Speaker Up

Make no mistake, these Auditor Series R-165C 6-3/4" coaxial speakers will put your factory speakers to shame. Years of weather-damage and even the most conservative listening will degrade the paper cone speakers that came with your car. Focal built this speaker's polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround to withstand that kind of damage while delivering robust sound. You'll enjoy a new richness of bass and midrange articulation while gaining an added dimension in the high frequencies, thanks to the R-165C's Mylar tweeter. This is an upgrade you won't regret.

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)

These speakers are reasonably priced and they sound like a million bucks. Nice clear highs and can still thump the bass!!!

Meh. Too glassy sounding. Even after EQ'in 2K to about 8K, these things still don't sound very good. I swapped them out for some JBLs, and so I can tell you, all thing being equal, that these don't measure up. Bass response is not what I would call tight. Smeared.

Pros: Easy install. Highs are clear and phased well.

Cons: Smeared bass response. Glassy mids.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is exactly the speaker I needed to have for my car. I wanted some more bass response that the surprisingly good sounding OEM speakers (paper cone) didn't provide enough of. Since I didn't want to amplify my Kenwood DX head unit, I wanted an efficient speaker. They are plenty loud enough at reasonable volume settings and have warm tone to them. Maybe it's just because they're mounted in the rear, but they don't seem to sound very "bright". I'm still working on tuning the head unit for these speakers though.

Pros: Solid Speaker Very efficient Nice bass, warm & rumbly

Cons: Highs seem a bit lacking, maybe due to mounting location relative to the driver, but maybe they could use a pivot to send the highs in the right direction would be nice.

Good sounding speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds great in my rear doors in my Subaru Forester. Installed with the recommended baffles and wiring harness. I'm running them off the factory head unit. This highs are a bit loud, the mids are clear, and the lows are to be expected off the factory stereo. I'm sure they will sound amazing with an aftermarket head unit and/or amp.

Pros: Sounds better than stock Easy to install

Cons: High's are louder than expected

absolutely outstanding sound

Awesome speaker, needed deeper bass to satisify my teen aged daughter music tastes. Heavier magnet than previous aftermarket speakers produces great lows. I took the advice of my Crutchfield Advisor Marshall with years of experience, a perfect choice.

Pros: Handles high wattage, deep bass settings. Soild construction

Cons: None

Installed these in my 2001 TransAm WS6, after replacing my front components with Focal Performance 165AS, I repaced the back with these R165C. Running on 2 Amps, for Speakers and Sub. These are the absolutly the most Awsome speakers I have ever had. Focal is the way to go.

Pros: Fast Delivery, Easy Install, Fantistic Sound.

Cons: None

easy install and great sound.

Pros: Everything was sent to do a quick install

Cons: Adapters had tabs but I had no instructions on mounting the speakers to my adapter for my car. Might be too much to ask for, but I am not sure if those adapters are specific to my Camaro. Still it was pretty much common sense, but I have done installs like this on other vehicles.

Product Research

Woofer: The polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround are resistant to the temperature extremes and humidity often found in the automotive environment, adding to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Tweeter: Each speaker features a Mylar dome tweeter for crisp highs.

Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Focal, call this size speaker a 6-1/2". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size woofer as a 6-3/4". They might fit but i do know that they're not exterior speakers and therefore would not even consider them because they're not weather resistant. [ MICHAEL  Jul 12, 2015 ]
