Focal's Polyglass CVX speakers use precision craftmanship and advanced materials to make a strong sonic impression. These sturdy 2-way speakers bring superb sound quality to the factory speaker locations in your vehicle.

2-layer woofer cone
The 100 CVX 4" speakers feature a Polyglass cone that's created by depositing a layer of hollow glass microbeads over a layer of cellulose pulp. This unique material combines the warm sound of cellulose with the incredible strength of glass, for a cone that responds rapidly with extremely low resonance. A butyl rubber surround helps control cone movement and promotes high power handling. The ABS plastic basket provides a strong, non-resonant housing for accurate, uncolored sound.

Unique tweeter design
Focal designed the aluminum inverted dome tweeter to disperse high frequencies evenly for a big, open soundstage. You can rotate the tweeter to improve definition in your listening area. The built-in 2-way crossover ensures a smooth transition from lows to highs, so vocals and instruments sound natural. Grilles are included.

Very nice midrange. High quality construction and design, even if made in China. Great punch even though it is only a 4"speaker.

Pros: Great construction quality and good performance from a 4" woofer.

Cons: Tweeter adjustment is by rotation, angle not as adjustable as I thought.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Im very pleased with the sound coming from these little speakers.Surprized even, at how clear the highs are and they produce strong mid-range.I've coupled my 4 cvx-100's with the alpine mrp-300 4 channel amp (I'll review it later).Great combination of amp and speaker.I was having a problem with my highs and mids keeping up with the bass from 2 jl 10's, but no more.ALSO i've bought a EQ to bring out the best in these.I HIGHLY SUGGEST BUYING AN EQ,especially if your an autophile like me.Auidocontrol is the best but if your budget doesnt permit that go for the clarion. As a side note, i installed these in a 1990 chevy 1500 regular cab, crutchfeild said i would have to do some work to get them in because they were to deep.all i had to do was double stack the provided install plates and cut out a section of the grill on the b-pillars so the tweetes could come through, then installed focals provided grills over top.DONE.for the fronts i used another crutchfield product called select increments. Its a 4 inch enclosure thats incredibley versitle(ill review later)and i belive made my front speakers sound just a bit bigger than my rears.Overall i dont think you can go wrong with these for the price, they are heavy for there size, handle power well and are crystal clear at high volums..

Pros: Great price, high quality manufacturing,Sound clarity

Cons: They are sort of deep but so long as you can do some customizing your good

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been building speakers for 20 years. I am sorry but I refuse to bury a tweeter under an angled grill in the dash and have all of the midrange get fired into my knee by a 6 1/2 inch woofer. I listen to jazz, acoustic blues and occasionally classical music. I recently bought a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with defunct head unit and speakers. The advantages of this kind of vehicle is that you can modify without being too worried about reselling and your wife's aesthetics are not an issue. I took out the tweeters, cut the factory plug off and threw them away. I got these Focal Polyglass 100 CVX speakers for a steal. For those of you building a custom system be aware that these drivers are sonically excellent and contain a built in crossover which saves lots of money and simplifies the installation. They are compact enough that I was able to mount them vertically on the dash of the Grand Cherokee. I did this by designing and fabricating a set of speaker brackets out of copper clad steel strap and brass. I soldered the elements together and painted them and the modified grill the same color as the dash. The sound stage is excellent. The timber and attack of trumpet, saxophone and violin are superior in every way to squeak and knee speaker configuration. The Polyglass 100 CVX from Focal deliver "high end" sound and are the perfect size for the cabin of an automobile.

Pros: Crossover is built in and very high quality - saves money and time Four inch midrange is perfect size for an automobile cabin. Superior sound reproduction

Cons: Speakers are fine. Wish I could have included photograps of my installation. Sorry

Great Product, Great Price!

1986 Jaguar XJ6
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put 4 of these in my classic Jag XJ, love how the tweeter can be angled up from the door location to raise the soundstage. They have really come to life after a week of regular listening! The inset crossover bits and overall quality is something that has to be seen to believe. The price you pay for this level of sound and build quality is unreal! Crossed them over at 150Hz, plan on adding a Focal sub soon to fill out the bottom end. Awesome! Fast Shipping, 18 hours from order to delivery! Go Crutchfield!

Pros: Awesome quality, Awesome Price!

1999 Isuzu Rodeo

I'm no audiophile, but I appreciate good music. I've also been a musician for years so I do understand the benefit of balance in a speaker system. These speakers are crystal clear and very transparent, an excellent addition to any auto sound system. They put out plenty of volume, and just rock my SUV. From Fleet Foxes to Soundgarden, these speakers do the job very well. I never thought I would find a good pair of speakers to fit the small 4" location that my vehicle has but thankfully I found these. I'll be replacing my front speakers with Focal polyglass speakers this week, they are that good.

Product Research

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Basket: The woofer features a basket made of 20% fiberglass filled ABS.

Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listener.

Crossover: The 12 dB/octave crossovers built onto the back of the speaker use audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors to ensure high definition and a dynamic sound quality.
