Go wireless with Bluetooth

Bluetooth gives you hands-free calling convenience, plus a wireless connection to the songs stored on your compatible music player. Axxera includes an external Bluetooth microphone which you can place in a good spot in your vehicle for superior hands-free communication.

Connect and control your audio and video

You'll enjoy your MP3 and WMA music using the front USB input, DVD/CD player, and microSD card slot. You can also use the USB input to connect your iPod®, iPhone®, or iPad® for control, charging, and play back of your tunes.

Use the AV604Bi's front or rear analog audio/video inputs to hook up your favorite portable audio player, game console, or another video source. This receiver boasts two video outputs to send movies to rear video screens, so you can keep your crew entertained on the longest road trips. If you've got a big vehicle, you'll appreciate the input for a rear-view camera — helpful for when you're maneuvering your vehicle in tight spaces.

And a couple extras

Once you've picked your music, you can tweak it with the four EQ presets. If you're adding amps, you'll appreciate the three sets of 4-volt preamp outputs for an ultra-clean signal for your amps.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

I have been using this product for almost a year...I purchased this unit because I was on a budget and it seemed to receive fair reviews. I am very disappointed with the unit. The touchscreen has poor visibility under bright conditions, and it is not very sensitive to touch so takes multiple attempts to get it to work when trying to make a selection. I use it mostly with MP3's on an SD card, the shuffle function is horrible, with 32GB of music it consistently selects the same group of about 20 songs, and it will not stay in shuffle mode after powering off the vehicle so you have to go through the process of resetting it every time you restart the vehicle, with the poor functionality and visibility of the touchscreen it is a pain in the butt. The audio quality is far below that of the "name brand" units, I cannot set it so that the highs aren't shrill and the bass isn't washed out. I have it connected to a low profile powered sub, and I cannot get a consistent tight, clear bass out of it no matter how hard I try. The sub came out of another vehicle where it sounded fantastic. I added aftermarket speakers, nothing fancy, but a series I have used before, the sound is worse than the factory stereo. Very disappointed in this product and will not be purchasing this brand again.

    Pros: low price

    Cons: Poor Sound, poor functionality

    Nice receiver!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Picked up this receiver shortly before embarking on a long road trip, and I'd say it served its purpose quite well. It has all the hookups: aux, iPod, and Bluetooth, and the capability to add two additional A/V inputs. I haven't used the DVD or CD functionality yet, but they're there! Unfortunately, when you try and use modes that aren't connected, it displays an unflattering 'not connected' message, but this is attributed to the fact it is essentially a TV. A couple things stood out to me about how it functioned that I didn't anticipate: when using Bluetooth, it does not display song/artist/album information, and when changing to a different screen or adjusting a setting outside of the music screen, the music will pause. The iPod connection displays everything however, including album artwork, and does in fact charge your phone. The display leaves a little something to be desired from an aesthetic standpoint, but it gets the job. Installation went pretty smoothly, I had quite a few wires from the receiver to my adapter that I didn't end up using, but this probably a result of the age of my car than anything that should be reflected upon the receiver or Crutchfield. As stated earlier, make sure you grab crimp caps for the adapter, in addition to having all the other tools (panel tools, wire stripper, etc.). Even though I ordered new speakers, I was able to install the receiver without losing any of sound or quality from the existing ones.

Pros: Easy to install, comes as advertised

Cons: Doesn't display song information on Bluetooth, aesthetically is utilitarian.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced my stock radio and speakers with the AV604Bi and Fosgate speakers.Installation of the radio was straight forward with the Supplied dash adapter. The front door speakers needed to be modified slightly to align with the factory mounting screw holes. Rear door speakers also needed some modification to use the supplied adapter cables. Radio and speakers sound awesome !

Pros: All the necessary gear was provided to do the install with the exception of electrical crimp caps.

Cons: There should be a set of crimp caps supplied with every install purchase

    Great unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This receiver is great! For the price you can't beat the features. All the av, aux, and USB ports right on the front of the unit. They flow with the design of the simple looking unit and blend in to the front face. The touch response of the screen is clean and the sound quality is great producing a crisp clean sound. It made my stock car speakers sound great. Crutchfield sent everything I needed for the install for free including vehicle specific instructions.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted a radio for my 06 F350 to replace the stock 6 cd changer radio. (CDs are so last week). I wanted SD, USB, and A/V inputs. Installation was easy thanks to CF. My backup camera works well with the unit. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles so this does a very good job. I probably will not play a DVD in it but it has this capability.

Pros: Price (especially with the scratch and dent dept.) Easy to use Good value.

Cons: Not a name brand (but who really cares?)

Sound good should have place for remote and microphone

    Good unit for price point

Socarboy99 from South Carolina on 8/22/2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit in a Suzuki SX4. It fit the opening well and it fit better using the OEM radio chassis bracket using the Metra mounting kit's face plate. I was misled by the description "Steering Wheel Compatible Built In" and that was the final deciding criteria for me purchasing this unit. I was under the assumption that that meant it was "plug and play" with my car's steering wheel controls. What it meant was that an interface adapter was not required. I had to make a couple of calls to Crutchfield in helping me to splice the two wires for this on the car's harness. You can forget going to the Dual/Axxera website for help as it provides zero support. Their site even took numerous attempts to navigate just to register the product for warranty. One other thing, if you buy this unit, and I guess this would also apply to most aftermarket head units, you will have to upgrade your car's speakers over the OEM cheap paper cone units as they will sound like crap with a higher performing aftermarket unit. So far I'm satisfied with the Axxera AV604Bi but time will tell if I made a good choice.

    Pros: Price point and features

Cons: Manufacturer's website is a joke. Crutchfield should do a better job in explaining steering wheel control built in.

    Decent unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a decent A/V radio with just a few complaints.

Pros: 1.) Easy installation 2.) Quality unit above the unit price

Cons: 1.) The audio portion is exceptionally "bassy" without much chance of adjusting it out. 2.) The USB won't charge your phone. 3.) The bluetooth interface could be easier to interact with.

With built-in Bluetooth, you can wirelessly connect your Bluetooth capable mobile phone to listen to calls through your car's audio system. Your car audio speakers will mute automatically during a call. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.
    • Audio Streaming: The Axxera AV604Bi also allows you to play back stored music and streamed music from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet, or personal music player using a Bluetooth connection. You can control (Play/Pause/Skip) the music stored on your Bluetooth audio player from the AV604Bi. This unit does not display song/artist information from Bluetooth audio devices.

Note: Before using the unit's Bluetooth functions, you must pair your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone or audio device to the AV604Bi. Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some mobile devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the AV604Bi.

    Audio & Tuner Section

MOSFET Amplifier: The Axxera AV604Bi is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the AVH614BH are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 16 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts total)
Note: The power specifications for the AV604Bi are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

4V/6Ch RCA Outputs: The AV604Bi features front, rear and subwoofer 4-volt RCA outputs. The front and rear speaker RCA outputs are balance and fade adjustable. The subwoofer RCA output is non-fading.

EQ: The Axxera DVD receiver features the following preset EQ curves (Jazz, Rock, Classical, Pop, & Off) to customize your music listening.

Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume.

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation (this can be turned On or Off).

AM/FM Tuner: The Axxera AV604Bi features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, & preset tuning. The built-in AM/FM tuner allows you to store up to 18 FM station presets and 12 AM station presets. You can tune your presets manually or have the head unit do it automatically. The Local function allows only strong radio stations to be received, blocking stations with weaker signals. You can switch the tuner between USA or European tuning.

    AV Connections

Dual AV Inputs/Video Outputs: The Axxera AV604Bi DVD receiver is fitted with two audio/video inputs. There is a front-panel 3.5mm audio/video input for connecting a temporary external AV source, such as a MP3 player or game console. There is also a rear-panel composite video/stereo RCA input for connection of a permanent external audio/video source, such as a Blu-ray player or TV tuner. In addition, the DVD receiver features two rear-panel composite video outputs for integration of a ceiling-mounted or headrest entertainment system in your vehicle.

Rear-View Camera Input: The Camera Input consists of a Composite video RCA jack for connecting an optional rear-view back-up camera (sold separately). This RCA input enables you to connect a rear-view camera to display the area behind your vehicle. The increased view encourages and facilitates safer driving. When an optional rearview camera is connected to this unit, the rear view image is displayed on the screen when your vehicle is placed in reverse gear (orange wire of the harness must be connected to reverse light wire of vehicle). Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.75 seconds. Audio from your music source will continue playing, while the back-up camera is displayed.
