A surface-mount bracket allows you to mount this camera wherever you need it, including side-mounting for RV and commercial truck use.

Very expensive for what you get. I bought a different style that comes with a hole drill for a greatly reduced price that mounts right into the bumper and cannot even be seen. I'm not sure why this one costs so much.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My wife said "wow, this has much better quality than the one in her car." It took a couple of hours to install, but that's only because I had to get the installation PERFECT. The instructions that came in the box were essentially worthless, but one call to customer service was all it took to get me moving in the right direction.

I can't believe how well this little camera works.

Pros: This camera was surprisingly easy to install and gives a great picture.

Cons: It took awhile to run the cable all the way up to the front but that's par for the course.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wouldn't say that its a bad camera, however installation is can be fairly ENTERTAINING as the video output cable is at the end of the fairly lengthy attached cable for easy hookup to your headunit but the Power and ground wires are located about a third of the way down the cable from the camera. You can basically mount the ground anywhere but the power needs to tie to a backup light power (which it can not reach) or be extended to the front of the vehicle to get to the reverse power from the headunit.

Pros: Small, included LED light may assist picture quality at night

Cons: Required connections must be done at different locations along the cable. Power and Ground cables may require spliced extensions depending on your vehicle

Bill from Orting, WA on 2/20/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product works ok. There was enough wire for me to wire a full size pickup truck without splicing which is nice. Without backup lights the infrared illumination is minimal and not adequate. normal backup lights add enough additional light for the camera to work ok. The image becomes grainy in low light. View angle is smaller than I anticipated and full-vehicle-width view occurs about 4 feet behind the truck.

Pros: Small

Cons: Awkward size. Round would be better for my application

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great unit, just don't be put off by the installation instructions, which are rubbish. First of all, they appear to cover 6 different units with different connection needs, but there is no clear way to tell which diagram applies. Secondly, the instructions related to removing the reference lines on the camera are incorrect. That is, the instructions say to cut the wire marked reverse reference lines to make them go away, and the way the harness is taped, this seems like it should make sense. In fact, the wire is already cut under the tape, and you actually need to pull the tape off and CONNECT (not cut) the two wires to make the reverse reference lines go away. It is also unclear what the red wire up by the video connector is for since you already connected a reverse sensing wire to the backup light elsewhere in the harness. Turns out I believe this is just feeding that signal forward in case there is not another reverse sensing wire handy at the head unit. The only other complaint I have is that the cord was too short, but then again, I was installing in a 2010 Suburban. Once I routed the wired properly, the RCA plug only reached to the passenger door sill, and I had to get an extension locally. After all that, I am very pleased with the unit. The picture quality is excellent, better than the factory system on my 2015 Mazda. At night, the image goes monochrome, but stays very clear, again, better than the factory system on my 2015 Mazda.

Pros: Great picture quality, both day and night Small, inconspicuous unit

Cons: Needs better instructions Longer cord would be nice for those of us with larger vehicles

Great camera, may we have more wire, please?

Philip B from Denver, CO on 12/4/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This camera works perfectly with my Crutchfield-purchased Kenwood DDX373BT DVD Receiver. It works very well with reverse image and automatic load when the car is in reverse. I had some professional help installing it in my 2007 Chevy Uplander LS, which is a long minivan with a lifing rear gate/window. As such, neither the run to the taillights for power and reverse were long enough, nor the cable run to the dashboard. In both cases, additional wire had to be spliced into the line to make the runs. For $80, would it kill them to throw in a few more feet of wiring?

Pros: Perfect for use with a touchscreen car stereo system. Automatically appears when the vehicle is in reverse gear. Good guidelines are added to the camera image.

Cons: If you have a larger vehicle, buy some additional wire and more connectors.

Works very well.

Joshua from Sacramento, CA on 8/14/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All in all, this is a "good enough" camera. The instructions leave a lot to be desired, but for the patiently diligent, it can be installed without issue - and with a few Google searches. It was in the reviews here on Crutchfield where I learned I could disable the parking guide lines (to use those provided by my Pioneer head unit) by bridging two, short (one inch) green wires. These were hidden under some shrink tubing, and I never would have found them had I not known to go looking for them. Poor instructions aside, my only real complaint is the quality of the picture. I didn't expect HD quality, but it is a bit "fuzzy" and all of the greens come through as a rather light pink. Trees, bushes, lawns, all of it, pink. There is a vague reference in the instructions to "taking out the velum on the lens before use," but for the life of me I can't figure out what the velum is or if it is even present to be removed, so this mysterious "velum" could be why the picture quality is lacking. For the price, the picture quality is a little disappointing, but I'm only looking at the picture when I'm backing up, so it isn't too big of a deal.

Pros: Length of wire plenty long enough, adjustability, install.

Cons: Poor instructions and picture quality.

Crutchfield response on 8/16/2016 Velum is the thin removable film that camera manufacturers place over the lens to prevent them from scratching during transit.

A Great Product, Easy To Install

Gene S. from Cashmere, WA on 6/25/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What i liked most about this product is that there was enough wire for the install on my long truck.

Pros: I hooked this camera up with my new touch screen radio. the camera works great. i would love to see them make the camera with audible sound that you can hear through your speakers when backing up.

Cons: Wasnt sure about all the extra little wires coming out of the installation wire and the instructions were not clear.

Nicolas from Morgantown, WV on 1/21/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was rather skeptical about buying this camera compared to some others that I have found, but I decided to bite the bullet and purchase it anyways. I have no regrets. The camera stays lined up perfectly and I can still adjust it even when it is mounted. I've got a very wide viewing angle, both vertical and horizontal. And the lines that indicate how close I am to the object behind me, and even when in the red, I still have approximately one foot left. The picture is great. The lines are clear. Color is perfect. Sunlight barely glares and I can see like daytime at night. I love it. The only downside was the fact that the instructions showed numerous diagrams on different mounting instructions and the wording for each diagram was lacking a lot.

Pros: Wide viewing angle. Great picture. Distance markers are very handy. Great picture in full sunlight and pitch black.

Cons: Directions were lacking in wording, pictures compensated but still left a bit of confusion behind.

Great product. Clear, easy to install and I can see at night! Works well with the GMC Acadia!!!!! Best feature I have installed on my vehicle!

Pros: Infrared, easy to install!!

Cons: Power supply cable of 17 ft not long enough to reach the head unit from the rear of the vehicle once tucked away.

Overpriced

Jon from New Jersey on 12/18/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just too expensive. You can find similar cameras elsewhere for a fraction of the price. At this price point, would hope for decent instructions at least. Still unhelpful gibberish written in China. At least it was fairly easy to figure out just by looking at it. All that said, it seems like a sturdy camera and puts out a decent, wide angle picture. Hopefully it lasts at least. Bottom line, I would rather spend less money elsewhere and if it breaks, I could still buy 2 more and still spend less than this.

Pros: Sturdy appearing construction; easy to mount with nice 3M adhesive foam; decent picture with guidelines

Cons: More expensive than it should be, by a lot; terrible instructions that are no help at all

Great Backup Camera

2ndRodeo from Michigan on 8/7/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this camera to use for my 2002 Lexus LX470. After doing a bunch of research, I chose the Optix camera because it has the distance lines, it has a super wide angle view, and it has little lights on it for better night vision. I installed it using a video interface module that allows me to display the backup camera image on my factory nav screen when I shift the vehicle into reverse, which is awesome and the picture looks great. The night vision is superb too, much better than I would have guessed.

Pros: Picture, Night Vision, Price for what you get

Cons: Instructions were a little vague

Good camera

JMB386 from Virginia on 7/5/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice little camera. Installed on a 2001 Camry LE. Hooked up the camera to a Soundstream VR-64H2B. Worked as soon as I installed both. The only problem I had is that I accidentally severed the camera cable while cutting a slot for the camera wire over the license plate of the Camry. I stripped all the wires (very fine, like telephone wires), soldered/shrink tubing all, and the camera seems to work fine. Nice grid lines from the camera.

Pros: Worked right away, easy installation

Cons: None to date

Features

Rear-View Camera: The Accele RVC910IR rear-view camera provides you with a clear wide-angle view behind your vehicle. It can be used to assist you in backing up the vehicle, or to keep an eye on an item you are towing. It can be connected to a separate rear-view monitor, or to many in-dash head units with a composite video or rear-camera input.

Note: This rear-view camera is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Wide Viewing Angle/Low Lux: The RVC910IR offers 165° vertical and horizontal viewing angles, providing an excellent field of vision behind the vehicle. The camera's infrared (IR) LEDs provide additional light, resulting in the camera's minimum illumination rating of 0.3 lux.

Parking Assistance: The camera features a three-color grid to assist backing into a parking space. The grid features green, yellow, and red lines to help you determine how close you are to an obstacle. The grid lines can be turned off by shorting the two green "Parking Line" wires together. (They should be shorted when the camera is turned off.) The camera does not have a proximity sensor or audible warning system.

Automatic Turn-On: The RVC910IR features automatic rear-view turn-on. This means that when you place your vehicle in reverse gear, the rear-view camera will automatically turn on to view what is behind your vehicle on your in-dash monitor. The rear-view camera's power wire must be connected to your vehicle's reverse lamp circuit.

Waterproof Housing: The rear-view camera features a IP67 waterproof housing.

Integrated Mounting Bracket: The RVC910IR's integrated mounting bracket allows you to flush-mount the camera to your vehicle. The camera should be mounted to the underside of your vehicle's rear bumper or other horizontal surface (with mounting bracket facing up). The mounting bracket allows you to angle the camera up or down.

Connections: A single 6' cable is attached to the camera. The signal/power cable connects to the camera cable via the proprietary plug. The signal and power wires run together for 8", then separate.

  • Power: there are two red power wires, shorted together, so either can be used; one is routed with the ground wire (5.75'), the other is a 6" extension attached to the RCA plug
  • Ground: 5.75' black ground wire
  • Signal: 17' composite video output cable, terminated with a male RCA plug; plugs into your dash monitor or in-dash head unit's composite video-camera input
  • Parking Line: two short (1") green wires attached to the camera cable; when shorted together the parking lines on the camera's image are removed
  • Mirror Option: two short (1") white wires attached to the camera cable; when shorted together the camera's image is reversed (left to right)
