The Dual XHD6430 CD receiver gives you lots of features that'll rock your road trip or commute without stretching your budget. Whether you're looking for better AM/FM sound quality and increased programming choices offered by free HD Radio® broadcasts, or you just like to listen to tunes from your iPod®, the XHD6430 makes it happen with intuitive control and ease.

Playing your tunes
Plug your iPod into the front-panel USB input, and you can browse your music library with the XHD6430's controls. This lets you stash your iPod in a secure place and keep it charged while you drive. The USB slot is also perfect for connecting thumb drives or other portable music players. The CD drive plays your favorite MP3 or WMA files, so you can load a disc with multiple albums or stacks of files and hit the road. A front-panel auxiliary input makes the XHD6430 even more versatile, providing a convenient place to plug in your portable player or a Dock & Play satellite radio.

iPod note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

iTunes® tagging
Ever hear a tune you like on the radio but couldn't remember it when you got home? With your iPod connected and an HD Radio station tuned in, you can "tag" the songs you like to buy later on iTunes. Once a song is tagged, you'll be reminded to purchase it from the iTunes store the next time you sync your iPod on your home computer.

Power and tone
Dual designed the XHD6430 to play great no matter what the source. The built-in amplifier boasts plenty of power, to improve your music's clarity and impact, and five selectable EQ curves sculpt the tone to match your car's environment. The two sets of preamp outputs allow plenty of options if you're considering adding amps and subs. The rear output can be switched to subwoofer mode, giving you control over your bass level from the driver's seat.

Talk hands-free
Have a Bluetooth phone? Add the optional Bluetooth module and you'll be able to answer and place calls on your compatible cell phone using the receiver's front panel controls.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the receiver, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

This was one of the best investments i have done! It is way cool stero and can not beat the price!!

This lasted about 2 years, my review would have been about a 4. But then, for NO reason, it would just stop working. I would have to unplug, power off, take off the battery and it would be good for another day or few days. I look at all the reviews now and realize what a piece of junk this unit is. I should have spent a few bucks more.

    Pros: nothing now

Cons: everything because it doesn't work

    Embarrassment

    Mike from Michigan on 10/31/2014

Full of features, most of which work poorly, if at all. CD player skips on moderately bumpy roads, HD radio experiences an obnoxious delay when switching between HD and non-HD signals. Audio quality is mediocre at best, and has a pathetic 2-band EQ control. USB port became loose and inoperative in short time. Aux input is noisy and has no pre-amp, so the sound quality is poor and volume is too low. After some months of use, the unit stopped turning on entirely. Frankly, Dual should be embarrassed about this product.

    Pros: Lots of features.

Cons: Most of them are poor quality and not durable.

Agree with others, this is junk

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easily the worst item I've ever bought from Crutchfield. I had the same "reset" problem that other people have had. I'm a software guy so I understand the need for a hard reset every now and then, but there should be a way to do it without removing power from the unit, which is what I keep having to do. Secondly, after only a year or so, the front panel won't click back in and stay on. I have a paper clip through the small hole in the side, to keep the front panel stuck on so the unit will play. If this brand is still out there, I advise everybody to stay away.

Unit purchased 18 months ago by daughter as replacement for factory radio in Ford Explorer. installation relatively easy. However, CD player now skips and won't play cd's. Still plays through aux input and radio. will be contacting Crutchfield for options. Warranty 1 year but this model is discontinued.

    Pros: inexpensive

Cons: poor quality build, didn't last. works better through aux input than iPod/iPhone usb input

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Any tiny bump in the road would cause a CD to skip. Sufficient RAM to bufer an entire song probably costs a dollar these days, so that's inexcusable, even if the internals were mechanically unstable. After a few months, the unit died and would no longer turn on. I realize the unit is discontinued, but I hope this rating reflects poorly on the manufacturer. Worst CD unit I've ever owned.

Pros: USB thumb drive playback was nice

Cons: Skipped on CDs and died in a few months.

I live this radio allows me to use my phone with and iPod cable and charges it at the same time. Love it all around.

Pros: Their are a bunch of pros to this radio. The sound is good, a nice bass. And have no other problems.

Cons: The radio light does not go very low. On the lowest dimming settings it is pretty bright. But live the radio. Wish the radio head that comes with the radio was blue tooth built in and not have to buy a different head.

    Mojoaudioguru from Chicago on 3/28/2013

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Surprisingly, it was very easy to install. Took less than 15 minutes, with the supplied harness and frame. The sound quality is great. It puts out the power that its rated at, (50 watts x 4), and the threshold of sound fills my full size van completely. The value was good. But the radio's removable front clip seems a little fragile. Still, it does what it was intended to do. I'm happy with it. I coupled this with 4 6x9 speakers. The original front OEM door speakers, and a pair of Pyle Pro audio tri-axials for the rear deck. Again, the sound quality is fantastic. For what it's worth, it did the trick. I'm happy. Crutchfield knowledge and helpful hints, helped out tremendously. The only one's in the industry that supplies harnesses, and materials specifically to employ an easy worry-free install.

Pros: Fragile front plate. CD skips and jumps until the memory / buffer catches up.

Cons: Does what it's intended to do with all it's features. The Blue Tooth is a nice touch and the mute button is a well needed feature.

I also only get the red circle of death. Purchased in October, I actually had it professionally installed but it has been non-working now for a while. I thought it might have been a fuse. Replaced that. It came back on for half a day and is now back to the red light around the power/volume button. Serves me right trying to save a couple bucks. Will be contacting Dual but not with high hopes from what I am reading here.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice stereo, and fit my car perfectly. Great reception, sound quality and features. However, after about 9 months, it has begun to inexplicably "lock up" on me. Like any other stereo, when I park my car and turn off the ignition, I expect to be able to use the stereo again when I get in my car. However, it has now reached the point where it locks up and will not power on about once a week. I must pop off the faceplate and do a reset. I lose all of my settings from my clock to my preset stations. If there is a good side to this it is that I use it primarily with my satellite radio, so when it locks up, I only lose about 4 or 5 local stations and my operating preferences. Now I find myself trying to find the receipt so I can get it in under warranty.

Pros: Price. Good reception, features, easy to install.

Cons: Has begun to lock up about once a week for no reason. Usually after turning off ignition and coming back later and starting car. Other reviews seem to point to this being a common problem.

I installed it after my old stereo got ripped off. I didn't want to spend too much but wanted the USB port. It installed well and worked as designed for a few months until one night it just up and died. It is getting power, the lighted ring around the volume knob is red, but it will not power on no matter what I do. I see now, that it has been discontinued. I think I know why.

    Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Not so cheap when it only gives you a few months of tunes.

    Great features for the money!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking at a similar Kenwood model that was about double the cost with the same features. Some people complain about the ease of use in their reviews. If you read the owners manual, you will have no problem programming and using many of the features. The HD will drop off as you get to the outskirts of major metropolitan areas. If you are within range, there are no issues. The iPod plug works great! The CD player has some issues displaying the track names on home-made CD's but the sound is great. Be sure to get the wire harness for easy installation. I installed this in a 1994 Lincoln Town Car as a replacement for the cassette AM/FM radio and it is HUGE impovement in sound quality and features. I did purchase the Bluetooth adapter. The sound coming into the car is great but the people on the other end say they hear a buzzing sound. Probably due to a gounding issue.

Pros: Great value for the features included HD CD iPod connectivity

Cons: Bluetooth adapter buzz CD home-made track names not displayed on radio screen.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

With the new "no cell phone in commercial vehicle" law, only bluetooth handsfree is acceptable. So I looked this up online and my emplyer bought it with the optional matching boothtooth, for my big work truck I use as a heavy equiptment field mechanic.. I am on the road a lot and need to pick up calls a lot and it was really not an option to get an in the ear bluetooth with all my mechanic issues - mainly I'm always oily, dirty, you get the picture! This is a great unit, set up great with my basic cell phone. I get in, turn on my bluetooth on my cell, the stereo knows what to do, I get a call, I push the button, the mic is good, everyone hears me. I am in a VERY NOISY TRUCK! So, I give it a A+. I didn't really review it in the "cool factor" as I guess it is cool, I dont know! So a 4 seemed like a good rating, the options are cool! It sounds good, my speakers are not great and with better speakers the whole thing will be better! I have to have t he treble all the way up for the bluetooth - again, better speakers are needed and I will be getting to those. As a sidenote, liked this unit so much, bought another one for my 2002 Dodge Pick up and will install it soon and add another review if anything else should be noteworthy.

Pros: Whole unit functions great with bluetooth adapter and sound is great, easy, no fail, big truck likes it!

Cons: None really, for the price it would be dumb to complain.

Installed unit in a Honda CRV. Had the same problem as another reviewer: After about a week of use, the radio would not turn on. The on button was lit but the radio itself would not turn on. Trouble shooting guide does not seem to get at the problem. Will have to take unit out presumably to see if it's the fuse. (It's not the under dash radio fuse - that one is fine.) Connected black cable to black cable (ground) with the indicated wire connector pack that I bought with the radio. Perhaps the radio black wire should have gone to chassis instead.

Pros: Really enjoyed it when it was working.

    Cons: Stopped working

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had this for about 2 months and mostly use it for listening to the radio and playing MP3's from a USB memory stick. For the money, it's a great buy. It has plenty of power for my 2002 Ford Sport Trac with factory speakers and factory subwoofer.

Pros: Has USB input and HD radio. You can take a 2, 8, 10 Gb or larger USB drive, load it with thousands of songs, set it to random and you'll never have to worry about a scratched CD again.

Cons: Radio reception is lacking. My factory radio was much better. When using HD radio, the FM stations often will have moments of signal drop, where the audio will be echoed. When set to HD and listening to AM, it's unlistenable. There are frequent electronic interference sounds that are difficult to describe, but will have you reaching for the power button the moment it happens. Once HD is disabled, the problem goes away. I would actually prefer an SD card input, but the USB suffices.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this for my mother-in-law, she is still getting used to functions, but she's liking it so far, USB input lets her leave her ipod at home, and 3.5mm allows her to use her phone trough the stereo. Loves that part. Sound-wise does sound good even with stock speakers which I'm replacing next. Remote has just enough buttons so you can learn them quickly without having to take yours eyes off the road, or pumping the volume while seating outside of car.

Pros: USB, 3.5mm, ipod connectivity, bright clear display, remote control

Cons: Buttons are a little hard to read at first, but getting used to them should be no problem.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit plays well. I'm not sure why, but most of the time when turning on the ignition, the unit powers up but no sound. You have to select a station other than the one it's already on to get it to play. It looks attractive in my Chevy Blazer. A flash drive was readable and worked the best. A CD of mp3s made on my desktop would not play (ERROR 2). A CD burned on a former computer did play successfully, but skipped in places. I have observed no skipping when playing a commercial CD.

Pros: The sound quality is acceptable. The large number of presets (18) makes it nice when going on regular out of town trips. Display options are good. Not a fancy display, but for the price, it's great!

Cons: Some CDs of mp3 files tend to skip, even while the vehicle is not in motion. CDs with mp3s burned on a desktop DVD don't seem to play. Installation was a bit more involved that originally thought.

Was a bit weary of the price being so cheap. Once I got it installed, it made my 88 Jeep YJ speakers actually sound semi decent. I love the USB port, I plug my iPhone in and let it charge while listening to music. Also if I have my GPS going on my phone, it will interrupt the music and give directions through the speakers. The removable face also proves to be useful, it is nice to have the option of making it look like nothing is there, especially when you on a older jeep.

I bought 2 of these radios. One for myself and one for a friend. I only listem to am talk or home made mp3 cd's. After only 2 weeks of use on 8/2/12 the radio would not turn on. The on button was lit but the radio would not turn on. Reading the truble shooting pages no mention was made of the problem. The manual did say that with the ignition off you could push the eject button and the cd would eject. I did that and with the ignition on and the cd removed the radio could be turned on and played cds like nothing ever hapened. On 8/3/12 I told my friend, who only listens to the mp3 how to fix her radio should the same thing happen to her. 8/4/12 my friend tells me her radio did the same thing but her eject button would not go in. She had never ejected her mp3 cd from the first time she put it in {3 weeks} so we do not know if it ever worked or not. She is going to the installer to get it checked in a few days. Hope other piople have better luck..

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit to replace the dead radio in my 1972 VW convertible. Hey: new school meets old cool, right? It only took less than 30 minutes of modding to get this unit to fit. The unit works great. Instructions are clear, functionality is top-notch. I was delighted with the price (open box and all). And if anything goes wrong, I know Crutchfield's got my back. All in all, a solid unit.

Pros: Ease of installation, superb documentation, great supporting hardware. USB & audio-in available from front panel. Small size.

Cons: Controls are a bit non-traditional for my taste--the volume, for instance, is in the middle of the unit, rather than towards the left side where most companies put it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this in my Toyota Tacoma. Mainly picked this because of the USB reader and the ability to play MP3 CDs. After a few days it seemed to be 'dead' except the power button still had a red glow. I removed the radio and checked my connections. It started working. Happened again a few days later. I came back here and read the other reviews saying that this tends to happen and the solution is to press the reset button under the faceplate. I thought about sending the radio back and getting a different unit but after looking at the other radios in my budget, I decided that this is the one I wanted, regardless of the 'glitch.' Problem hasn't reoccurred. I suspect the problem is either caused by heat or something to do with the USB feature. I don't have the bluetooth accessory or an iPod but might get them in the future now that I've decided to keep the radio.

Pros: Sounds good. Ability to play MP3s on disk or USB drive. More features that I may use in the future.

Cons: Had to be reset twice in the first week after I got it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had the two previous generations of Dual Single DIN HD stereos. With each generation the operation got better, but even with the previous one the build quality was lacking and it was a simple mechanical failure of a switch on the faceplate that did it in. On this version the build quality is noticably better, I expect years of good service. The HD performance is MUCH better, and the IPOD and Data Stick file navigation show much improvement. For the money I'd say you likely won't go wrong, and in very many ways it is worlds better than the entry level HD offering from Pioneer - but to be fair that Pioneer deck is a train wreck.

Pros: Better HD performance, data file navigation. Easy to use. Very inexpensive.

Cons: Buid quality not as good as many others.

I was really happy with this purchase, both the radio and the awesome Crutchfield service. Crutchfield's whole system is great - website, ordering, shipping, tech support- the best! The radio worked really well and you cannot get another unit with even close to the features for less. Somehow Crutchfield has much better prices than everyone. All the features worked well. I really liked how the HD radio and iPod support worked. Sound quality was not amazing but still good esp if you consider how this radio has basically every cool feature. Only problem I had was that the CD was skipping (the anti-skip buffer was not working). I called Tech Support and they told me to push the reset button on the radio and the problem was solved. Highly recommend Crutchfield and this radio.

Pros: Lots of features. Crutchfield support. Great price.

Cons: Display a little bright even when turned down to low and a technical glitch with cd skipping which was resolved.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Add car stereos to the list of electronic items that have greatly decreased in price over the years. I was looking for an inexpensive radio to replace the factory cassette player in a 20 year old car that died. This more than fits the bill. Many features, HD radio, fairly easy to use, better quality - more powerful sound. I just put up with the factory radio and bad speakers had no plans to replace them until the radio quit. The only annoyance so far in this unit is that I cannot leave a disc in the CD player and listen to another sound source.

Pros: HD radio, relatively easy to use, inexpensive, not bad looking, powerful sound

Cons: Cannot listen to another sound source while a CD is in the player.

Great deck for the price. Installed in an 88 Jeep Wrangler with ease. The HD stations are great in my area, also nice because my antenna broke off about 3 years ago. I would not recommend the in-dash kit the offer with this unit - 142FJ1550MFord/Mercury/Chrysler 1986-Up Kit E/S. It was inexpensive, but in my opinion a waste of money. Poorly made and does not support the head unit at all. I used a top mount bracket that I had from my previous install, just had to modify slightly to get screws into the new head unit. All and all I am very happy with the sound quality and options. USB for Ipod/Iphone which you can control with the remote and it charges the device. Nice blue illumination display and song info.

Pros: Great Price. Good Features Easy Install Descent Quality build Good Look Detachable Face

    Trouble with firmware lock-ups

MikeG from Lake Zurich,IL on 8/29/2012

Problems with the firmware are an issue. I'm looking for a fix now. Unit started locking up every few days about a week ago. Unit worked OK the first three weeks although it does have an issue with some USB folders/files with music on them. On 2 larger drives that had GB+ of music it just locked up. I placed a smaller amount of music data (maybe 100-200 songs) in the root directory of a clean USB drive and it read the songs OK. Now though it is having issues locking up and you need to pop the cover off and reset the unit which clears all the radio settings. I'm not sure if this started happening because we began to try other "functions" and settings. We are looking for a solution now. I will post an update if these get fixed. Also the HD radio seems to have some trouble locking/staying locked on HD stations. I don't have a reference point on how problematic this is compare to others because this is my first HD radio.

Pros: Cool radio with lots of features for the $.

Cons: Lockups and resets are annoying and erases/clears all your AM/FM station presets.

First of all I have to say, I would NEVER do business with anyone else but Crutchfield for my car audio needs. They have never let me down! I installed this radio along with two 5 1/4 JBL 2 way speakers in my front doors in my 2002 Silverado, all in all, took almost 2 hours. Way easier than I thougt it would be, but having all the materials needed is always a plus. This is my second Dual in-dash receiver and for the price (of both I've owned), I am really impressed with the overall quality of sound. I just put this one in tonight so I need to give it some time, but I am happy already. For less than $150, I got a radio and speakers which woke my truck up! I've already played with it quite a bit and find it very easy to use and navigate through. I bought it because of price and the fact that others with USB ports all seemed to be more expensive and I just needed something cheap to replace my non-working factory unit. For $70, I'm a little skeptical about the build quality, but I will give it time.

Pros: Sounds great, easy to use, looks good installed in the dash... USB port AND Aux port up front.

    Cons: None yet.

Paired it with a couple of cheap pioneer speakers, and this setup is more than sufficient for my little truck. Great price for all the features!

Pros: Price. Easy to use, even while driving. Remote is actually useful. Usb port means I get to keep a LOT of music plugged in with a 32GB thumb drive. Looks nice without being too bright or visually distracting

Needed a replacement for a 14 year old car radio that had iPod/MP3 support. Couldn't spend much but wanted my daughter to feel good about her car. With included wiring harness the installation was easy (not my first Crutchfield car radio purchase). Sound is great after I replaced the front speakers(one had an intermittent open). My daughter is now ready to drive the car until it's more economical to replace than repair and my wife wants to replace the radio in her car too. Crutchfield support was great in recommending speakers when I told them my speaker budget was $50. I was really a bit surprised that I could meet my budget and still be very satisfied with the sound (I should say that pumping the windows in and out was not my objective)

Pros: The product met my price/quality range. iPod charging is a plus. HD radio is a big bonus too.

Cons: Limited character display length of the display doesn't match the iPod so we use the 1/8" MP3 input and the iPod's control. If you don't need to see what's playing the iPod USB input is fine.

This was an amazing deal! The unit itself works so well and really brings out the power in my speakers. I was planning on replacing my entire system in my '98 Buick, but after seeing how well the stock speakers really work, I have decided I just need a couple subs. Excellent service by Crutchfield; from the advisor to the shipping and handling. I have no complaints at all with Crutchfield's service. They should be a model for other online/catalogue businesses. Now to the stereo! The DUALXHD6430 is remarkable. For the price point, you can't help but smile when you hear it for the first time. What "tickled" me the most was the abundant array of features for the money. I got this to replace a stock 6 CD changer in my 2003 Mustang which has the Mach stereo system. I did all of the rewiring fine on the new harnesses that Crutchfield included. Crutchfield did a wonderful job... The stereo itself did not however. The Mach system is a 6 speaker rig. This isn't the best fit. I had trouble with not only the CD player but also the USB function with my iPod. It says it supports my iPod, but once I plug it in, nothing happens. Then randomly 5 minutes later, it will do as supposed to and say "READING." Except it said reading for over 10 minutes, and never could play my music. I tried 3 different iPod models and two different cords that work fine otherwise. Nothing. The CD player will randomly say error or eject the CD. I have only had this installed for a week. Not long enough for something to go wrong. Everything is wired and mounted correctly. Also, it may be a problem with my amp setup, but it seemed to refuse to be grounded. I tried different grounding scenarios, and yet at low volumes I can hear a static-like sound. Not happy with this product. Spend more money and get something nicer that will please you.

Pros: Several functions.. however they do not all work as supposed to. Looks pretty good. That's about it.

Cons: Grounding problems - Static "hum" CD errors Will not actually play iPod via USB function Blue lighting is EXTREMELY bright. hurts eyes during night driving, will not dim. Mediocre sound quality

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'll start off by saying that Crutchfield is awesome and provided a hassle-free return process. This unit worked well for a while and sounded great. I loved having the HD radio and ipod USB port. However once the summer hit, the holes where the hooks hold the faceplate on melted off and broke. Not just once, but twice! There were a few other reviews that mentioned the faceplate falling off. That part of the faceplate is thin, cheap plastic and the spring simply puts too much pressure on the face plate, pushing it away from the head unit with unnecessary force which tears and breaks the plastic once it gets hot and pliable. I chalked it up to a defective unit so Crutchfield quickly sent me a new one. Installed it and a week later the same thing happened. Sent it back for good and ordered a JVC. I'm giving it 2 stars rather than 1 since it should work great in colder climates or in a car that has better ventilation behind where the head unit will be installed. I actually have it installed in my Matrix and it still works fine (probably just jinxed myself...), the Santa Fe is much more cramped behind the dash.

Pros: Lots of features at a low price point

Cons: the faceplate is poorly designed and doesn't withstand fairly normal car temperatures for a southern climate

SteveY from San Jose, CA on 6/18/2012

Purchased this unit to upgrade factory radio/cassette in my son's '96 Camry. Unit was pretty easy to install - would say it's mandatory to buy the Crutchfield wiring harness for the specific make/model if it's not provided free at the price point if you want an easy install. Otherwise you'd need the wiring diagram/schematic for your factory unit (who has that?) and they don't seem to be readily available, even on the "Internets". Anyway, upshot is that this is an unbelievable upgrade from the factory unit in both sound and functionality. The controls are pretty simple despite the feature-rich functionality and the remote is nice so you aren't distracted from the road if you're operating the unit at all. I would say that the only negative I've been able to come up with is that if your car has a power antenna, it will be engaged whenever the unit is on - even if you're just using the iPod/USB or Aux inputs. At this price point, they just didn't add a trigger 12v switch for the antenna for only when the radio is on. Other than this relatively minor issue, the XHD6430 is an upgrade that is well worth the money and time.

Pros: Great sound, easy controls, iPod play while charging, aux input, bluetooth, iTunes tagging, etc, etc...

Cons: Power antenna (if you have one) is engaged whenever the unit is on, not just when the radio is on, but I consider this a minor issue at this price point. Positives completely overwhelm minor issues.

Unbelievable price for feature rich head unit.

This was bought as an after thought for my shop to replace a old car stereo that was dying. The Dual winds up in my F-150 because the more expense unit I bought for it sucks eggs! This Dual is easy to use and sounds great! The install kit for the other unit fit the Dual perfectly. Looks good in the dash, and has room for CDs right under unit, nice touch.

    Pros: Ease of use.Sound.

    Cons: 3 level dimmer.

First and foremost, KUDOS to Crutchfield's: Cust Service was awesome and very helpful in picking this product, delivery within 2 days, every piece needed for installation was included as per your recommendations, installation (my first) was easy and took much less time than I anticipated. My daughter is using the radio and is very pleased. Still putting it all together with programming and all that the radio has to offer. Off to good start.

Pros: Radio is all that we expected. Cruchfield's is what every company in this company needs to be or become!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still learning about how to use my Dual 6340 but I really appreciate the Bluetooth while I am driving my 5spd because before it was quite an unsafe juggling, driving with the knees experience! The 6340 seems to have more than ample power to drive my Bose indoor/outdoor speakers. I generally listen to audio books while I drive and the signal is exceptionally clear!

Pros: ample power and clear signal

Cons: perhaps Dual, or Crutchfield, could develop a CD that could be listened to regarding the operation of the product.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I haven't had this item long enough to be sure that the quality is really good. However, it seems to be except for the oddly made volume knob which is rather floppy, but it seems to be by design. It has a lot of features! Unfortunately, it requires a bit too much "hands on" action for someone driving down the road. you have to press and hold buttons to access certain features and then press other buttons to modify, etc. I like a straight forward "seek","scan","volume","bass","treble" and "loudness" button. It does have an easy volume and scan, but the rest have to be accessed through menus. Overall, I like it because it has a lot of features for the price.

Pros: high and low level outputs, to directly connect speakers or to use an external amp. usb plug on front as well as a mini jack. lots of station presets. HD radio. Bolted in my Toyota without additional adaptors-a plus since Crutchfield dosen't offer free adaptors at this price.

Cons: Have to access many things through menus-a down side of having too many features, but we already have too many driving distractions. I seldom use "scan" (which is easy to access) because it takes too long to find a station and I have to listen to all the garbage while I wait, but I find the seek feature (hold the station advance button for more than one second-but not too much longer or it will pass up all the stations) not very driver friendly.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is way better than I ever thought it could be for the price. The special price that I got it at, $69.99, can't be beat for the quality of sound that I am now hearing out of my speakers. HD radio is wonderful and being able to use my smartphone two different ways is great. I can either plug in my phone using the AUX 3.5mm plug or I can plug it into the USB port and use the remote, which was also a little surprise when I opened the box, to control what I want to hear. I am very happy with my purchase and since I self-installed, having Crutchfield available to call for support was perfect. The install of this unit was actually quite easy, just not the removal of my old radio. Having an old 1990 GMC truck, the older parts were a little difficult to remove since they were in there for so long. In the end, a few pointers from Crutchfield support and hard work and perseverance, we got it all out and it went smoothly after that. One thing I love about this company and their website is that when you choose an item and add it to your cart, more options of things that will make the install of your new item come up and you aren't guessing what you might need. It is very simple and pay so little for the extra parts. Overall, I am very happy with the whole experience.

Replaced my 13 year old car CD radio with this one, myself. Great value for features and style. Not sure HD radio is a valuable feature since the sound quality in digital mode is iffy, not always better than FM standard. Ipod interface with Classic is more-or-less manual. I like having an old-fashioned, round volume knob again. Still using old speakers, so opinion of sound quality, which seems fine, is neutral.

When i bought the car stereo it sounded it great and it did everything I wanted to do with it for my ipod touch . Yesterday for some reason it was not working . There was no display. It would not turn on or anything. I rushed to the installer to see what happened to it . They told me that so many people come in with that stereo and have to reset it. For your learning knowlege if it ever stops working lift up the face plate and there is a very small hole and there is a button you press and it all starts working again. Then you will have to reset all your stations again. Great car stereo in sound, performance but if i have to reset this one more time and have to have best buy install another one im going to be mad.

Pros: Great Stereo sound, easy to use, Love the HD Radio , Works Great with My IPOD, Have not tried my smartphone yet with a auxillary port. Im hoping i can get Radio Disney on there for the kids.

Finding a replacement for a 15 year old foreign car was difficult. Installing wasn't too bad considering. I read the directions several times and followed them to a T. I soldered the lines together, only to find out that I could have used some crimping connectors. When I installed into the console, it was a pretty snug fit, nicely on the heighth and width, but also on the depth. With the amount of wires now, I had to crunch things together. As far as the radio is concerned, it is nice. Good volume and sound. I'm mostly dissappointed in the radio signal strength. I can't get any HD radio stations, so I'm going to pull it out and verify that the antenna connection is still in tact. I'd love to use the Tag feature, but without HD, I cannot receive any song information. Granted I listen to some Mike & Mike in the morning (AM station), but other times I like to jam out a bit. The one thing I don't like is that sometimes when I start the unit up, it does not play any sound even though it is tuned to a station. I have to change to a different preset and switch back to get music to come out of the speakers. Overall, coming from a radio that barely worked, this is a good inexpensive alternative. Really like it and it does have a WOW factor.

Pros: Removable, ease of use and sounds great

Cons: Have to change to a different radio station upon initial startup.

    DUAL XHD6430 Head Unit

    DaveS from CT on 5/3/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I Installed this head Unit as an economical replacement for the factory CD/Radio in a '99 Honda Accord EX Sedan with the 6 speaker stock configuration. It is a great replacement and an upgrade in power and sound. The only more time consuming thing that had to be done is solder or solderlessly crimp the wireharness to the supplied connector adaptor. (I soldered and heat shrunk each connection to make it neat.) but this is standard for anyone doing an install. The unit has all the features one would realistically use. I can play my iPod Nano and control it from the head unit or plug in my old Sony mini disc player through the aux input. It can take a Steering wheel volume control and BlueTooth adaptor . But what I liked most about this head unit is that it picks up HD radio, ( albiet where the stations are strong), and I can control My Subwoofer output and the scource level inputs. Of course once I installed it , (which was a snap with the mounting kit.), I couldn't leave it alone so I added a DUAL 4 channel amp run in 2 channel mode. This gives you signal to all 4 channels. ( you do lose fader controls because the second set of preamp outputs go to the Sub But.this is of no consequence ) . I also replaced the Front speakers with Kenwood 6.5 inchers.these installed easily with no modification but I did add Dynamat at the opening and inside the car door. The rear speakers were replaced with Dual Audio 6x9's . Overall an excellent value.

Pros: Excellent sound and Many features for a head unit at this price, HD radio, iPod,Aux input , Bluetooth, and steering wheel volume control capability. I have enough control over input and output volumes as well as Sub Woofer, bass and treble control. Comes with a remote control and the unit lights up Blue.

Cons: Spring loaded clasp for the removable face came loose. Menu dial seems a bit flimsy, however time will tell whether that is an actual issue.

The HD radio stations have very good sound quality. I would recommend this as a good value upgrade/replacement for the stock radio.

    Good Unit, Skimpy instructions

Toad from Dallas, Texas on 4/17/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought two of these for my wife so she could have the same unit in both our cars to use her Ipod mini and she wouldn't have to learn two systems. That worked out well, and it is a very nice unit for the money. My quibbles are that the instructions were very limited and that it wouldn't read my Ipod classic. I was really excited to read all of the positive reviews on this site concerning how easy Crutchfield's instructions were to follow to install their stereos. I'm fairly handy, but it took longer than it needed to for me to work it out. I found the drawings were both inadequately labeled and didn't show enough different views of the unit. And there were several wires that were superfluous but weren't marked as such, luckily the Crutchfield techs were great at talking me through it. True, once you know how, it is a snap, but if it's the first install you've ever done, you can be in for some frustration. As for not reading my Ipod classic, it does read my wife's Ipod mini, so it's probably my Ipod. But my Ipod did work on the factory stereo that I replaced with the Dual unit. Frustrating. When I called Dual, a snotty tech guy said, "There's nothing we can do about it, just send it back to Crutchfield". When I called Crutchfield, the tech guy said they get this problem a lot and to hit the reset on the Ipod and under the faceplate of the Dual. I did this multiple times, but still no joy. At least the Crutchfield tech gave me something to try.

Pros: Has everything we wanted at a great price and plays my wife's Ipod (the original intent)

Cons: Poor install instructions, but doable if you've got the time. Won't play my particular Ipod Classic (that it states it should be able to play).

All the features of higher priced radios.

I was skeptical about buying a Duel brand but, my JVC had a pre-amp issue within a year. This was actually for my wife's Trooper. She wanted a blue face and almost all are red now. Figured I'd take a gamble and glad I did. Seems solid. Only gave 4 stars for build as I am not sure how it will hold up. All of the settings are straight forward. Plenty of pre-sets. I love the fact that you can control an iPod through the unit. The specs didn't list some of the models I own but, they all played fine. It really looks cool. It's a bright blue but you can control the brightness with the dimmer. My wife thought it was cute that it says Good Morning, afternoon when turning on. The bass output is excellent. I have a small 10" box and it thumps like the bigger ones. The fact that I got this for so cheap and it comes with all of the features and a remote makes this an excellent purchase. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to upgrade a stock radio or replace an older model.

Pros: Easy to set up. Bright display. Buttons are laid out well. Lots of options I.E. iPod, USB, aux, CD, MP3, remote.

Cons: None yet, hope it lasts.

    1996 Honda Accord LX
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There's a LOT to like with this unit, especially for a modest price. My only big complaint so far is the radio reception quality-which is not as good as my factory radio-and can be marginal on AM stations....good thing I only need AM radio for an occasional traffic or weather report. When FM stations can be tuned with the HD carrier, they sound awesome and the iTunes tagging is sweet. Some stations drift between HD and analog, although the transition is not too bad. Additional HD stations (HD 2 & 3) are a nice option.....when they can be tuned reliably. The local/distant tuner sensitivity switch seems to have no impact on radio reception performance. CD-R/W disc player works fine and doesn't seem susceptible to road bumps so far. AUX input is nice to have for flexibility. Overall audio quality and amplifier power seem fine to me. Artist/album/song navigation of my iTouch (G2) music library and mp3 files on a CD-R/W is easy and fast...love that functionality! Programming and set-up menus are simple and logical. Radio pre-sets and other control buttons are sort of small....at least compared with my old head unit, but I'm getting used to the new "feel." Behind the removable face panel is a red L.E.D. light which strobes when the face is removed and appears like an alarm warning light...so that's a nice bonus. Cruchfield was great-I ordered on Monday night and got the unit, well packed, on Wednesday. I had a few installation challenges but figured things out.

Pros: The Dual XHD6430 is a great value. Navigation, playback and charging of my iPOD Touch (Gen2) is very nice. You get tons of versatility between analog/HD radio & HD2/3 carriers, AUX & USB inputs, pre-amp/sub outputs, Blue tooth, iPOD power and control plus CD-R/W player and IR remote control unit. Set-up and operational programming are flexible and simple. iTunes tagging and HD radio display of station and song info is cool. Input level matching, and AUX input skip set-up options are nice.

Cons: So far, radio tuner performance is NOT great-especially on AM, but who needs AM radio when you have so many other options on this unit...If you listen to a lot of sports on AM, this could be a deal breaker. Like so many new head units, this unit has small control buttons compared with my basic factory radio. Blue panel lighting doesn't match my green dashboard color scheme. No dimmer circuit available for face lighting.

It actually does look better then the image on the site, but what i have read so far for the reviews of the bass being to low was right. I may try consider getting better speakers because i do have an old 1992 BMW. The wire hardness for this Dual XHD6430 work out great putting together, by no wires are needed to be cut from the stock radio wires. Just link the radio wires and extra BMW Wire Harness that you order, put them together, and that's it.

Pros: Cheap at its best in Quality. If your saving money and wanted an item to fit for your iphone or usb stick, grab this item quick!

Cons: Bass, I NEED MORE BASS!!! Note: you cant change music on your phone 4 when connected with the wire to the radio. Only can change it on radio system

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was my first headunit to replace myself. After reading the reviews on Crutchfields for a couple years on how easy you make it to do it yourself, I decided to finally do it. The din tools did not work to remove my old headunit in my 2004 Mazda Tribute. They would just slide in and out without clicking on anything. Call to Customer Service on a Saturday morning resulted in being on hold several minutes with 17 callers ahead of me. Per Rep, they were short staffed and busy like the day after Christmas. The Rep was not much help and even stated he hadn't seen the din tools in over a year. He suggested I try using a thick hanger instead. I tried thicker nails hammered in but old stereo wasn't budging. Since I was going to throw away the old unit anyway, I took a flat head screw driver to the sides of the old unit to pry it out. After removing it, I discovered it had these metal prongs that stuck out on the sides and no way were the din tools or hanger going to work. The new stereo was easy to put in per provided instructions. I bought the little connectors to put the wires together with and SO happy I opted to buy those. Added the bluetooth and just threaded the wire from the visor down the post and in through a cubby hole through the back of the dash attached to a coat hanger and out the stereo hole. LOVE the DUAL XHD 6430. Without replacing any of the 7 stock speakers, it sounds GREAT!! Easy to program by following the manual.

Pros: Sounds GREAT!!! Easy to install new unit. LOVE the preset buttons. Bluetooth links as soon as I get in and turn it on. Calls are clear on both ends with the mike on the visor per instructions. You can easily set the EQ to user as you like it. Turning on the 'LOUD' is REALLY loud and great for blues music. The doors were vibrating. I imagine it would be even better with an amp. Very happy and would purchase again.

Cons: Only things I can think of and not sure it's an issue with the stereo is some of the HD stations cut out of range and goes back to analog which isn't as clear. These are stations that are broadcast from Seattle and I live in Olympia 30 miles or so away. It is bright at night. The LCD panel that shows the station and/or time is adjustable but the rest of the unit around the volume and buttons is not and is a bright blue at night. Volume button stays on red when turned off which is nice.

WOW factor for the price and options :-)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I loved everything about the unit especially for the price! Does that sound a bit wild? Not for me. I have had many head units over the years, mostly Pioneer and Alpine. Comparing the DUAL to the other units I am quite happy with what I got from Crutchfield for this price. On that subject I have to say WOW!!!!! I ordered it on a Tuesday evening and got it Friday afternoon. I got free shipping, free wiring and free adapter. Opened the box at 3:30PM and done at 6PM. There instructions were spot on! Crutchfield is one classy outfit with awesome products. Been ordering from them for years :-) Back to the radio. It was easy to program. Some one stated that the CDs skip when you hit potholes. I loaded in a CD and went over several old dirt roads in my old pickup with no problems. People have also stated in the reviews that going from analog to HD there is a space while it buffers. I have NOT seen that at all and the transition seems to be smooth to me. USB to my iPod works awesome and auxiliary input to my phone and GPS work very good too. I am ordering the Bluetooth phone adapter to giver that a try sense everything else works good. I'll give it a try :-) For me, you can't go wrong purchasing this unit. Give it a try. I'll update if I run in to any problems or any other good news. Happy Holidays all :-)

Pros: Love the HD. Where I live there is some stations that play Christmas music for a month. I switched to HD2 and there was all of the music that would normally be there. This gives me a lot mor options. Very clean reception where I live and travel. The radio is laid out real nice if you ask me. Easy to find buttons by feel when driving. Everything works as stated and has so many features that you would normally expect in high end head units. Feels well built.

Cons: Nothing! Everything for this price and works very good. How can you find anything bad with that. Not the best unit but man it is good for what you get!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to replace the factory stereo, & this one had nearly all of my dream features for a very attractive price. I'm not a fanatical audiophile, especially in a noisy car, so I wasn't terribly concerned with the technical details. The iPod controls don't work with my iPod Photo. While not listed in the specs, it does fall into the years of other models listed. The iPod controls are pretty primitive anyway when used with an old Nano, iPhone 4 & iPod Touch 4. It's easier & more functional to use the AUX port & control the music from the device itself. HD at this price is nice. The sound is noticeably different when the HD kicks in on an analog station. There is a silent delay when connecting to an HD-only station. Haven't had issues with the HD reception going in & out. Artist & song title are displayed on all HD stations if the info is available. However, sometimes this radio scrolls the info, & sometimes it doesn't, despite the display being set to scroll. This radio does not have separate FM or AM buttons so if you're on station 2-1 & want to listen to station 1-1 you have to press the Band button to cycle through the next "page" of FM stations & 2 "pages" of AM stations to get back around to it. Does anyone really have 18 FM & 12 AM stations that they listen to enough to have them preset? I guess with HD there are more to choose from, but it still seems a bit like overkill; especially for AM. Overall, it's a decent replacement, given the features & price point.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the second Dual XHD6430 I've purchased from Crutchfield. The first one went into my 2001 S10 after the factory radio went bad. The installation process was very well documented and simple to implement. The adaptor was spot on. The second one is being installed into my 1973 Porsche 914 that I've restored and converted into an Electric Vehicle (EV). I really like the XHD6430. Its very simple to use and automatically picks up the HD stations. I also just plug-in my MP3 player and it displays the artist/song automatically as well. I added an electric antenna to the 914 and the XHD6430 automatically powers the antenna up when turned on and powers it down when turned off. Haven't used the CD player in either vehicle but glad its there if I ever need it. This product is attractively priced and the Dual products seem to be very well made. I decided to purchase a Dual system after one of my neighbors purchased a Dual radio for his golf cart and I was quite impressed with its quality and features. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchases.

PROS: The only unit available in the market that has all its feature for this price. It has an okay design and it does what it says it does. CONS: The "software" or menu system is not very user friendly, complicated to get to it and even more to memorize how to use it, but if you have the user manuel you get through just fine. In my opinion the display light (blue) is too bright, its says that it can be dimmed, but i have not been able to access that option in the unit. The buttons setup is a bit wierd and needs time getting used to, but i'm sure after a few weeks i'll get the hang of it (not really a "con"). #1 CON in my opinion, and really the only real issue i have found so far, its ESP, is worst then pathetic. Id say 0% ESP ability. So if you have a car with a hard suspension (like mine) where you feel pretty much any pebble on the road you might want to think twice on this. BUT... because it has a USB/AUX option, i really dont plan on using the CD player at all. So...thats fixes that issue. OVERALL: I really like this unit (so far, 1.5 weeks in) , i'm not a big fan of show off units, so all i want is for it to play my music and thats it. So...it does that really great!!!!

I'm not a stereo freak; but do listen to radio often for music and sports. been wanting to get a new stereo for years as the reception of factory installed 2005 sonata wasn't too good. Got to the point where am stations I use to pick up 200 miles away had a lot of static less than 30 miles away. SO... Happy Fathers day. Wow! what a difference. the free HD stations on the fm are nice and clear. am is night and day from what I had. I added the bluetooth option which is very cool also. glad I have it. I do more conf. calls in the car now. needed to call support to figure out how to run cable for BT to visor. they were great. The ipod tagging is also very cool. I like a wide range of music; but can't tell you the name of a song or artist; so tagging a tune I like and getting it on my ipod later is perfect for me. Just kicking myself for waiting all these years.

I picked this for flexibility w/o lots of $$ Does Aux, iPod, USB & BT & most CD formats + HD radio I give it 4 of 5 stars for features, quality, sound & power. Needs help! 1) HD radio - when HD signal drops on a station that does HD & analog, it switches to analog to keep the station, transition not smooth & very noticeable Would be ok if it stayed one way, but keeps switching back & forth on back roads. Nice to disable HD for this 2) BT is great for calls, but phones w/GPS, - can't do music & directions 3) Power The unit says 200W, fine print is 17W per channel 17 X 4= 68 - missing 132W ? My VW w/200W blows this away - need amp and sub now :(

The unit works great. I bought it to replace the factory unit in a work vehicle. I wanted a unit with the front auxilary port to connect a satelite radio. This unit fit my budget perfectly and hit my 'must have' list to boot! Front-panel USB and Aux input were my biggest needs, the HD radio was a pleasant surprise - even though I do most of my driving quite a distance from the city, I get great HD reception just about everywhere I drive. An unexpected bonus was 'by source' audio level adjustments, which really helps the Aux input volume (mostly from a Kindle) be consistent with the CD and FM volume - this had been a problem with the receiver in my other car. Great unit at a great price!

I ordered the stereo because it was one of the few that had the built in HD radio. I like it so far. That's not to say I wouldn't change things if I could, but so far everything is working well and the sound is much better than that from my factory deck. Cons: HD radio takes a while to lock on to a station. Powering off takes a few seconds of pressing the power button. Bluetooth system is very bare bones. Pros: Good sound. Decent quality. I've had this radio for two months. In the two months, I have removed the detachable face seven times... not for security reasons, but to press the little reset button. It just locks up and the only way to fix it is the reset button. Now the detachable face plate won't stay on!!! Apparently the seven removals and reinstallations have taken their toll on the little plastic holes that hold the unit together. Another thing I don't like: While listening to the radio, if you get a call using the BlueTooth kit, the unit switches to the phone call fine. But, when you end the call, it will switch back to FM Radio with no sound! I have to hit tune down, then tune up to get the radio station to start playing again.

    Display Features

Detachable Face: The head unit features a manual fold-down, detachable faceplate and comes supplied with a hard plastic carrying case. Two face-fixing screws are supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

LCD Display: The head unit features a 2-line black/white LCD display.

Display Priority: You can set the unit to a source display or clock display priority. When set to source display priority, the radio tuner frequency, CD track/elapsed time, selected MP3/WMA information (track name, directory name, title, artist, or album), or Aux display will be displayed.

Clock Display: Normally, the clock display illuminates only when the unit is on. You can program it so the clock is displayed when the ignition key is turned on and the unit is off.

Illumination Dimmer: The head unit's display features three illumination settings. You can choose from Low, Med, or High.

    Audio Section

    CEA-2006 Compliant Amplifier: The Dual XHD6430 features a CEA-2006 Compliant rated amplifier that offers 17 watts RMS x 4 channels in 4 ohms at 1% THD+N with a Signal-To-Noise Ratio of 80dBA.

Selectable Preamp Outputs: The XHD6430 features front and rear preamp outputs. The rear preamp output allows you to adjust from a full-range rear speaker preamp output to a low-pass non-fading subwoofer preamp output. The selectable subwoofer preamp output offers separate volume control from 0-12 to enhance the sound of your connected amplifier and subwoofer without effecting the rest of your car audio speaker system.

Preset EQ Curves: You can choose from six preset curves: Flat, Pop, Jazz, Classic, Beat, and Rock. Any adjustment to the bass or treble settings automatically cancels the current EQ curve.

Bass And Treble: The head unit's Bass and Treble can be independently adjusted from -6 to +6 dB.

Loudness Curve: You can activate this feature to enhance the bass and treble frequencies when listening to music at low volumes.

Source Audio Memory: Individual bass and treble settings are retained in memory for AM, FM, CD, USB, and AUX modes. This allows you to save the Bass and Treble settings separately for each mode.

Source Volume Level: The source volume level control allows a gain adjustment for each audio source (AM, FM, CD, AUX, USB and Bluetooth). You can set the source volume level (-6 to +6) for each mode, depending on the relative volume of each audio source.

Turn-on Volume: You can preset the unit's volume when it is powered on. Each time the unit is turned on, the volume is reset to the preset level regardless of the volume level when the unit was last turned off.

Beep Confirmation: You can enable or disable beep confirmation for the head unit's control buttons.

    Radio Functions

Built-In HD Tuner: In addition to the unit's standard analog AM/FM tuner, the head unit features a built-in HD AM/FM tuner. With the built-in HD Radio tuner, you can receive digital AM/FM broadcasts from local stations where available. This technology will significantly improve audio quality and reception, as well as include information such as artist name and song titles or traffic news, viewable on the receiver's display. HD radio delivers near CD quality sound to FM broadcasts, and FM sound to AM broadcasts.

Note: Your local stations must be broadcasting HD AM/FM broadcasts to receive HD Radio content. No subscriptions fee needed for HD Radio programming.

HD Seek Mode: In addition to searching through both analog and digital stations, you can search only HD stations by using the head unit's HD Seek Mode. During this mode the head unit will skip over all analog stations and tune to only HD Radio stations.

Multicasting: This head unit also supports HD Radio multicasting and allows multicast HD Radio stations to be stored as presets.

Preset Tuning: You can store up to 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations, including HD Radio stations.  The head unit can automatically store the six strongest stations in the current band selected. Multicast channels are not stored during Auto Preset and must be manually preset.

Scan Tuning: The Scan Tuning feature momentarily previews strong stations on the current band, pausing for fives seconds at each station.

iTunes Tagging: The iTunes Tagging feature of the XHD6430 allows you to "Tag" songs that are playing on HD Radio station and enables them to be purchase later through iTunes. With the touch of a button the unit will remember the title and artist song information, and then transfer that information to your  iPod the next time you connect it to the XHD6430 using the supplied 2-wire cable. The following iPods support iTunes Tagging.

    • iPod classic (80/120/160GB)
    • iPod nano (3rd/4th/5th gen)
    • iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd gen)
    • iPhone (2G/3G/3GS)

    Disc Playback

Disc Compatibility: The XHD6430 supports playback of CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs.

SRAM Buffer: An internal SRAM buffer provides ESP (Electronic Skip Protection) to virtually eliminate skipping of your MP3/WMA CD-R/RW discs and allows alphanumeric or direct track search even while a song is currently playing.

DSP Processor: The head unit's powerful on-board DSP processor decodes MP3/WMA compressed audio files while maintaining near-CD sound quality.

MP3/WMA Playback: This unit can play MP3 and WMA files that have been recorded with constant bit rate (MP3: 32-320 kbps/WMA: 32-192 kbps) or variable bit rate compression on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The disc must be recorded using ISO 9660 level 1 or level 2, Yellow Book MODE 1, or Yellow Book MODE 2 FORM 1. In addition, this unit is compatible with ID3 Tag version 1.0 to 2.0. Discs should be recorded with a maximum of 256 folders and files and 8 folder levels.

File/Folder Navigation: You can search for all available files within a particular folder.

Playback Modes: The XHD6430 supports Repeat, Random, and Intro playback modes.

    Aux/USB/iPod Connection

USB Port: The XHD6430 features a front-panel USB port for connecting an external USB mass storage device. The head unit's USB port allows you to play MP3 (32-320kbps constant or variable bit rates) and WMA (32-192kbps constant or variable bit rates) files from most mass storage USB devices formatted in  FAT or FAT32 file system. The XHD6430 has a playback capacity of 48,896 MP3/WMA files with 127maximum number of folders, 382 maximum number of files in each folder and 8 maximum number of folder levels. In addition, the USB input also supports ID3 tags, version 1.0-2.0. The XHD6430 will display either elapsed time (default), track number, clock, track name, directory name, title, artist or album when connecting and playing a USB external source. Your connected portable USB mass storage device will also charge through this head unit's USB port. The head unit does not need to be in the USB mode in order to charge your connected device through the USB port. The XHD6430 offers the following playback and search options through its USB connection.

    • File/Folder Navigation: You can search for all available files within a particular folder.
    • Repeat: Track (continuously repeats selected track), Folder (continuously repeats all files in selected folder)
    • Random: All (plays all tracks in random order), Folder (plays all tracks in folder in random order)
    • Intro: All (plays first 10 seconds of each track on device), Folder (plays first 10 seconds of each track in folder)

Note: MP3/WMA playback sequence is based on the order in which the files are copied to your USB device and begins in the root folder. Any empty folders or folders that do not include MP3/WMA files are skipped.

iPod Operation: The front-panel USB port can also be used to connect your iPod/iPhone to the XHD6430 using your iPod or iPhone's USB/docking cable. Once you have connected your iPod/iPhone and set the XHD6430 in iPod/iPhone mode, your connected iPod/iPhone will automatically begin playback (if a song is playing on the iPod/iPhone before it is connected, it will continue to play). The XHD6430 provides audio playback, navigation control, display information, and charging of your iPod/iPhone. Your iPod/iPhone's controls will be locked during connection.
