Retrosound European-style Faceplate w/Knobs
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I needed a faceplate to fit the Retrosound Model One radio I was going to get for my 1964 Plymouth Belvedere. I wanted a faceplate that would nestle into the original radio bezel in my car and which would complement the appearance of the dash on my car. Greg at Retrosound, and Buddy at Crutchfield, were extremely helpful in providing me with assistance and information on the various faceplates and knobs available to fit the Model One. I settled on the European-style faceplate, mated to black front and chrome rear knobs. After I ordered the Model One radio, faceplate and knobs from Crutchfield, the order arrived at my door just over 24 hours later! Amazing service! The faceplate fit onto the Model One's display head perfectly. I did have to use my Dremel tool to slightly ovalize the shaft holes in the faceplace to fit the width between the shafts. The knobs fully covered up the ovalized holes when I was finished with the installation. I really liked the fact that the knobs were made out of metal rather than the cheap-feeling plastic knobs most radios seem to come with. While the faceplate itself is made from plastic, it looks very nice and does an excellent job of setting off the new radio without making it look too modern or out-of-place in my 50-year-old car.
Pros: Faceplate is well-made and perfectly fit the display head of the Retrosound Model One radio it was being used with. The knobs are nicely made and finished, and since they are made of metal they have a nice, solid feel to them. The customer support and service I got from both Retrosound and Crutchfield was fantastic.
