Our take on the Boston Acoustics NCBTL8by Crutchfield's Tom Mathew
The NCBTL8 bracket makes it easy to install Boston Acoustics in-wall speakers in new-construction homes. These brackets allow either vertical or horizontal placement of your speaker, and accommodate both flush and inset mounting options.
What's in the Box:
- 1 Black metal in-wall bracket (w/ four attached 7.625" long metal wings)
- Instruction sheet
Compatibility: This bracket kit is designed for use with Boston Acoustics VRiSUB82 in-wall subwoofer. The bracket is intended for new construction applications only; the bracket IS neither needed nor helpful for installations in existing walls. The contents of this kit allow you to mount one subwoofer.
Installation: The flange of the bracket can either be installed facing the wall or in towards the room. With the flange pointed into the wall, the sub will fit flush with the bracket. With the flange pointing out into the room, the wall boards need to be measured and cut prior to installation. The finished opening should align itself with the edge of the flange. Two of the metal wings are to be installed at 90 degrees (to the bracket); the other two wings should be used at angles to make the installation more secure. The metal wings have perforated mounting holes, used to mount between the wall studs/beams using nails or drywall screws (not supplied). There are also two "Speaker wire tie-down tabs" that bend inwards and secure your speaker wire with a cable tie. Note: Make sure to have a minimum of 1-1/2" clearance on the two long sides of the cutout.
