Boston Acoustics NCB8
Our take on the Boston Acoustics NCB8 by Crutchfield's Marshall Chase
The NCB8 brackets make it easy to install Boston Acoustics VSi585 in-wall speakers in new-construction homes. These versatile brackets allow either vertical or horizontal placement of your speakers, and accommodate both flush and inset mounting options.
What's in the Box:
- 2 Rectangular black metal in-wall brackets (each with four attached 8.375" long metal wings)
- Instruction sheet
Compatibility: This bracket kit is designed for use with select Boston Acoustics in-wall speakers. The brackets are intended for new construction applications only; the brackets are neither needed nor helpful for installations in existing walls. The contents of this kit allow you to mount two speakers.
Installation: The flange of the brackets can either be installed facing into the wall or towards the room. With the flange pointed into the wall, the speakers will fit flush with the bracket. With the flange pointing out into the room, the wall boards need to be measured and cut prior to installation. The finished opening should align itself with the edge of the flange. Two of the metal wings are to be installed at 90 degrees (to the bracket); the other two wings should be used at angles to make the installation more secure. The metal wings have perforated mounting holes, used to mount between the wall studs using nails or drywall screws (not supplied). There are also two speaker wire tie-down tabs that bend inwards and secure your speaker wire with a cable tie.
Note: Make sure to have a minimum of 1-1/2" clearance on the two short sides of the cutout to accommodate the speakers' integral mounting brackets.
