Built-in controls
When your Apple player is connected to the front-panel USB input, you'll enjoy cruising control from the face of the receiver. Search for your favorite playlists, artists, songs, and more, all while your device gets charged. If you prefer using your iPod's controls, you can use its clickwheel or touchscreen to navigate through all your stored music.

Front auxiliary input
When you don't have your iPod on hand, you can keep the music going by loading in a CD, even a disc full of MP3 and WMA files, or by jacking another device into the front-panel aux input. A set of preamp outputs simplifies the job of adding a powered sub for some extra bump in your bass.

Solid power output
The XDMA5280's built-in MOSFET amplifier uses a special type of transistor that delivers extra power. And you'll find seven preset EQ curves that allow you to quickly change the tone to match your music.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm a value shopper and that means I want the best product for the least amount of money. This unit looks good on paper, but its sounds and controls leave something to be desired. There were no reviews when I bought this open box stereo, so I took a chance. Originally had the Kenwood KDC-MP342U, but then needed a new stereo. This unit was far poorer in quality than the Kenwood. Muffled sound, the programming was klunky. I lost my radio station presets without disconnecting my battery. Ipod controls had a few bugs- for example, the title of the song on my iphone was not displaying on the unit properly. I returned this unit and got a different one. I'd reccommend the JVC Arsenal KDA735BT CD Receiver- for just a little more, you a much better stereo.

    Audio Section

MOSFET Amplifier: The Dual XDMA5280 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the XDMA5280 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the XDMA5280 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 18 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts total)

Preset EQ Curves: The Dual CD Receiver features the following preset EQ curves (Flat, Pop, Jazz, Classic, Beat, Rock, & User) to customize your music listening.

Bass &Treble: The Bass & Treble can be independently adjusted from -6 to +6. Bass & Treble settings are retained for each mode individually. Any adjustments to the Bass or Treble settings automatically cancel the current EQ curve.

2V/2Ch Preamp Outputs: The Dual XDMA5280 features a pair of 2-volt preamp outputs to connect an external amplifier.

Programmable Turn-On Volume: You can program the unit to turn on at a specific volume (1-46).

Source Volume Level: The Source Volume Level control allows a gain adjustment for each audio source (AM, FM, CD, Aux, USB & iPod). You can set the source volume level for each mode, depending on the relative volume of each audio source.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every button press will output a beep tone.

    Radio Functions

AM/FM Tuner: The Dual XDMA5280 features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, & preset tuning.

Preset Tuning: The built-in AM/FM tuner allows you to store up to 18 FM station presets and 12 AM station presets. You can tune your presets manually or have the head unit do it automatically.

Local: The Local function allows only strong radio stations to be received, blocking stations with weaker signals.

European Tuning: You can switch the tuner between USA or European tuning.

    Display Features

Detachable Face: The Dual CD Receiver features a detachable faceplate to deter theft (no face case is supplied). The head unit includes a face-fixing screw if you prefer that the unit's faceplate always stays attached.

Note: An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

10-Character LCD: The XDMA5280 features a 10 character LCD with white text & black background for easy viewing during the day or nighttime.

Display Settings: The head unit offers the following display settings.

    • Scrolling: You can change the scrolling style used for displayed information on the LCD screen. Choose from Off (no scrolling), Once (scrolls once), 15 Secs (scrolls once per 15 seconds), and On (constantly scrolls).
    • Display Dimmer: The head unit's display features three illumination dimmer settings (High/Medium/Low).

12/24 Hour Clock: The unit's built-in clock will display 12-hour AM/PM time in USA frequency spacing mode. In European frequency spacing mode, the clock will display 24-hour time.

Note: The clock can be set to stay on even when the head unit is turned off.

Power-On Message: This feature allows a "Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening" text message to be shown on the unit's LCD screen when it is powered on.

Demo Mode: You can enable or disable the unit's demonstration mode.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The XDMA5280 comes supplied with an 9-button IR remote control which provides wireless control over the Dual CD Receiver.
