Speaker up

Make no mistake, these Auditor Series R-100C 4" coaxial speakers will put your factory speakers to shame. Years of weather damage and use will degrade the paper cone speakers that came with your car. Focal built this speaker's polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround to withstand that kind of damage while delivering robust sound. You'll enjoy a new richness of bass and midrange articulation while gaining an added dimension in the high frequencies, thanks to the R-100C's tweeter. Focal also includes grilles for a custom installation. This is an upgrade you won't regret.

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 4" polypropylene woofer cone with butyl rubber surround
  • Mylar tweeter
  • rigid steel basket
  • mesh/ABS mesh grilles included
  • 2-30 watts RMS power range (60 watts peak)
  • frequency response: 80-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 84 dB
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • mounting depth: 1-7/8"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

It is hard to believe that a speaker so small can sound so good. I will be using Focal from this point on.

2002 Lexus GS300
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Focal is known for great sound but these 4 inch speakers are too bright on the highs and have NO kick drum, mid bass to them at all. I expected a little more even though they are only 4 inch speakers, but they were not that much if any of an upgrade from my 2002 Lexus Speakers, STOCK, which were pioneer. They take a little more wattage but at 40 to 70 watts the brights are so tinny and high it hurts your ears, and the speakers are by my feet in the doors, front and back. YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO MUCH WORSE for this price, but you can also do better. POLK, Infinity KAPPA, even PIONEER sound better than this specific set of focals.

Pros: Nice price, OK sound, clear

Cons: No mid bass, no kick, drums, HIGHS too bright

1990 Toyota Pickup
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these tiny speakers in the lower front dash of my 1990 Winnebago Warrior (built on a Toyota Pickup). They replaced some cheapo JBL aftermarket speakers. I was VERY impressed by the improvement in sound. The Focals have way more (mid)-bass than I expected for their size. My unrealized fear was that the Focals would be only a minor improvement. In fact, the blew away the old drivers. The highs? The speakers point toward the passengers' shins (a limitation of the truck, not the speakers), so it's difficult to be critical. I plan on finishing the Winnebago overhaul with a matching pair of Focal 6x9s in the back...eventually.

Pros: great bass response for their small size, good fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are a steal and amazing coming from a hifi setup on my Bmw e90 328i. I recently upgrade for professional radio to poineer full media single din with no cd deck. Theses paired sounds like a orchestra in your car.. Reminds me on my father boss home setup when he use to listen for classical music. The highs on these rear deck speakers are to brag about. Don't waste your time pick these up while still in stock. Minor cutting of wires and bracket for better fit...

Pros: Price, sound, and ease of install

Cons: None

Great coaxials

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are natural, un-hyped sounding speakers. You can really hear the details in reverb trails. There is a surprising amount of midbass. I just crossed it over around 120 hz with a 12" ported subwoofer. I am really happy with these Focals. You shouldn't use a head-unit, Parrot or anything to power them. You need an amp for these!

Cons: No bi-amp capability

Nice Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like this set a lot..I replaced my original Porsche speakers with pionner ones at first, it did do much... I ended up paying a little more for the Focal... It was a smart choice.

Pros: Nice loud base

Cons: none

great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are very nice quality and not only do they perform well, they are also good looking. They were a slight pain to install only because i needed to make a cutom bracket, however that is because i have a very limited mounting space in my 2004 wrx. Overall very quality and would recommend

Pros: Sound good. For small speakers they have good lows. attractive

Cons: Did not fit the 2004 wrx without a custom bracket.

Very disappointed in Focal R-100C

1989 Toyota Pickup
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very disappointed in the sound from the Focal Performance R-100C. I have a 1989 4X4 Toyota truck with stock stereo unit. I have replaced the stock speakers once before but factory speakers are no longer available. So decided to find a replacement. Focal has an excellent reputation so decided to splurge on these. Passenger side mounts into a port enclosure housing, so installed it and it distorts bad at 1/3 volume or greater. Didn't bother to waste my time on replacing the driver side speaker. And this is the factory head unit. The stock speakers sound so much better with no distortion. So I will replace the surround on the factory speaker and re-install these. Unfortunately a $$$ mistake for me.

Pros: Mounted easily

Cons: Distortion

Product Research

Woofer: The polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround are resistant to the temperature extremes and humidity often found in the automotive environment, adding to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Tweeter: Each speaker features a Mylar dome tweeter for crisp highs.

4/2 Hole Compatibility: Most 4" factory speakers use four mounting screws, however, in some vehicles, only two are used. The R-100C's mounting tabs can be removed, allowing installation in 4-hole or 2-hole applications. Care should be taken handling the speaker after any tabs are removed because the broken edges may be sharp. Please check the Find What Fits Your Car application to confirm fit in your vehicle.
