The safety of those behind your vehicle depends on you having a good view when you're backing up — especially when something's too small to be seen with your regular mirrors. Accele's RVCLPMB rear-view camera mounts on the top or bottom of your license plate to make sure you can get the full picture, from the best angle. You can even swivel the little camera in its housing for a better shot.
The sleek water-resistant metal case almost disappears on your license plate frame, adding a cool stealthiness to the design. The CCD-based color camera shows a clear image even under extreme low-light conditions.
Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you. It is not intended as a replacement for your mirrors.
Pretty easy to install, seems like a good value to me.

Average Customer Review(s):
Good quality but poor placement of wiring at the camera
Pros: Great picture
Cons: Poor placement of wire on the camera
Pretty easy to install, seems like a good value to me.
Pros: Good picture easy to install
Cons: The wiring comes out of the bottom. I think it would be much better if it came out the top, but not a big deal for me.
Picture isn't very clear.
Pros: Fairly easy to install.
Cons: Cut out for the wire means you either pinch the wire or install the thing on the bottom screws if you have them. Picture quality is only decent in certain light. Not good at all in sunny or dark light.
The 23' cable was great for installing on my 11 sierra crew cab. Nice pic on my kw9703s
Pros: I can see behind my vehicle clearly now. No second guessing
Chrome finish looks great. Adjustable camera position and large field of view. Instructions leave much to be desired.
Pros: Easy to install
Directions are not clear but its still fairly simple to connect. If your not good at wiring dont attempt.
Works great! Good picture, I haven't decided weather I will keep the "lines" in the picture or not. If you don't want them you simply cut a wire and they go away. I like that the included RCA cable had a built in 12 volt wire inside of it. This way you only have to tap into your back-up lights, you don't have to go searching under your dash for the signal wire going back to the back-up lights. The less cutting/splicing into factory wiring the better IMO.
Pros: Good picture. Good in low light. RCA cable has built in "sister" wire for 12 volt feed to head unit.
Cons: None yet
I added this back up camera to my ram pickup and I love it good viewing simple to add, would recommend ...........
I installed this on an F-250 Super Duty. Easy to install and came with plenty wire to reach the dash. Love this item and price was reasonable.
Great product , camera quality good, if you don't understand instructions
Pros: Good instructions
Cons: Time consuming install
I am on my second camera the first one was under warranty and I got it replaced due to fuzzy picture. The replacement camera lasted just past the warranty and started getting fuzzy also. I looks like there is a fog bank behind me. I do not recommend this camera.
Pros: easy to install
Cons: I have had two that didn't last.
Pros: WORTH THE PRICE WORKS GREAT
Installed on 2007 Nissan Maxima. Image quality is good. Doesn't allow as much tilt of camera as I would like for this car. The cable for the camera inside the bracket keeps you from being able to tilt the camera too much up or down. I ended up taking the mounting bracket apart and flipping the bracket upside down and gave myself another couple of degrees of tilt (needed to be lower). More than acceptable now but not perfect. Overall pleased.
Pros: Takes a nice picture - resolution is good.
Cons: Angle of camera not overly adjustable
This is a horrible camera. The perspective & guides are completely off with no adjustment possible. I don't know why the sales representative recommended this camera. I would have been happy to have bought a more expensive camera that did the job properly.
Cons: Horrible perspective view guides have no relevance. too late to change after installation.
Replaced a Monsoon factory radio in 2006 Pontiac G6 with Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS head unit. This camera was easy to install. The extra wire on each end of the video cable was very helpful. Hooked the extra wire into the reverse light instead of having to find the trigger lead in the shifter.
Pros: Extra lead in video cable for camera trigger in reverse.
Works well so far, clear video and good color. Easy to install, looks better than having a little box for the camera. Like the swivel of the camera, can get it just right, others don't do that. The backup guide lines are colored, helps with depth perception, good idea.
Pros: Good video, sharp, good color, depth perception, ease of install, adjustable camera
Works well thus far
Pain to install with no derections
Cons: Needs Better directions
It has instructions that are as complete as they need to be; you really need the instructions of your dash unit; OR call our friends at CRUTCHFIELD as they are the GURUS of the Installation World! The unit works well, the lines on the screen are removable but they seem to be 3 and 5 feet away in my installation and that can be a help when you're parking. Get it, you won't regret it! Don't forget the added value of being a Crutchfield customer, help isno further away than a phone call, email, or chat.
Pros: All around good deal!
Cons: None, really.
Can't beat it for the price. Installed on a 2010 Silverado in under 30 minutes. Works great with my JVC-AV61 head unit. Great for hooking up trailers.
Pros: Easy to install Clear resolution Option to take off back up lines with a snip of a wire Adjustable camera angle
For hooking up a back up camera very easy attach and wire.
Pros: Easy to hook up
Back up lines are a plus and can be removed by clipping a wire! Resolution is good, works well in the dark. Good price, works great with my Pioneer AVH-3800BHS head unit.
Pros: The power cord for the backup signal is inlcuded in the RCA wire; which is perfect, You only have to run the one wire from the rear camera to the radio. Camera angle is adjustable. Backup lines are useful.
The camera is a nice idea, but on a pickup truck it won't work on the lower part of the license plate and blocks the month and year renewal on the top part (which gives the authorities an opportunity to write a ticket). Recommend you look at a backup camera that mounts on the top of the license plate, but with shorter sides.
Cons: Blocks month and year of standard license plate.
Poor viewing quality. Started to rust within a couple of months. Unit died a year later.
Pros: Looks nice. Easy install.
Cons: Easily rusts. Not a quality build.
I like the design, It's slim and fits right under the lip of the handle for my trunk. Camera easily adjusts to the way you want it when looking on the screen to back out. Clear picture. Can get a little hard to see if the sun or street light is facing the camera but you are still able to see what is behind you. Easy to hook up to screen. Did not come with screws to mount, I had to use my license plate screws which was fine.
First class piece of kit, looks awesome and works very well, Recommend.
Good picture and viewing angle, nice chrome finish and aesthetic. Was pretty easy to get setup and wired even though I had to do a bit of customizing(zip ties lol) to mount it to my bumper as my spare tire blocks my real license plate mount. The red wire imbedded in the video wire made life SO much easier. Would recommend
Cons: arrow was backward so camera was upside at first, video cable cheesey and had to replace
Pros: stylish, easy to mount
Cons: wish it came with some sort of security screws
Excellent camera... great day or night. Best aftermarket I've seen
Pros: Excellent clarity and very clear at night
Camera quality is great makes me feel safer.
A very good camera at a great price. Go 170 deg view
Pros: Easy to mount, easy to wire, all components are first rate
has nice color.clear picture
Cons: poor directions
Pretty strait forward install, worked right away. Picture quality seems pretty good, for the price.
Pros: Comes with all you need to hook it up.
Cons: My licence plate light cause a glare using at night. But it's just had location of light / camera area, adjusting down lower helped, but no way around getting completely away from it. But cam does work as it should.
This camera is a good alternative to a factory set up. It is bright and clear at night. It works great during the day as well. I like the lines for guidance although you can get rid of them with the simple clip of a wire. The video cable included has the wire required for power integrated , which makes it easier to install. I did not mount it on the tailgate because of the large hole required to fit the wiring through. I installed it over the step in the bumper and ran the wiring up through the rear body panel just inside by the tailgate striker. This camera is one I can certainly recommend. Installation was fairly easy and it well constructed.
Pros: Good price, clear video picture, brightness adjustment , complete wiring with integrated power / video cable.
Cons: You need to drill a fairly large hole for installation.
This unit has different colored indicator lines'
Camera worked OK. Not near as clear as I would expect.
Pros: At least I have a backup camera.
Cons: Not as clear as expected. I wish there would have been easier to read instructions. After closely reading you CAN adjust the angle of the camera. The backup zones appear to conflict with my Kenwood (2 zones appear when in reverse)
The camera works perfectly. I did have to trim the ends of the mount so that they didn't obstruct the registration stickers required by my state.
Pros: Low profile.
Cons: I did have to trim the ends of the mount so that they didn't obstruct the registration stickers required by my state.
Works ok when warm. I have noticed that when I park in the shop it works fine but at 32 degrees it stops working.
Pros: I can see behind me in the summer
Cons: I can't see behind me in the fall, winter or spring.
Looks great on my car can barely notice it. It was very easy to hook up. The picture is nice and clear day or night. If it rains the picture obviously becomes questionable. If I can figure a way to keep the water off it would be perfect.
Pros: Great picture, easy install, hides well on my car.
Cons: Cant see when its raining.
I installed this and connected to a newly installed Kenwood DNX892 as my car did not have a backup camera from the factory. Very easy and straight forward installation. I was able to remove my license plate light assembly and run the wire through that hole then replace the assembly with a slight notch in it for the wire. This was perfect for me as I am not a fan of drilling holes in the body of my car.
Pros: Simple installation and minimal modification required to my car. Easy way to add backup camera to an older car that did not have that option new. Good clear picture.
Cons: Wire length was short for my car, I had to run under the passenger foot well carpet to reach radio. This was probably do to the way I routed to stay with factory wire harness in the area.
Would have prefered a more factory looking flush mount camera, but it was not possible for my application. This camera does look nice and has a good, clean picture. It was easy to install and has worked flawlessly so far.
Pros: Nice camera. Works as advertised.
Cons: None so far
Easy to install but had a tough time getting from the front of the vehicle to the rear of the vehicle with the wire included. Clarity on the camera is better than I would have expected but I was disappointed that the guide lines (on screen) don't lead you straight back. They are tilted to the right and there is no way to adjust. Up/Down adjustments are very easy. Knowing what I know now, I would have bought another camera but this one isn't so bad that I would pay for another camera at this time.
Pros: ease of installation, clarity of camera. The biggest 'pro' is the guidance provided by the Crutchfield team. I don't have enough space to explain how helpful they were with the installation and follow-up to the installation. Crutchfield has a VERY knowledgeable support team and they come in handy!
Cons: amount of wire included and guide lines on screen are off-center
The camera has a good picture. It does not have any warning sounds. Bright clear picture. Easy to install. You may need longer license plate bolts in order to attach it to a plate cover. I had to remove my plate cover and attach it directly to my license plate.
Pros: Clear picture. Easy install.
Cons: The wires should have a small connection somewhere so you don't have to drill such a large hole to get the wires through if you don't have an access point large enough.
Camera works like it should. Seems to be made to last. No issues after 2 months of use.
Pros: Easy install. Picture looks good with my Kenwood unit.
Cons: Wished the camera tucked beside the tail gate handle instead of mounting on the tag (looks bulky).
Just received the camera and installed it. I have to say overall I am pleased, picture is ok but a little fuzzy.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Picture is a little fuzzy
Slick little camera, easy to install.
Easy to install, good picture - just works.
Pros: Easy to install, good picture, 'range finder' lines on display (can be disabled by clipping a wire that is clearly labeled).
Cons: No cons. This thing just works.
There is very little instructions had to use Crutchfield chats to figure it out. For this reason I am giving it a lower review. It seems to function well and video looks good.
Pros: Solid camera, like the grid lines built in. Sees well in dark.
Cons: Poor instructions
Installed this unit and the Monitor Accele LCDP43LW with it. Took me about 12 hours in a Toyota Venza. You better know what your doing removing panels and hooking up wiring for these units. Works great, wife loves it, and it was for Christmas for her!
Pros: Easy to use and adjust. Great view for the rear of the vehicle.
Cons: Allow yourself lots of time to do this install.
Works great. Easy to install. My only installation challenge was remembering to program the radio set to tell it the camera was there. Tech support at Crutchfield was there to help. The tech support at Crutchfield is Awesome!! The best tech support I have ever encountered.
Pros: Works as expected. Easy to install. Picture is clear.
This is a great camera and the warning bars are with a flashing STOP in the red area. On the back of my F 150 it gets a little dirty so I put window polish on the lens. This help with keep grim and condensation from fuzzing up the view.
Pros: Great for what I need, better then the Peak back up system.
For getting free can't really complain. Easy hook up. But the video quality could be better
Pros: East hook up. Simple mounting
Cons: A little fuzzy video quality.
This is just the best! So great to have such a wide clear view with a sound warning if I get too close to anything. Love it and would recommend it.
Superb, love it. Would definitely recommend
Cons: Everything. Can see great and no problems
This is a... decent camera for the price. It's way too bulky though in my opinion, but does seem very solid (all metal housing). Covers up my registration sticker. The instructions sucked. When there are numerous misspellings on the packaging, it kind of gets me worried about the quality of the product. It's a simple product that you can figure out everything with trial and error. Picture quality is... meh.
Pros: Solid metal construction. Simplistic design.
Cons: Picture quality is meh. Instructions sucked. The limited instructions included on the packaging contains multiple misspellings. Way too bulky.
Great quality , great price!
Pros: Won't break the bank
The camera was easy to install. The picture is grainy . It's does work at night and is a great help to hook up my rear hitch trailer. No more arguing with the wife. Had to mount it on the tailgate because I couldn't see the hitch when mounted at the license plate.
Pros: Nice long cord and the distance lines.
Cons: Grainy picture, has to be mounted one side up so the bracket has only one notch cut in it for the cord.
This was included for free, with the purchase of a Kenwood head unit, so I wasn't expecting it to be TOO nice. I'm impressed so far, the picture is better than expected, and in color. The added wire, built into the RCA plug connecting to the head unit, is a very convenient way to give the head unit a signal - I connected that wire and the power wire for the unit to the reverse lights. The only thing I don't like is that it covers up too much of the top of license plate. I vertically elongated the plate's mounting holes, allowing the plate to drop down some, so that the state lettering at the top of the plate is not totally obscured.
Pros: - FREE (with some head units, at this time) - Color picture - Picture quality - Nice broad view from the camera - Easy to wire
Cons: - obscures top of license plate
Looks to be well made. Image is high quality.
Pros: Well made
Cons: none so far
The camera worked great until I needed to permanently install the unit. During pre-install checks it worked great, but when I needed to install the camera the plugs were really bulky so I clipped the wires and soldered/heat shrinked the connections to slip them through a much smaller hole in the tailgate of my 2001 Land Cruiser. It never worked again. Tech support could not tell me why so now I have a $80 worthless camera. BTW - I have over 20 years of experience soldering and repairing electronics. I should have just returned the unit when I saw the installation issue, but I always try to make stuff work... my bad.
Pros: good picture
Cons: Need a giant hole in your car to fit the plugs. Do not clip the wire and reconnect as it will damage the product.
Very good camera, just as good as OEM.
Pros: Heavy duty camera, nice resolution and good night visibility.
Cons: The design could be a little more pleasing to the
Quality product with poor documentation. It took a couple of calls to Crutchfield's excellent tech-help-line to get me comfortable enough to dive in, but in the end the product worked very well. To be fair, the documentation provided was not from Crutchfield, and maybe they're working on creating some of their own, which would resolve all questions.
Pros: It worked right away.
Cons: A little pricey compared to other similar products - but they don't come with Crutchfiled's excellent support!
Great video quality, even in low light
Cons: Rca cable was too short for my 06 Sequoia, had to buy extension.
Pros: it's a cable - works as expected
Installed on 1998 GMC Sierra Z71 pickup. Camera works as expected and has a good picture. Well satisfied. Connected to a Jensen VX7012.
Pros: Installs easily on license plate and operates like it should.
Cons: Nothing on the camera itself. Crawling under my vehicle to run wiring and finding somewhere to enter the cab of my truck with the wiring was a little aggravating. I went through the grommet that the gear shift cable runs through and that seemed to work out pretty good.
had no trouble installing unit works great with the Jensen vx3022
Pros: great picture
Cons: had to loosen the plate as the cable was pinched and cause the loss of picture
Overall I like the quality of the picture from the Accele RVCLPMB backup camera. It's not very aesthetically pleasing as it sits on top of the license plate and also covers part of my plate where the registration stickers are placed. Install was a bit tricky on my 2007 Toyota Sequoia as the license plate is on the lift gate, and the lift gate has a window that lowers into the door.
Pros: Good quality image.
Cons: Covers up part of registration sticker on plate. Tricky install on lift gates.
The first camera I received was missing the two adjustment screws. Crutchfield support was spot on and replaced the camera for complete unit very quickly. The camera itself is very easy to install and works very well.
Pros: Easy install and works great.
GREAT CAMERA BUT IF USED ON ANY CAR WITH BULB OUT SYSTEM DO NOT USE THE BACKUP LIGHT FOR THE POWER TO THE CAMERA OR YOU WILL NOT LIKE THE RESULTS, POWER LINE NOISE WILL BE PRESENT IN THE PICTURE!!! A BETTER WAY IS TO USE THE RED WIRE IN THE CABLE TO POWER THE CAMERA!!!! IT IS EASY TO FIND A POWER SOUCE AT THE HEAD END !!! I USED THE POWER AMP LINE FROM THE HEAD UNIT!! IT WORKS GREAT AND NO NOISE IN THE IMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Works great, good picture and easy to install
Pros: Easy to install for anyone
Works as expected. Easy to see what is behind the vehicle. Easy to adjust. Installation was time consuming because of having to run all the wires and hide them. It was not difficult, just time consuming. I also looked at some onlinee videos prior to install and that helped a lot because there are very little instructions that come with the camera.
Pros: great view and works well
Cons: installation time but worth the install savings
Very nice unit, so much sturdier, better picture etc than another cheaper one I bought for the other car. Bolted up in seconds (which means can come off just as fast so I'm working up another way to make it more difficult to remove), plenty of cable for a F350 long bed pickup, instant "on" with great picture. Can't go wrong with this unit.
Pros: Lenghty of cable, sturdy housing, excellent picture.
Cons: easy on means easy off if someone wants it (and is willing to cut the cable)
Simply easy work like a champ.
This is the second one we've installed for the same customer on an additional van - they're First Responders and are very pleased with it's performance - it's not as good as a factory part but it's the next best thing!
Pros: Ease of installation and performance.
Easy to mount. Very clear. Great visability at night. All around great product
Great service and product
Camera works as advertised. Installation was ok, and rotation helps with alignment.
Pros: Works well in low light conditions
Cons: better instructions, price a little high for quality.
Good unit. I use it to line up the ball hitch with the different trailers I tow. It took a bit of getting use to and adjusting the contrast and tint to be able to see what is going on
Pros: Once adjusted and with a little practice I can line up the ball with the hitch pretty well
Cons: The picture is not very clear, more on the fuzzy side even after playing with the tint and contrast adjustments.
Works great, clear view through my Pioneer Navi receiver.
Pros: Looks clean when installed, clear view.
Unit works well with Pioneer Radio
Pros: Can see well left and right, I like the grid lines gives you perspective on where you are, I can back up to trailer see the ball and line up in one try!
Cons: Finish, The winter snow chemicals take finish off! The very first time it gets on it...
Camera ok quality, but the thing covers part of the state name on licence plate so it isn't allowed.
Pros: Clear, cheap.
Cons: To long for the plate.
Great camera for the money. Mounted on center of the underside of my bumper on my 2015 Jeep Unlimited. Broad angle of view. You could spend more on a camera but why when this camera does everything you'll need.
Pros: Works well in the dark like the grid lines camera swivels so you can mount in different locations
I have had it installed for a week and it seems great so far. I like the guidelines, but need to adjust the angle to make the red/yellow/green lines make any sense. Or just get used to them.
Pros: Very clear, bright, wide angle picture. Frame seems to be durable metal construction & good looking Straightforward installation, though instructions were not detailed Cable provided was long enough to route inside car to front in a Sequoia.
Cons: RCA plugs required a larger hole than previous camera and made routing the cable to front more difficult. Center contact snagged in a rubber conduit and broke off, but I was able to solder another RCA on. Notch in frame to allow cable to run under only allows for mounting on top of plate. I solved this by taking the four small screws out and flipping camera over. On my car, I wouldn't be able to get to the adjusting screws if I hadn't flipped it, so it solves both issues.
Great camera I just wish it was a wider image.
Excellent picture quality and distance marker lines
Pros: Great picture also in low light areas
Works great installed on my wife's car and she loves it
Pros: Easy install
Cons: None so far
I had it professionally installed in a Toyota (07) minivan. using a Jensen radio. It is not very clear nor bright. Part of this may be the tilt of the screen as the outside light glares on the view screen. It also is not very bright and just a bit grainy.
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: I can't see enough to make use of it.
Great at night and clear views.
Pros: Clear view and even at night with low lighting
Cons: Does not beap or change color when u r close to anything.
This is a great camera. I installed it on two different vehicles - My mom's and my wife's. Knowing the clientele I needed to make sure I had something that worked well and this one does.
Pros: Works great in sun and low light.
Cons: It needs to be mounted on the licence plate and thus is visible as an add on
Clear view, adjustable camera works well day or night
Pros: Fits right over to of license plate, looks good not over bearing and had clear image. Tech support was awesome!
Cons: Little bit of work to write in but doable.
Works great and good picture. Had in my truck for 5 months before I got around to 100% fixing it.. INSTALL: Everyone kept saying connect to reverse lights. Wasn't so simple. My reverse lights did not give enough power for the camera. I had to plug the power cable to the 12v trailer control plug on my truck (next to the camera) and then got extra wire I had laying around, about 2ft and connected it to the small rca red remote power wire so it could reach my reverse lights.. The camera gets enough power now and the remote wire connected to the reverse lights tells my screen when I put it in reverse.
I was looking for a good backup camera for my WRX. It has the biggest one of any car I have ever driven! After talking with the guys at Crutchfield, I decided on this one. I am so glad that they suggested it.....it works great.
Pros: Night vision. Easy install. Marker lines on the screen (they can be turned off)
Cons: Takes some time to get it adjusted
works great even in low light, was very easy to install, watched a YouTube video and then installed it 10 minutes later.
Pros: he's amount easy to attach to the stereo, bright clear image.
Cons: no cons as of yet....
Good looking product, good camera, easy to install, works gread, unbelievable at night.
Pros: Good price, easy installation, great addition, really helps me backing up.
Cons: It is sort of in the way of my lift back, but really isn't a problem.
The camera looks nice and works well, but I expected better quality for the price.
Pros: Nice finish. Works well. Image quality is good, even in the dark. You can disable the built in grids and annoying flashing "STOP" sign by cutting a little white wire.
Cons: The video wire broke when pulling it through the chassis. The wire is barely long enough to reach the front of a Honda Odyssey.
Good camera for the money. Guidelines that are superimposed on the rear view could be improved and we'd like to see Crutchfield offer better installation instructions but the overall experience and final result is good.
Pros: Good picture both day and night.
Cons: Guidelines which are superimposed on the camera view to aid in backing up appear to extend more towards the sky than level with the ground. Installation instructions were sparse.
Pros: works day an night
Cons: night could be clearer
The camera work well.
Pros: Camera has good picture when truck is not running.
Cons: Picture quality goes down the truck is running. I think vibration of the diesel engine causes the camera to shake and picture quality goes down.
This is the second camera I had to buy for the same vehicle. The first one stopped working and it was out of warrenty. Hope that was an isolated case because I am also putting one on my mustang in a few dats
Pros: Looks good
Cons: Picture not the greatest and reliability in question right now.
I'm in for a 5 star because you can't beat it for the money. Images are clear, sharp with good color. I have had to try a number of cameras and had to send them back. You won't send this one back.
Pros: Good color, sharp images
I have a suv, I am so happy I installed it . I back up into my dark garage and sew everything, tight spots... Its a must have for large vehicles, and ones that visiblity is not the greatest... I used to think it could be done without..not anymore.. Wanna put one in my 1994 camry as well!
Looks good for now. It does cover a bit of the license plate however. Works well!
This camera is a huge improvement over the model I had originally installed, Accele RVC50. Spend the extra $ and purchase the Accele RVCLPMB.
Pros: Clear Picture, decent in low light conditions, and easy to install using license plate mounts.
Cons: None yet.
Camera has a really good picture, but I have been through 2 in a year-they just don't last.
Pros: Good picture
Cons: Poor quality
Great camera, Love the looks of it. Love that it has the sceen bars just like the new vehicle's have.
Pros: Love the black chrome and stream-lined look. Price, Screen Bars
Cons: Wish the image was a little more clear and crisp.
Good picture , has lines to ad in backing up and knowing the distance .
Pros: Makes it easy to see under your line of sight ,makes backing up to trailer hassle free and able to judge when it's just right after make correct adjustments .
Cons: All metal insteed of plastic would hae been nice , but need to see how it hold up work truck .
This camera works great with my Kenwood stereo, After installing a Tonneau cover on my truck I could not see very well when reverse parking, this camera helped very much.
Great product. Very clear even in low light condition
No problems, works fine hardest part was figuring out the best wiring direction through the truck. Did take a little effort to figure out instructions. And what to and not to wire. But works good so far.
Pros: Exactly what I expected
Cons: Instructions are kinda vague.
Good picture, the imposed lines help in parking my big F350 Crewcab Pickup, I know where the rear of the pickup is.
Awesome couldn't ask for a better product
Pros: Awesome couldn't ask for a better product
Great back-up camera, easy to install
Pros: cost and ease of installation
Product arrived and was as described. I purchased this primarily for use as an assist while hitching to trailers. Now the hitch process is seamless. One shot and I am on the ball : ) Hooked the cam to an Edge Performance Juice w/ Attitude CTS display. Small screen but perfect for my purposes
Pros: Works great
Cons: None for my purposes.
Well I had to wait 6 months for the install as I had to have my Head Unit custom installed and a lot of other stuff done. I took it to a professional installer and it was non functioning. Loose converter or something. He wrote it on the receipt oh and he still charged me because he ran all the wires and stuff :<(
Pros: Looked really nice
The picture quality on this camera is great. The guide lines are a nice touch (you can disable them as well). Also the ability to run the reverse signal wire with the video helps. The overall installation on the other hand is horrid. The cabling is so thick at places and is not detachable which makes getting it into the car a real feat of patience and determination. I actually resorted to drilling a hole through the trunk lid to get it into the car. I suspect this is designed for an suv or a vehicle with some sort bigger license plate bulb opening.
Pros: great picture quality optional guide lines
Cons: installation is a pain wiring should be either detachable or smaller
Excellent color picture, even at night, adjustable from the display screen. Easy to install, took about an hour.
Pros: Picture quality
Works great and nice pic linked with my JVC KW-V20BT
Pros: Cable was long enough, nice pic. Only about 1 to 1.5 sec for camera to turn on and display once shift into reverse
Cons: Wiring, but you know that when you buy it. Easy to run wires just time consuming to make them look like a professional install, but wired is better than a wireless option.
Beware that the camera bracket is goi g to cover most state names on the tag, which is illegal in some states. Otherwise, no issues with the product.
Pros: Generally nice product
Cons: Directions are limited. Bracket covers top portion of tag.
I installed this along with a Sony DVD/ navigation system in my crew cab F350. Cable was plenty long enough. The picture looks great, however, I can't get the camera centered on my truck. It is offset by enough to inflict iritation of my OCD. I tried to slide it left and right and even put washers behind one side but it didn't help. Will check in with tech support tomorrow n
Pros: Cheap, good quality picture
Cons: Not centered
This unit was priced great and works great!
Pros: Easy to install. Came with all I needed. Works great, can see behind while backing.
Cons: Would be cooler if it was an entire frame for the license plate.
Good camera. I was hoping for a bit wider view, but spec on other cameras are even less wide. I can't see edge of bumper when backing up at an angle. But a view that wide just might be impossible
Pros: Clear view. Straight up install
Cons: I was hoping for even a wider view, but have nothing else to compare it to.
Great camera, easy to install, very clear picture. Hook right up to my pioneer head unit,
This is my first backup cam, but the picture quality is amazing. I am very happy with this. At night, the backup lights provide enough light for the camera to work really well.
Pros: Great Picture, works in low-light without infrared, low cost
Cons: covers the top part of the license plate that says "Georgia", don't know if this is legal or I will eventually get in trouble
Installed this on a customized 05 Mustang. The car already had blind spots and after the customization it had a lot less. Kind of joked that is was a go forward car only. Not anymore - the ranger of vision this camera picks up lets you see everything when you hit reverse and in color - really cool. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a rear view camera.
Pros: Comes with all the mounting hardware and connecting cables - I think it was 15 foot.
Cons: Could use a little more instruction on installation wiring - I've been in electronics for over 40 yrs but for a novice it is a very poor write up.
Accele RVCLPMB back up camera. Picture was garbled as new. Had to buy another brand unit and reinstall the other unit. Not recommended. I'm returning the unit today.
Cons: Picture was garbled as new. Had to buy another brand unit and reinstall the other unit. Not recommended.
Looks good our of the box, very contemporary an all that. But when I positioned it onto the license plate bracket, I discovered that it covered the state name. In Arizona that's illegal (since 2009). That's not Accele's fault, some/many states do not have that restriction and, had I been paying closer attention to the picture when I ordered it, the issue would have been readily apparent. I only post this review as an advisory to prospective buyers; check with your DMV before buying ANY license plate camera. BTW, customer service was very helpful with the return and emailed me a prepaid UPS label. No complaints at all.
Pros: Looks good, probably works fine.
Cons: Not legal in some states. Crutchfield might have mentioned that in the overview.
Very good camera, the picture quality is great!
Pros: I like the grid lines to help you gauge the distance!
Cons: There isn't anything I don't like about this product.
The only way this product could be better is if it had integrated (rear-facing) dashcam functionality!!
Pros: easy to install guide lines fish eye lens
TO SEE WHERE YOUR BACKING INTO HAS NO PRICE LIMITS!!
Pros: Easy install, small not an eye sore the RED MARKER on the screen PERFECT when to stop.
Easy to install. Needed more wire for my SUV, but it looks great and at night or in the dark it bright and looks great. And easy to adjust.
Pros: Easy to adjust and install.
Cons: Needed more wire.
Great little camera. Doesn't feel as cheap as I expected given the price. Hook up was a little confusing (had my backup lights on permanently for a minute) but I just had to slow down and think about it. Could use a little more in the way of directions though. Overall satisfied.
Pros: Good picture, decent quality
I which I know about this earlier. It's a great help for driving backwards. The best aid ever.
I thought I needed to spend much more to get a good rear picture, but based on Crutchfield sales recommendation, I gave it a try. The picture looks great on my 7 inch Pioneer screen. Night vision is surprisingly good too. Let's hope it is durable.
Pros: Night vision.
Good Camera for the price! This one has a better picture than the factory unit on my 2011 F150. Easy installation. Very nice all the way around.
I bought this camera for an 05 Subaru Outback. The install was relatively easy and straight forward. Though I did have to drill a hole behind my license plate to run the wires into the back hatch. Designed well, with a quality finish. Sturdy piece of equipment. Works great with my AVH-X8500BHS headunit. Picture is a little grainy, but for the price this is a great product.
Pros: Price On-screen Reverse Guidelines/Markers Straightforward installation
Cons: Grainy picture
Awesome little camera !
Pros: Easy to install, picture quality is far better than I expected.
Cons: Wishing the RCA connector was 5 foot longer ! it was a challenge to get it routed to the head unit on my 06 double cab Tundra with the 6.5 foot bed. additional length would have allowed for more options.x
Great when working but after a little heavy rain It stopped working
Pros: Only pros is crutchfields customer service they're sending out a new unit , but I'm gonna have to pay the shop to reinstall it again
This seems to works well.
Overall i am quiet impressed with the camera itself. Picture quality both in bright light and in the Dark is excellent. Installation can be a bit of a pain. Though not the fault of the product. Mainly due to the design of vehicle. I would buy this for my other cars. Much cheaper option than the dealer installed one.
Pros: Good Picture quality
Cons: None at this time.
This is a great back-up camera for my new Pioneer AVIC-X850BT. The video plugged right into the stereo. You can choose to use the grid lines with the camera or disconnect.
Great camera, but its installation covers up about half of the word Texas on the top of the license plate, which is illegal. I'm going to have to figure out some kind of raised mounting or maybe drill higher holes in my license plate to lower it.
Good quality and easy to install.
Pros: Quality and price
Cheap product for the price. I would have expected something better for the price paid for this item. All in all, save your money and either buy a better camera or spend less and buy something of similar quality.
Cons: 1. The ferrite filter is mounted on the cable in such a manner where it forces you to drill a hole much larger than necessary. I would have designed it to be installed with the filter downstream of the RCA connections. 1. Grainy video. Not particularly impressed
I love this camera. In my opinion, the image is good and extremely helpful.
Pros: Price. Quality. Looks good. Built well.
The camera and mount are aesthetically pleasing, but I advise you test it before running the supplied wire. Installed new Alpine in dash, connected ran supplied wired and hid all traces of installation, tried to set up camera and no picture. Wow. Never a problem with other brands I've purchased and installed in past. Will need to get replacement.
Pros: Good looking and simple install.
Cons: Needs to work?
Really like having this on my car, simple install and great picture. It makes backing my Z06 up a lit easier, especially in tight spaces or at night.
Pros: Great value, and great picture, especially for the price
Cons: It is something that goes the whole way across the license plate but i did not have a good place to mount a different type on my car.
Works. Really good , can see at nite very well. Nice camera. For the price
This camera gives a clear view of what is behind you and I can see the top of my trailer ball, which makes hooking up to a trailer a breeze. (I have an '06 Tacoma with a class II receiver.)
It does what it sais but has a grainier view than I would expect in 2013. The first one I got the video cable was faulty and I spent hrs trying to troubleshoot what I was doing wrong. Very frustrating.
Pros: If I put a campershell on my truck or decide to run it onto the back of my trailer it will be nice to have. It is functional.
Cons: First one was faulty. Grainy picture
Got the camera to pair it with my new pioneer app radio resolution is great but I have problem with it when it's raining outside you can't see anything unless you wipe off the lense.
This camera has a great picture, a wide viewing angle, and is great value for the money. You can undo the set screws and adjust the camera to the optimal viewing angle depending on what you want for your application. Works very well for hooking up trailers by yourself or making sure the kids are not behind you.
Pros: Easy to install, Great picture, Great low light picture, Great viewing angle, fantastic value for money.
Cons: Dark chrome coating not super high end.
Excellent camera kit! Be weary though the wiring is a bit tricky ...especially with the additional thin red trigger wire that is infused with the Yellow RCA jack... Pay attention..... it needs to be hooked to the reverse light in conjunction with the power cord!
Pros: Very Good Camera!
Cons: Wiring Instructions are no good!! I had to figure it out on my own!
Works great. The daytime picture is extremely clear. Nighttime picture is slightly blurring but still not bad.
Pros: Easy to install. Great picture quality.
Cons: The picture was upside down after installation. The camera comes with a big arrow indicating this side up. Either someone put the arrow on upsode down or the camera was assembled wrong. I had to install the camera with the arrow pointing down to get the picture right.
Installed camera in less than an hour. Excellent picture. Wiring could have been a little longer, just barely enough for extended cab F150.
Pros: Very crisp picture.
Cons: Had no extra wire.
Well I hate to admit this but with age comes less mobility so it is harder for me to turn around and look out the back windows to see also my disability interferes also. I bought this back-up-camera and I thought it would at least be a fair picture, well I was surprised the picture is nice and clear and undistorted very nice. This Camera really makes backing up a dream very nice looking also it just blends right in with the car and plate frame it has a nice finish on it and will weather nicely also. I sure am glad I read all the reviews of this camera they all say it is a really nice camera and I agree with the reviews
Pros: Looks nice, Blends in with the car contours, nice shiny finish, Small, Great picture, Clear picture, undistorted picture, NO blurring, See's far and near very clearly, has markings for green yellow and stop on screen telling you how close or far away you are,
Cons: I just can't think of any.
It's a great camera for the price. I was thinking of investing in a more expensive camera and doing a permanent custom install, but I was afraid I wouldn't get the right camera angle. After reading the reviews I'm glad I went with this. It's actually more of a "black chrome" finish, which is a plus since it doesn't look like your run-of-the-mill license plate back-up camera, and I love the adjustability of the camera angle. Some have commented on poor night quality but I disagree. Yes it's a bit grainy in the evening, (much like a regular photo camera would be in low light) but it's still much sharper than I expected.
Pros: Price is right, adjustable camera angle, nice finish.
Great value; Sharp image in low light.
Pros: Picture quality
This camera is what you would expect for the price. The picture quality is good enough for its purpose - any people/objects in the camera's field are clearly visible, and the delay for things to appear on screen is short. (Fraction of a second) My main gripe is that my unit came with a faulty RCA cable, of all things. It greatly increased the install time as I had to troubleshoot the problem - and of course the cable was one of the last things I checked. I bought a replacement RCA cable locally rather than call Crutchfield since I wanted to finish the install the same day - so that defect put me out a few extra bucks. Given the generic nature of the product, I'd assume defect rates are higher than the name brands - so if you're willing to risk it, this certainly is a good deal cheaper than the Pioneer/Kenwood cameras. This camera comes with range lines, which is nice, though you can disable that by cutting a cord if you prefer. Splicing the power line into the reverse taillight isn't fun, but not terribly complicated if you have Posi-tap connectors for the job. (This product should come with one!) Another plus is that it comes with a license plate bracket. If you want to mount on the license plate, this is an even better deal - as the name brands that offer plate brackets don't include them with the camera and charge an excessive amount for them. Buy a RCA extension cable if you have a larger car. The length of this cable wasn't sufficient for my Grand Caravan.
Pros: Price Range lines Comes with license plate bracket
Cons: Faulty RCA cable RCA cable too short for my minivan No posi-tap connector included
camera was a easy install, worked well with my head unit, image is clear night and day
the quality of the picure is very poor
03 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab LONG BOX and the wire made it to the license plate! Had my doubts... Resolution is great and the safety zones are awesome. Now I will use to parallel park this beast in Down town Seattle. Can also back up to trailer! Yes, pinch me.
Pros: Long cord, excellent resolution, adjustment options.
Cons: Wire comes out of bottom of unit instead of top or both. You have to run wire underneath camera on top of license plate. I might make my own hole to get this out of top.
it looks good hooked it up to a pioneer avh-x3500bhs in a f150 2010 stx super cab
Pros: color video and pic looks good
Cons: instructions are not detailed
i'm glad to have a cheap back up camera now, but it is very very very blurry... my 3mp camera takes better video... thought there was a clear film on it or something....
Pros: won't back up into a bike, motorcycle, light pole, cars... etc.
Cons: very blurry
Excelent Product .
Pros: Good vision day or night.
I had a professional installer put this in for me and connected it to my Soundstream VR-652NB radio, which I purchased from Crutchfield and installed myself. The installer commented that this was the best display from a back-up camera that he's ever seen; it surpassed even the Pioneer units they normally sell for much more money. I love it! The exceptionally clear picture, the meter bars that reflect how close you are when reversing, and the price make this the perfect camera.
Pros: Exceptionally clear picture Meter to show how close you are to an object Price
set the red, amber, green zone. I like it!
Pros: very clear image
Outstanding resolution with this camera. Very easy to install-took about 1 hour. Excellent product for a small amount of money.
Pros: Excellent Resolution
Very Nice Back Up Camera. Works Well In Most Applications And Has Guide Lines For Better Accuracy When Backing Up And Not $300.00 Or More
Pros: Guide Lines And Works Well In Most All Conditions And Cost Friendly
Cons: Night Time A Little Fuzzy But Not Enough To Discourage Me About This Unit And Wish It Had Adjustable Viewing Angles
After installing this camera along with the Kenwood Excelon DNX890HD in my wife's Dodge Grand Caravan, I can sum it up in a few short words. The wife loves it.
Very clear picture and helps keep you running over grandma's flowers!
Pros: Clear, compact, helpful
Solid product. Mirror finish with what appears to be a well protected cable. At first I wasn't sure I'd want the Green, Yellow, Red gradient on my display, but I find it helpful now that I have calibrated the distance it indicates to what is actual. Works very well in low light.
Pros: Nice sharp, clear color display.
Great video quality, and easy to install.
Pros: cheap, easy to install, and good video quality.
Cons: video quality is not as good in low light, but better than expected for the price.
This is a great camera for the price. It was easy to install and has not given me any problems yet.
Pros: Easy installation, acceptable picture quality.
Cons: Unable to install in top license plate mounting holes due to it covering the state name.
Great camera attached it to a JVC DVD Receiver, instructions leave a lot to be desired luckily didn't need too much. Picture is great quality cable length was plenty to get from Tailgate of 2009 Subaru Forester to the Receiver though had to disassemble all tailgate trim to get wires inside. I did need all of the vertical adjustment to get it to see low enough to help with parking.
Pros: Quality picture, decent price looks good.
Simple install, instructions are not detailed so some technical understanding is needed. Picture quality isn't the best but it is a backup camera not a bluray movie. Video cable is on the short end, although it was just long enough for my 2008 Colorado some bigger trucks will need a longer cable. Also the cable hole on the bracket so you don't pinch the wire was on the bottom so when mounting it on top of the license plate the cable is coming out of the bottom then wrapping around the top. I think they should have made a slot on both top and bottom for either mounting locations.
Pros: Looks great. Works great.
Cons: Picture quality. Vague instructions. No options in cable length.
Easy to install, and works perfectly. Could use more detailed instruction.
Pros: simple to mount, works great!
Cons: Instructions over simplified.
First, the instructions in no way instruct you as to the way to install this camera. Secondly, the video quality is less than expected.
Pros: Mounts easily
Cons: Everything else
Pros: you can see whatever you point it at. Camera works great at night.
Cons: Doesn't make toast.
Pros: Good picture
Cons: Wish they came with a zoom, lol
I love this camera. It has a great range. I mounted it on my 03 Sequoia and have had great success with it. It works wonderful with my new Pioneer deck. I like it because it is easily adjustable. The biggest thing is to get the viewing area exactly how you like it. I needed mine angled more downward to see things in my garage and when street parking. Others might want it angled higher to see kids playing behind them. Either option works wonderfully. I really like how slim and easy it mounts on my truck.
Pros: Easy of mount and angle range
Cons: None so far
Backup cameras should be a mandatory safety tool just like seat belts.
Pros: Good recommendation by tech rep and good choice by me
Cons: Takes some getting used to.
Excellent picture quality, great night vision as well.
Pros: wide range,acurate.
Awesome camera. Very clear image. The fisheye from the wideangle lens is a little bit to get used to. Installed in a 99 dodge ram quad cab long bed. Had plenty of wire in the kit. One part of crutchfield said it comes with 16' of cord and the other says 24'. I'm leaning more towards the 24' coming in the kit. Instructions are a little vague though. Took a little common sense, (and a working knowledge considering I'd just done it 2 days before). lol. All in all an awesome product and the perfect addition to any full size pickup as mine is on 35's and is about a chore to park on a good day. lol! That being said i recommend this to everyone in the market!
Pros: awesome picture even at night, adjustable, plenty of cord for full size long wheelbase truck,
Cons: vague instructions
Great picture, easy install, only con would be no directions or available PDF online.
Pros: Quality housing, great picture
Cons: None so far
Not a bad price for a stylish great working camera but if installing into a larger vehicle you will need a longer composite video cable (25' is what I needed on my 2500 quad cab)
Pros: Very stylish and useful
Cons: Cable not long enough and no type of detailed instructions for installation
easy to hook up. has lines displayed for easy of backup. hooks right to license plate with factory screws.
Pros: --comes with 16' cable
so far this is a great camera for the price. very durable feeling and has an attractive black chrome finish. the backup grids work very well and are accurate as i tested this on my trash can. install was a bit tricky on my 08' D.C. Tundra and i had to buy a 24' video cable (perfect length) as the 16' one that came with it did not even come close. the screen is crisp in the day and night is a bit snowy but comfortable visible. this looks great on my D.D. Pioneer 7" screen and now i have a bit more confidence backing up.
Pros: price, fit&finish, very good picture
Cons: NO INSTRUCTIONS and short video cable for trucks
Very nice color picture. No instructions in the box. Pretty intuitive to hook up. Crutchfield tech verified the connections. Easy to install. I would recommend it.
Great buy for the money, looks good and seems to be made of quality materials. Works great, no complaints. Wire up the camera before you install it, and save yourself 5 minutes turning it over. Don't be dicouraged by all of the cons, just want to inform of everything. Would definately buy again/recomend to a friend.
Pros: price looks easy install nothing fancy, does what it is supposed to great viewing angle
Cons: Can't tell which way is up on camera, but easy install makes up for that no paperwork, directions, or anything. just camera in box. Thank you tech help, Crutchfield customer service is outstanding. not picture quality clear like $200+ cameras, but it does job, and good enough to see anything on ground Cable just long enough to reach dodge ram quad cab
Great easy install super shape heave in my corvette with a z130 pioneer deck
Pros: Amazing, looks great with the car
Cons: At night not to shape cuz of my car
It is good looking and is made of quality materials. The video image is quite good. There is some image saturation when backing towards the sun. Although installation is pretty obvious, I was dissatisfied with the lack of any installation instructions regarding which way is up and whether or not the visible screws are for adjusting the up/down angle of the camera??? Still haven't tried the adjustment beacuse the image is not too far off in vertical adjustment. I think that angling it down somewhat would make the sunlight overexposure problem less pronounced. There is an overlay which appears on the image to indicate danger zones when backing, but no audible collision imminent warning as in the newer factory installed rear view camera / sensors.
Pros: Quality, Appearance
Cons: Lack of installation / alignment directions. Video saturation with strong light sources.
Very clear, color resolution on the pioneer dvd screen. 16 ft cable just barley long enough for extended cab, double cab buyers will probably need longer cable.
Pros: Very clear picture and easy to install
Cons: No intstructions,

My recollection: Only the yellow connector is an RCA connector, That one is for video feed to your display. The Accele RVCLPMB owner's manual indicates that you can cut the "thin white wire" to disable the parking guidelines. The physical range is about 20° up or down... Overall the camera is sharp and works well.[ Robert May 19, 2016 ]
More than adequate, I would say about there is a 35° adjustment with a small set screw to hold the set point.[ Henry May 19, 2016 ]
It does have the lines, and if you do not want them it is a simple matter of not connecting a single wire. (1 of 2 to the camera itself, the other being power) [ Josh Apr 09, 2016 ]
The camera only has power and video connectors. Any switching has to be done in the head unit.[ Cary Apr 02, 2016 ]
It does, however the white cable if cut removes the lines, from being seen. So it's up to you on how you want it installed.. I hope it helps... It function great no problems viewing it on my head unit...[ ED Apr 02, 2016 ]
It does. I have it connected to a kenwood nav unit and it works great.[ JOSEPH Apr 02, 2016 ]
It does have the parking lines but they do not move as you turn the steering wheel like some of the newer Oem units.[ William Apr 01, 2016 ]
Yes the camera does have the parking lines but there is a loop at the camera that you can cut if you do not want the lines. I have tested the distance for accuracy and it is fairly accurate[ GEORGE Apr 01, 2016 ]

It should work great for this. You can also set the angle so it will allow you to aim it right where you need it.[ MICHAEL L Jul 26, 2015 ]
Mine does![ Steve Jul 26, 2015 ]
I have noticed it really does not aim downward, it pretty much aims straight backwards but it is a little adjustable so you may be able to aim it down a bit. But it does focus in very well on items up close and personal, the center piece that is about a 1".5 long is a little lose and has screws on the back, it moves up and down a bit. Focus is really great and the camera work really well, I have had it for maybe two years and no problems of any kind, NONE I really like how clear it is!! and at night it is well lit up, I guess by the back up lights! This is Sleepersteve![ Steve Jul 26, 2015 ]
Very good depth of field - I have one on my SportTrac and use it to align the hitch. Works very well except at night, though you could add an auxiliary light - I've been thinking about doing that.[ STEVEN Jul 26, 2015 ]
I think so mine is very clear and I can see well. I don't have it point that far down but I believe you could get a good line on the hitch and tongue[ STEVE Jul 25, 2015 ]
I installed on 2011 Dakota, works fine.[ Richard Mar 10, 2015 ]
I do not know, sorry.[ JOE Feb 26, 2015 ]
I installed on a 350Z convertible. Worked great.[ JEREMY Feb 26, 2015 ]
hello Bob I have mounted this camera on the top and bottom of the license plate also on the top of my Blazer and now I have it mounted on the back of my Chrysler Sebring.(I used double back tape) The camera works well.On the back of the mounting brackets are small screws carefully loosen the screws to allow the camera itself to roll up or down.Just remember to tighten the screws after aligning camera. You should be fine. I hope this answers your question[ CURTIS Jan 02, 2015 ]
I have this camera mounted on the bottom of the license plate on my 2007 Mustang, and the camera works great. It has an excellent field of vision; however I can understand your concern about seeing past the lip/hitch area on a truck's rear bumper, which my car does not have. The lens can be adjusted up and down with set screws, and a little adjustment goes a long way with it. You may have to slightly angle the lens upward so you don't get a view full of bumper, but I believe the camera will still be quite useful even with a slight upward angle. Hope this helps![ JERARD Jan 02, 2015 ]
I mounted my camera on a Chevy 2500hd and I can see everything I need to see. I can see the receiver ball and I can see everything around it. It works great[ JUSTIN Jan 02, 2015 ]

I would ask for a new because mine has been with me for two vehicles and works great. It's not for long distance but out ten feet is it fine and clear. I have a Jensen audio deck with camera inputs. Try calling customer service (always be nice) and if you don't get resolve with one rep. ask to speak with their Supervisior and their Supervisior until you are satisfied. I hope this helps you.[ CURTIS Nov 23, 2014 ]
Try wiping the lens with rubbing alcohol then buff with a good polish.? It's should just be water spots[ CHRISTOPHER Nov 22, 2014 ]
Mine works fine only little foggy when it's very humid out[ JOHN Nov 22, 2014 ]
Yes it does cover about a 16th of an inch of my tabs, not a big deal![ Steve Jul 26, 2015 ]
You can choose whether you want to install it on the top or the bottom 1/2 of your license plate. That way, if you have reg. stickers that go on the plate you can avoid that area. I installed mine on the top 2 holes, it fits the license plate well, might be a touch wider than it, but if so it's not noticeable. Hope this helps![ STEVEN Jun 14, 2014 ]
On cali plates, it will cover the month and the first 2 numbers of the year...BUT...can see the last 2 numbers of the year pretty clearly. Ran it for a year with no problems from the police before selling the car. Yes every year it has to come off. It takes 1 min to take off or on. I never thought it was a bug deal.[ JASON Jun 01, 2014 ]
It is longer than necessary and slightly obscures the registration stickers. You do have to remove it to apply new stickers and reinstall. I have not found any of those issues to be very problematic.[ RONNIE May 31, 2014 ]
To big of a deal. It mounts easily and works great. I love mine. And if I remember correctly it is not in the way.[ LARRY May 31, 2014 ]
I live in WV and our stickers on on the bottom right of the plate, so that is not a problem for me. And it's two screws even if you have to take it off. The biggest problem I had was running the wire from my lift gate up to the dash. I put mine on a Dodge Grand Caravan. Put well worth the time. Not hard, just took my time and made sure wire was hidden. I think you are making too big a deal out of it. Well worth any trouble it may cause. And if removing two screws once a year is a big deal...get an battery powered screwdriver![ JEFF May 31, 2014 ]
Yes it does show a grid lines and I have to do calibration. It's not one size fit all. I have to do modify to fit it into my SUV.[ PEOV D May 30, 2014 ]
The camera comes preset with gridlines. I did not see any way to Calibrate for my vehicle. There is a wire you can disconnect to remove grid lines completely if they do not work for you. hope this helps[ GREG M May 30, 2014 ]
No grids no calibration. Very simple to install and very clear picture[ CHRISTOPHER May 30, 2014 ]
The display shows tapered dotted lines that are a bit wider than your car and then 3 horizontal lines before you hit with a flashing stop. It kind of emulates the lines in a parking spot and makes backing into a spot easy. No calibration was required for my van. Nice product and have been happy with it for over 7 months and a harsh winter.[ PAUL May 30, 2014 ]
It does show one size fits all grid lines. There is an option to remove the lines when installing by cutting a wire[ DEREK L May 29, 2014 ]

the camera is always on, its the monitor that would switch to the input of the camera when the vehicle is put in reverse. So to answer your question, yes you can leave it on all the time. Mine is 4 years old and still works great.[ CHRISTOPHER R Apr 06, 2014 ]
You could wire it up using a toggle switch If you have a dedicated display for the camera you could just attach the power wire of the camera to any hot wire with ignition on and have rear view all the time. But if you are using a multi function display (such as radio) I would do the toggle switch since it will negate any of the other controls while on[ DAVID N Apr 04, 2014 ]
I actually had it hooked up that way via a switch I had mounted in a perfect location on my dash. It looks really cool when your driving and you turn it on-people loved it. Or to watch what's going on behind you while parked. The problem? Every time I did it, shortly thereafter the receiver would zap out. It didn't matter if I was driving or in park. I would then have to reset the receiver (with a pulled open paper clip), and of course that means you have to re-set everything as if it was newly installed. The installer said there was no work around. After the third or fourth time I decided to forgo using the switch ever again...[ WILLIAM Apr 04, 2014 ]

Only in reverse[ SCOTT D Apr 04, 2014 ]

I ran mine through an existing hole behind my license plate to the frame rail then stayed on the frame rail to the engine compartment up through the engine compartment and fire wall along an existing wiring harness and then inside the dash to the radio. Fairly simple on a 2005 f150.[ HEATH Apr 04, 2014 ]
When I installed mine I routed the cable following the passenger side of the main frame beam. Tying it with zip ties and keeping it up high and out of harms way. The toughest part was finding a soft spot in the firewall to get the wire out of the cab. I located a rubber plug in the passenger side floorboard, under the carpet that I was able to cut a slit and pass the cable through.[ MICHAEL Apr 04, 2014 ]
Follow factory wires on frame[ JOHN M Apr 04, 2014 ]

It depends on how you hook it up. Mine is hooked up straight to my head unit and reverse wire. So it only turns on in reverse or if I manually turn it on through the head unit. So long story short the camera draws 0 amps I hooked up the propper way when the vehicle is off.[ CHRISTOPHER Mar 24, 2014 ]
It is basically a cell phone camera and would draw only fractions of an amp. I would guess 40 mA nominal.[ PAUL Mar 24, 2014 ]
This mounts to your license plate its really not noticeable, I have been all over the United States and Canada and my truck has sat overnight in some pretty bad areas with no problem.[ CHRISTOPHER R Jan 21, 2014 ]
The simple way would be to replace the existing phillips or flat head screws that attach your plates with a torx head type screw or even an allen wrench head. This wont completely keep thieves from stealing it, but it will prevent any ordinary Joe walking around with a screwdriver in his pocket from taking it.[ JAMES Jan 20, 2014 ]
Thanks got a few replies on this question. I appreciate the answers thanks fellas.[ christian Jan 20, 2014 ]

Auto stores sell a license plate bolt kit that requires a special wrench to install and remove the bolts. Very effective.[ FREDERICK R Jan 20, 2014 ]
You can buy one-way screws perhaps. Take the originals in to a hardware store and see if they are available in that size. Or, once you install them, you can take a 1/4" drill bit and sdrill out the Philips head. But then they would be very difficult (but not impossible) for you to remove also should you ever need to in the future.[ WILLIAM Jan 20, 2014 ]
hi I was skeptical at first since it's only $80 bucks. there were mixed reviews on it but I gambled and I'm glad I did. I have it on a sierra 1500 for 7 months now and it works perfect. very clear for $80. my license plate light gives off a good amount of light for night time so i can still see n it's still useful. I would give it a 4-4.5 for day time n 2-3 at night. I would def buy again; I'm totally satisfied. hope this review helps.[ THOMAS Jan 20, 2014 ]
I used security style screws most likely they won't have the right screw driver to get it off[ ROB Jan 20, 2014 ]
Use a very odd shaped screw, so that a typical screwdriver does not just take it off also glue it so it is very difficult to take off. That's what we did, but my trunk is parked in a secure area.Anything else? [ RUSSELL Jan 20, 2014 ]
Use button head anti tamper fasteners. Should be able to find them at McMaster Carr or a really good hardware store.[ RANDALL D Jan 20, 2014 ]
I have a 2004 ext cab. There is a cable which I believe to be the emergency cable that runs to the outside in the middle of the floor on the driver side. I cut into the rubber sleeve and ran my cord through. I also placed some sealant around the area I cut.[ Rob Feb 16, 2016 ]
i have a 2003 Avalanche 1500 LTZ, but it should be the same if not very similar.I ran the cord under the steering wheel and over the hood open lever. Behind the hood open lever there are a bunch of cords that come from the outsid, under the truck. i followed those cords out of the truck and ran the cable against the frame all the way to the back of the truck. i then attached the power cable to the reverse light and connected the ground. Hope that helps.AG[ ALEX Jan 19, 2014 ]
Since it's an American car, your gas tank is probably on the driver side and your fuse box is probably on the passenger - the latter is in the passenger foot well on mine but check yours first.Go opposite the gas tank side if you can, avoid the drive shaft and exhaust for hopefully obvious reasons, and use a good set of heavy duty zip ties - the kind with a high melting point meant for outdoor use, you can find those pretty easily - and tie the cable up to the frame every 3 feet or so. Tap in to the power/reverse lights at your front fuse box, hook up to your HU, and you are good to go. I have this camera, use it with an AppRadio 3, it works great, nice resolution, decent low-light performance (the reverse lights help), good field of view.I have a friend with one who has had problems with interference (lines on the screen) so you may want to buy some ferrite cable clamps, I didn't have this issue myself. I have a 5.5 foot bed and the cable was plenty long enough but you may need an extension if you have a 7+ foot bed on your truck.Overall it's pretty simple to install if you know how to wire it.[ GEOFF Jan 17, 2014 ]
Thanks bud appreciate it[ christian Dec 31, 2013 ]
I installed this on my Pioneer AVH last summer and use it constantly as a backup camera. I haven't checked with writing to see if the image is reversed, but when I look at the picture on the Pioneer's screen backing up into my driveway for instance, my house shows on the left side of the screen just as it does in the Rearview Mirror. Hope this helps. The camera works great! May or may not be tricky to route the wiring from the back of your car all the way to the head, on my Subaru Outback it was fairly simple.[ STEVEN Dec 30, 2013 ]
Yes, and very good image in low light.[ JIM D Dec 29, 2013 ]
Yes it is. I had this for almost 7 months, and quality and image are still very good. That's a great buy.[ DENRICK E Dec 27, 2013 ]
