Performance and versatility
With heavy ferrite magnets and 4-layer voice coils, it's no surprise this sub handles plenty of power — up to 250 watts RMS. The good sensitivity rating means your amp won't have to work so hard to drive this sub, so you'll get maximum wallop per watt. The dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for either 2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance, and you'll appreciate that versatility as your system grows and changes. You can install this sub in a sealed box for tight, punchy bass, or in a ported enclosure for a little more boom.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 200 and 375 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Smooth, perfect bass.

I love this sub. I moved from two JL w1 10" at 700 Watts @ 4 ohms to this focal, wired in series for ~450 @ 8 ohms. The bass is accurate, smooth, and not over powering. I can crank it and get the jail bail music if I want, but prefer my tight metal. The best part is the accuracy. It's focal. It's beautiful.

Pros: Everything above.

Cons: Would be nice to have a grill

Great sub for the price!

I purchased this sub along with Focal's PS 130V's and ISC 570's. I'm powering my fronts and rears with Alpines MRV-F300 and powering this baby with Alpines Mono amp MRV-M500. After sound dampening the entire cab of my 03 Tacoma I installed everything. I brought it by my Local car audio place to walk through my wiring to make sure I wasn't going to fry something and after the thumbs up he set everything for moderate. I guess these speakers/subs do better with a break in period. after a week, he dialed it all in again and gave me the go ahead to see what this baby had!!! All I can say is WOW!!! I can't believe the base that comes out of this one sub. I watched a Youtube video of a guy in Russia really exercising this thing and I knew I wanted to buy it. Focal suggests placing it in a ported box but I prefer my bass to be more tighter so she's enclosed. I couldn't imagine having one more in my ext cab. One is more than enough for me!

Pros: Tight base that comes from an enclosed box. I love the bass this thing puts out ! I can't listen to enough Tripp Lee! =)

Cons: Spending more money on gas because all I want to do is listen to my system!

Nice in a seal box

This isn't really your typical subwoofer. The sound out of my sealed BBox is clean and deep, the Focal hits hard. Powered by one channel of my Rockford 500 watt 2-channel amp. What I was looking for in my setup was clean sound, I purchased focal all around my car, sound dampened with Second Skin Audio, and added some clean tight bass. The bass hits deep, it will rattle your hair, but its far more tailored to rock, and punchy music. Deep long bass such as Trap, Dubstep, Rap really don't line up well with this subwoofer's strengths -- but that might also be my sealed box. Doing a side by side on my roommates 2 Rockford 10" subs in a ported box, the Focal out preforms in every category. So I don't have a lot of complaints. I might add a second.

Pros: Deep Clean Punchy - Great on bass drums

Cons: Not LOUD - but loud enough for adults

awesome 10"s !!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Best over all subwoofers I have purchased. Clean and natural sounding. Been a jl audio fan for last 15 years and now that I have focal. I will use nothing else.

Pros: Mirror magnet cover makes great visual in a custom enclosure. Very solid subwoofer. Protected tinsel leads. Solid spring loaded wire terminals. Great modest look to the face of the cone. Focal logo nicely centered on bottom of cone area.

Cons: Honestly can not find a con on this sub.

not very loud

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was disappointed in the overall output/performance of the sub. Sound quality is good, but not very loud. If you are looking for a sub that sounds good at moderate volume levels then this is a good sub.

Pros: great looking sub, good sound quality

Cons: unhappy with overall output/performance of subs. I exchanged these for 10w3v3 's and the difference in output is noticeably better with the JLs.

I have found my subwoofer!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a system about 4 years ago in my '05 GTO. I used the single din Alpine of the day. I first heard Focal speakers & I was floored. I used a 2 way 6.5" system up front & a set of their coaxes for rear fill. They are not cheap. I chose a JL 500/5 with a JL 10W3v. I was never happy with the sub, always tweaking the crossovers. The bass was weak and flabby, I was considering a 2nd one. Then my luck changed. The 10W3 fried! came apart at the seams. A clean signal & power, there's no excuse. I finally found Focal subs and ordered a 10" right up. The difference is night & day! It rattles my ribcage, I would need 3 of those JL's to get near the response & clarity on this Focal. It does a lot with less power so your amp works less. I will get another for my other car. Try one.

Ohms law. A single dual 4 ohm sub can only be wired to. 2 ohm. Or 8 ohm. You need a second sub to do a series parallel wire to get a 4 ohm load[ Randall  Sep 20, 2015 ]
Yes[ Robert Turner  Oct 24, 2016 ]
yes, you have to wire them in parallelled, not in series. overall resistance will drop to two ohms, just make sure you do not over power the speaker. 500 watts maximum at 2 ohms.[ LINDA  Jan 09, 2014 ]
