Excellent imaging

The Access 165CA1 SG 6-3/4" speakers feature stiff, woven glass-fiber woofer cones for precise mid-bass sounds. Focal's patented inverted-dome tweeters act like miniature woofer cones, dispersing high frequencies evenly with fine resolution and exciting dynamics. You can pivot the tweeters toward your listening position to optimize stereo imaging.

High-quality parts

The strong, lightweight frame offers plenty of open space for unimpeded cone movement, along with plenty of venting to cool the voice coils. High-quality components in the built-in crossover ensure a seamless distribution of frequencies to the woofer and tweeter, for an extremely natural sound. Focal inspects and tests every Access speaker to ensure that each one lives up to their high quality standards.

Note: Focal describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

2002 GMC Sonoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in a 2002 GMC Sonoma ext cab. I'm running them off of a Pioneer DEH-X6600BT (no amp) and they sound fantastic! They seem to be warmer than the factory speakers (sound). Please note that even though they list as a direct replacement they are bigger than the factory units and you will have to drill new holes. Not a huge deal. The speakers come with good screws and clips as the factory screws were too small. I'd recommend not putting one of the screws at the 6 o'clock position as the lip gets thin

Pros: Sound amazing! Great low end extension even off head unit power!! I got to use my new drill!

Cons: Now I want an amp and a sub.

2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They're super crisp and clean and loud. Put them in a friends truck and fell in love. Will be buying a set for myself. The connectors Crutchfield sends with were a blessing but the mounting adapters are worthless. They don't fit these speakers so you will need to make your own to get them to fit.

Pros: Clean highs. Easy install. Loud overall.

Cons: Adapters sent with by Crutchfield don't fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this speaker for my volvo c30 and its only been a few days and loving it already. I took out my sub in the back and use this speakers for the rear and I have focal components in front and JL 700's amp. Didnt need my sub I had enough lows and high it the back and this speaker sounds great. I love this set up just perfect for all types of music.

Pros: Sounds are clear and crisp:-) :-) :-)

Cons: Nothing I can think of...

2002 Cadillac Escalade
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace my door speakers in a 2002 Escalade. They sound incredible. The sound quality exceeds that of the factory Bose system. I plan to replace the rear speakers with another set of Focals soon.

Pros: Full sound including nice bass handling

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers sound very good - a great improvement over the Bose speakers that came stock with the vehicle. I am very happy with the sound. Installation was very difficult for this vehicle, however, and the plastic adapters in the kit were not particularly helpful. JR

Pros: Sound, including the tweeters which could be turned so treble comes directly toward your ears.

Cons: Installation for this vehicle was difficult.

Great Factory Speaker Replacements

2007 Chevrolet Silverado (New Body Style
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were used in the front doors of my 2007 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab pickup (New body style) as one of the factory Bose speakers had blown. Excellent replacement with better sound than the factory speakers ever had. I'm no audiophile but these sound great. May order some 5 1/4' for the rear doors now.

Pros: Step by step door panel removal instructions were great. Speakers are far better quality than factory "premium" ones. The speaker brackets/supports were a nice addition to the order, at no extra charge.

Pros: Clear, punchy, adjustable tweeter.

Cons: None

Good rear speakers

Antquinn from Grand Rapids, MI on 4/30/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great for rears. The tweeter angle really helps the highs sound like they are not low in the doors, but more so at your ears.. These speakers will probably be used for rear fill when the amp and sub are in place. For the price, you cannot beat the sound they create. Currently running off the alpine hd137bt with the focal 165a1 components up front in a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. Can't complain. Thanks focal and crutchfield.

Pros: detailed midrange, adjustable angle tweeter.

Cons: None so far.

2008 Nissan 350Z
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the rear location of a 2008 350Z. The sound quality is a huge leap over the stock speakers.

Pros: Install instructions and wiring harness from Crutchfield made this installation much easier that without them. The bass sounds great!

Great entry level focal speakers

2006 Toyota Avalon
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They are great replacement speakers and works just fine and loud enough before distortion on my stock radio in my toyota avalon. I bet it will sound even better with an amp. The sound signature is bright and clear, great if you prefer clearly over fullness. I have a 12 inch polk sub, but the focal just doesn't have the mid bass to make the music sound full, I always felt something is missing. Overall great speaker, I have heard a set of component polyglass properly amped, dampened and signaled, it sounded just AMAZING. If you have the extra money, go for the polyglass. The access line is on par with polk's db/dxi or infinity reference IMO.
