVD works flawlessly, it also plays music CD's w/ease & I must say, the sound is very nice. You may have to adjust it to your liking as there are several settings as well as a "custom" setting. I just don't see/hear all the negatives that some of the others spoke of. This is a GREAT TV/DVD combo & it has been very much enjoyed & listened to (music) w/NO regrets on my purchase. I give this one a 10-out-of-10!

Pros: The versatility on this one is awesome! The TV performs flawlessly via the DirecTV receiver & the picture is top-notch. The DVD player is a nice bonus & it has performed w/no issues whether it be an original DVD or a recorded/burned one. The same applies to the music CD's as well. Hooking it up to the laptop couldn't be simpler! I didn't even have to program my SONY DirecTV remote to turn on/off the TV or turn up/down the volume! It looks Toshiba did their homework on this one...nicely done!

Cons: After 3 weeks of use, I've yet to find an issue or complaint about this unit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Quick delivery (standard/free) from Crutchfield. PROS: Great color and sharp picture from all angles, no issues with the DVD, works fine. Plenty of connections although at this time all I have connected is the ROKU via HDMI. CONS: The sound is a bit tinny, but perhaps that is just a matter of getting used to it compared to our old analog TV the Toshiba replaced. Only other issue is the remote seems to have a nearly direct view of the TV. The remote of the TV this one replaced could be pointed almost anywhere in the room and the TV would pick up the signal presumably bouncing off windows. The Toshiba remote seems to more restrictive.

Really surprised at the poor video quality. Thought it would really be sharp but I have a 32" that is much sharper even up close.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Absolutely a great small room TV. Picture is sharp, with excellent color, without tweaking. Sound is adequate and superior to other small TV's we've had. Ours is in a well lit kitchen and no problem with glare or faded picture if viewed from any angle. The only con so far (if you are a novice) is that the Instruction manual could use improvement. Anything beyond basic hookup leaves something to be desired. The CD player also works quite well. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful picture. Good audio. Easy to setup. Had everything working in about ten minutes. Very satisfied.

Needs improved sound quality.

DaveD from Rochester, IL on 5/2/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We are very pleased with the picture quality of the new Toshiba 24" TV. However, the sound of the unit is extremely poor, having almost a "tinny" quality. Since we placed it in a guest room and it is not used for our family for daily use, we decided to tolerate the poor sound quality and keep it. On the other hand, service from Crutchfield could not have been better. They are without doubt, the ultimate company to deal with and for follow-up technical assistance. We have always found Crutchfield personnel to be courteous and well-informed.

LED Edge-Backlighting: The Toshiba SLV411U LED-LCD TV utilizes LED edge-backlighting for a clear, crisper image with better contrast and color.

DynaLight: This function automatically adjusts the backlight intensity based on the image content. It constantly monitors the brightness level of each video frame, even in low light settings. As a result, you see increased detail and greater depth of images.

HDTV Tuner: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.

1080p Resolution: The Toshiba SLV411U LED-LCD TV has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080. The HDMI and component inputs will accept 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals; and all inputs are displayed at 1080p. The HDMI input will also accept 1080p.

HD Video Inputs: The Toshiba SLV411U TV provides high definition HDMI & component video inputs.

  • Dual HDMI (ver.1.3): The television features 2 rear-panel HDMI (ver.1.3) inputs. The HDMI inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i, video signals.  If you want to connect a DVI-compatible device, you will need an HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable. Since DVI does not carry audio signals, a stereo audio 3.5mm input is provided for the HDMI 1 input (shared with PC input). In addition to the HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable, you will also need a stereo audio 3.5mm cable.
  • Component Video Input: The rear-panel ColorStream HD Component video input will accept 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals.

Note: There is also a rear-panel composite video input (480i only).

Picture Size: When viewing a source, you can choose one of the following picture sizes:

  • Normal: Image is displayed close to its originally formatted proportion, with black bars along the sides or top and bottom if the signal has an aspect ratio different than the TV.
  • TheaterWide 1: The picture is non-uniformly enlarged; the center of the picture remains close to its true. proportion, but the left and right edges are stretched wider to fill the screen, used primarily with a 4:3 source.
  • TheaterWide 2: Entire picture is uniformly enlarged, used primarily with a widescreen source.
  • TheaterWide 3: Picture is non-uniformly enlarged; the picture is stretched wider to fill the width of the screen and stretched slightly taller.
  • Full: Mainly designed for receiving a squeezed 4:3 signal (a 16:9 [480i, 480p] programs squeezed into a 4:3 transmission), the picture is stretched wider to fill the screen, but not taller, none of the picture is hidden.
  • 4:3: Provides a 4:3 aspect ratio of a 720p, 1080i or 1080p signal; sidebars fill the empty vertical spaces while not distorting the picture from its original size.
  • Native: When receiving a 720p, 1080i or 1080p signal program, Native Mode restores the size of the picture by the 3-5% that is generally lost during the normal over-scanning that occurs on traditional sets. It also avoids unnecessary scaling of HD signals that can reduce overall image resolution and picture quality.
  • Dot-by-Dot: Non-scaling display for VGA, SVGA, XGA, WXGA and SXGA sources only.

Auto Aspect Ratio: The Auto Aspect Ratio feature will automatically select the picture size when one of the following inputs sources is received - a 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i signal from the ANT/Cable input; a 480i signal from the Component Video input, and a 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, or VGA (60 Hz) signal from any of the HDMI inputs. A 4:3 signal is set to Normal, a 16:9 signal is set to Full, a 4:3 letterbox signal is set to TheaterWide 2. If the signal's aspect is not defined, the Picture Size defaults to the last manually chosen setting.

Picture Modes: You can select one of the following picture modes for each input:

  • Sports: Bright and dynamic picture.
  • Standard: Standard picture setting.
  • Movie: Lower contrast for a darkened rooms.
  • Game: Designed for playing a video game requiring split-second timing between the on-screen display and input from the controller (more effective for 480i & 1080i input video signals).
