Nikon EN-EL18b Battery - Worth the Price
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I own a Nikon D500 for sports photography. It is the least energy efficient Nikon camera I have ever owned. With the EN-EL 18B, I am able to take about 3,000 pictures on a full charge (full day) while having the camera in airplane mode; about half of that if I actively use the WiFi services. This is far better than the 400-800 pictures I was able to get out of the EN-EL 15 v2 battery (about 3-4 active hours). As for Crutchfield, I need to give the company 5 stars. I originally ordered the EN-EL-18a which went to back order when Nikon made the decision earlier this year it had to address their battery quality issues. I received a phone call from Crutchfield customer service letting me know of the switch and there would be an extended wait. When the battery did finally become available, I was contacted again with the estimated ship time.
Pros: Battery provides the power necessary to take full advantage of the Nikon D500 advance features.
Cons: Excessive price. Does not include cost of the battery chamber (BL-5) or the ridiculously priced Nikon MH26aAK charging station.
