Free your hands and cut the wires
Th '806W's Bluetooth® functionality lets you take calls coming into your compatible cell phone without taking your hands of the wheel. The built-in microphone picks up your end of the conversation, while you hear your caller loud and clear. You can also stream music from your phone or other Bluetooth devices straight through your car's speakers.

Movies and more in your car
If you've got long road trips and restless passengers in your future, hook up a monitor to the receiver's video output so your passengers can enjoy a movie while you drive. And you won't clutter up your console with discs, either. This receiver plays compressed video files, so you can load multiple movies onto a hard drive, flash drive, or recordable DVD, instead of having to tote a library of discs with you.

Prefer to listen to some tunes during your drive time? No problem — slip in an SD™ card or hook up a USB device loaded with MP3 or WMA files. And you can archive hours of music on a recordable DVD or CD disc for your journeys. The handy front-panel A/V input bats cleanup for other audio and video sources.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit replaced a factory unit in a 05 Ford Explorer. Wiring was fairly simple. Regarding the dash mounting kit, the holes for attaching the kit to the head unit did not match exactly. When you tighten the screws it causes a slight bow on the trim piece. The trim piece is not visible once the truck trim is in place but it is a bit concerning. There are a lot of connections for other equipment. The USB cable is long enough to go under the factory trim to mount in the console. The setup of the unit was very easy and the instructions were great. Pairing my smartphone was easy and calls are clear. I use the USB attachment to charge my phone while listening to A2DP. A very good unit for the price.

Pros: Good sound quality. Lots of connections. Easy to use. Great setup directions. A2DP is greatness.

Cons: The radio presets UI is a bit of a challenge. No RDS. The only USB is on the rear of the unit and will not register an android smartphone set up as a disk drive. (Use A2DP)

Pros: Very easy to use. Does usb flashdrive a2dp and i even tweeked it so i can use netflix from my phone!

Cons: Customization very slim... Id like it better if i could customize the colors and background. It doesn't look bad but i wish i could change it up.

    Valor DD-806W

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I shopped around for days reviewing multiple head units in the $250-400 price range. What did I find - every person has some type of problem or concern with every unit regardless of price. At the time, the Valor DD-806 was new so there weren't any reviews so I took a chance & ordered a unit for my '08 Nissan Frontier. The following are a list of things I don't particularly like but can live with: No way to change the menu colors (blue only) although backlight color can be changed. There are 30 radio presets-problem is, to scan them all takes forever as does scrolling through the menu to select each one - should be limited to 10. The screen is split into thirds with the right side occupying 1/3. This works fine for radio stations but as soon as you plug in a device the song titles are too long and they run out of the boundaries of the container leaving you to guess which track you are selecting. Track selections slowly scroll horizontally in the larger left container but ideally the information should be reversed so you can make an easy track selection and then it can scroll in the smaller area. Shuffle function needs to be selected every time you restart the unit. No permanent indicator that shuffle/repeat is even selected. Overall, if Valor would improve their graphics & address some of the issues I mentioned this unit would be an incredible deal. But, looks, works & sounds great at a fraction of the price of more well-known brands.

Pros: Unit looks & performs as advertised. Built-in bluetooth (easy to pair & connect)with touchscreen and DVD is a bargain at this price. The Valor DD-806W is easy to begin using with intuitive navigation controls. SD card, USB & AUX are nice features and I especially like the quick mute button by simply depressing the volume control knob. Screen brightness is adjustable and looks colorful & sharp. Great FM radio reception although I haven't tried AM (and probably never will).

Cons: GUI looks cheap & dated Too many radio presets Bluetooth quality isn't ideal although it is easy to make calls, pair & connect. SD/USB seem to limit the number of songs to 1,500 - the rest won't appear.

    Display Features

2-DIN Chassis: The Valor DD-806W has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as Double-DIN), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using your vehicle's factory brackets and the supplied hardware.

Note: As always, please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to verify fit with your vehicle.

6.2" Touchscreen LCD Monitor: The DD-806W Double-DIN receiver features a 6.2" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 touchscreen LCD monitor. The resolution of the display is 800 x 480 (WVGA) for a total of 384,000 pixels. The screen has a 120° horizontal viewing angle (60° left or right), and a 90° vertical viewing angle (30° up and 60° down).

Touchscreen/Front-Panel Controls: This unit has touchscreen controls with interactive video graphics, making menu easy. In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons and a rotary-dial along the left edge of the screen.

Multilanguage OSD: The head unit's on-screen display text can be set English, French, Spanish, or Chinese.

Display Type: The unit's integrated monitor can be set to display a 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio image when watching a movie.

Picture Adjustment: You can adjust the touchscreen monitor's Color, Contrast, and Brightness (0-20).

Video Lockout: For safety reasons, you cannot view a video source on the built-in monitor as long as the vehicle is in motion. In order to display video, the pink wire (in the supplied harness) must be hardwired into the vehicle's parking brake light circuit, and the vehicle's parking brake must be engaged.

    Audio Section

24-Bit D/A Converter: The DD-806W is equipped with a high performance 24-bit, 192KHz, multi-bit Sigma Delta modulation DAC which supports sample rates from 8-192 kHz.

MOSFET Amplifier: The Valor DD-806W is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the DD-806W are as follows:

    • RMS Power: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 10% THD)
    • Peak Power: 45 watts x 4 channels (180 watts total)

2V/5ch Preamp Outputs: The DD-806W features front, rear, and mono-subwoofer 2V preamp outputs.

Subwoofer Level: You can independently adjust the head unit's mono-subwoofer preamp output volume level from -7 to +7.

Direct Access: During DVD, VCD, or CD playback, you can use the numeric keypad on the remote control to access a track or chapter directly.

Last Position Memory: If the unit is shut off or switched to the tuner mode while a disc is playing, the next time disc is selected as the source, playback will resume from the point where it left off.

When the shift lever is in the reverse position, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera. In the menu, you can switch the image from Normal to Mirror Image.
