It won't connect via HDMI but what is great about this is that it is very easy to make this Region 0 so you can watch any DVD from anywhere in the world.

Disc Compatibility: The Toshiba SD4300 DVD player supports the playback of the following disc types.

Disc Type Disc Description

JPEG Photo Viewer: The DVD player supports playback of JPEG images recorded onto CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW discs. The unit supports JPEG images with a maximum resolution of 5760 x 3840 and maximum file size of 4 Mbytes. The player can recognize 500 files and 200 folders. You can continuously playback all JPEG images automatically; you can set the JPEG interval to 5, 10, or 15 seconds.

MP3 Playback: This DVD player will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW discs. Your MP3 files must be formatted in ISO 9660 level 1 or level 2. Supported sampling frequencies include 32, 44.1, 48 kHz. Supported bit-rates include 64-320 kbps. The player can recognize 500 files and 200 folders.

Video Features

14-Bit Video Digital to Analog Converter: The Toshiba SD4300 DVD player employs a 14-bit video digital-to-analog converter to reduce digital artifacts to give you a better picture.

Progressive Scan 3:2 Pull-Down: Progressive-scan video has less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than the traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a superior picture. To take advantage of this feature, you must have a television with component video inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode. The component outputs on this unit can be set to pass either progressive or interlaced video.

Video Outputs: The Toshiba SD4300 DVD player features one component video output and one composite video output.

  • Component Video Output: The SD-4300 features ColorStream Pro component video outputs which allow the video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video-equipped interlaced (480i) or progressive scan (480p) TV.
  • Composite Video Output: In addition there is a composite video output (480i only).

TV Shape: You can choose from a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio for the video output of this DVD player.

View Modes: You may choose from one of the following options to view your DVD movie on your Television.

  • Fill: Fills the screen with the decoded image.
  • Original: Displays the image as its original size.
  • Height Fit: Fits the screen height with the image height.
  • Width Fit: Fits the screen width with the image width.
  • Auto Fit: Automatically fits the decoded image on screen without distortion.
  • Pan Scan: Automatically displays the decoded image on full screen without distortion.

Smart Picture: The DVD player provides four predefined sets of picture color settings.

  • Standard: Preset standard picture setting.
  • Vivid: Makes the picture brighter.
  • Cool: Makes the picture softer.
  • Personal: Select this mode to personalize your picture color by adjusting the brightness, contrast, tint, and color saturation.

Audio Features

Dolby Digital/DTS Compatible: The Toshiba SD4300 DVD supports playback of Dolby Digital and DTS encoded DVD discs and outputs the Dolby Digital/DTS signal to your connected home theater receiver (with built-in Dolby Digital/DTS decoder) via a digital coaxial output.

Audio Outputs: The Toshiba SD4300 DVD player features a coaxial digital audio output (coaxial) and one analog RCA stereo audio output.

  • Digital Audio Output: This unit features a coaxial digital output to allow you to connect the player to a receiver with a Dolby Digital or DTS decoder.
  • Analog Audio Output: The unit also has one set of analog composite audio outputs, if your application only calls for hooking the DVD audio up to your Television.

Virtual Surround: To obtain expansive virtual surround sound effects from two speakers, set the 3D Effects mode to "On".

Night Mode: Night Mode optimizes playback of sound at low volume. High volume outputs will be softened and low volume outputs are brought upward to an audible level.

Convenience Features

On-Screen Menu: The Toshiba SD4300 provides an On-Screen Display (OSD) through its composite or component video outputs. You can select English, French, or Spanish as the OSD text language.

Parental Control: You can select a parental control rating from 1-8, which is protected by a 4-digit password.

Tray Lock: You can lock the tray of the DVD player so it will not open without a special sequence of buttons.

ENERGY STAR Compliant: The Toshiba SD4300 DVD player is ENERGY STAR certified. Electric power consumption is significantly reduced during both use & standby.

Remote Control

IR Remote Control: The Toshiba SD4300 comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of this DVD player only.
