Great speakers

Pros:

Cons:

Too harsh.

Mark from Ft Wayne, IN on 6/26/2018

2006 Ford Mustang

Have had these speakers for awhile now with a jvc head unit and have been disappointed. No matter how I adjust them they're too harsh while trying to maintain sound quality. Even with everything off and flat too harsh for me so would not recommend. Should of returned them when I could of and gotten something else. Got two sets too because of the deal. Volume is poor also without sound effects to boost volume. Too much sibilance no matter what, too harsh.

Pros: Can sound good and probably have more potential with an external amp.

Cons: Too harsh no matter what with jvc head unit, hard to enjoy even after many months of listening and messing with settings. Hurts my head.

Excellent replacements on my Miata. Direct fit right down to the screw locations. Fantastic sound on jvc deck power alone. Better match than the Infinities I usually buy.

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install in my 2006 F150. Crutchfield furnished wire adaptors with speakers. Sound is pretty good, definitely better than the 12 year old speakers that they replaced. One pair of the "scratch and dent" speakers I purchased had a "blown" speaker. Crutchfield replaced it quickly and without any issues. The customer service representative was friendly, and got the problem solved during the first call without spending a lot of time. I really felt he was interested in making a satisfied customer.

Pros: Better sound than the old factory speakers easy to install with furnished wire adaptors and master instruction sheet good customer service

Cons: Wish they had been a little more careful about checking returns before resale

Nice upgrade from factory

1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of my factory speakers in my '99 F-250 blew out. Not hard to to see why as they are pretty cheap. This was a great upgrade and very easy to install. The speaker grate did not fit as well as the originals but there was plenty of room to make it work and the included mounting screws were a little longer helping as well. This was an open box item and was top quality, as I expected from Crutchfield.

Pros: Easy to install. Much better sound than factory.

Huge upgrade over factory. Simple but quality.

Pros: Require very little power to sound great, still using factory head unit that was pushing 10w factory paper speakers and these still sound great.

Cons: None

2003 Ford Focus ZX3
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Four original speakers in my 2003 Ford Focus didn't produce any mid to lowish and I didn't know what to expect from a 6 by 8. Pretty much night and day difference. They don't bump like a 6 1/2" but I'm very pleased. The Focus has a factory sub that's pretty good and these give the mid fill that I was hoping for.

Pros:

Cons:

Pleasant upgrade from Factory Speakers

Scott Richard from Mesa, AZ on 10/26/2017

2002 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great step up from stock speakers on a 2002 Ford Truck. I think they need to break in for a bit before the same level of mid and low bass notes come back. That's one thing I'll give the stock speakers I replaced, they could produce a decent low-mid note and sounded very warm; however, hopelessly muddy or sharp high's. The combination of a new aftermarket stereo and new speakers allow for more fine tune adjustment of the sound to fit the trucks interior acoustics. Lets be real here for a minute. These are what I would consider OEM+ speakers and are fantastic for anyone on a budget to replace blown factory speakers or are just starting out in the car audio world to see if they really want to go through all the effort(sweat equity) of installing their own audio system. Do not expect mind blowing changes to your sound quality, expect a reasonable increase in clarity, quality of sound reproduction, and a consistent sound throughout the audible human hearing range. These speakers aren't meant to be competition level bass producers nor will they go loud enough to stand in for concert speakers. They will; however, let you blast all your favorite 90's hits, at higher than reasonable volume without making you feel like your ears are going to explode from your head from piercingly high treble notes nor tear themselves apart trying to hit sub 120hz frequencies. Added bonus of JVC's current Stereo + reduced price speaker combo makes these an amazing deal!

Pros: Clear sound throughout range, excellent mid to high sound. Never sharp or ear piercing unless you want to set your stereo to produce those sounds. Fit perfectly in stock Ford 6x8 speaker locations on front and rear doors. Absolutely great value

Cons: A Little lacking in bass but that's likely due to the break in period and that they aren't really designed for deep bass as much as all around OEM+ performance. May be able to improve bass with speaker baffles and sound deadening added to door panels. Speaker connection terminals are a bit on the chintzy side but I was able to get the Crutchfield supplied adapters connected one the less, just support the back of the plug with one finger and apply opposite pressure to the terminal when connecting

Decent upgrade but not up to par.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I chose these speakers being that they were 50% off (second pair) to replace my 27 yr old OEM speakers. They are an upgrade to my OEM speakers but nothing to brag about. I'm not sure if it's the combo of my JVC KD-X240BT receiver and these speakers or if I need some type of amp to compliment my setup. I will most likely return the speakers for something more enjoyable in the very near future.

Wanted to make an updated review. Good replacement for stock speakers, definitely an improvement. Easy to install.

Pros: Easy install, clearer sound, cheap upgrade

Cons: Be careful with terminals, can have piercing highs and I'd imagine could really use an external amp to shine at high volume. Sounds good, but not super clear at higher volumes combines with jvc 925bts head unit, better than stock though

JVC CS-DR6820

Mark from Ft Wayne, IN on 9/28/2017

2006 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound okay, have piercing highs and not very clear at even just 25/35 volume on my jvc receiver. Figured with new speakers and head unit you could turn it up while maintaining clarity. Couple tabs had to come off to fit and it was a very tight fit, particularly on drivers side. Should of maybe trimmed the tabs more, but fit in stock location. Also, the positive and negative terminals seemed very flimsy to me. Not sure how much of an improvement it is.

Pros: Cheap upgrade with 50% off deal, pretty easy to install

Cons: Piercing highs, flimsy terminals, tight fit and not sure how much of an upgrade it is

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After purchasing the JVC head unit, I took advantage of the 1/2 price matching speakers promotion and boy am I glad I did. I got 4 speakers for the price of 2. What a deal! I got the 6x8 and they fit like a glove in my F-150. Installation was very easy and with the included pig tails, they wired right up with virtually no effort. They sound excellent. Keep in mind, the system I bought was not a high power, sound thumping system. But for me, it was an excellent value and a superb upgrade from my stock setup. Also, customer service at Crutchfield is top notch and I would rate that an A++. All that wrapped up with free 2 day shipping (in most cases), you cannot go wrong with Crutchfield.

Pros: Excellent sound, very simple install

Cons: None

2011 Kia Rio

Installed gear: Pioneer AVH-4200NEX HD head unit Pioneer GM-D1004 4 channel amp 45w RMS Car: Kia Rio 2011 Sedan Install location: rear deck. Review: Sounds good with 45w pushing them. Of course bass is better than factory. Mids and highs better too. Woofer cone is impressively rigid. Build quality is mostly good with the exception of the plastic surround. I would prefer a stiffer and more durable material than what the garbage factory speakers had. The factory speaker surrounds broke during uninstall. I'm sure this won't appreciably shorten speaker life unless repeatedly installed and uninstalled (a real pain with the Rio rear deck and pointless), but I would like to believe that that I won't have to mess with installation anytime soon. Of note: I used the Pioneer sweep microphone to auto EQ the car, do distances, set crossovers, etc. For these speakers, the auto EQ disabled crossover and sent the full audio spectrum to the speakers. I think that's a pretty good recommendation that these speakers are capable when properly powered. Packaging was good. No problems other than the Rio rear deck being a little bit of a pain. Crutchfield MasterSheet for the Rio was excellent with only one minor error. (SRS screw was a metric bolt rather than a Phillip's screw.) Very satisfied.

Pros: Price point Decent when amped Mostly good build quality Similar build style to company's Kenwood Excellon 6x9 speakers.

Cons: Would prefer better surround material.

Cannot expect super base from a small speaker. Crisp treble and mid-range, better than the paper cone factory speakers they replaced. Went in quickly w/ the adapter connector, big plus/no soldering. Hey, it's a car, one doesn't expect a sound stage in a convertible.

I am not sure if it these speakers or the JVC KD-R370 CD Receiver unit I had installed. I am a musician and I like my stereo loud and clear and these speakers didn't do it. When turned up past 25 on the stereo they sound like they are blown already which is a disappointment. My stock Ford stereo speakers delivered better sound when that stereo was on 9. Installation was easy. The speaker wire adapters that were included were perfect. The only issue I had was the 2 prong connectors were pretty thin and i bent those trying to connect the wires. Just have to watch when connecting those. I bought the JVC cd player and front and rear speakers together and everything was there to make the installation the easiest i have ever had for the head unit part. Overall, very satisfied and glad i ordered. The speakers sound really good over the stock ones I had. More crisp and no more distortion is very nice. Very happy and definitely would order again.

Features

Balanced Dome Tweeter: Each speaker has a PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced dome tweeter. PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone; balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

Mounting Applications: JVC describes the CS-DR6820 as a 6x8, but it also fits many 5x7 applications. Please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit.
