Our take on the Boston Acoustics RS 260 by Crutchfield's Kristen Schaub
The sleek, solidly built RS 260 from Boston Acoustics delivers rich sound in a convenient bookshelf speaker size. It takes advantage of recent advancements in Boston's speaker technology to bring your home entertainment to life whether you're using a pair for stereo music, or creating a complete surround sound system.
Smart tweeter technology for accurate high-frequency detail
Boston's new 1" Extended Wide Bandwidth tweeter lets this speaker really sing with silky, clear highs. Its unusual, dimpled design stabilizes the linear motion of the tweeter for significantly lower distortion, while improving dispersion, power handling, and clarity.
Multi-composite woofers deliver deep bass and clear mids
The RS 260 also delivers dynamic mids and bass thanks to a 6-1/2" woofer and an acoustically tuned port. This high-tech multi-composite woofer produces smooth, detailed midrange and high-output bass with minimal distortion. The smooth front baffle sports a shallow grille with magnetic attachments, a design that virtually eliminates diffraction, for a spacious soundstage and accurate imaging.
Build a complete Reflection Series speaker system by combining four to six bookshelf speakers and a powered subwoofer with a center channel speaker. Or use a pair of RS 260 speakers as your surround channels, and use Boston's floor-standing speakers for your two front channels.

Tightly Spaced Driver Placement: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 bookshelf loudspeaker utilizes tightly spaced driver placement, to allow the speaker to deliver near-point-source sonic coherence, wide dispersion, and accurate imaging.
Smart Tweeter Technology: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 bookshelf loudspeaker's 1.0" EWB (Extended Wide Bandwidth) tweeter features special central diaphragm termination (creating a dimple) and a rear-venting chamber to provide stabilized linear motion, lower distortion, improved dispersion, higher power handling, and increased clarity.
Multi-Composite Woofer Cone: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 bookshelf loudspeaker incorporates a 6.5" Fiber Ceramic Copolymer Material (FCCM) Woofer cone made from a composite of fiber and ceramic materials impregnated in a proprietary copolymer. By combining these multi-composite cones with Boston's Deep Channel Design (DCD), the woofer produces a smooth response over the entire operating range. Deep Channel Design (DCD) provides more bass from less amplifier power.
Bass Reflex Enclosure: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 bookshelf loudspeaker features a bass-reflex cabinet with a rear-firing port for added efficiency and bass response. The enclosure features an elegant, scratch resistant high-gloss black lacquer finish.
Super Linear Plane (SLP) Baffle: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 bookshelf speaker features a Super Linear Plane (SLP) Baffle which offers a smooth surface baffle with invisible hardware. The Super Linear Plane Baffle has the ability to nearly eliminate acoustic diffraction.
Magnetic Grille: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 uses a super-shallow grille with an invisible magnetic attachment to create an almost entirely seamless alignment with the baffle plane to significantly reduce sonic barriers. The magnetic super-shallow grille minimizes acoustical interference for an improved soundstage.
Binding Posts: The bookshelf loudspeaker has two sets of gold-plated binding posts connected by gold-plated jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding posts will accept bare-wire, pin-connectors, and single banana-connectors.
Mounting: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 can sit comfortably on a shelf, stand, or tabletop using the supplied rubber feet. In addition, the Boston Acoustic bookshelf loudspeaker features a rear-mounted 3/8"-16 threaded insert for wall-mounting the speaker using an optional wall-mount bracket (sold separately).
Video Shielded: The Boston Acoustic RS 260 offers MagnaGuard video shielding so you can safely place the speaker next to your television without distortion or interference.
