Got this for my wife's car. She loved it. Couldn't say enough good about the stereo and my installation. Thanks for the install help Crutchfield. While I have put in several head units and other audio equipment, it is always nice to have the 'extras' that you guys include.

    Pros: Fit, Function, sound

Cons: Blue tooth transmitting a little lacking.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The fit and function of this unit is excellent. Installation including wiring up the harness was less than an hour. It look great and the sound is excellent! Paired up perfectly with our phones and we love playing the iPods through the car speakers. My only concern is that the hands free mic. picks up a lot of ambient noise and it can be difficult to hear the driver on the other end. A foam bonnet may help to filter some of the noise.

Pros: Legendary customer service, excellent fit and fuction, pricing can't be beat.

Cons: Sensitive hands free mic picks up too much noise.

    2000 Toyota 4Runner
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The XDMA6630 is an excellent item. It was basically easy to install; well, after the tedious connecting each individual wire. Luckily, the provided wiring diagram was easy to follow. However, the instruction manual was lacking a few required details. The instructions on how to actually set the clock, which a Crutchfield technician provided me via telephone. And, the detailed Bluetooth instructions were missing the component of actually getting the incoming audio over the speakers was missing. I got inadvertently disconnected while waiting for a Crutchfield technician to find those instructions. So, I decided to at least set the clock--which turned out to be quite easy to do, if you know which buttons to push( and when). After, I got the clock set; I decided to try and fix my Bluetooth problem. Somehow, I accidently pressed the right buttons in the right sequence this time, because I suddenly heard the time and weather recording over the speakers. This is why I gave a low rating for "ease of use".

Pros: Sound quality is good, installation was fairly easy. Once everything is installed (to include setting the clock time, linking and connecting your cell phone to Bluetooth, and getting speakers to work with Bluetooth), the usage is quite easy.

Cons: Instruction manual is very thin, thus missing several required set-up instructions.

    Nice unit for the price

I like this unit so much, I have now installed it in both of my cars. Installation in both my 1977 Miata and in my 2006 Ford Escape went flawlessly.

Pros: Pressing a single button and holding it will program 6 of the strongest signals in the area. A real help when traveling

Cons: In the Miata (a convertable), background noise makes the bluetooth phone feature of minimal use.

Has most the bells and whistles for cheap. Don't expect to blow your door speakers with this unit, but the "loud" button does make it sound impressive for only 60 watts max. A lot of features for a reasonable price.

Pros: 3 sets of FM, 1 set of AM channels. Plays almost everything you throw at it.

Cons: Needs more power to speakers. Buttons for different channel are small and on wrong side of radio wheel, which forces driver to look away to find #3 hiding behind wheel

My girlfriend has a 98 Outback Sport with just the stock cassette deck. Someone at one point hooked up a 6 disc CD player to it. She uses an iPod on a fm frequency thing and everything sounded like garbage. This unit fit perfectly and easily with the optional plug. Now she can plug th iPod right into the front with iPod controls on the deck. Looks great and was a good deal. I'm jealous cause I have an older deck back when CD players were 300 bucks for one that didn't skip that isn't nearly as cool as this 90 dollar one. Even has Bluetooth.....

Pros: Looks great, sounds great, Bluetooth

    Cons: Nothing

Pros: Not anymore to add. Very pleased with purchase.

This a great product. Fit perfectly into the DIN adapter. Installation was a breeze. Excellent value for what you pay.

Pros: Wonderful having the Bluetooth streaming for my iPhone. Don't even have to take my device out of my pocket. Automatically connects within a minute. Also has great music controls for when you decide to plug the device in. Detachable faceplate. Great button placement. Easy to use. Easy to quickly change EQ settings. Pre amp outputs with sub EQ settings.

Cons: LED is one color (blue). At peak volume using Bluetooth streaming minor humming. Nowhere near as bad as FM transmitters though. Can live with it because Bluetooth is so convenient.

    1997 Toyota Corolla
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had some trepidation buying the Dual brand because I have read that it is not the same as it once was. I also saw some reviews pointed out some flaws in this radio, particularly the Bluetooth which was my primary reason for getting a new radio because I almost always play my iPod Touch while I am driving. So far, the Bluetooth has been amazing, it connects right away and the sound is terrific. The radio was easy to install, looks great and works as advertised. I have had the same problem as other reviewers - about once a month the Bluetooth locks up and won't connect and can't be controlled with the buttons. That's when you have to pop off the face and push a toothpick into the reset hole for a few seconds. Once the light starts blinking, the unit re-sets and you can reconnect the bluetooth and it will work fine for a month or two until the next freeze. This is kind of annoying at first, but you get used to it. You also lose all of your presets when you reset the unit, but that isn't a big deal to me because I hardly ever listen to the radio unless I forget my iPod. It is also nice to have a USB port on the front so I can plug in a jump drive or charge the iPod during longer trips.

Pros: Bluetooth! USB and Aux connection on the front for mp3 connectivity. Powerful amplifier, great sound, attractive face plate, easy to install, plenty of features like power antenna hookup, subwoofer, steering wheel controls, etc.

Cons: Have to reset it once in a while when it has a brain freeze and won't respond to controls.

Crutchfield delivered w/ great quality as usual. The harness worked fine but there needed to be a better anchoring system as the receiver moves when taking the face plate off. Absolutely horrible. First I received it, had it installed, and the FM stereo reception on it is unacceptable. I live near a large radio MSA and I can pick up only three to four stations; everything else is static. Was hoping it was just a defect in the specific head unit, but when I swapped it out the second unit I received not only had FM stereo issues but the bluetooth disconnects every 3-4 minutes. Will be returning it (so yes, that's a THIRD time having the stereo ripped out of the car).

    2001 Honda Civic EX
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This low-cost unit really took care of the audio needs in an older/kids car. The Bluetooth hands free phone alone was a key feature, but couple that with Bluetooth audio streaming, simple pairing, straight forward controls (never needed to break out the manual during the install or operations) and low cost and this is a very nice upgrade over a dated original equipment head unit.

Pros: Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, simple to use, low cost, easy install.

Cons: Could use a few more watts/channel from the internal amp, and subwoofer pre-amp outputs would be nice - but for the money, I knew what I was getting and this unit delivers - am happy with the purchase.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything about this is awesome, except for one thing. It has an issue with powering off when you hit a bump while playing a CD. This is only momentary but rather than the 1 second CD skip, it takes about 5-10 seconds to resume playing the CD. The best part is the USB, I dont even have to carry my MP3 player, I just put MP3s on a flash drive and insert it. it reads directly off of it as long as the folders are set up properly artist/album/songs.mp3 that way if I forget them and they get stolen all I am out is a $15 flash drive and not a $300 player or $500+ in CDs.

Pros: good sound output. easy interface

Cons: Skipping when jarred temporarily kills power rather than just skipping the CD.

After about an hour of trying to shove the square pins in the round holes I adapted and over came. After getting everything fitted I took a trip around the block to test the radio on the local population. I would say it blew them away but the only thing that got blown were the rear stock paper speakers. On to the next adventure. Yeah!

brandon81 from New Braunfels, TX on 3/31/2013

I installed this unit in no time, but has mentioned in other reviews, the radio reception isn't all that great. I know on other sites reviewers stated the radio would sometimes not come on, only omit a red light, if that happens you have to take off the faceplate and hit the device reset button with a paper clip or something similar. The unit can control my iphone and even skips songs when listening to pandora and steaming via Bluetooth. The call quality isn't the greatest, but it does the job. All in all, for the money and feature you get, it's a great buy.

Pros: Bluetooth functioning on iphone works great, sound when on " loud" is great, tons of features

Cons: Sometimes you have to do a "reset", and radio reception is weak

Wish there was a way to quickly disconnect when a phone call comes through as the blue tooth connection is not very good on either end for phone calls. The antenna also needs improvement does not get anywhere near the reception my factory radio did. Cd player would be much better if it had an anti skip feature. It skips every time I hit a bump in the road.

I like the unit very much. It works very well and sounds great. I even like the remote control which allows more eyes free control. I found that it integrates well with my iPhone and I also like being able to play mp3 files from a USB thumb drive. Installation was a breeze.

    Not Bad, But Not Good

MikeJ from Lansing, MI on 3/24/2013

Overtime I have heard about this brand getting better and the features for the price seemed to be a good deal. I liked the idea that it came with an aux input and iPod controls. Install went very easy and everything worked great at first. First problem was weak FM station reception. Stations that had never been a problem I started losing or at very least stations came in with lots of static and interference. I replaced the antennae adapter, but still had the same issue. The second problem is the built in iPod controls. The controls aren't great and require a lot of attention to get where you want; not a good thing when driving. A couple days in I stopped using the usb iPod connection and started just using the aux input. That worked fine, but then the audio started only coming out of half the car at once. Twist the cable going into the aux input fixes this, but there is really no reason the aux input should having issue about 6 months into use.

Pros: iPod/iPhone controls, usb charges and connect iPod/iPhone, aux input

Cons: loses FM stations, CD player skips somewhat easily, shallow usb plug

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit mainly because of its relatively low cost relative to the feature set. It worked as advertised but I had two major problems. First I had issues get outgoing voice transmission with the hands free bluetooth operation. I traced it down to the 3mm audio female connector which was poorly contructed and intermittent. I first called the radio manufacturer direct and they sent me a new mic. Once I got the connector straighetened out I thought I was home free. However after that about once a week the unit would not turn on after the car was turned off. The only way I could get the radio to work was to pull it out and disconnect the cable and reconnect it. I evenually called Crutchfield and replaced it with an Alpine unit. I want to say that I could not be more pleased with how Crutchfield handled the issue - no hassle at all and very responsive. For that reason I have no hesitation at all about continuing to buy from them.

    Average quality radio replacement.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good inexpensive radio replacement. There are three reasons why I will not give it a 5 star rating though. First, the time does not remain displayed when radio is turned off. Second the sound quality is okay, but not great. I had to adjust the bass to maximum level for it to sound decent. Third reason is a whining sound typically called alternator noise whenever a DC adapter is used to power a device or for charging, even after connecting an external ground to the chasis as recommened by Crutchfield.

Pros: Nice features built in. Easy to use. Display easy to read

Cons: Time does not remain displayed when powered off. Alternator noise when using a DC power adapter. Sound quality is just so-so.

    Great unit so far

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install in 2005 Chev. Colorado, straightforward to use. Was able to reuse an old "chime" interface module and antennae interface cable that I had from installing Sony GTX200 about 5 years ago. Bluetooth paired easily with my iPhone 4S for both steaming and phone. iPod features work well when plugged in via USB port. One reviewer said that it didn't have a faceplate trim cover, but it does. Maybe the reviewer just had a package that inadvertently did not have that. I rated the "coolness" factor as a 3 simply because it's a basic receiver, and thus kinda hard to have "cool" features (but honestly, I'm not sure what else I need!)

    Pros: Bluetooth for low price!

Cons: None that I'm aware of...I've not used it a night, so I'm not sure how the lights mentioned by other reviewers will bother me. It is true that the dimming feature is only on the text/indicator window, not on the button illumination.

    Great bang for the buck

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great low cost head unit. The Bluetooth paired and worked great with my Blackberry torch. The USB and CD abilities with mp3's is awsome. The one drawback is that the panel lights are not dimmable. They are quite bright. annoying in the dark. The white panel lights where the display text is shown is dimmable but that is fine at it's brightest setting. It is all the bright blue lights around every button that is blinding and I wish it could be dimmed a bit. other than that, very cool. I did have trouble with the amp wire like one of the other reviewers. The instructions say to connect the blue wire to the blue wire. After a call to Crutchfield I found out that on my car I had to connect The blue wire to the Blue wire AND the Blue wire with a white stripe. It worked great at that point.

Pros: So many features, USB, iPod control, CD with MP3 capability, Easy Bluetooth hands free phone control.

Cons: Blinding bright blue face lighting at night time.

    Easy To Install

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am a female with no radio installing experience. I had the radio installed in 1 hour and 30 min. It was relatively easy installing the wiring harness on my 2003 Toyota Corolla. What took the most time is finding where to install the microphone for the radio which took the longest just sittibg there trying to decide where to install the microphone. In the center underneath your speedometer mount there is a place for a plastic screw. This plastic tab will come out and the microphone will fit through there too. Also, go on you tube and just search for installing a 2003 Toyota Corolla Radio. There are a ton of videos that will help you see how to take the dash apart. Review these videos, and you won't break your dash apart. Make sure to order a pack of the plastic screw things that you can connect the wires quickly. They screw and work awesome. There is 16 pieces in a pack which is all you'll need to install your wiring harness to the radio.

Pros: Ease of install, microphone for safer driving, wires are wired mostly by color, just take your time installing, the black mount that goes with the radio fits perfectly, there is no gap like the prior review says by that guy, you won't see any wires if you take your time.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A really well built radio. The sound is outstanding. The built in amplifier is enough to push the factory speakers that are in my car. The factory speakers are quality and the radio increased their value and performance. All features on this radio are quality. Since performing the installation myself, I have used the hands free calling function numerous times while driving. It gave my 2003 auto the new car feel to be able to transmit phone calls through the car audio system. GREAT PIECE OF HARDWARE!

Pros: Loaded with features, ease of use, stylish, easy to install, great value for the price.

Cons: The one one con I have is minor but it bugs me. The radio fits my car nicely. However, the radio does not come with a chassis face, so you are able to see around the face of the radio and view wires and internal components. This is minor but noticeable.

    Audio Section

MOSFET Amplifier: The Dual XDMA6630 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the XDMA6630 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the XDMA6630 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 18 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts total)

Preset EQ Curves: The Dual CD Receiver features the following preset EQ curves (Flat, Pop, Jazz, Classic, Beat, Rock, & User) to customize your music listening.

Bass &Treble: The Bass & Treble can be independently adjusted from -6 to +6. Bass & Treble settings are retained for each mode individually. Any adjustments to the Bass or Treble settings automatically cancel the current EQ curve.

Loudness: The Loudness function enhances the bass & treble frequencies at low volumes. The Loudness can be set to 1, 2, 3, or Off.

2V/4Ch Preamp Outputs: The XDMA6630 is equipped with two sets of preamp outputs (Front, Rear/Sub). The unit's rear-channel can be used as a full-range preamp output with fade control, or as a non-fading subwoofer preamp output. When used as a subwoofer preamp output the level can be adjusted independently from 0-12. Adjusting the subwoofer level to 0 turns the subwoofer output off.

Source Volume Level: The Source Volume Level control allows a gain adjustment for each audio source (Tuner, CD, Aux and USB). You can set the source volume level (+/-6dB) for each mode, depending on the relative volume of each audio source.

Program Volume: You can se the XDMA6630 to power-on to the same volume level (1-46) every time.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every button press will output a beep tone.

    Display Features

Detachable Face: The Dual CD Receiver features a detachable faceplate and comes supplied with a hard-plastic carrying case to store the receiver's face when detached. The head unit includes two face-fixing screws for use if you prefer that the unit's faceplate always stays attached.

Note: An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can also be purchased for this unit.

2-Line LCD: The XDMA6630 features a 2-line LCD with white text & black background for easy viewing during the day or nighttime.

Note: The clock can be set to stay on even when the head unit is turned off.

Power-On Message: This feature allows a "Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening" text message to be shown on the unit's LCD screen when it is powered on.

Demo Mode: You can enable or disable the unit's demonstration mode.
