Boston Acoustics HSi 250
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I'm going to give these a qualified 4 stars - They sound decent (so far). They also look great, and manage to conform to the needs of fitting in the 3.5" rafter space above my drywall. I boxed in the spaces for them to make .6 cu ft sealed cavities. Like I say, I think they sound satisfactory so far. What I hear sounds a bit anemic and tinny, but that is off of a cheap multimedia receiver - I'm pretty confident when I put them on a quality amp they will fill out and have plenty of depth. I'm also confident that they will blend seamlessly with the other boston speakers I have. I can say, that even with the cheap multimedia receiver they did a nice job filling out some of the ranges that weren't coming out through the other speakers - might just be different impedances at different Hz, so they are playing that range a little louder, but like I say, I think they are going to do a nice job. They are going to be paired with two wall mounted CR55 or CR65 or CR75, and a 12" JL audio in a sealed box that's built into wall before they drywall went up. I'd be surprised if I had to lower this to three stars after the install is done, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they ended up being 5 stars when it all comes together.
Pros: sonically matches other boston speakers well, fit shallow depth for 2x4 rafters in my particular install.
Cons: Not full range cabinet speakers, but they aren't supposed to be
