You want great sound in your dash, and you want great looks. You're covered on both counts with Axxera's XDMA7600 CD receiver. It gives you plenty of ways to enjoy your music in the car, and lets you customize the colors of the display too.

Play all your music
Whether you have your tunes on an iPod®, a USB thumb drive, an SD™ card, or a CD, you can listen to them on this versatile stereo. Two USB slots — one on the front and one on a rear cable — put plenty of music choices on tap. You can plug your iPod into the front USB, and keep a thumb drive full of tunes in reserve on the rear cable, or vice-versa — it's your call.

And here's a bonus you don't see very often. This Axxera sports an SD card slot behind the fold-down face, so you can slide in a card full of music and party for hours. Plus, you've got a minijack input on the front panel that'll handle other music sources. No matter how you carry your music, the XDMA7600 can play it.

Hands-free calling and music streaming
Built-in Bluetooth® allows you to pair your compatible phone and hear your callers over your speakers. Mount the included microphone in a good spot, and your callers will hear you loud and clear. And if your mobile device can stream music wirelessly via Bluetooth, you can listen to your favorites without any connecting wires or cables.

Customize and add on
Axxera includes some useful tools for adjusting the sound in your vehicle. High- and low-pass filters let you send your speakers and subs the frequencies they were designed to handle, which lets them hit harder and run more efficiently. Then use the 3-band EQ to set the center frequency for each band and fine-tune the sound. You can customize the receiver's looks to match your car by choosing from 31 preset display colors or your own custom color.

Three sets of preamp outputs make it easier to add amps and subs when you build a complete system. You can add an HD Radio™ tuner for crystal-clear AM/FM sound — the difference is truly amazing.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (See "Accessories") to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Axxera stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Axxera, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

Extremely flexible for playing different media. Good sound quality. Easily installed. Easily understood instructions.

Pros: Plays CD's, MP and Apple files, reads from USB port and slot for SD card. Removable faceplate

Cons: Faceplate hooks could be designed to attach a bit more firmly

    Weird behavior

A lot of things only seem to half work. Bluetooth - Phone calls die after a few minutes most of the time, not sure why but the phone and radio just disconnect from each other. When you turn off the ignition: 1) It forgets there is an SD card in it, so you have to remove the face plate, eject and re-insert the card, sometimes it still won't read it after several tries, when it does read it, it starts back up where you left off though, so it remembers that much... 2) It resets the volume back to default, and if you have 'Loud' on, it is off again every time. The range on the Bluetooth is very limited, if the phone is in my pocket on the far side of my body it produces some static. It is pretty cool though all the technology built into the radio. If you want you music to be loud though you'll need an amp, this unit doesn't seem to amplify sound very much. It has a lot of features and technology, but given the issues I've had it often takes more time to get it working every time I start the car than I'd like, shouldn't have to spend 5 minutes playing with the radio all the time. I double-checked the wiring so I'm not sure that is a factor, I suppose it is worth checking once again to make triple sure the 12V constant is connected. I never tried running it with the 12V constant disconnected on purpose to see if it behaves the same way... There is a red light that flashes when the faceplate is removed which suggests the 12V is there.

Pros: Color to match your dash lighting, lots of features, can play music from a number of sources

Cons: Seems to forget a lot of settings, or that there is an SD card present, every time the ignition is switched off.

Not worth the price, if you want Bluetooth functionality

Bill from San Diego on 12/27/2011

Steaming might restart from the beginning of the track every time the car was turned off and back on.. Usually worked that way, after a stop for coffee and a stop at the gas station, I've heard the same songs three times. But again, who knows how it might work day to day.. Bluetooth "Handsfree" well this is misleading to the point of false advertising. The unit does not support voice dialing, the only thing hands free is that you can answer a call without picking up the phone. You can call up to 10 previous numbers, but wait, this list clears everytime the unit is off, so the list is only good for the trip you're on, once you get there, the next trip starts with a clean slate. This feature is uesless. If you want to make a call, pick up your phone. Not what I wanted. I returned it. several hours installing, an hour to un-install, all because it was listed has "Hands Free Calling" I'm debating to deal with Crutchfield anymore...

Pros: Liked the SD card, worked well.

Cons: Bluetooth streaming, worked but unpredictable Hands free calling is anything but.. the term might be technicall correct, but is a misrepresentation.

    Really wanted to like this...

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really wanted to like this unit. The specs for the price are outstanding, and I had high hopes. After installation, none of the features worked correctly. After a few days, the Bluetooth stopped working altogether. Crutchfield was wonderful, and they shipped me out a new unit immediately. Fortunately, the Bluetooth worked on the second unit, but, unfortunately, the call quality was horrendous. This, combined with the fact that the EQ settings (LOUD, etc.) would reset every time I turned the car off / on, lead me to return this unit and buy a JVC. I am MUCH happier with the JVC unit that I ordered.

Pros: Great feature set and competitive price

    Cons: Nothing worked correctly

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great receiver for the price. Just replaced my stock receiver in my 350Z Convertible with this one and it works as advertised. I bought it mainly for 2 reasons: 1) Built-in Bluetooth audio streaming , 2) Variable colors so that I could match the existing instrumentation panel lights (orange). Setting up the Bluetooth to my Droid X was simple and finding the correct color was easy as well. I would have given 5 stars if there was a way to display the time on the display when you are in Audio Streaming mode, all it says is "Audio Streaming". This receiver gives many ways to listen to your music including 2 USB s (Front and rear), GB SDHC card, AUX connection, I Pod connection, CD's and of course Bluetooth. I will be getting an SDHC soon to put my music on so that the names of the artists and songs will be displayed. The hands-free Bluetooth works well too, especially with the external microphone that is included. With it mounted on the rear-view mirror the people I talk to can't really tell I am using a hands-free device (no tinny sound).

    Good to go

    2005 Pontiac Vibe
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have an 05 Pontiac Vibe with Moon and Tunes. I ordered the plain install kit, not Monsoon. This was the correct choice. Installation was as smooth as it could be and quick. There is an extra plug for the factory radio that isn't used for the new radio, small 12 prong. Cons: There is a low level hiss in "standby" all modes. This is covered up when the volume gets above "3" or when the car is on. The is apparently due to a slight miss-match between factory amp and non-factory radio. There is a slight drop in reception due I suspect to the adapter for the antenna. Blame GM, not the radio. And be honest; you're not buying this to play radio stations. The bracket for adapting from double din to single is cheap plastic. But seems to work fairly well. To get the clock into 24 hour mode I had to set the tuner to Euro freq steps. Doesn't effect anything on the radio, it just hops shorter steps between frequencies, but is odd. As stated in other comments, phone book is not alphabetical. Pros: Sounds great on every mode I've tried. No problems syncing up with my phone (Droid X2). Makes good calls and plays music well. More sound tuning options than are really listed here. Most I have no clue how to set up. Going to have to do some reading. In short, if you are wanting a nice looking radio that does pretty much everything you can think of wanting for a good price, this is the ticket. Michael

    Unreliable bluetooth.

    2008 Ford F-150
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The bluetooth on this unit is best described as quirky. When making multiple calls back to back it will just drop out mid-call requiring a restart of both the phone and the radio to re-establish the connection (I'm using an iPhone 3Gs). Other times it will show that there's a connection both on the unit and the phone, but the audio won't work. Sometimes it just won't connect with my phone at all. When the phone connects and it stays connected through the whole call, 75% of the time the sound quality is fair to good. The other 25% of the time there are heavy echoes where the person on the other end of the call hears their own voice. Overall, I would recommend you find another unit because I'm sure there's better out there.

    Not quite there for Quality

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I git this one because I really wanted inexpensive BT audio streaming and love the SD card concept. Installed this without a hitch and after tweaking and figuring out the loudness settings it sounded better than expected! Now for the other shoe...I could never figure out how to KEEP the loudness setting with bluetooth streaming. I could keep it on "loud 3" when using the ipod or cd but everytime I turned off the car and got back in link BT I had to go through the menu to turn on the loudness again. So this was a pain but I was still going to keep it, until the bluetooth started freezing every once in a while. The only way to reset the stereo in any mode after a freeze was to turn the key off and back on. This made it too annoying to keep. Maybe this was a lemon but mixed with the "off" brand I decided to go with a JVC.

    Great Stereo

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great stereo. Sure its not a kenwood or an alpine. And you also aren't paying for the price of them either. Everything works great. I mainly bought this for the bluetooth and it doesn't disappoint either. People on the other end can hear me just fine, and i aswell. However, the bluetooth volume is rather low and i usually have to turn up the volume during the call. The bluetooth automatically connects to my iPhone 4 after a few seconds in being in the car. I can control my iPhone 4 directly from the head unit. I did have some problems with it disconnecting and reconnecting to my iPhone, but i all i had to do was a software restore. The colors on the display are very nice and bright and there is lots to choose from. All in all a great buy, definitely recommend.

MOSFET Amplifier: The Dual Axxera XDMA7600 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the XDMA7600 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the XDMA7600 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 18 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts total)

Preset EQ Curves: The Dual CD Receiver features the following preset EQ curves to customize your music listening - Flat, Pop, Jazz, Classic, Beat, Rock, or User.

3-Band EQ: The User Preset EQ setting allows you to adjust the unit's 3-Band EQ.

Band Selectable Center Frequency Quality Factor Level
    Bass 50, 100, or 200Hz 0.7, 1.0, 1.4, or 2.0 -6 to +6 dB
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, or 2.0 kHz 0.7, 1.0, 1.4, or 2.0 -6 to +6 dB
    Treble 5, 10, or 15 kHz 0.7, 1.0, 1.4, or 2.0 -6 to +6 dB

Loudness: The Loudness function enhances the bass & treble frequencies at low volumes. The Loudness can be set to 1, 2, 3, or Off.

2V/6Ch Preamp Outputs: The Dual Axxera XDMA7600 is equipped with three pair of 2-Volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and rear speakers are fading with high-pass crossover filters, while the subwoofer output is non-fading with a low-pass crossover filter.

    • Front/Rear Preamp Outputs (with HPF): If you do not want low frequency sounds to play from the front or rear speaker preamp outputs (or speaker outputs), you can turn on the unit's High Pass Filter. The HPF has a selectable cutoff frequency of (62, 95, 135Hz, or Off). Only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output through the speakers.
    • Subwoofer Output (with Sub Control): The unit has a pair of dedicated non-fading RCA subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter (55, 85, 120Hz, or Through), phase adjustment (normal/reverse), and output level (0-12).

Source Volume Level: The Source Volume Level control allows a gain adjustment for each audio source (Tuner, CD, Aux and USB). You can set the source volume level (+/-6dB) for each mode, depending on the relative volume of each audio source.

Program Volume: You can se the XDMA7600 to power-on to the same volume level (1-30) every time.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every button press will output a beep tone.
