About the Accele RVCLPMBS

Alexander H.

A fit for your license plate

Looking for a tidy backup cam solution? With their RVCLPMBS rear-view camera, Accele reengineered their best-selling cam to cover less of your car's license plate — its low-profile bar-style housing will blend nicely for a factory look. Once you power the camera and run the included 23-foot video cable to the screen up front in your dash, you'll see a plentiful wide-angle view when you're backing up your vehicle. The CCD-based color camera shows a clear image even under extreme low-light conditions.

Features

Backup Camera: The Accele RVCLPMS Rearview Camera is designed to provide you a clear wide-angle view from the rear of your vehicle. It can be used to assist you in backing up the vehicle, or to keep an eye on an item you are towing. It can be connected to a separate rear-view monitor or to many in-dash receivers with a composite video camera input.

Note: This camera is meant as a visual aid only; never solely rely on the camera. In addition to using the camera, always physically look to make sure everything is clear around your vehicle.

Compatibility: The Accele RVCLPMS rearview camera features a standard composite video output (RCA plug) which makes it compatible with virtually any mobile video monitor featuring a composite video camera input.

1/3" Color CCD: The RVCLPMS' rearview camera features a 1/3" color CCD image sensor with approximately 259,776 effective pixels (528 horizontal x 492 vertical). The rearview camera offers a 170° vertical and horizontal viewing angle providing an excellent field of vision behind you in your vehicle. The rearview camera provides minimum illumination 0.1 lux.

Parking Guidelines: The camera features a three-color grid to assist you in backing into a parking space. The grid features green, yellow, and red lines to help you determine how close you are to an obstacle. You can cut the thick white wire loop to turn off this feature.

Mounting Bracket: The RVCLPMS attaches to your vehicle's existing license plate frame with its integrated metal mounting bracket (screws not included).

Supplied Cables: The rearview camera features an attached 2' power/signal cable which connects to the supplied 23' composite video cable and 3' power/ground cable. The composite video cable is then routed from outside of the vehicle through your vehicle's interior to your vehicle's display monitor or optional stand-alone monitor. The power/ground cable needs be connected to your vehicle's 12-volt electrical system.

Q
Was working fine and randomly flipped the video upside down. How do I fix it?
jason  Apr 09, 2019

A
If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. They can walk you through the settings on the product and see if there may be a fix. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. If you did not purchase the unit from Crutchfield, then you may want to contact the manufacturer.

Q
The image from this camera is tilted to one side on my car. Is there a way to adjust a tilt like this?
hal  Mar 22, 2019
2 answers
A
Being tilted can only mean your camera is not level. If it is level and still a tilted view then there is a internal tilt in the camera housing. If less then a year this would be a warranty issue. I do need to add my same camera lasted just over 1 year, and Im assumed the integrity was compromised because of water getting inside. It stopped working after going through a carwash. I called for a warranty replacement and because it was 1 - 2 months outside of 1 year, Crutchfield would not warranty. Because of this I replaced with a cheaper version.
mike  Mar 22, 2019
A
If it's tilted a full 90° then I'd say you have a bad unit. MIne needed a little fine tunig because the license plate screws mounted in plastic retainers that were worn. I used a drill to wallow out the adjustment slots and then used lock washers under the screws to really clamp the camera down in a level orientation. That fixed my adjustment issue and the thing hasn't moved since, 2 years later.

Q
2000 mercedes s500 How do I know if the Command unit has an RCA jack? Do I have to pull the unit out? Or is there a schematic that would indicate?
catherine  Mar 18, 2019
4 answers
A
I don't know the answer. I bought the camera to go with a Kenwood stereo.
bruce  Mar 27, 2019
A
You can either pull the deck out. Or easiest would be to contact your local mercedes dealer and ask them.
jerry  Mar 27, 2019
A
It's pretty easy to take out and that is what I would do. Or put your specs in online and see if the unit has an online manually to check. If it is there install was fairly easy.
paul  Mar 27, 2019
A
A schematic should show you, yes, but finding one can be a trick. Give it a shot If you haven't already scoured the forums and Google searches for info on the head unit in that car. Call Mercedes for info or maybe a 3rd party car stereo installer. If you can't get a definitive answer, pics or schematic then you're gonna have to pull the head unit to find out.

a screen or monitor of some kind to get video of backup view
anthony  Dec 11, 2018

A display. Depends on your vehicle. I suggest that you speak with someone at Crutchfield sales and/or technical support and they should help guide you with your purchase.

I am not the guy to ask for what it will work on. I installed on a muscle car with advanced stereo euqip. The actual camera itself will mount to lic plate carcass. It is universal
jason  Dec 04, 2018

If the connections are the same, it should. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer for a question like this.

Q
Will this camera work with the in-car display on an 2011 Audi Q5 2.0?
susan  Aug 25, 2018
2 answers
A
Sorry; no. This is an aftermarket camera that uses a standard composite video (RCA) connection for use with compatible aftermarket stereos/monitors. At this time, we do not have an aftermarket camera that can connect to the stock display in your Audi.
ryan  Aug 30, 2018 (Staff)
A
I'm sorry but I can't answer that question. I purchased a new car radio/display and the rear camera both from Crutchfiels and had them installed in my new car; 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. An after market upgrade and boy did I save money and get exceptional quality for the price. They both work perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the purchase to date.

Q
Will this camera works with JVC KW-V830BT?
gregory  Jun 18, 2018

A
Yes. Both your JVC and this camera use the composite (RCA) connection for video.
ryan  Jun 20, 2018 (Staff)
A
I know it works on my Kenwood ddx9903s. As long as your receiver has the hookup for it, you're good. Also, if you want to view your camera while driving, hook your power wire up to a switched 12 volt instead of your backup lights.
christopher  Jun 18, 2018
Q
Will this camera work with 2012 stock camry headunit?
charles  Jun 04, 2018

This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.

You can use it where your tag goes if in front then I suppose

I do not see why not. Let me know how it works... It is the best back up cam i could find a a fair price. Best in low light.
ed  May 29, 2018
A
the directions are based on working with the vehicle being placed in reverse. I do not know how you would set your screen to function with the vehicle in drive vs reverse.
thomas  May 29, 2018
A
Yes, but why? It's a clear image. You'll be satisfied
jeremy  May 29, 2018
A
I do not see why not as long as you head unit has the proper hook ups and you can get power to it.
kenneth  May 23, 2018

Q
Is the camera adjustable like the Jensen models?
vicki  Feb 22, 2018
3 answers
A
I'm not familiar with the Jensen. The only adjustments available are the tilt of the camera, there's a set screw that tightens it down once positioned the way you want it (we left ours straight ahead on a Trailblazer and had an impressive view). You can also clip a small looped wire to remove the guide lines on screen. I cut it to remove them because the head unit we had added it's own guidelines that were adjustable. I'd definitely recommend this because of the clarity of the image and the metal bracket. This thing is solid.
jeremy  Feb 23, 2018
A
No
christopher  Feb 22, 2018

hal  Mar 22, 2019
A
No, it will not.
lasandra  Aug 26, 2018

The camera is made very slim and should not cover any more of the license plate than a standard mounting frame.

Will this automatically trigger when I put my vehicle in reverse? Connecting it to a aftermarket head unit
derek  Aug 31, 2017

A
yes. pull your camera power right from the back-up light and the head unit should have an extra wire to connect in as well, mine will automatically sense the signal and switch to video input mode though (Kenwood receiver).

A
Yes it will
kevin  Sep 03, 2017
