Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I replaced a set of the Boston ISTS imaging tweeters with these for no other reason than just to have matching tweeters for my Boston Pro SE Component set. I thought the ISTS series tweeters sounded great, as evidenced by my review on them. I used these in the stock dash locations on a 2010 Dodge Ram Pick-up truck, and gave them 50 watts. Wow, there was definitely an improvement over the ISTS series, as those were little harsher. The ISTS sounded great in the system, but the NEO's take the cake. The crossover is huge, has a tweeter protection circuit (light bulb in the crossover for over power), and is adjustable in two ways....There is a jumper selection for SPL setting (3,000hz crossover point) and Imaging (8,000hz crossover point). There is also a second jumper on each crossover for attenuation (0db, -3db, -6db, -9db). Additionally, there is a set of outputs on the crossovers for daisy-chaining speakers. I am very pleased with these as they have brightened my front sound stage more so than the ISTS series. I would recommend the ISTS to anyone with an entry level to mid-level system. However, if you have a more complex or higher level, definitely get these!
Pros: Tweeter protection circuit, crossover options, clarity!
Cons: Enormous Crossover for a small tweeter!!!
