Keep on cruising

The experts at Beltronics designed the Pro 300 radar detector to protect you over the long haul. It seeks out incoming threats over very long distances and provides prompt alerts to ensure you'll have time to react.

Reliable coverage

Looking for protection from the most common police radar bands? The Pro 300 gives you a heads-up for selectable X, K, and Ka bands, as well as instant-on "POP" radar. You'll get alerts in under 500 milliseconds, and multiple laser sensors provide added security as you travel.

Traffic Signal Rejection

Beltronics' proprietary Traffic Signal Rejection software goes even further to reduce false alerts. It detects strong K-band signals emitted by common highway traffic flow sensors and weeds them out, eliminating meaningless alarms so you can stay focused on the real threats.

High-performance features for your travel needs

The Pro 300 lets you customize your protection with seven programmable features. It also offers three sensitivity levels, including AutoScan speed-based filtering and and a city setting that eliminates X-band for fewer false alerts in urban areas. If you want to stay "under the radar," the Pro 300 provides VG-2 immunity to keep you invisible to many radar detector detectors.

Stay informed

The Pro 300 can announce incoming threats with digital voice alerts so you can concentrate on driving. AutoMute helps keep the distractions down during lengthy encounters with radar. You can track incoming threats on the 280-LED alphanumeric display, which also features tech mode and threat mode displays for advanced users, plus a voltage meter. Adjust the display's brightness for your viewing pleasure, or take things fully dark when the need arises.

Beltronics also provides a coiled SmartPlug cord with built-in mute and alert lights to keep you in control and informed, even when the detector's fully dark.

Add EscortLive!™ for extra protection

The Pro 300 is compatible with the EscortLive service, which allows you to track real-time radar threats in your vicinity using your Bluetooth® enabled smartphone and the free EscortLive app. Your phone's GPS information provides access to reported radar data from other EscortLive users in your vicinity, and you can report radar hotspots so others driving in your wake will know about potential encounters. You'll need to purchase an EscortLive cord for your iPhone® or Android™ phone, and a subscription fee is also required to use the EscortLive service.

Sorry, but we cannot ship radar detectors to Virginia or the District of Columbia.

Has already paid for itself!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This detector has already paid for itself by giving ample warning on all bands. I will buy another for my other vehicle, but it will be a cordless model.

Pros: Catches the radar slightly faster than my cobra, I know this because I travel the same route daily.

Cons: None, this unit is exceptional!

Second Bel I had - old unit was 15 years old and want replacement - Happy Camper, works well, no problems

Pros: excellent unit, effective, very few "false alarms" money well spent

Cons: NONE

Awesome Detector

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my 4th Beltronics detector and as expected they continue to produce quality products! Bought this one to replace my RX65 which I had for 9 yrs and so far the Pro300 has excellent range comparable or better than the RX65! I also like the travel case that was included and the newer straight/coiled smartcord. I strongly recommend this for anyone looking for a quality detector! It's a bit on the pricey side but is definitely worth the price!!

Pros: Excellent range with advanced features such as multiple band alerts simultaneously, selectable bands, Escort Live compatible and voice alerts! Much fewer false alerts as well.

Cons: Price, but is worth every penny.

Continue with a tradition.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my fifth Beltronics radar detector. Years ago (sometime in the 90's) I bought my first radar detector a Bel 855STi from Crutchfield. Few years later it was replaced by a Bel 980, also from Crutchfield. Now I have a Bel 985, a Beltronics GX65, a Beltronics Pro 200 and the newest adquisition, the Beltronics Pro300 also purchased from Crutchfield. In my tradition, I always look for top of the line Beltronics (former Bel) radar detectors. All characterize by the great ability to rejects false signals. Superb sensitivity and low RF emissions. All radar detectors emits some radio energy from their internal circuits but Beltronics (and their cousins, Escort) emits the lowest. Being the Beltronics STi Magnum and Escort Redline the only ones with cero RF emissions, making them virtually undetectable by Police radar detector detector. The Pro 300 continues with Beltronics quality and performance tradition. I shows excellent rejection to false signals. If it founds a suspicious weak signal, it will warn you with a single beep and a signal strength indicator of 1. If it found it to be false, it will return to normal. If it found it to be true, it will talk you the band and show you the increasing signal strength. In the category of sensitivity, it truly top performer. It will warn you of threats behind curves, behind overpasses, behind road hills and a lot of cars behind you too. In straight open road, it will warn you some 2 to 4 miles earlier depending on road conditions.

Pros: Excellent Sensitivity and Selectivity. Nice feature set like the Voltmeter, Band Selector and Voice. Superb quality and performance. Crutchfield Service is top notch! I placed the order on Dec 27 and received it at my door on Jan 2, even with new years eve holiday in the middle of it!

Cons: It may look pricey but it will pay off!

Pros: Works with Escort Live. Price.

Cons: Slightly bulky.

Beltronics Pro 300

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my 3rd BEL product and I am very satisfied with its performance! The Beltronics Pro 300 is essentially an updated version of the RX 65 model (of which I have two) and is "top rated" by a consumer product review magazine. I don't intentionally exceed posted speed limits however, I'm sure I have at times. My BEL units have saved my "keester" more than once. It never ceases to amaze me the distance at which these units detect both radar and lazer signals. I think they are money "well spent" and Crutchfield Service can't be beat.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This purchase through Crutchfiled was the best price avialable and with great customer support was able to use the multiple gift cards I had received. Right out of the box, this detector feels more solid and durable that other detectors I've experienced. It also has more standard mounting options that others, allowing it to be installed in my personal auto and taken along for rental vehicles on business travel. Well made and superior performance makes it the best detector I've purchased so far.

About time for a new radar detector

JJR from East Brunswick, NJ on 1/10/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

WOW......replaced older detector and what a difference; sensitivity, range and accuracy are terrific!! Was debating between Bel Pro 300 and Escort 8500 until I saw the Bel Pro 300 on sale at Crutchfield; bought it and am completely satisfied. Couldn't believe that I ordered it on 12/23 and it arrived on 12/24 via UPS and free shipping. Make sure you register it online to get free case for the detector (current promotion)......very nice!!!

Pros: Sensitivity, range, accuracy, programmable, voice alerts, reputation (same internals/manufacturer as Escort 8500). Free case if you register online (current promotion). Mine also came with Super Cup Mount......FREE!!

Cons: Not a con to worry about, but there is some weight to the Bel Pro 300, so make sure you have a good mount for it; mine came with the Super Cup Mount ($20.00 value for FREE).

Great gadget for the price.

Been using for more than a month. Impressed with the perfomance, so far. Coupled with Escort live. Sensitivity is good. And it is user friendly. Its a good investment for radar detector, for the budget. I've read good reviews with beltronics 300. That is why, I chose this product.

Pros: Dependable, user-friendly.

Cons: Non so far.

Replaced an older Escort that finally bit the dust. This seems to be pretty comparable to the Escort 8500X50, which is also a great detector.

Pros: Quality product

Cons: None so far.

Great Service, Great Price.

Upgrade from RX55

Steve from New York on 1/5/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Much more warning time for law enforcement radar than my old Bel RX55. Falses about the same amount for road signs and street lights. Garage door openers and other detectors are not a problem but they weren't for my old detector either. Solidly built unit. Very happy with this choice.

Pros: Range

Superior radar sensitivity

RDJ from Mishawaka, IN on 1/4/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like ease of use--Straight out of the box the Pro 300 is ready to go. If you must program, it is still very easy to use and understand. I also like the voice alert as it will let you keep your eyes on the road. Again, distance sensitivity is paramount around curves, hills, on & off ramps, and police running radar from behind you. I would have to say since I've been using the Pro 300 the least amount of distance it's given me has been around 3000 feet. Truth be know, I think it was further than that as I was going fast at the time. So in this case the Pro 300 saw the cop before the cop saw me. That's what kind of detector you want. I would also like to suggest the heavy duty windshield mount (AKA) suction cup. If you order from Crutchfield ask the rep if there is an H.D. mount included in the box. My pro 300 came with H.D. mount included which was a pleasant surprise. And really ask yourself how can you go wrong with Crutchfield free shipping and lifetime tech support also included. I don't know any place of business these days going to that extent to help a person after purchase. Also to point out, there are literally thousands of other reviews and feedback on the Pro 300 made by automotive publications and happy radar detector users that you will find online.

Product Research

Overview: The Beltronics Pro300 provides full detection of radar and laser, alerts from the Safety Warning System, and full VG2 immunity. The Pro300 is compatible with Escort Live!, which allows you to integrate the radar detector with your smartphone. The unit comes equipped with a suction-cup windshield mount and a SmartPlug coiled power cord.

Detection Capability: The Beltronics Pro300 includes full X, K, Ka and Safety Warning System radar capability, laser detection, and a fast microprocessor for delivering alerts in 500 milliseconds or less. It features superior long-range radar and laser detection, including the new "POP" mode alerts. You can program the unit to enable all bands at once or you can select one or more bands to turn off (once you have determined there are no traffic radar units using the disabled bands in your area).

SmartPlug: The SmartPlug power cord has a power-on indicator, a bright alert light that warns of radar or laser and a convenient mute button right on the plug. It's a perfect solution for when your radar detector is out of reach or for discreet night driving when you are using the unit's Dark mode. An optionalDirect-wire SmartPlug module, which can be wired directly into your vehicle's electrical system with a straight cord, is available.

Escort Live! By replacing the standard power cord with the SmartCord Live module, and downloading the Escort Live! app to your smartphone, you get instant access to a powerful driver alert social network of other subscribers. As you travel, you are alerted ahead of time of upcoming alerts along your route, as experienced by other drivers. The smartphone app gives you the choice of a map view or dashboard view. Escort Live! is a paid subscription service that is compatible with iPhone 5, 4S, 4, and 3 GS, and Android devices using OS 2.2 or higher.

Traffic Signal Rejection: The Pro300 utilizes Traffic Signal Rejection to eliminate false alerts due to location or certain frequencies. Radar-based traffic flow sensors, mounted along major highways, transmit strong K-band signals for a half-second approximately every minute. These signals help produce traffic flow data for personal navigation devices, but also create numerous false radar alerts. Beltronics' proprietary Traffic Signal Rejection (TSR) software, found in the Pro300, helps eliminate annoying false alerts.

DSP (Digital Signal Processing):The digital AutoScan feature continuously analyzes all incoming signals and automatically rejects unwanted false alarms. This gives you the perfect balance of long-range detector performance without annoying false alarms.

Laser Protection: The Pro300 provides 10 times the sensitivity of any imported radar detector, including the latest "POP" mode threat. Multiple laser sensor diodes, strategically positioned in the unit, continually search for laser gun signals and provide maximum range and superior off-axis protection.

Digital Voice Alerts: The Pro300's easy to understand digital voice alerts keep you informed without taking your eyes off the road. If you prefer, you can turn off the voice announcement feature and have the unit provide audible tones instead.

Audible Alerts: The Pro300 uses audible alerts for Radar, Laser, POP, and Safety signals:

  • Radar Signals: The Pro300 uses a Geiger-counter-like sound to indicate the signal strength and type of radar signal being encountered. When you encounter radar, a distinct audible alert will sound and occur faster as the signal gets stronger. This allows you to judge the distance from the signal source without taking your eyes from the road.
    • X-band: Chirping sound
    • K-band: Buzzing sound
    • Ka-band: Double-Chirp sound
    • POP: Full Double-Chirp sound
    • SWS: Double Beep sound
  • Laser Signals: Since Laser signals are a possible threat no matter how weak, the Pro300 alerts you to these bands at full signal strength.
  • POP Signals: Since POP signals are extremely fast K or Ka bursts, and a possible threat no matter how weak, the Pro300 alerts you to these bands at full signal strength.
  • Safety Signals: The Pro300 will alert you to these signals with a double-beep tone, and a corresponding text message.

Sensitivity: You can set the Pro300 to three sensitivity modes:

  • Highway Mode: detects all signals at maximum range
  • AutoScan Mode: the unit's internal computer continuously analyzes all incoming signals and intelligently filters out unwanted X and K-band false alarms. Full sensitivity is maintained on all other bands.
  • City Mode: the X and K-band sensitivity is further reduced to eliminate unwanted false alarms in congested urban areas. There are options for Low X and No X sensitivity settings.

Display: The Pro300 features a bright, alphanumeric display that consists of 280 individual LEDs, visible from virtually any angle. The unit offers three display options:

  • Signal Strength Meter: The standard bar-graph signal strength meter only displays information on a single radar signal. If there are multiple signals present, the unit's internal computer determines which is the most important threat to show on the bar-graph meter.
  • Threat Display: Designed for experienced users, the Threat Display is a miniature spectrum analyzer that simultaneously tracks multiple radar signals and their relative strengths which can help you spot a change in your normal driving environment.
  • Tech Display: The Tech Display option, also for experienced detector users, will display the actual numeric frequency of the radar signal being received.

Brightness Control: The Pro300 offers three levels of brightness, plus a Dark Mode. Dark Mode uses the power-on and alert indicators on the SmartPlug as the only visual indicator.

Mute and AutoMute: The Pro300 features the AutoMute feature, which automatically reduces the volume level during an alert. Or, you can simply press the large front-mounted Mute button on the detector or on the SmartPlug during an alert to instantly quiet the audio.

Programming: There are 7 user-selectable options so you can customize the Pro300 for your own preferences:

  • Pilot (Power-on indication): choose full word (Highway, AutoScan, or City) or letter (H, A, or C) in the display. You can also display the vehicle's voltage, if desired.
  • Voice Alerts: turn digital voice announcement On or Off
  • Power-On Sequence: choose between the standard Power-On function or the Fast Power-On function
  • Signal Strength Meter: You can select from three display options: Standard (bar-graph) Display, Threat Display, or Tech Display
  • AutoMute: turn this function either On or Off
  • City Mode Sensitivity: select Standard, Low X, or No X.
  • Bands: select between the radar detector's default setting (all bands) or choose to turn one or more of the bands off

Mounting: You will get optimum performance from the detector if you mount it at a point approximately in the center of the vehicle, as low as possible on the front windshield without obstructing the view of the road to the front or rear. The supplied windshield mount adheres the detector to the windshield with two suction cups. The angle can be adjusted for best visibility.

cseabrook, I wanted answers to that question myself but never got the answer. My previous detector had the "VG-2 Interceptor" circuitry but unfortunately it failed after several years; It was discontinued. However, I'm not sure this one has it. The way the VG-2 circuitry works is, when it encounters a detector dector, it shuts down until the threat has passed/is over. The documentation does not say it has the VG-2 circuitry.[ William  Dec 15, 2014 ]
