The picture is clear on that great new HDTV, but the sound — not so much. Boston's slender TVee Model 30 surpasses TV speaker performance with a clarity that will capably escort you through any on-screen adventure.

A cure for the "nest of connectors" syndrome
The Model 30 connects easily to your TV with a single, included digital or analog cable. If your TV has an optical digital output, use the sound bar's digital input to take advantage of its Dolby® Digital decoding — you'll enjoy more accurate movie dialogue from its dedicated center-channel drivers. The RCA stereo analog input lets you connect TVs without a digital output. And the Model 30's compact wireless subwoofer adds all those exciting rumbles to action flicks and dramas allowing easy placement vertically or horizontally anywhere in the room. The sound bar has keyhole slots for simple wall mounting, or just place it at the base of your TV. And the TVee Model 30 learns the volume and mute commands of your existing TV remote control, so there'll be one less clicker to go AWOL.

It's attuned to your tunes
The TVee Model 30 has a real affinity for music. There's a side minijack input for your portable player. And built-in Bluetooth® lets you stream music from your compatible smartphone or MP3 player so you can listen to your favorites with ease. Wired or wireless, the Model 30's dedicated music mode will serenade you beautifully.

Sound is amazing... Being able to connect your Android device via Bluetooth is a great feature.

    Pros: Very easy to setup

    Cons: Can't find any...

I've been using a BA Tvee2 for several years, but I was looking for cleaner bass and midrange. The TVee 30 delivers that and more. The 3.1 arrangement gives me a clearer center channel for understanding voices better and the 7 inch sub puts out very tight, controlled sound without the boomy effect of the older model. The extra inputs are very useful for plugging a mp3 player or other device on occaision. The bluetooth was just icing on the cake. It connected immediately to my ipad and allows me to stream my itunes library, Pandora, etc to the Soundbar for incredible sound quality. Thumbs up to BA for a great sound system

Pros: Clear highs and mid-range, crisp bass, plenty of power. Mulitple inputs for flexibility.

Cons: I can't say the the "surround" sound it impressive... it's barely noticeable. But the overall sound is incredible, and if I was really concerned with surround sound, I wouldn't have been looking for a soundbar.. I would have been looking for a system with speakers and wires that go all around the room.

    don't do it

Ha big problems. I have a BA sound bar i bought a year ago and have been happy with the sound so i bought another. Out of the box this new one did not work so I contacted BA. They had me return it and Crutfield sent another right away. Now i am sending the other one back because BA said this one is defective also.

    Pros: None

    Cons: Doesnt work

I wanted a true 5.1 surround system, the wife wanted something small and unobtrusive. We shopped around and argued for months looking for a solution we could both agree on. The Boston TVee 30 was one of the only sound bars I would consider owning and was the lowest priced one on my short list. Since I showed some interest in this product I received it as a surprise Christmas gift in 2011. Sound quality was okay but definitely does not justify its high price point. Although I was disappointed in the sound quality I decided to suck it up and keep it rather than return it and continue fighting for the 5.1 system I really wanted. My wife was really excited and proud of the surprise gift she got me. Bluetooth streaming was one of the primary selling points to me however for the first 8 months of ownership bluetooth streaming was incompatible with Apple products. Apple finally released an update recently that fixed bluetooth connectivity issues so you can now stream audio from your Apple device. Remote issues were irritating when sitting in any seat in my living room other than the one directly in front of the sound bar. December 28th 2012, (1 year + 3 days) after opening the product the subwoofer quit working. I called Boston to see if they would work with me on warranty repair since I was so close to the one year mark. Their response was too bad for you, its over 1 year we won't fix it under warranty. At least now I can get what I wanted originally.

Pros: Bluetooth audio streaming Wireless subwoofer Audio quality better than TV manufacturer brand sound bars.

Cons: Quit working after 1 year. Remote must be perfectly perpendicular to the soundbar. Sound quality did not meet my expectations for a product at this price point.

Hands down a rock solid soundbar that sounds great with both and videos.

Pros: Quick and easy setup. Crisp high's, mid's and just enough bass to not be too overwhelming.

Cons: Lack of a remote. For the price you'd assume one would be included... The range on the Bluetooth could be better.

First let me start by saying that the sound is incredible. I love the soundbar. Great sound, easy set up and very attractive. Three months after owning it the soundbar stopped working. It was a new unit, not used, refurbished etc. I contacted Boston Acoustics and they wanted me to ship it back. It cost 78 dollars to ship it. About two weeks later I received it back. It was not my original equipment. The grid had a bad smudge/stain that took quite some time to make it presentable. The subwoofer returned to them had non of the 'feet' permanently glued on. The one mailed back to me had the 'feet' glued on to bottom. It is a refurbished unit. Miy subwoofer was always placed on the side. On top of that, it has a ding on the bottom. Mine was mailed in pristine shape. I contacted them immediately and explained that the equipment I received was refurbished when I mailed brand new, not scratch and dent or refurbished equipment. It took them several months and several phone calls and emails for them to decide to replace the subwoofer. I received an email with a Fedex label. I called and asked how long it would take to get my subwoofer back once it's returned. They said 2 to 4 weeks!! I have been dealing with this since May, yes May! I expressed my shock that it could take 4 weeks and the person didn't seem to care.

Pros: Great sounding system. Mouth dropping

    Cons: Supporting personnel and polices

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit arrived well packaged and within 3 days of shipping. Installed the unit in a cabinet above a flat screen. Used the optical digital cable. Sound from the bar speaker was erratic with sound levels going up and down with popping at various times. Removed the cable and installed the analog cables. With both cables connected sound was barely over a whisper. Remove one of the analog cables and could get good sound out of one side only. Programming the sound bar to accept the TV's remote was easy and worked good. However the remote has to be aimed directly at the sound bar. Any offset in angle from dead on and the sound bar would not receive the signal Subwoofer produced good sound with a wide range of adjustment.

    Great Soundbar by Boston Accoustics

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If have no complaints about the quality of the sound from the TVee Model 30, it sounds incredible! I bought this despite the fact that there were a lot of complaints about the remote and bluetooth issues not working properly. Compared to the other soundbars this was the best that fit my needs for my home setup. The only downside is that I did have the remote issue when I first got my soundbar as many people had complained about it. It was pretty bad, but after calling Crutchfield and Boston I sent the unit back and now the remote issue works without a hitch. The range and angle problem have completely gone away. I would have to say Boston Accoustics service and support were great when it came to sending the unit back and returning it quickly. I just wish the unit didn't have the remote problem initially. If you like the unit enough, which in my opinion is worth it, be prepared to send it back for $50.00 and have them fix the IR sensor for you.

Pros: Great sound, easy setup, and bluetooth capable.

Cons: Having to send the unit back and pay $50.00 shipping cost to have the remote problem fixed... wasn't too happy about that.

The TVee works well! Clear and rich sound; far better sound the TV unit alone. Not surround, but even having lived with good surround at my last place, I find this soundbar satisfying and good enough this time around. I loved the easy set up (no speaker wires) and the wireless sub-woofer, which adds surprisingly good base. The remote worked just fine for me, though I must be within 20-30 degrees of directly in front of the soundbar. For my installation, this was not a problem, that is where we sit, but if you must control it from a seriously oblique angle, your remote may not work too well. I would buy again.

Pros: Easy to set up. Flexible: can source from TV, analog or bluetooth. Good sound.

Cons: Not true surround, but can't expect that for this price point.

    Apple bluetooth now works!

Update to my review after 9 months of use. I was disappoined when I got a new Ipod touch for christmas and the bluetooth feature did not work as I had 0S 5. As of March 10th there is a new update to apple software for Ipod and Ipad. OS 5.1 update now allows you to pair you apple device to the TVee 30. Dont forget the pairing code is 0000 for first time bluetooth connection. Still a great soundbar after all these months!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Soud is great considering it is a sound bar. I located the speaker system on a speaker shelf above a LG TV. The setup was easy and programming my remote was easy. Conversely, the sensitivity of the infrared located in the speaker was very poor. A Crutchfield technical representative was 70% helpful 70% correcting this problem. He was somewhat surprised that Boston Acoustic did not correct this well known problem prior to shipping this product.

Pros: Great sound and easy setup.

Cons: Sensitivity of the remote; SERIOUS issues with remote control sensitivity - Soundbar grille should have an open port for the remote sensor (grille blocks some of the remote signal) -

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am happy with the wonderful sound and the way the wireless sub lends bass. The unit is simple and sleek. A;lot has been said about remote issues so I connected my unit to my comcast dvr cable box audio out and this solved that. Every time it turns on or off the unit auto feature does the same and volume remains as set. Did have to set the trim to a lower setting as sensitive and make sure the soundbar and woofer are on the same id number .Bluetooth a bit hard to set. I have used the sony soundbar and love my zvok555 for the bedrooms, but I honestly feel this is the best unit for clear home theater sound out there. The sony can not deliver for me as well as the 300watts from BA. All have there odd issues. It would be best to have a remote to this unit with option for cable remote. Love it and would buy again.

Pros: Theater sound with real bass and 300 watts to bring the power. small sleek unit.PERFORMS AS INTENDED. REALLY WONDERFUL SOUND. i WOULD BUY AGAIN.

Cons: remote is hard to setup. Really needs its own remote,

The sound is very good. The ability to control it via remote (which does not come with the soundbar) is very difficult. The wireless subwoofer is synced very nicely and is great. I am so tempted to return this product because of the remote issue. For the price I would expect a smoother and easier operation.

    Pros: sound

    Cons: controlling via remote

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First unit delivered had subwoofer case damage, then the sub quit. Unit was replaced. New one works well. Sound from the tv is greatly improved. Subwoofer adds just enough "oomph" to make the sound have depth. My only complaint is the sensitivity of the remote control. Unless I'm aiming directly at the soundbar, in a straight line to the sensor and only about 6 feet from the unit... it won't work. It works better with the soundbar grille removed but the sensitivity is still far less than expected and it, obviously, doesn't look as nice this way. Otherwise, the sound is great and it seriously improves the tv sound. This issue, especially in a soundbar that is far from inexpensive, needs to be successfully resolved with a design change at the manufacturer level.

Pros: - Vastly improved sound from the tv - Nice looking unit, mounted directly beneath the wall mounted flat screen - Easy to hook up

Cons: - SERIOUS issues with remote control sensitivity - Soundbar grille should have an open port for the remote sensor (grille blocks some of the remote signal) - Soundbar needs a way to adjust the sound quality (ie, bass, treble and midrange levels) for personal tastes

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I fretted over getting the right sound bar for my living room. The process began after my wife and I decided that we just didn't hear as well as we used to,..victims of age. Then my 27 year old daughter came home for a visit and kept asking, "What did he say". That was our ha-ha moment. It wasn't us. It was our crappy HDTV sound. I wanted a system that wouldn't clutter the living room with speakers yet had good stereo fidelity, clarity of voice, and a strong bottom (sub-swoofer) to push the SFX and musical experience. Boston Acoustics makes good stuff, the reviews were strong for the Model 30, but it was a bit pricey. But after extensive research, we just couldn't live with the issues of cheaper systems. So, we bought it. Plugged it in. Turned it on. Programmed it the connection to our cable remote. And have been smiling ever since. I give it a 5-star rating because it is everything I hoped it would be. Awesome sound. By the way, I went to a Super Bowl party yesterday where the host had just spent thousands installing a upscale 7.1 built-in surround system into his game room. He was proud of his 65-inch screen and booming audio. My wife winked at me from across the room because our Model 30 just sounds better.

Pros: Sounds great. Connects to cable remote. Easy to set up. Looks OK.

Cons: Remote has to be within 45 degrees of the sound bar in order to connect. Which means that the person sitting most centered is the default controller of the viewing-hearing experience. Wish it had a wider connectivity range.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Marked improvement over TV sound reproduction. I am a high end audiophile so my comparison is a high hurdle. These speakers sound good and the bass reproduction is quite good. The wireless woofer works perfectly. Unit is well built and attractive. Programming the remote to the speakers is easy. However, there have been complaints that one needs to be close to the speakers for them to pick up the remote signal. I discovered that that Boston removed a circle of felt behind the front grill for the remote sensor. However, the cut out is not centered on the sensor. One needs to extend the cut out 1/8" higher and widen the cut out a little. Then the remote works well for volume control and mute functions. You do not need to drill a hole in the grill to achieve this.

Pros: Good sound, well built, attractive, very good bass.

Cons: Minor expansion of the felt cut out behind the front grill for the IR sensor will markedly improve the use of the remote.

You have to drill a hole in the grill for the remote to work! Otherwise the sound is great, the unit is easy to set up and the wireless sub woofer is decent. The sound was a major upgrade from the built in speakers of my Samsung D8000. The remote was easy to program. This would be a 5 star product if you didn't have to DRILL A HOLE IN THE GRILL FOR IT TO WORK!!!

Pros: Good sound, good features, easy to set up, looks good.

Cons: The remote only works from three feet away unless you drill a hole in the grill!

The TVee 30 met all expectations with one major exception. It is not compatible with IOS 5 devices for bluetooth streaming.

Pros: Good Sound, easy to use and setup.

Cons: Not compatible with IOS 5 - confirmed this with BA Tech Support and they say it is a Apple issue. Perhaps an upgrade will someday fix the issue.

Great sound but unresponsive remote caused me to send it back. I could not deal with having to get up and walking closer to the TV to raise or lower the sound. Boston Acoustics needs to fix this problem.

Pros: Great sound for the $$$

    Cons: Remote sensitivity

    MarkS from TN on 1/30/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, let me say that Crutchfield has been great to work with on this product. The issues with the product lie with Bostan Acoustics. The concept of the TVee Model 30 is a good one. The product execution is not where it should be. Boston Acoustics has some known issues with this product. Subwoofers not connecting are a recurring problem as well as the range of the remote control. Bluetooth is not compatible with the latest Apple products. Boston Acoustics says they are working on this, but there is no fix or timing at this point.

Pros: The sound is good. Big improvement over TV speakers and just short of a surround system.

Cons: Bluetooth not compatible with any Apple products with iOS5. Yes that's right, the latest iphones and itouch will not pair with TVee 30. Bluettoth connectivity was the reason I bought this unit and paid TWICE what I could have spent. The range of the remote is limited. Almost have to be directly in front of the unit and level with it. First subwoofer did not work out of the box. Optical cable supplied with unit is cheap and does not lock into place.

Replaced a bose 5 speaker surround sound system because we were sick of looking at all those ugly bundles of black speaker wire and weird-looking speakers. BA soundbar is much cleaner in appearance and sounds good, too.

Pros: Good sound quality. Clean appearance. Minimal wires.

Cons: Sound level adjustments are too course. Frequently level 3 is not loud enough, but level 4 is too loud. Anything above level 7 or 8 is probably dangerous to your hearing. Remote control must be at a 90 degree angle to the sensor or it doesn't work.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Delivery was prompt and trouble free, set up a breeze, and the sound is very good. The unit looks sharp and am very happy with it other than it seems that you need to be on a certain narrow angle directionally side to side from the front of the unit for the remote volume control to function. Works fine without the faceplate/speaker cover, so it seems to be a design flaw in the cover, perhaps. A bit frustrating sometimes but not a big deal. Otherwise a great unit.....

Pros: Easy set up, great sound

Cons: Remote control of volume will only function from a narrow angle in front of the unit.

Two months after purchasing this sound bar, I find myself not using it. It works horribly with the remote, and it does not sound much better than the TV. Definitely not worth the price. I wish I had returned it.

    Pros: easy to set up

Cons: unresponsive to remote unless directly in front of the soundbar; not a significant improvement over the sound that comes from my TV

Boston accoustics TVEE 30 Remote Sensor

Rand V from Spokane Wa on 12/27/2011

This is a nice sound bar system with one major problem. The remote control sensor is located behind the metal mesh front grill, it will only react to the remote control from a arm length distance. I drilled a hole in the grill to allow the remote signal to pass through. This alleviated the problem. I am glad I did not need to pay full retail for the tvee 30 here in Spokane considering this issue. It would not have been worth it to me to spend full price for a product that needed my handy work. For others who might have this issue I used a very new drill bit to be sure to cut a clean hole then inserted a black rubber grommet into the hole. This gave it a clean and neat appearance. I also own the tvee 20 an older smaller model, it is problem free.

Black Cloud on an otherwise fine product

ChuckH from DeLand FL on 12/26/2011

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Had this Boston Acoustics model 6 months and still very happy with the sound performance. The sub-woofer on the TV30 does lack some punch but the system TOTALLY out-performs my old Bose 3-in-One unit! I did a lot of research and spent the extra money to buy the TV30 because I was so sick of muddled dialog. The 3.1 system with center speaker meets the challenge (though I've listened to a different brand sound bar for half the price that does just as well). The issue with the IR Remote Sensor is totally unacceptable for a sound bar at this price. I fought the problem of the sensor not "seeing" the remote for months. Flat out will not work unless you are directly in front of the sound bar and less than 10' away. Forget operation at even a slight side angle. Even straight-on it has a mind of its own. I finally took the advice of others and drilled out the metal mesh over the sensor. It still doesn't work worth a hoot. This is a deal-killer! At this price, no way Boston Acoustics should expect people to make such a crude fix. I am offended they haven't embraced their customers and offered a recall or replacement grill, or something. Also shocked that Crutchfield's and trade reviewers are recommending the TV30 so highly. I would NEVER recommend this product to a anyone until the issue is resolved.

Pros: Great sound without an involved 5.1 set-up; easy wall-mount with template provided

Cons: IR Remote Sensor problems; short optical digital cable hook-up

Good sound but terrible IR remote interface

Jim from Boston MA on 12/20/2011

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased / installed this soundbar based on recommendations from this site as well as many others online. I had seen the info people having trouble with the IR remote connectivity, including the reviewer hear that had to drill a hole in his unit. I figured it really couldn't be that bad. Well, let me tell you that the other reviewers that had trouble with their remote are correct as I had a similar experience. I would urge any potential purchaser to be aware of this problem. Maybe it won't happen to you but unless you want take the chance of having to go through some modification fun (take unit apart, remove lens, drill hole in cover), just keep all of your packaging material so you can send it back. After I had the same problems as some of the other reviewers. I called Crutchfield tech support for help and they are aware of the issue and suggested the IR sensor lens removal fix. This is a pricey unit should not have to do these kinds of mods on a new product in this price range. I am really surprised that Crutchfield can "recommend" this unit with these kinds of reported problems. Buyer beware!

Pros: Easy to install (except for IR remote interface) and sounds great

Cons: Terrible IR remote sensor placement/design

Excellent soundbar - remote is fixable!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Others have already commented on the quality of this soundbar - for the price (more than I wanted to pay) I am quite pleased - really complements the rather poor audio output on my new 42" HDTV. Now concerning the remote issue - YES, the grill covers the IR detector for the remote and only works up close; as already mentioned in another review, you simply need to remove the metal around the grill hole covering the detector - took me less than 10 mins. w/ a small drill, Dremel tool, and hand file - now works w/o a problem. Yes, BA should simply put a 'hole' in that position in future models. About the Bluetooth - I've only tried it w/ my older iPod which cannot be updated to the new iOS 5.x - worked fine for me - now have an updated iPad but have no music on it to give that OS a try. Bottom line - I'll give the product 4 1/2* if possible because of the minor issues, but will just do a 5* vs. going the other way - personal choice! UPDATED 6/24/14: In early 2013, the BT sub went out - a call to BA was of no help and the unit was out of warranty, so I just used the soundbar which also stopped working a few days ago - now I have 2 pieces of junk and am out the purchase price! Yesterday, I bought another SB w/ BT sub for $130 ($20 rebate) - sounds pretty much the same as the BA - easy setup & came w/ its own remote (can live w/ that choice) - if this one breaks then I'm not going to feel jilted - likely will never look at the Boston Acoustics product again - plenty of other good choices.

Pros: Great sound & easy setup! UPDATED 6/24/14: Good sound if it works but you still have to deal w/ the remote issue.

Cons: Rather expensive & remote an initial issue? UPDATED 6/24/14: Too expensive. Poor customer support from BA. Irritating remote control function. Now I have to dispose of electronics junk!

Bluetooth allows others with a device to walk in and play their content without assistance. Does not have the features of a "sound projector" type of sound bar, such as dramatic movement in sound, but it doesn't have that kind of price tag either.

Pros: Bluetooth functionality, movie and music modes, three jack types, can program a universal remote to control it.

Cons: Subwoofer is powerful enough for my small room only.

I have checked out a number of surround bars, and I like this unit the best. I have it placed in a bedroom that is 18x25. The 3.1 system seperates sound nicely and is a responsive system. The sound moves across the screen and creates a dynamic listening experience. The sub is what you can expect from a wireless soundbar system. It is noticeable and responsive yet lacks the punch of a standard sub. My perspective is this. For less than 1,000.00 there is no better unit. This will not replace a 5.1 or 7.1 listening experience. I wanted a soundbar that would invite me to watch TV in my bedroom, and this soundbar definately does the job. My opinion is that if you are using this as your speaker system for a home theatre experience, you will miss out on what the current codec's offer. I'm glad I made the purchase!!

Pros: Very easy to set up. Had the soundbar working in ten minutes. Appreciate the 3.1 sound in a sub 1,000.00 product

Cons: The directions to set up the remote sinc. are not written well, and takes longer to figure out then to set up. The Optical Digital Audio cable is a little short. I suggest getting better quality cabling

As I said below, sounds much better then tv. Great with movies and sports. No need for separate remote as you can easily program your existing remote to operate the soundbar. Now for the downside. If you have upgraded to iOS5 with your iPhone recently, the bluetooth feature advertised with this soundbar WILL NOT WORK. Boston Acoustics is aware of this and HOPEFULLY Apple will put a fix out, but they (Apple)to my knowledge, have not even acknowledged that this is a problem yet! Overall a great soundbar but really want to be able to use it's bluetooth feature.

Pros: Much better then TV audio. Sounds great with movies and sports. Music sounds pretty good as well. I also like that you can easily in about 30 seconds program your remote to operate the soundbar.

Cons: Since upgrading to iPhone iOS5, the soundbar is not working via Bluetooth at all. So one of the features that I liked and looked forward to, which is being able to stream the music from my iPhone to the soundbar DOES NOT WORK.

Fast ship great sounding product. Grill cover can be easily misaligned and cover the power and input buttons on the right face of the soundbar. Once you know about it not a big deal. Just frustrating my wife until I showed her how cleaning it made the cover not align correctly. I had a problem with the IR sensor straight out of the box, as mine was not aligned properly. Crutchfield walked me through pushing the IR plastic cover into the soundbar and I was able to bring the IR sensor back into alignment with the hole that it is made to sit in. Not for the faint of heart and not for the non skilled person. My remote control went from working at only <3 feet to working at about 13 feet. Crutchfield said not to worry if I broke it they would send me a new one. I have this soundbar sitting on my glass tv stand in my bedroom. 10' ceilings room is 15'X25' and offers a great sound that is not to big for my room. 55" Sony above the BA TVee 30. I have had the BA TVee 30 for nearly a year and am very happy with it. I might be buying another for the Airstream. This is the only Soundbar I know that you can program so you do not have to have an additonal remote. I just use my Direct TV remote (after programing it) and that is the only remote I need for complete control.

Pros: Sound is great. Like the grill over the speakers so I dont have to look at the speakers and have junior touch them. Bluetooth streaming from my iPhone.

Cons: Remote control learn option is not described very well. Once you program your remote the range that the soundbar receives your remote could be better and more sensitive.

Excellent sound and easy setup. Crutchfield did an excellent job keeping me informed from the time I placed my order to the delivery. If you are looking for a great surround sound without speakers everywhere this is for you.

    very good soundbar

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this to replace a Denon sounbar purchase a few years ago. This unit is much better and cost less than I paid for the Denon. The unit sounds very good and has plenty on power, but you should not expect true surround. The dialog in movies can be heard and understood. The sound bar was very easy to set up. I just connected the included HDMI cable to the tv and it worked. I have a satelite receiver, dvd, and Roku hooked to the tv so everything just play thru the tv to the soundbar. You do have to program your tv remote to work the soundbar, (It does not have it's own remote which I guess is good) I love it, highly recommend the soundbar.

Really Good Sound With a Few Interface Issues

    Court from Mississippi on 8/4/2011

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound of this soundbar is really nice. My wife and I have a moderate size living room, and this has plenty of power and good sound for it. Our living room doesn't setup well for 5.1 surround, so this was our best option. The wireless subwoofer is a big plus with this system as well as the Bluetooth streaming. My biggest complaint with the system is the IR interface. the metal grate that covers the IR receiver interferes some with turning the volume up/down, mute, etc. When sitting on the couch, it's not a big deal. When in the kitchen or to the side of the device, it's very hard to get the soundbar to recognize the Directv remote I use. Considering, I don't change the volume that much, the improvement in sound quality WAY outways this minor annoyance.

    Quality soundbar

I ordered both the Polk Surroundbar 6000 and the Boston Acoustics TVee 30 to try at home. Polk has always been a favorite of mine but the the Boston earned a place in our living room. Our room is 15'x19' with vaulted ceilings, partially open concept. Both of the systems were pleny capable for that type of room. What won me over on the Boston was the sound just seemed better with both music and movies. Bass on the Boston was tighter than the Polk. I like the quality of the Boston's cabinet also seems more substantial than the Polk. I really like the ease of the soundbar compared to my old Yamaha / Polk 5.1 system. In my opinion a 5.1 system is not worth the trouble in our house for what a good sound bar can do in a typical family room. It could use a second optical imput.

Overview: The Boston Acoustics TVee Model 30 is a two-piece home theater entertainment system that consists of a soundbar speaker and wireless subwoofer with virtual surround sound and Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming. The TVee Model 30 offers dramatically better sound quality than your flat-panel TV's built-in speakers. There is only one cable which connects the system to your television and you can control it with your TV's remote. The TVee Model 30 is even equipped with an auxiliary input and built-in Bluetooth for connection of other external audio sources. The Boston Acoustics TVee Model 30 is perfectly sized for flat-panel TVs 40" or larger.

Soundbar Speaker: The TVee Model 30's soundbar achieves its stunning audio performance through the use of three 3.5" Fiber Ceramic Copolymer Material (FCCM) mid-bass drivers and three 0.75" dome tweeters loaded in a bass-reflex enclosure, with three front-firing ports. The soundbar can be placed above or below your 40" or larger flat-panel TV. It should be centered with your television. There are two large keyhole slots (22.8125" apart) to facilitate mounting it on a wall (mounting template supplied).

Wireless Subwoofer: The wireless-powered subwoofer is equipped with a front-firing 7" FCCM (Fiber Ceramic Copolymer Material) woofer inside a bass-reflex enclosure with a front-firing port. The wireless subwoofer's enclosure is made of ABS and has been internally braced with MDF to eliminate resonance. The TVee Model 30 system's 7" front-firing wireless subwoofer delivers deep and powerful bass. The TVee Model 30's powered subwoofer gets its signal from the system's soundbar wirelessly (5.8 GHz), so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room (up to 50'). Plus, the compact wireless subwoofer can be placed either vertically or horizontally.

Note: 4 self-adhesive rubber feet are included to help prevent against vibration.

300 Watt (Peak) System Power: The soundbar and wireless subwoofer are self-powered and each are equipped with its own built-in amplifier. The TVee Model 30 features a total system power of 300 watts to drive both the soundbar and wireless subwoofer. With a total system power of 300 watts, the TVee Model 30 virtual surround sound speaker system envelops you in rich, room-filling audio.

Digital Optimized Virtual Surround: The TVee Model 30 features Boston's digitally optimized virtual surround processing for pinpoint, theater-like, surround sound. You can indicate whether you have table-top or wall-mounted the soundbar speaker for better imaging. The soundbar's exclusive Boston DSP control switch maximizes performance for movies and music.

    • Movie Mode: In the Movie Mode, Boston's Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround delivers clear movie dialogue and music along with cinematic surround audio effects.
    • Music Mode: the Music Mode provides enhanced digital stereo music reproduction.

One Wire TV Connection: The TVee Model 30's soundbar speaker connects to your television with either a single stereo RCA cable or optical digital cable (also requires AC power). You can get this signal from your TV's audio output, or from your satellite/cable box. The powered subwoofer gets its signal wirelessly (2.4 GHz) from the soundbar; it only requires plugging into an AC outlet.

    • Analog Stereo: The soundbar speaker features an analog stereo RCA input to connect your TV or sat/cable box.
    • Digital Optical: The soundbar speaker also features an optical digital input for Dolby Digital decoding from your connected TV or sat/cable box.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Boston Acoustics TVee Model 30 features built-in Bluetooth (v2.1+EDR) and supports the Bluetooth A2DP (v1.2) profile. The TVee Model 30 allows you to stream audio from your Bluetooth enabled device, such as a smart-phone or computer. The TVee Model 30 can be paired to more than one device (although only one such device can play music via Bluetooth at one time). Once you have paired your device, the TVee Model 30 will automatically search for available paired devices when you select the unit's Bluetooth input. Typical range is up to 33 feet.

Note: This unit does not control playback functions of your Bluetooth enabled device. Not all Bluetooth devices will be compatible.

Auxiliary Input: The Boston Acoustics TVee Model 30 features a stereo auxiliary (3.5mm) input to connect your portable MP3 player or other mobile audio device.

Volume Controls: The soundbar speaker is equipped with front-mounted volume controls. You can also program your television's or satellite/cable box's remote control to operate the soundbar's volume. The wireless subwoofer features a rear-panel independent volume control (min-max).

Trim Level Switch: The soundbar's trim-level switch changes the input sensitivity (1-3) of the TV Model 30 to match the output level of your TV or satellite/cable box.

Wireless ID Switches: The wireless subwoofer connects to the soundbar automatically. Both the soundbar and subwoofer have wireless ID switches, The various switch settings (1-4) change frequency of the wireless signal the soundbar sends to the subwoofer. The two switches must be set to the same position.
