Overview

Our take on the Dual XD7600

Performance, style, and flexibility — Dual's XD7600 delivers it all, and at a price that's hard to resist. Not only does this CD receiver come primed to anchor your mobile audio system with a strong built-in amp (22 watts RMS x 4), it includes a handy jack for connecting a portable music player. Just connect the iplug to the XD7600's auxiliary RCA input jacks, mount it in a convenient spot (under the dash, in the glove compartment, in the center console — wherever you like to keep your player) and go! No more dangling wires to get in the way of your clean installation.

And talk about good looking. The sleek, flip-down faceplate motors into position at the touch of a button. You also get a cool, blue backlight that will really light up your nights, with a negative display to ensure that everything is easy to read, day or night. If security is a concern, detach the face when you leave the car for extra peace of mind. The oversized rotary encoder knob makes system adjustments a snap, and a remote control is provided for back seat song surfers.

Five selectable EQ curves allow for on-the-fly sound adjustments, while the 2-band equalizer lets you customize the highs and lows to suit your music and your taste. Source Audio Memory can save different bass/treble settings for the AM/FM tuner and CD functions. You can even connect an external amp or powered subwoofer to the set of preamp outputs to build a thumpin' system.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great CD tuner. AND the price can't be beat!

It is the same price as WalMart BUT you get the mounting kit, wire kit, and din tools (for a Ford) INCLUDED, and it's pre-wired for an amp.

I've tried to get it to skip, and except for some rough railroad track crossings (duh), it works fine.

My kids love it, and if I'm not careful it will walk into one of their cars ;-). The remote works from outside the truck (for tailgating).

All in all a great value and I'll be returning to Crutchfield for future purchases.

Great Product

Tommy from Auburn, AL on 12/7/2005

This is a great head unit. I have very few complaints about the unit. I'll list my only 2 dislikes about it first.
Cons-
1. There is a spot where the volume jumps.(While turning the volume up there is a large jump between the volume levels 9-10.)
2. It does not look exactly like the picture. It has a shiney finish like the XD-7700.

Pros-
1. Looks great.
2. Fairly easy to install. (My first time installing anything like this.)
3. Sounds great even through stock speakers.
4. The iplug is great for an MP3 player.

Many of my friends cant believe I only spent about $150 on this head unit, they all guess that I paid in the $300's.
My stock speakers and woofer in my Jeep Wrangler sound better than my friends upgraded system in his truck thanks to this product, my friend wasn't too happy to hear of the news though.

This head unit is nothing, Im sure the first thing most of you said when you saw it was " Wow It has a flip down face " and boom you bought it, I bought this head unit once, and the Internal Amp Blew within a week of owning it, returned it got another one, motorized face plate wouldnt retract back, Returned it and tried one last time, Cds Skipped, And no lights worked on it.

For the Price of This ( and cheaper) you could go get a amazing head unit Like alpine, sony, clarion, pioneer, kenwood, jvc...

Please People Listen to me, ive been installing for years now, i know you all think because it has a flip down face plate that you think its cool and good, but really its not

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is an excellant stereo for my wife. It gives her everything she needs to listen to her music and it looks great in her car. When I get ready to upgrade my vehicle with an after market cd player, I will be getting the model just up from this one since it is able to play mp3 formats also. This doesn't break the bank, and you absolutely get your money's worth with a little extra.

Good looks, Great Price

2005 Honda Civic
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price this is a very good motorized cd player. The preset EQ's are pretty good. The Loud Button really gives it the extra push and bass to really increase low end response without raising the volume too much. I have a 2005 Civic Coupe and it is bad for me because it is at an upward slant so i cant really see whats on the display, but then again i never really check it, because all the controls are easy displayed when the faceplate is closed, especially the giant volume knob. Overall, if you're not looking to spend to much money i suggest buying this, but the next grade up the one with the mp3 player has a nice rich reverse glow screen.

Execelent buy for people on a budget !!!

Alexis from Arlington, Texas on 11/5/2005

For people on a budget who want great sound and looks from a Radio/CD this is the one. It is very easy to use and the remote makes it nice for use at outdoor parties. It is also nice that Dual includes a hard case to carry the faceplate in for safe keeping. When we purchase a second car we will order another one!!!

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had to replace my 10 year old Kenwood head, since it would no longer play CD's (it could never play burners). After checking out the Dual XD7600 at Best Buy, I felt it was a good, quality receiver. Crutchfield had it much cheaper, of course, so I ordered it.

Great sound, good adjustability, great looks, LOVE the motorized faces, and it mounted up with not one problem or hesitation. Music bumps out of the Rockfords with better clarity and much deeper bass now. A couple of fairly rigorous bumps showed that the laser will take a good rattle, and not skip.

I do not like the lack of illumination adjustment, although the brilliant blue light is very cool. Also, being in the Army, I prefer 24 hour time, so I also do not like having the choice of American frequencies without 24 hour.

All in all, a terrific upgrade!

This stereo is great for the price. I didnt feel like paying big money for good looks and i didnt have to. This same product would cost much more with other companies. The moterized face plate makes this stereo look real sharp and it was an easy install for me.

good bang for buck

Brian from Seattle, Wa on 7/18/2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Tried it out, but will be exchanging up to a better brand. Was easy to install and fit well in my 98 Subaru Legacy Outback. The amp is strong and sounded very good in my factory 6 speaker system. However, The faceplate is clunky and awkward to remove/install, CDR playback can be fussy, The non dimming bright blue illumination is very distracting at night, and the tuner has trouble locking in on stations that my factory deck had no problems with. I'm glad I bought at Crutchfield and not a retail shop...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great looking head unit, and perfectly easy install. Once again Crutchfield has come through. My only issue is in my 05 Ford F-150, the stereo mounts quite high on the dash and with an upward slant, so the screen is a little hard to see, but I may try to reverse the dash kit so that the cubby is above the head unit. We shall see, but all in all, awesome unit, very cool, different look!

Awesome Headunit

1998 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit because of several reasons, price, motorized faceplate, and the fact that it was black to match my interior, and it has blue lights to match my interior neon. I love this thing, at night it is awesome with the display showing or covered. I'm used to it being bright inside my car at night so adding the Dual didn't affect me any. Everyone who has seen it so far has loved it, especially the girls, hahaha. Anyway, it does an excellent job pushing 4 Pioneer 6"x8" 3-Way speakers as well as 2 additional Pioneer 5 1/4" 2-Way speakers. If you want to crank the bass as loud as you can, you will need a sub and amp, but I don't like super loud bass, so it works perfectly. The bass that it produces is really good, and I don't see the need for subs. I highly recommend it. Fits great in 94-98 Mustangs.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm a long time crutchfield customer, my boss bought this receiver and I thought it was cool. I never heard of Dual as I'm a long time pioneer fan,but I thought I'd try it. the service, shipping, and Installation guide as always is super, The plus side, nice price,I give dual a thumbs up for adding the AUX iplug jack (pioneer charges $39 bucks) good clean sound but with an amp will be even better. The negitive side, the detachable faceplate looks and feels very cheap, cheeesy, you have to be very careful removing or puting it on and until you get used to it,you fumble trying to put it on, my biggest gripe is that at night it's very, very bright,I drive at night so there's no dimmer and even the display is covered, what little light I do get is very distracting to me. I thought about returning this unit, but I'll just keep it for the time being.Nice unit but it doesn't work for me.

Beetle Owners Beware

Ginger from Connecticut on 7/5/2005

2000 Volkswagen Beetle
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This stereo has great specs and the auxilary input is a real plus. The sliding faceplate is a little strange to me since I've never had one before, but that is a personal preference. EXCEPT for the fact that it turns out it doesn't work with my 2000 VW Beetle even though it shows up in the list of stereos that fit that car. I had some trouble getting the stereo to fit into the tight space in this car, but finally did so -- only to find that the faceplate won't slide down because of the shape of the dashboard right below the stereo! The faceplate has to slide down in order for a CD to be inserted, and also to expose the digital display that sits behind the faceplate. So beware -- if you have a Beetle this stereo will not work for you. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way and have to return mine. Otherwise this is a really nice stereo at a good price.

Not the best for this application

cruz2x2 from Houston, TX on 6/10/2005

Awesome head unit, plenty of juice to drive the 5-1/2" Kickers at each corner. Very cool display and smooth motorized action. My problem is that in my '05 Honda Civic the unit sits at an upward angle which makes it difficult to view the display screen when the face is open. The unit itself deserves 5 stars as does Crutchields service and attention to detail. As always, all necessary hardware, adapters, harnesses and instructions were included with my order making installation a breeze. Thanks again, Rene. HOU-TX.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation could not have been easier. Thanks to the install gear from Crutchfield, I got this in in less than an hour. And the unit is fantastic. I have an '03 Ford Focus and the factory unit wasn't cutting it. I bought this solely to connect my Sirius PNP unit through it's available AUX input. And I couldn't be happier. I would deifinitely recommend this receiver.

Great value for the money

Michael from West Chester, Pennsylvania on 4/13/2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to replace my existing AM/FM CD receiver in my 2002 Saturn L300 after getting a XM radio. The FM modulator was not giving me the sound quality that I expected so it was time to purchase a receiver with AUX inputs. I also wanted more power too. The Dual XD7600 kept appearing in my searches. The price was right and it had all the features I was looking for. I ordered it from Crutchfield and it arrived in 3 days (as promised). Installation could have only been easier if someone else did it. The unit fits perfectly in the dash and the supplied cable harness made the installation a 'no-brainer'. As far as the Dual's performance; excellent! I am driving Infinity 6.25" speakers in the front doors and Kenwood 6x9's in the rear. The sound is clean, especially using the XM radio. I can't believe I waited so long to upgrade to this head-unit. I highly recommend the Dual XD7600!

Good Deal, Even Better Sound

ted.s. from Chicago Ridge, IL on 3/19/2005

Dual is a new company that hasn't been around as long as brands like Alpine or Pioneer. I had my Alpine stolen a couple of weeks ago in the school's parking lot, during school hours. So, I decided to get this one, and it was totally worth it. The motorized faceplate/screen is really cool plus the auxiliary inputs let me hook up the mp3 player without any sound-degrading fm transmitters or cassette adapters.
What's even better is that with some tweaking of the EQ and the front/rear balance I got the system to sound very nicely over 4 new speakers. The rear Sony 6x9's get closer to subwoofer level with the bass turned up, and Iron Maiden never sounded so good before!
I had thrown away the box it came in and all the reciepts i had. Still crutchfield agreed to send me a new reciever and even sent me a shipping label so i could return the broken one free of charge. This is above and beyond any service I have ever had anywhere.Best around ..........period

I installed the Dual XD7600 in my 1995 Mercedes E320 with ease and was blown away by the awsome quality of the sound when matched with the Bose Speakers that come standard on the Mercedes.
I was also very pleased with how it looks mounted, very high class profile that sets off the center console with a sharp look.
The other really nice feature is the Drop Down Face with the Detachable Face Plate for Security...I would HIGHLY RECOMEND this product to anybody...Stands on it's own against any of the big name brands.
I searched the Net. and you could find it cheaper, but after shipping, tax and the added parts without support...FOR GET IT...Crutchfield's staff are the best...FAST Shipping...and ALL required parts needed for a complete install come FREE...Top Notch Product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased this receiver for my 1996 Mercury Sable, and Cruthfield sent me the faceplate I needed to intergrate it right in to my factory opening, not to mention the woderfully laid out instructions that they sent as well. It took me a while to finish but the end result was all worth the trouble. This receiver is worth every penny. The moterized face is the coolest thing I've ever seen and its usually found on much more expensive receivers. Never in a million years did I think that I would be able to install or do any moding to my car but with the help of cruthcfield I was able, to thanks
