Good unit for the money. Only complaint is it won't display the time constantly. You have to hit the DISP button to see the time and it cycles back to the previous screen in 5 seconds.Kind of annoying.

    Pros: Good sound, inexpensive

Cons: Programming options for display preferences could be better.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For 44 dollars I was surprised at the sound quality in comparison to the radio in the vehicle. I had a millennial tell me before I started that I should just take the car to the geek squad and have them do it. Probably saved a few hundred dollars for a few hours work (included new speakers). The kit for my wife's old 99 beetle fit perfect and instructions were easy to follow. This is not a manufacturer's employee writing a review... a real person. Thanks and I rarely give reviews if things work out well.

Pros: Sounds Good and easy to install. Picked up all stations with no static

Cons: Had to grind a little plastic. Instructions mentioned it might happen

    Perfect Purchase!

John from Valdez, AK on 9/10/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Perfect for the price. I purchased this unit for my tractor and didn't want to spend a lot. It has all the features I wanted, plus more. I wanted the radio for news and weather but also wanted to play all my music stored on flash drives and various mp3 players acquired over the years. This unit can also play music from your sd cards. This little unit is exactly what I wanted! The Tech-Line was wonderful and answered all my questions and the shipping was free and shipped within an hour of ordering! This is, by far, the best company I have ever ordered from.

Pros: Plays mp3, music stored on USB devices and on sd cards. Has a built in equalizer and even comes with a remote control.

    Cons: None found.

Nice display and everything works except the USB port. We still gave it 4 stars because of the confidence we had that it would fit because Crutchfield had done the research. It connected easily and fits like a gem! My son is thrilled to be able to listen to his own music instead of static and AM radio.

Pros: Fit perfectly and looks great

Cons: USB port not working with iPhone 7; however, my son could still play his music through AUX.

Everything worked as expected except for the USB port. USB port only play music file like MP3 player, if you have an iPhone, this won't play music off your phone or charge your phone. But for the price, can't beat it.

Pros: Works good for the price

Cons: USB port only works with music file player only. If you have an iPhone, it won't work!

Good radio...simple to work with. It does sit weird in the harness and the actual head moves a little bit. For some reason it basically restarts everytime you turn your car off so if you have any radio presets itt clears it. But that could my car I dont know. Its worth the money

Pros: Detachable head Simple design Easy installation

Cons: Radio cable didnt fit right Cant change colors or brightness Resets all radio settings when you turn car off.

Always helps to search online to watch someone remove the trim on your particular model, but be wary of the way people do stuff! Instructions from Crutchfield were good. You could spend a lot more and not get a better unit!

Pros: Works well. lots of features, great EQ and power.

Cons: illumination color doesn't change or dim.

Remove 2 transit screws located on top of the unit. Insert the supplied keys into the slots as shown, and slide the unit out of the mounting sleeve. Trim ring is permanent, what transit screws, keys do not work as shown

Perfect replacement for the stock unit in my old 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Since we no longer use cassettes or CD's this unit does everything we need it to. We can just hook up our phones via USB and listen to whatever we want. Very easy install and great usability. Only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you can't dim the unit and it can get a little bright when driving late at night. Other than that I have no complaints. Highly recommend this to anyone who needs a cheap and easy replacement unit.

Simple system and easy to install though the low rating is due to the installation instructions not being great and the screws that I took out of the factory system did not fit or line up with this system. I was able to modify the factory housing to align the screws which is when I realized they did not fit. I was able to make it work so I am overall not unpleased.

    2002 Ford F-150

Wow - for the Dollars spent this is the best radio, I just got done installing in a 2002 F-150 Std cab, and the wiring harness was a snap, I soldered all the wires while waiting on hold for tech support as I had a quick question, Support was awesome and got me what I needed to Know very quickly, (The extra plug on the back of the radio was for a feature that was not installed in the truck) Took it outside, used the included tools to remove the old radio in less than a min. attached slide from the radio to the install kit, pulled off the not needed face plate from the install kit and broke off the not needed Tabs on the install kit, it all snapped into place, I put the OEM cover back in place - Perfect fit, put some tunes on the SD card and we were rocking. I had replaced the speakers previously with some Pioneeer TS-A6996R's and compared to factory it is awesome, Don't expect $400.00 Quality but for a 15 year old truck it is great. Thank you Crutchfield for an awesome experience all the way around, from the Chat help, to delivery, to the included accy's to the support A+++ all the way around I'm glad I came here to buy! - Install time was less than 45 min, with 25 of the being soldering the wiring harness - Crimp connectors are fine but I prefer to solder. Awesome deal thank you!

Pros: So far it's perfect, all we wanted was to be able to play off a SD card, and have a separate USB to charge the phone, everything else is a bonus and so far it is great!

Cons: None so far, it just works

I am completly satisfied with this product. Sounds even better than the original radio ever did. It plays my SD card and the USB drive perfectly. The radio also works great. And I am using the original speakers that were in my 2000 Mazda Miata MX-5. And it looks good. Great replacement especially for the price, can't beat it.

Pros: Easy to install. Great sound for the price. Installation kit had everything needed to install unit. All wiring harnesses worked well. Will use SD card, or USB drive. Reads WMA files well.

Cons: Couldn't dim display lights for night use. This might be distracting at times. Doesn't lower antenna when using sd or usb sources. Antenna stays up anytime unit is on.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Worst stereo out there. First of all, it doesn't dim at night so you are blinded by the light. I have to tape cardboard on my dash to hang down in front of it. Second, the volume know froze up; I couldn't even move it with pliers. I have to use the remote but it, too, is starting to wear out. Third, why put a clock on a radio if the clock doesn't stay on? If you want to see what time it is, you have to press a button and then the time will appear for 3 seconds. Please don't waste your money on this stereo. For less money, you can get one locally at the big box retail store that plays CDs and has bluetooth.

    Pros: None

Cons: No dimmer controls. Clock doesn't stay on. Poor design. Cheaper radios with CD player and bluetooth at walmart.

A great receiver at a great price! This will play music off nearly any device you plug into it. iPhone,iPod, Windows phone, Android, SD cards, USB thumb drives and possibly even more. Buttons on the unit are nicely laid out and the supplied instructions made installation a snap. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is that a dash kit was not suggested along with the purchase, and some shipping SNAFU's that were mostly on the UPS end. Even with that being said, I am completely pleased with the service I received from Crutchfield and the product I ordered.

Pros: Well lit display, numerous methods of operation, excellent sound, ability to charge USB devices

Cons: No supplied dash kit, will not read songs on phone if plugged into USB port (it will charge your phone but you have to use the aux cable to listen to what is on it), owners manual does not mention that radio must be on 'tuner' to adjust time.

Got it for the Aux input as my factory stereo only had a tape deck which auto-reversed on me. Works perfect and sounds great, volume is awesome. Only downsides are the radio which has no seek function, so it's a pain to find a station on a road trip, and the brightness which as far as I know doesn't have a dimmer and is distracting at night.

I mostly listen to talk radio on AM and I' afraid this radio let me down.I always receive two stations at the same time so the selectivity leaves a lot to be desired. My stock truck radio never did this. The FM works fine so no problems there. As others have said the blue back lighting is very bright which is no problem in the day time but very distracting at night.I guess I will listen to more music and less talk from now on.I will say Crutchfield is very good to deal with and sent me everything I needed for an easy installation.

Bought this receiver in April of this year for my 95 Accord Ex v6 to be able to listen to music as the previous owner took out the other radio. It fit perfect, sound quality isn't bad as long as you have decent speakers. Some reviews state that the illumination is bright but comparing it to the headlights folks have nowadays, it's not that bad( though a dimmer would be nice). I only use the USB and the Auxiliary port, no radio and it works fine with my iPhone 6.

I found everything about getting this radio, the needed attachments, accessories, and adapters to be very easy to use. Absolutely everything I needed was shipped to me in less than 24 hours, I know that is because they are based out of the same state I live in but it just made it even more convenient. All in all, I was riding around with music again about an hour after receiving the package in the mail. I really enjoy the USB factor of this radio too, I literally have my library of music on the go, and it's not to bad shuffling through it either.

    Pros:

    Cons:

    Awful. No other word needed.

Steve from Fullerton, CA on 5/25/2016

    1990 Honda Accord LX

This is perhaps the worst stereo head unit I have ever had. The receiver is terrible on FM, and worse on AM. I replaced the stock head unit in my Accord that gave up after 25 years of flawless performance on both AM and FM. The backlighting on this unit is exceedingly bright, the only way I was able to dim it was to take apart the faceplate and cover the LEDs with enough tape to let only a bit of light through. The left channels are so distorted that the volume cannot be turned up more than maybe 25%. The only redeeming factors are the USB and aux inputs, but even with those, the unit is worthless. At first I thought my left speakers were bad, so I kept the unit, and learned to live with the poor AM reception until I could afford a better unit. Now I realize this thing is junk and I flushed good money down the toilet. I have installed numerous car stereos, none have had problems except for this one. Do not waste your money. Stay with something like Kenwood, JVC, Blaupunkt, or something equally well-known.

Pros: USB and aux input. That's it.

Cons: Too many to list, but here goes. Bright enough backlighting to illuminate the entire inside of the car and destroy your night vision. Impossible-to-read buttons. Terrible receiver on FM, worse on AM. Receiver has zero selectivity on AM, and usually locks on to multiple stations simultaneously. Highly-distorted left-channel audio on both front and rear speakers. Poor filtering picks up engine noise. You honestly don't even get what you pay for, since this thing costs the same as a Blaupunkt.

I had the radio within 48 hours. I also purchased the PAC-C2R-GM11B Wiring Interface to keep the car's in dash information display.

    Decient product

Jim (Jim's Tech Reviews) from Lexington, KY on 5/16/2016

    1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty

It is a great little system, I am still in the process of updating the Truck that this went in as I have the stock speakers still, so I am just waiting on the harness adapters to arrive so I can finish the speaker install, however at the moment the unit does put out good quality sound, wouldn't say its super but this is what I consider an "entry level" unit, I do love that it has the ability for USB and SD cards to be played which has effectively rendered CDs an obsolete technology to me, (partly why I went with a mechless design anyways, also feels a lot lighter weight wise). I have 32GB sd card (does support SDHC). I would say value wise for the most part is good and on par with what I paid for the unit (got it for a lower price point) and it does mostly what I want it to do which is play my music off my SD card with out question. Only "gripe" I have with this unit is that the text keeps scrolling which I do find a bit annoying as I can see it out of the corner of my eye all the time, and that the clock does not have a way to be "always on" so I can have it display the time constantly, I have to hit the DISP button for that, I did call the tech support number for the company as I figure they know the product the best, and they tried there best to help me out to no avail. The second thing I have a gripe with is that I had to set the radio into the euro mode for the 24Hr formatting of the clock other then that its a great unit for the price and works well so far :)

Pros: SD and USB, no CD player to mess with, good price point for the unit

Cons: clock can't be set to display in "always on" state

Honestly, it's amazing for the money. The aux works with my iPhone, but NOT with the USB port. It claims compatibility, but I only get errors (iPhone6+). I'm only comparing this to the stock stereo in my 2000 Dodge Ram Van. I also upgraded the front speakers with a better pair. That said, the sound upgrade is shocking. My wife can't believe how good it sounds.

Pros: Crutchfield has NO competitors. Their customer service is 2nd to none and their instruction manuals are amazing! The install was so easy. Step by step instructions on getting the dash out and how to install everything was a piece of cake. Looks great!

I have a 2/3 replica Wurlitzer Jukebox. Originally, this box contained a 10 CD player. So what, maybe 80 songs? I was getting tired of listening to them over and over when I had about 880 songs from the 50's and 60's. So Dual radio which, in addition to AM/FM has Aux/USB/SD support. I wish there was a way to add images to this review. It looks quite stunning. The installation was pretty much a piece of cake. I made a face plate with a cutout for the radio mount, bolted it in, hooked the radio up up to a 120 VAC to 12 VDC adapter and I was in business.

I like the concept of this unit. I like background music playing all the time. I have found that currently FM stations have to many commercials & playing CDs gets annoying on a trip cause you have to change disks every half hour or so. I used XM for years. Now by putting music I like on an XD card I can have a whole day of music without commercials, station drop-outs, or tunes I dislike.

Pros: Nice looking, Good sounds, easy to install & use, great price.

Overall this stereo unit is about what I expected for the price. Since I installed this in an older car, I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money. The main feature that I was looking for was the AUX input on the front.

Pros: Easy to install with Crutchfield's excellent instructions and accessories.

Cons: - The blue LEDs are blindingly bright at night. I ended up taking apart the front panel and coloring over the LEDs with a sharpie to dim them a bit. They are still too bright. - The clock only displays temporarily when you press the Display button. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For a 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport, the radio didn't fit and I had to trim the car's radio panel to make it fit. The radio also didn't line up with the screw holes, but taking the DIN cage off made it work, but it's not exactly a 100% fit. Radio works great and sounds great anyway.

Pros: Great features, great look. A little bright. Very few moving parts other than a USB cover, buttons, and dials. Plays MP3 and MP3 playlists just fine. FM reception in New York City metro area is great. For $54, it's fine.

Cons: Didn't fit my car 100%, a 2002 Subaru. Screws didn't line up. DIdn't need the DIN cage. Car fascia needed a bit of trimming. Front is bright. MP3 song names don't display all the way (I get an error). AM reception is horrible in New York City. If $54 is all you have, it's fine.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced a factory Dodge radio with this unit. The speakers in my truck are the premium Infinity speakers. This unit sounds awesome through those speakers. I haven't used a CD in years, so the fact that it doesn't have one caught my attention. I doubt I'll ever buy another unit that has a CD player or DVD for that matter. The only thing I've found so far that I would change is the location of the SD card slot. It is behind the faceplate. I gave it a 4 for ease of use because the preset buttons could have been a bit larger. And the ding for coolness was due to the display having no color options at all. Still the unit sounds awesome and if your looking for a great sound and don't require a CD player...look no further. The controls on the remote are well laid out and easy to use.

Pros: Great sound Crutchfield made it easy to install with their inclusion of the correct installation parts Again, great sound quality

Cons: I really don't have any unless your looking for very pretty aesthetics. As I said mono-color display

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed the most inexpensive system that Crutchfield had because I am planning to sell my car in about a year and I could not stand living with the stock radio until then. This Dual Receiver served this purpose very well. Definitely not high end sound but good enough for my 30 minute commute and definitely better than the stock radio. The remote is better than expected so I use it quite often to change station or advance the music because the buttons on the radio are small. The installation to my 2001 Toyota Corolla was super easy. There is no illumination wiring connection which will dim the light during night driving. However, the bright radio lighting at night was not that annoying. Generally, the controls are simple and not complicated...which is a plus. I am happy that the radio reception is decent with very little static to my popular stations. I am using a SD card for my MP3 music and there is no problem whatsoever using this media. However, you have to remove the anti-theft cover plate to insert or remove the SD card. I used the mini aux once but I found that the wiring to my smart phone was too much of a hassle so I ended up using the SD card as my primary music for MP3. For the price that I paid, I definitely can't complain.

Pros: Easy to install, better than stock radio, and very inexpensive. No radio static for most stations. Excellent remote to change radio stations or advance the songs on your SD card.

Cons: A Basic Radio with SD, USB and aux mini input. No dimmer mode for night driving. Small buttons. Basic but acceptable sound quality.

I was just replacing a stock radio in a Ford Van, so I wasn't looking for anything special, just something that could attach an Mp3 player or a phone through a work van. I've dealt with Dual stuff before, and have never really been impressed with any aspect of them. I went ahead and got this anyway, because the price was right and because Crutchfield provided all of the accessories I needed, which made it easy for me to open the package and get it in the van between jobs. I was pleasantly surprised that not only was everything I needed (save for the couplers to attach the harness) was included, but that the radio sounded halfway decent. My biggest concern is now I'm going to have to replace the speakers now! Great deal, and I'll be coming back for another order.

Pros: Easy install, great sound for the price with plenty of EQ and processing.

Cons: My only wish is that it had bluetooth. I'd swap the SD card ready for a blue tooth reciever, but give the price, I don't mind hooking up a 1/8" cable.

Bought this for my 2002 Ford Ranger to replace the crappy 2 speaker factory radio. I don't use this truck as much as my car so I didn't want to spend much on it. I got this, 2 pairs of speakers, wiring harnesses, and install kit for only $123.00. I wired the harnesses together, and installed the sleeve in the install kit in my house, then basically just had to plug in to factory plug, and snap install kit in to dash and was ready to go. Set it up to my liking and it sounds 1000 times better than the factory unit. Seems easy to use, only complaint is clock does not stay on, you have to push display button to see it, unless I have not figured out how to keep it on yet, but other than that no complaints. Crutchfield supplied wire harnesses make install very easy. Like that you can play music from thumb drive or sd card, don't use cd s so don't need cd player which makes this unit smaller and lighter. This unit does what it's suppose to do for a low price. Also other people have said the LED is too bright or overpowering, but I don't think it is. Like the remote also

I originally set out to find a cheap analog stereo to replace my OEM Stereo. The OEM sounded terrific but sadly crumped, and trying to repair or find another original stereo was not in the budget. I found this stereo locally and thought "Can't beat that price." So bought it, went home and installed it within 30 mins, and it sounds great! There is a noticeable difference in the sound quality, again, not the best, but does exactly what I wanted it to do, which was to play music. I can put music on an SD Card, connect my iphone via the AUX 3mm phone jack, or from a usb device. I tried each of these options and they all worked, the only thing that did not work was the usb to iphone, the stereo did not recognize the iphone and would not play any music. The other nice thing about this, is that if connected via the AUX headset jack, if you get a call it acts like a handsfree device playing the callers voice through the speakers as long as you keep the phone on the dash, they caller can hear you just fine through the mic of the Iphone. Overall, it was the best money I've spent on an upgrade. If it last's a year it will be worth it. Easy to navigate the EQ options, and fine tune the sound to your liking. The Blue display lights are a cool color but are WAY TOO Bright and you cannot dim this, however some electrical tape cut and shaped to cover the volume knob did help. Hey, its cheap and it sounds better than no stereo!

Pros: Affordable, easy to navigate, accepts SD, USB and 3mm Audio Jack input. Many ways to fine tune that perfect sound, EQ options, bass and treble control, FAD, BAL it is all there. Cool Remote. Built in RCA jacks (for those wanting to hook up an AMP).

Cons: LED TOO Bright and no dimmer option when driving at night, but covering with tape or something helps.

Great price, great sound, and it was easy to install (once I got the right wiring harness). The first harness that shipped was not for my car, so I sent an email and received a confirmation email within a couple of hours that a new one was being shipped!

Pros: Very good price for some really cool features. I reformatted and loaded a 2-gig SD card (now that I only use 16gb in my camera) with one song library, and have used a USB flash drive, too, and they both work really well. Installation was really easy, and there are lots of presets for both FM and AM. Looks good in my dash, too!

Cons: I do miss having a clock display on the dash...I don't see that option anywhere, but it isn't a great loss. No CD-rom on this unit, but after having to dismantle my old one to retrieve CD's that were stuck in it, I like the SD and USB options better anyway. And for the price, these so-called "cons" are no big deal.

The Dual XR4120: a very functional radio, it's simple to install, cheap on the wallet, well-rounded, easy to access, and a bang for your buck. The radio's neat lighting makes an easy-to-find and easy-to-use button system. The only problem I find, is the slow scanning when trying to get to a station. The quality of the radio is really good for what you pay for. It's sound quality is decent, but that is only because of the speakers I'm using with it. The whole installation didn't take roughly thirty minutes. Crutchfield provided the essentials for the installation, which was more than convenient. They provided a wiring harness, instructions on installations, a PDF file, and the mounting kit.

Pros: Cheap. You pay for the quality, which is actually decent. Simple installation. Convenient with the remote. The lights give a nice look and a nice visibility. Came from Crutchfield.

I bought this and it fit perfectly and sounds great. The install was very easy, a bit time consuming, but well worth it. I do have have some buzzing sounds with it but I bought a ground loop isolator and that got rid of the noise that comes about when the car or phone/music device isn't grounded. Besides that I can't complain. It was exactly what I was expecting. Don't forget to get additional adapters and kits so that it will fit in your specific car. The Crutchfield website does a great job of finding the components that you need. Also get some connectors so that you can connect the adapter and the receiver wires. Follow the instructions!

Pros: Cheap, fits in 2010 Crown Victoria, face-plate is removable, sleek design, easy to use, security light behind face plate, SD, USB and AUX connectors along with 24 FM and 16 AM presets.

Cons: Brightness of glow cannot be dimmed.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace the aging factory head unit in my car. Easy to install, sounds good, and the digital media options are right up my alley. As some other customers have noted, the blue backlighting on this is *bright*. Not just "I wish this wasn't quite as bright", but "Why am I suddenly in the wrong lane and driving towards a fiery death" bright. So bright, in fact, that after a single night driving experience, I opted to void my warranty by opening up the faceplate and covering all of the LEDs with some adhesive white vinyl to mute the color somewhat. It's much more tolerable now.

Pros: Super easy to install, enough power to maintain good sound with some volume, easy navigation of digital media

Cons: Display is bright enough to allow a blind person to operate it in broad daylight.

Installation is pretty straight forward, although it was not a complete 100% direct fit in my 1995 Ford F350 XL 5.8 Crew Cab, but that could have just been my fault. Adds a nice "updated" look to the old truck. The music sounds great and the level of adjustment is perfect for my application. I do wish there was a way to dim the display, but that shouldn't take away from quality of the product. The price is perfect for what you get.

Pros: Easy installation Great look Wide range of adjustment

    Cons: Wasn't 100% direct fit

Keeping in mind the price, the USB and SDHC interfaces are great to have and as an added bonus the audio input jack is a nice feature for hooking up your phone/tablet in a pinch. Detachable head is important to deter theft. Sound quality is great for price and I'm guessing equal to lower end factory head units.

Pros: Easy to use, loads of inputs, easy to read lettering.

Cons: Unit light at night time is too bright and there is no off feature for this without turning the unit off. Unable to randomize tracks within folders - just randomizes playing the whole drive.

I got this deck for my girlfriend, who hasn't had a working radio in any of her cars...ever. I wanted to make sure that she was happy, and the sight of just the box brought her immense joy. As for the radio itself, it works great. It's easy to use, and the lack of CD mechanisms make it to where there's even less to go wrong with it. The faceplate is bright, the controls are straight forward and simple (she only uses the aux port in the front, anyway), and the installation of the radio was cake (both the wiring and the actual insertion into the dash).

Pros: Everything about this radio is as advertised or better.

Cons: The *only* thing I have an issue with is that the standby state of the display defaults to whatever mode you're in, or in case of the tuner, whatever station you're on. You can bring up the clock by hitting the display button, but it only leaves the clock visible for a few seconds before returning to listing the mode/station. A minor detail, but some people may be far more fussy about this than I am (neither I nor my girlfriend consider this a deal breaker)...

I like this unit a lot. It's a big relief not having to fumble with CDs anymore, and a 16gb USB drive can keep me going on the road. For album listening, the aux jack in the front is convenient.

Pros: Sounds better than factory unit, nice display, pretty easy to use.

Cons: Buttons below the display used to navigate radio and music are too small.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To be honest, after reading the other reviews, I was captivated almost immediately simply because the only thing I was searching for was improved sound quality. I installed this head unit for my buddy in his '02 Ranger and the difference is incredible - not only does it sound crisp and clear, the old head unit was almost pitiful in comparison. For the price and the free installation gear, I don't think anything could be a better match if you're a bit money conscious.

Pros: Wonderful sound and responsiveness. The USB Input sounds fantastic and delivers exactly what you want to hear without any buzzing or skipping. Installation was a breeze, didn't take more than 20 minutes.

Cons: A tad bit hard to get used to if you're just getting into sound and car audio, but very easy to adapt to over time.

After The second one sent and Installed, bought a new antenna and Ground everything would still BLEED( that what they call it) two channels would come in at the same time. This would fad in and out. could never really figure if it's the bumps in the road or what. The old radio had no problems and re installed it and sent everything back. The service was helpful as far as response and some ideas. The extra money i had to get another antenna ended up a waste. I give then high marks for Service and crediting my account. To bad I like the option of USB port Thanks Jim

When I bought this I thought it was going to be a cheap radio and honestly wasn't too thrilled about it. However when I installed it and used it for the first time it was extremely impressed! The build quality is very nice, and its so easy to use and serves as a awesome replacement for someone whos on a tight budget and wasn't something modern and cool for their vehicle.

Pros: Cool illumination, Easy to use, Sounds great, looks cool, built well, remote included, USB/ SD port, AUX jack

Cons: Not as many audio options as other head units

    Audio & Tuner Section

MOSFET Amplifier: The Dual XR4120 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the XR4120 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 16 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts total)
Note: The power specifications for the XR4120 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

2V/2Ch Preamp Outputs: The Dual XRA4120 features a pair of 2-volt preamp outputs to connect an external amplifier. The preamp outputs are fading and cannot be set to non-fading.

Equalizer: The Dual digital media receiver features the following preset EQ curves (Flat, Pop, Jazz, Rock, & Off/User) to customize your music listening. The Bass & Treble can be independently adjusted from +/-7 when in Off/User EQ mode. Activating the Loudness feature will enhance the bass and treble frequencies when listening to music at low volumes.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every button press will output a beep tone.

AM/FM Tuner: The Dual XR4120 features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, & preset tuning. The built-in AM/FM tuner allows you to store up to 18 FM station presets and 12 AM station presets. You can tune your presets manually or have the head unit do it automatically.

    • Preset Scan: The Preset Scan feature automatically scans your saved preset stations in the selected AM/FM band for five seconds each.
    • Local: The Local function allows only strong radio stations to be received, blocking stations with weaker signals.
    • Mono Mode: Selecting the Mono mode can improve reception in areas with weak FM signals.
Note: You can switch the tuner between USA or European tuning.

    Display & Remote Features

Detachable Face:The Dual digital media receiver features a detachable faceplate to deter theft (no face case is supplied). An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

10-Character LCD: The XR4120 features a 10 character LCD with white text & black background for easy viewing during the day or nighttime; plus blue button illumination.

12/24 Hour Clock: The unit's built-in clock will display 12-hour AM/PM time in USA frequency spacing mode. In European frequency spacing mode, the clock will display 24-hour time.

Wireless Remote Control: The XR4120 comes supplied with an 17-button IR remote control which provides wireless control over the Dual digital media receiver.

Needed a new head unit for my vehicle. Ultimately decided to return this receiver for one with more features, but if all you need is a head unit to play your digital music files it is a great choice. No frills and a great price for what you are purchasing. Only complaint is you aren't able to dim the display so it is very bright and a little distracting at night.[ Kyle  Sep 11, 2017 ]

I've noticed that when I use an aux cord it doesn't happen, but when I use the radio it pops and is definitely not as clear.[ Paula  Jun 13, 2017 ]
Well, maybe. If you have an installation that is not standard. Often cructhfield has all of the connectors you need that would not require any soldiering. They even have modules that let you keep your steering wheel controls. When your click on a radio there is a link button for all the other stuff you may need. They also seed you a data master sheet to help you remove your old unit and install the new one. This sheet(book) is specific to your car.[ james  Apr 06, 2017 ]

No, it does not require any soldering. Everything just plugs in or uses smart connectors. Very easy to install if you order the correct kit.[ Roy  Apr 05, 2017 ]
We do not offer Dual's line of car audio speakers. It's not required to use the same manufacturer for the stereo and speakers in your system. To make the most of the stereo's wattage, you'll want speakers with a high sensitivity rating. I do not know, I don't use an amp.[ CHARLES  Mar 01, 2016 ]
I only use the SD card in mine. It stays in there permanently. When I pull the face from the player and later put it back on, it resumes play from where it stopped.[ Jerry  Feb 20, 2016 ]
    Yes[ VINAY KUMAR  Feb 20, 2016 ]
To my knowledge no, however after owning it for about a year and a half I don't really notice it anymore.[ Lisa  Jan 12, 2016 ]
This Dual XR4120 doesn't actually feature the ability to change the display or button colors; the display remains black/white and the buttons are illuminated with a blue backlight. However, in the owner's manual I see that it's recommended to "Press the RESET button upon initial installation or if abnormal operation occurs. The RESET button is located behind the front panel." If you're having issues with your display, you should try resting the head unit to see if that helps. If that doesn't fix it, you may want to try contacting Dual's support at 866-382-5476.[ Larry  Dec 21, 2015 ]  Staff
No it does not display time.[ CHARLES  Nov 10, 2015 ]
It will show the time when you hit the display button. Time shows for a few seconds then display goes back to what it showed before[ Erick  Nov 10, 2015 ]

No only music from aux. nothing from USB[ MARGOT  Sep 16, 2015 ]
I know it doesn't play music, not sure about charging. It might play music from a flash drive, but I never tried it.[ CHARLES  Sep 16, 2015 ]
The usb port is for storage devices. If you plug your iPhone 6 into a pc usb port and it shows a storage device with a standard file system and music arranged in folders, then yes. I use a 32GB usb flash drive with mine and it works just fine.[ John  Sep 16, 2015 ]
Highly doubt it.[ VINAY KUMAR  Sep 01, 2015 ]
NO its not water proof, but i never got mine went thought so, I cant be too sure.[ Bruno  Sep 01, 2015 ]

yes Ive had my subs hooked up to this for over a year and its still jammin and sounding strong!![ Sarah  Dec 19, 2015 ]
You can hook the RCA cables to the back of it to plug into the subwoofers amp.[ Jonah  Jun 22, 2015 ]
    Large.[ William  May 03, 2015 ]
Sdhc (physically large size) but it does not play sdxc.[ VINAY KUMAR  Apr 30, 2015 ]
It uses a standard(large) SD card. Of course you can get an micro SD adapter though. :) [ Emmett  Apr 30, 2015 ]
I'm most certain its large[ Nick  Apr 30, 2015 ]
Those answers are not correct, the usb will charge your iphone only when the mode is on USB but here is the kicker...it will not stay on USB mode with just an ordinary usb charge cable connected. I used a kenwood USB+3.5mm jack which on one end it has usb and 3.5 mm jack. Both of those go into the front designated inputs on the receiver. The two wires are joined into 1 on the opposite end which looks like a iphone 4 charger but it passes data and audio. What does that mean to you...iphone charges and you get good sound[ Corey  Jul 23, 2015 ]
I've plugged my phone into the usb port and it said it was charging, however if i remember right it died anyways. Could be a fault with the cord i was using or my radio in particular, but if you have it it's worth a shot. Just make sure you observe where your phones charge level is at. Also i have an android phone and don't know if that'll make a difference or not. Good luck to you.[ Joseph Allan  Mar 19, 2015 ]
Nope, it doesn't charge, it only allows you to play MP3 songs that are on a usb jump drive![ Evan  Mar 18, 2015 ]
No I've had troubles getting apple products to connect with this radio and it won't even let it charge them[ Kai  Mar 18, 2015 ]
No you can switch it right from the phone. The USB is only for charging from my understanding, the aux input is what you would you use for music.[ Sarah  Mar 04, 2015 ]

Hi Claudio,I own the unit and it does have AM/FM radio.[ VINAY KUMAR  Jan 08, 2015 ]
Yes! It comes in extremely clear, and has 9presets.[ Emmett  Jan 06, 2015 ]
Yes. It is automatically set to FM1. It has I believe 3 FM slots, FM1,FM2, and FM3. It does AM but sure how many. There is no CD player as that is replaced with a SD card slot, which works with micro SDHC also. A USB port for USB audio and a external 35mm audio jack.[ Jeremy  Jan 06, 2015 ]
Yes it does! It's awesome and works perfectly for everything I need! The only con is that the lights on it are a bit bright at night.[ Sarah  Jan 06, 2015 ]
    Yes[ adam  Jan 06, 2015 ]

Hi Paul, I have the same unit and I pretty sure there is no way to dim the controls nor turn the units lights off without turning the power off. The player is fantastic for the price, but at night its makes my interior annoyingly blue.[ VINAY KUMAR  Nov 30, 2014 ]
This was purchased and installed in my daughters car. She has not found a way to dim the display. Sorry[ John  Nov 29, 2014 ]
No. We have a few of these installed in our work trucks,( Mack, peterbuilt, international) and driving early morning or late night sucks. It is a bright blue light with no way to dim it other than remove the faceplate or shut it of..[ adam  Nov 29, 2014 ]

I have yet to set the clock.....[ ROBERT R  Aug 18, 2014 ]
How do I set the clock on this Kenwood unit? [ Gary L  Aug 17, 2014 ]
No, it's the worst flaw about this unit.[ Alex  Jul 22, 2014 ]
Unfortunately not. I've gone through every setting, and it will only display for a moment.[ Emmett  Jul 20, 2014 ]
Clock? I wasn't, aware it even had a clock. Maybe I need to read the manual again.[ William  Jul 20, 2014 ]
You have to choose the option for adding the accessory[ Ashley  May 23, 2014 ]
The jack fit right into the original and the wires were all color-coded properly. You will need butt-splices or wire-nuts or electrical tape to splice the wires. I had wire-nuts in the basement, so it was a breeze.[ Jerry  May 23, 2014 ]
Yes it included everything when I bought the item.[ Landon  May 22, 2014 ]
It really depends on your car. The box contains the radio, remote and wires. I found it best to enter in the make, model and year of my car on the home page first. Crutchfield showed which radios were compatible and had pop up windows that let me know what else I needed to make sure I had everything. My factory radio was a double din (the tall kind) and I needed a faceplate surround to be able to use the smaller, single din radio. I also needed a separate part to maintain the chime sounds for the door, lights, etc, and an antenna part. Overall I payed about $130, which was way lower than local places offered.[ Kristin  May 22, 2014 ]
Yeah except I don't understand how to put the mount together. Like the two plastic sides I don't understand how to connect that to the frame.[ BAILEY  May 22, 2014 ]
When you check out it should give you the option to add the parts needed to install it for $15 and those include everything you need[ Alisha  May 22, 2014 ]
If ordering from crutch field, they ensure you get everything you need (no up sell). My suggestion is to use the online chat and have the sales advisor send you a link with all the necessary items. For example, if you say you want this item, the will include the wire harness (free or little charge), trim adaptor if needed (usually free), instructions for your vehicle (free), and answer any questions. By the way, for the price, this stereo is fantastic.[ VINAY KUMAR  May 22, 2014 ]
This radio is bottom-of-the-line. This does not mean it is bad. It is great for an old car if you just want to connect your iPod to it. It requires a aux cord-no bluetooth function-no CD player. Make sure you by a quality aux cord from a box store rather than a cheap one. I did this and that cord broke in a day.[ Jacob Theron  Apr 29, 2014 ]
You have to plug it in.[ William  Apr 28, 2014 ]
No Bluetooth, so yes, aux to play music off your phone. The quality is better through aux than bluetooth anyway, so if you don't mind the cable it's a better option.[ Alex  Apr 28, 2014 ]
