Get more out of your Android™ smartphone
With JVC's Smart Remote Android app, you can use the touchscreen on your compatible Android phone to control the action using finger swipes and gestures — for example, tap the screen to play and pause, or swipe right to skip forward a track. Install your Android phone in a mount, and you'll be able to reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road.

Use it with two phones at the same time
You don't have to choose between your personal and business phones any more — the KD-A735BT's built-in Bluetooth lets you pair two phones at once. When a call comes in, the receiver blinks either blue or red, telling you at a glance if your call is coming from home or the office. Just tap the volume knob to answer a call.

Higher-power USB connection
JVC upped the power in their USB port, which lets you keep your smartphone charged, even when it's doing several tasks at once. And with your smartphone connected, you can listen to its internal memory as one source and access the little microSD card as another.

Control PANDORA® Internet radio
JVC makes it easy to play your favorite PANDORA® Internet Radio stations. iPhone users can control PANDORA® when connected to the USB slot, while Android and Blackberry owners get full control of Pandora over the Bluetooth connection, depending on your phone's features.

Separated Variable Color display
The KD-A735BT features a super cool display that lets you change the colors on the controls independent from those on the screen — with over 30,000 possible shades per side. You can match your receiver to your dash lighting, support your favorite team, or just make a statement.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

iPod note:
If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Cons: Only lasted 4 years. Bluetooth would echo sometimes . I used USB most of the time.

    Bluetooth frustration

RPK from Pittsburgh, PA on 12/24/2013

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit has been discontinued but I wanted to be on record anyway. I bought this unit for its Bluetooth calling feature and in this regard the unit fails miserably. After about 6 months the unit developed a loud ECHO on the other end of the phone call. Monkeying with the settings of the unit does nothing. Calls are intolerable for the listener. I sent it back to JVC for repair and it was sent back in the same state. This unit is worthless to me. It can display all the colors in the world but it can't make or receive phone calls with acceptable quality. VERY DISAPPOINTED. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. Crutchfield has been no help. I also think the buttons are too small and hard to press.

    Pros: Like the USB.

Cons: The buttons are too small. Bluetooth call quality is terrible.

This radio worked great for 7 months. Then one day it started acting screwy on displayed err messages. I sent it back to Crutchfield 3 weeks ago and they don't know when it will be fixed.

Pros: Easy to install. Great tech support during installation.

Cons: Pray it doesn't break. Who knows when you will get it back.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Since this product is no longer available, I will focus on one aspect of the component that is quite simply a major frustration. It is not intuitive and seems to have glitches. I could spend my entire commute just trying to get it to recognize my iPhone which is already set up in the Bluetooth menu. I have to turn the unit off and back on, then go to the phone's menu and reconnect it. It has the ability to connect with up to four or five Bluetooth devices, but it seems impossible to switch between devices. It does not remember which device it was connected to last, rather it always chooses my wife's phone which is registered as device 2. When I connect the iPhone via the USB cable, it should recognize it. However, I sometimes have to shut the head unit off and back on for it to recognize it. I wish I could trade this unit in for an Alpine unit

Pros: Sounds good and is affordable

Cons: Read about my frustrations in my review which have to do with its difficulty to connect my iPhone via Bluetooth or USB.

Gave this to my son for christmas. We installed it over the holidays. Instllation in his '98 MeBe SUV was quite simple. The conversion/adapter from Crutchfield made the job quite simple. Had to get an updated wire diagram from Daniel S at Crutchfied. Sound is great. Color match for OEM lighting look... priceless/

    Pros: variation in lighting themes

Cons: Needed additional diagram for the Bose system.

    1998 Toyota Corolla
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was rather straight forward like any other car stereo system, so that went swimmingly. The sound was amazing, especially compared to my previous Alpine receiver. The buttons, though, leave a lot to be desired. They aren't clear on what they will activate. Also, when hooked up to an iPhone 5, it would frequently "lose its place" and either have audio hiccups or just stop playing audio completely. Pulling the faceplate off and reinserting it was the only resolution. Then, 2 months into it, the unit wouldn't output any music, but would output the button beep sounds. Then it wouldn't switch out of the CD input. Then, not a day later, it wouldn't power on. Troubleshooted with Crutchfield and JVC over the course of three weeks to determine it needed to be sent in for a warrantied repair. It leaves my hands the end of January, and now, at the end of February, a month later, it is still waiting for parts. United Radio, the ONLY service center in the entire United States, located in New York state, tells me they are backed up. Four part orders later, and no prioritization for an older repair (unless most of their repairs take weeks to months), and still no resolution. They have asked me to contact JVC and they will not do anything, either. They say that it is their policy to have a repair occur on warrantied items, not replacements, refunds, or anything else. They did not offer any sort of resolution besides that they will wait for ever slow United Radio to continue.

    Pros: Great sound. Pretty/Gaudy lights.

Cons: Poor build quality for their "top of the line" Arsenal line. Cheap feeling buttons. Quickly failing unit and poor warranty.

Ordered the unit well in time for Christmas. Went to install it and the Bluetooth feature did not work. Crutchfield technical support informed me that the unit was discontinued so they couldn't provide a replacement. I was advised to choose another receiver. They sent the second receiver about a week later but without any of the mounting hardware. Now I'm waiting on that. I'm not very impressed with how much effort has been involved with having to deal with Crutchfield and the fact that harnesses have to be soldered together.

Bought this so my wife could stream Pandora/iHeart Radio from her android phone. Sound is great. Bluetooth works pretty good for calls and streaming audio.

Pros: Colorflow display looks cool. Bluetooth connection pretty reliable. Bluetooth phone quality is pretty good. AUdio quality much better than stock unit I removed

Cons: Pandora over bluetooth does not display station, artist, etc. And does not thumbs up/down songs as advertised. It just says "STOP" all the time. A little disappointed about that.

A lot of people find it annoying to have to use the wheel to scroll through everything, I find this no problem at all. It's simple to use and get used to. The sound is amazing; I'm STILL using my stock speakers and it sounds much better. (I do plan on upgrading everything). The color choices are awesome, I can drive down the road with it going through any of the colors at once, or choose a color to match my other color, which is red. It was simple to install and came with excellent instructions. This item has been discontinued as of now, but if you want to get a good stereo you can not go wrong with this one! Find it, buy it!

Pros: Easy to use and install, no issues found after using it for a week.

Cons: None that I can see!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Man was I surprised witht this head unit. I've got a CDA 105 in my other car and this JVC beats it hands down. Good, clean sound but what I really like is the adjustability. I'm not a sound guy but was able to get much better sound out of my four speakers and little sub. It allows you to adjust a high pass and lo pass filter plus Q which I understand is the width of the bell curve of the response. Separate adjustments for bass, mid and treble. I send all the mid and high stuff to the 6" speakers and send the lows to the sub. Let's it run clean and loud. I love it.

Pros: Adjustability, good clean sound, decent power

Cons: It's a little slower reading the iPod at power up than my Alpine head unit.

The install sheets that came from Crutchfield were easy to follow. My son was able to get it set his way quickly just by looking through the manual. Pairing the phone and Ipod worked great.

Pros: Easy to set up and use Bluetooth phone and playlist works very well. Sound quality on both ends sounds good lots of options

Cons: Not really any for the install or the deck. The JVC android app is more trouble than it's worth

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this, the install went smooth into my daughters 2005 Accord. I had ti fiddle a bit to make the faceplate sit smooth but was able to make it work. Once in the system was a huge improvement to the stock system. A day or two after the install I was driving my daughters car at night when I realized there were no lights on the system. I called Crutchfield support and was told to remove the system and check the wiring. A bit of a pain as I am pretty careful when doing work like this but I did pull the system and did check the wiring, as was connected well. I then called the JVC service number on the back of their manual. The tech (who did not sound like he knew what he was doing) told me that in fact a lack of any lighting at night without first powering on the system was by design. Agian, I thought he did not know what he was talking about because who in their right mind would engineer a product that has you fumbling in the dark to press a little on/off button while driving down thw highway? I have installed plenty of after market head units (I currenly have a Panasonic in my truck as well as my son's car, both of which have lit displays when the key is turned). I recalled Crutchfield support and after some digging they confirmed that the JVC does not illuminate unless you press the power button. In JVC's defense, it appears they are not the only ones to do this. At any rate this is an absurd (and potentially dangerous) way to engineer the product. This has been returned.

    Pros: Sound good, looks good

Cons: No illumination unless you press the power button, dangerous way to engineer their product.

Excellent deck with a couple of drawbacks to be aware of

ChuckM from Calgary, AB on 12/31/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have installed two of these, one in my wife's 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, and one in my 1999 Ford SVT Contour. I've been using this deck for about six months. It's been an excellent performer with a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. I would buy this again. The Bluetooth streaming has been rock solid for us with great sound quality, something that was very important to me; I wanted to dispense with the AUX cable but not if Bluetooth streaming made the music sound like 64kb mono. Install info: For my wife's van, I used the PAC RP4-CH11 wire harness and steering wheel interface (see separate review; works great) and the Posi Products wire harness connectors (you screw them together instead of crimping or soldering -- also great). I also used some foam tape (Hushmat Quiet Tape, but there are other brands) to wrap all the Posi connectors and other hard plastic bits of the wire harness to prevent them from rattling behind the deck; it worked wonders. I don't know if you can buy that stuff on Crutchfield as I had some already handy.

Pros: - Excellent sound quality. - Lots of outputs (5V instead of 2.5V too!) in case I decide to install anything fancy later on. - Bluetooth streaming works very well with my Galaxy S3, my wife's S2, and our oldest son's iPod Touch. - Decent EQ that lets you change frequencies as well as levels, e.g. you can specify that "bass" cuts off at 100Hz, 80Hz, 60Hz. It's choosing among presets, but still, a nice touch at this price point. - Not too "showy." Turn off demo mode and "colorflow" and you're g

Cons: - No built-in deck mic, just a wired condenser. Longest part of both installs was running that mic from the headliner to the deck. - My old, cheap Sony was smart enough to only trigger the power antenna when the radio was on; for other sources the antenna stayed down. This JVC sends the signal every time you turn on the deck. - "Button zone" LEDs very bright; my night setting is Red 1, Blue 0, Green 0 and it'll do, but I still wish it was dimmer at night. The "display zone" dims very well.

Excellent stereo for the price! Installation instructions were easy to follow, and Crutchfield supplied everything necessary for the install. Sound is great with factory speakers, and the daughter loves the capability of changing the display color. Setting up preset stations, bluetooth, pandora for bluetooth, ipod isn't very difficult, but you do need to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Bluetooth sound quality is fine, but I recommend installing the microphone close to the driver's head location.

Pros: Great sound with a lot of functionality. Like the external microphone, bluetooth, usb, and audio jacks. Great to have usb on front and back of the stereo.

Cons: Nothing major, but the buttons are rather small.

Overall an excellent choice to replace my factory radio. Bluetooth music from my Droid Razor Maxx sounds great and the hands free phone sound is also very good. Didn't even unwrap the remote ( I never understood the need for a remote in a vehicle ). I wouldn't bother with the phone app to control the radio. I downloaded it because I'm, well, an appoholic, but it seems pretty useless and I will probably uninstall it soon. Overall this unit is a good value and I would recommend it as a replacement for a factory unit.

Pros: Nice sound, good look, excellent FM reception, Bluetooth works well. Excellent value!!

Cons: Multi-use buttons are small and close together. Controls aren't real intuitive. Remote and phone app are pretty useless.

I read almost every review on the site before getting this unit. I was very pleased with my decision. This unit is packed with features and options. I was able to get a this unit on sale during the thanksgiving sale. This unit replaced my existing factory unit on a 97 Maxima GXE. The feature set on this unit includes phone integration via Bluetooth, CD receiver, basic AM/FM tuner, audio playback from an Android or iPhone via Bluetooth (by far my favorite feature) and among other great features. Didn't think I would really use the remote but I use it all the time. The high voltage output generates great sound and the per defined EQ settings are great for all types of music. The unit comes with two USB connections, one right on the unit and the second option is to use a cable that can be hidden behind the unit or run it behind the panel and into your glovebox (which is what I did). The first USB slot is used to for the Bluetooth module.

Pros: Feature packed High voltage output Room for upgrades (Subwoofer) Audio playback from your Android or iPhone via Bluetooth Phone integration via Bluetooth Voice command access to basic phone features Remote control access

Cons: I wish the layout on the unit would have been a bit cleaner. There are some digital audio receivers that have a cleaner layout but the lack of a CD player turned me away.

I wanted a radio to go in to a nice SLK 320 and not look too new and out of place. This radio was the ticket. The sound complemented the factory Bose speakers and made for great overall this quality.

Pros: Ease of installation. Sound quality. Ability to color code the LED display matching original factory gauges.

Cons: It took a little creativity to a fix the sleeve for mounting the new head unit into the original factory radio slot. It only took a short time to figure it out.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and bluetooth integration is a breeze making it easy to listen to music or for talking and Pandora works great too. I really like the ability to customize the color schemes as well. Overall, I'm really glad I purchased this unit!

Pros: Great sound, bluetooth is easy to work with, great value

Cons: The light that emits off the display can be too bright, especially at night

Purchased this radio for $100 when they had a $50 discount. Excellent radio that was straight forward and easy to install. Good sounding radio. Bluetooth works like a charm. The wife (who I bought this for) likes the configurable color schemes and adds to the coolness factor. Looks and feels like a radio worth much more than what I paid.

Pros: Good sound. Trouble free Bluetooth integration. Easy to install. Configurable display. Great overall value.

Cons: Clock has some funky set up which kept resetting the time to an hour ahead. After monkeying around found the proper setting to switch this off. Honda wiring does not allow for the stock subwoofer to be powered with the wiring harness. This was minor as the lack of that subwoofer made seemingly no impact on good sound.

This was a gift for my husband, and he has been very happy with the performance of the stereo, and I was thrilled with the price! I purchased the installation kit along with the stereo and took them both in to a local professional installer, and it couldn't have been easier! I had been shopping online for a completely wrong type of stereo for my husband's truck until your website showed me exactly what type to find! The stereo is awesome, and has all the bells and whistles we were looking for. Doing business with Crutchfield is something I look forward to again in the future. : )

I am really enjoying this radis. Bought this unit to have a Bluetooth capable radio. I was pleased with the USB and 3.5 inputs, but mostly needed Bluetooth for my phone calls and music playback from my phone. Also radio reception is much better than my previous unit (JVC HD-HDW10). Never really used the HD radio in the old unit due to poor reception so I got this unit without HD. Bluetooth works well, although it takes5-10 seconds to pair up after turning the unit off. Not really an issue now that I know, but at first I thought it wasn't connecting and I reset my phone trying to connect. My only complaints are the glare off the front plastic face and not enough bass. Sometimes it is hard to read the display in bright daylight. Bass is not real strong without a subwoofer.

Pros: Bluetooth, good reception, good sound, value for the money. Excellent service from Crutchfield.

Cons: Glare in bright light. Weak bass over stock speakers.

I would call this receiver an extreme value with what is included, primarily the Bluetooth function. I can speak on the phone, listen to my music from my iphone5 and stream Pandora from my phone as well. Awesome, especially with Siri helping. Works perfectly and the quality of sound is amazing, even before I installed the new speakers I ordered at the same time. Install was a breeze. The instructions from Crutchfield were very helpful and so were the videos I looked up on Google. I highly suggest you do the same before installing either stereo or speakers. As always the Crutchfield staff is tremendous both during my order and a couple of times I needed to call tech support. I had two issues which they answered correctly and immediately the first time.

Pros: Value, Bluetooth functions, ease of use, quality of sound and craftmanship.

Cons: It doesn't make breakfast or coffee in the morning while I drive to work. JVC should really fix that.

Installed in a 1970 Datsun 510 with ease. Just using one of the preset EQ settings just sounds awesome. I was pulled towards this head unit seeking the 6 preamp lines for the three amps I have installed and the 4.8 volts that these feed to the amps. Also the multi color display with separate options for the button and display colors is a great feature. This way I was able to match the factory dash lights. The sound quality is very good. I had a top of the line alpine receiver but 5 years ago that was already outdated, I was a bit worried if the JVC could deliver the sound quality I was expecting but I was totaly amazed. I have six infinity referance speakers installed. Two 6 1/2"s on the doors, two 6 1/2"s on the rear deck and two 3 1/2"s up in the front dash factory location working as a center channel ( correct bought from Crutchfied a few years ago) and the sound is just great. Just installed this about a week ago, replacing a Monsoon factory head unit in my VW. I'm amazed that you can get this sound quality and feature set at this low-end price point. The iPod interface is reasonably intuitive, especially considering that the display only gives you one line of text at a time to work with. I'm happy with Bluetooth, both for streaming audio from my Android phone and for hands-free calling. The mic isn't very high-gain, so I wasn't able to tuck it out of sight behind the sunroof/dome light panel where VW intended - but once I moved it out into the open, just inboard of my sun visor up where the windshield and headliner meet, people can't even tell that I'm using a handsfree setup. Tuner sensitivity is fine; haven't even used the CD player yet, but can't imagine there'll be any room for complaint there, either. I'm sure more expensive units are better, but this is just ridiculously good for the price. I'm completely satisfied.

Pros: Extraordinarily good value; competent at everything it does. It's amazing that a head unit this good can be this cheap.

Cons: I wish the EQ settings weren't buried under so many menu layers, but the easy-access factory choices are serviceable (and since one of the easy-access ones is "user," I could take some time and tweak it just how I wanted, I suppose). I also wish the mic were more sensitive. But these are very minor quibbles considering the low price.

got this radio because my old one broke .. and have to say that in hindsight I would have loved to see the old one breaking earlier ;-) . This is a nice radio, and so far - after one week - I have to say that it definitely does what it's promising. Especially the iPhone integration rocks, both for the Apps and the phone usage. Sound is great, too. I personally have to get used to the every-changing colors but the kids won't allow to change it ;-)

Pros: Easy installation, mostly easy and intuitive usage, great sound and functionality.

Cons: The control knob has dual function, acting as volume control (turning, as usual), and other things (pressing the button), depending on the mode. I have yet to get used to this dual-mode, and it happens to me that I want to control the volume, but accidentally press the button, too. A bit disturbing now and then, but probably more a monkey training exercise than a real issue. Sorting of contacts in phone is based on the first name and not on the last name, so remember your contacts well.

I can even connect a Sansa MP3 player and it recognizes the WMA/MP3 files on it an plays them so I am not tied to an Apple product for music and audiobooks. This head unit has great value in my 04 Nissan Sentra Spec-V. The sound quality is very good. Better than what I had installed previously. I had an older Pioneer Premier model that still worked but was looking pretty used up. I noticed right away from the JVC that the sound was much fuller and just sounded cleaner. I have Rockford Fosgate aftermarket speakers installed. 2-ways in front & components in the rear deck. There also 2 factory tweeters installed in the front panels. I also have a Kicker 6.5 in sub installed in the back factory panel. This head unit lets me crank it up more with clean sound with all the EQ settings. The bluetooth works great. I synced it with my phone easily and it sounded great. I don't have android so I can't comment on the swipe method. Navigating menus is a little hard at first but a couple of days later I got used to it and I like it. One shortcut I like is if you hold down the EQ button on the face it brings up your basic Sub, Bass, Mid, Treble settings. I also love the color adjustments. There are so many different ways to change the colors. Its amazing. This JVC unit was worth the great price on Crutchfield.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I listen to Pandora in my car a lot. I recently got an iPhone 5, which required me to change my iPhone integration setup (long story). When shopping for a receiver with USB input, I thought Pandora integration would be a GOOD thing. But it turns out to be quite the opposite: When the phone is docked, Pandora won't allow me to control Pandora from the phone, only from the receiver. This is supposedly a safety feature, but I don't see how fiddling with buttons and knobs to select a station is anything but more dangerous than simply tapping on the station on the screen of the phone. As long as Pandora is running, even in the background, Pandora is pretty much all you can get out of your iPhone. Put it on the dock and Pandora starts playing automatically. Pause Pandora and start playing the Podcast or Music app, and the receiver is convinced all you are doing is Not Listening To Pandora. The moment you try to adjust the volume, Pandora starts back up again, and your other audio is paused. The only way I can find around this is to force quit Pandora. Pandora and JVC support have both told me there is no way to disable this feature. You can get around it by using Bluetooth audio, but if you want to charge off the USB port, this means you have to switch the input every time you dock the phone.

Pros: Decent sound, has an FM tuner.

Cons: "Pandora integration" turns out to be more a warning than a feature bullet point. Button design is ridiculous: crazy shapes, tiny, all clustered together. The operation of a car radio needs to be simple and intuitive for safety's sake and sanity's sake. This fails on both counts. Also, the demo mode with the changing colors is just godawful.

After owning a Pioneer DEH-P9400BH for six months and not being happy with the Bluetooth performance or the USB file browsing the store agreed to replace it with another unit of my choice; enter the JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT. Wow, what a difference! I remember JVC being in the dumps some years back and was very skeptical, but after acquiring Kenwood they got their act together; this unit rocks in every way! I'm talking hands free with no problems, USB file browsing is much better (the Pioneer drops you back in the root no matter how many folders you are in so you have to start at the beginning when looking for the same genre/artist/etc, this is frustrating (especially when driving), and the sound - it actually sounds better than the Pioneer! I also love the Pandora connection from my phone! I spent much time tuning both head units, the Pioneer sounded great, but the JVC beats it; deeper bass, crisper highs. To top it all the JVC is less expensive so I actually got money back for upgrading to the better unit. The display is not as nice as the Pioneer's but this doesn't matter to me, it is nice enough; no HD radio, but I can't tell the difference in sound, and I still get station name and song text. I tried working with Pioneer by email, but they basically told me "too bad" that is how the unit work, no firmware update, nothing else, not even offer help configuring it, I felt like they blew me off so after being a loyal fan I'm phasing out all of my Pioneer products in time.

Pros: Sound - USB file browsing - Bluetooth performance (I have an HTC Sensation Android phone) - Pandora connection from phone which enables you to control Pandora from the head unit, I have not heard a commercial yet, and at night you don't have the phone's bright screen bothering you.

Cons: Not the best looking unit at first, but when you hear it and work it gets a lot better looking. One of the USB ports is also taken by the included Bluetooth adapter, so I'm using the front for BT and the rear for a 32GB flash drive in my glove compartment.

I'm delighted with the unit and it really helps the sound, but the bluetooth is great. The unit went into the Escape very easily and the usual wonderful Crutchfield instructions really helped. Crutchfield Service - I ordered this on a Thursday night before 6 PM. You know, the stereo was delivered by UPS before 2 PM to my home. I'm darned impressed - great job guys.

Pros: Great unit - a ton of features and functions for a very reasonable price - was a bargain during their recent sale on this. Installed easily into a Ford Escape with all the components needed to do a nice, neat job. Sounds Great Bluetooth (included) works very well - I even have voice dialing. Good Android phone control using both AUX and Bluetooth connections.

Cons: Buttons are small - seems to be endemic to 1-DIN units that pack all of the features and functions this one has. The remote supplied should help, and I may try the JVC Android remote control app as well.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This a great receiver, unbelievable value at the price Crutchfield has it on sale for and would still be a bargain at twice the price. I installed this unit in a 2002 Ford Escape and for now am leaving the factory speakers. I hope to upgrade them soon but for now the improvement in sound quality is very noticeable. I love the equalizer. It really allowed me to tailor the curve for the crappy factory speakers and I think once they are replaced, this unit is going to rock. The custom color settings were great for letting me match the lights in my instrument panel. My wife thought that looked really nice. I haven't had a chance to evaluate the phone and mic clarity aspect of the Bluetooth functionality but the wireless audio streaming from my Android phone, as well as with Pandora, is fabulous. Less wires is a good thing. Overall, great buy!

Pros: Great sound and packed with features.

Cons: Single din size makes for cramped controls and lots of layered menus for changing anything.

Awesome stereo - has EVERYTHING I was looking for...and more!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit has exactly what I was looking for, bluetooth, Aux input in front AND back, external microphone to help pick up voices. It easily paired with my iphone and my husband's. I don't agree that it's difficult to go through the menus - it' was pretty easy for me. I was able to do most everything the first few times I used it without having to resort to the book. It's just that it does so many things - that's why there's a lot to learn. And the color choices are pretty cool too. :) The only problem we've had so far was when we both were in the car with paired iphones, while streaming music with bluetooth, the unit seemed to get confused on which phone to use. But there may have been something we should have done so the unit knew exactly which iphone to use? It was still very new for us at the time. Anyway, sound, looks, fit is great! Installation was pretty easy - I did it myself using the instructions. It was a little confusing at first but I was able to figure out that all the colored wires matched (even though the colors were slightly different between the Crutchfield wiring harness and the JVC wires...they were still the same color). I connected the wires inside first (using heat shrink connectors and wire ties). That probably took the longest. Installing it in my 1994 Honda Civic was a breeze. Love this stereo! I am considering getting another one for my 2002 Miata...if it will fit. I'm sure the techs at Crutchfield will know for sure!

    Pros: Has EVERYTHING!

Cons: Aside from the bluetooth streaming music confusion (which could have been mine), there are absolute NO cons.

Great product! Anyone looking for a nice inexpensive head unit with all the bells & whistles, well look no further cuz this one is for you. In fact I've purchased 2 (one for each of my vehicles) and a friend of mine liked my unit so much he bought one after seeing all of the features. The icing on the cake though is that Crutchfield pretty much walk you through the install (very easy installation process) by way of the paper instructions, techinal support and the wiring harness/kit they send with the unit. I believe Crutchfield has the best customer service I've ever encountered.

So far, the unit has satisified what I was looking for in a car stereo system. It looks good, sound is good, and is easy to use. It was extremely easy to install on my own. I did use the tech service, but that was only because I needed help with the steering controls. Tech and sales service was beyond excellent. The only reservation I have with the unit is the sound quality through the microphone when using the Bluetooth. Friends on the other end of the line report the quality of sound is low and there is what sounds like traffic noise even when stationary. This may be my phone, so read this with some reservations.

Pros: Easy to install. Works with steering controls, Bluetooth, and can change the colors of face. Service from staff is excellent.

Cons: Bluetooth sound on reciever's end not clear. However, calls sound good through car speakers.

I do not have subwoofers but it has a very nice sound with factory upgraded speakers (Infinity). This stereo offers good connectivity with bluetooth and a front USB input for IPOD's and other USB devices.

Pros: Variable color display is a cool factor. Bluetooth is also a plus. Front USB input is great.

I bought this radio to replace the stock CD/radio in my 2007 Highlander Hybrid. The stereo is great and once I got it in it was really easy to set up and get it working. Definite upgrade in sound and now I'm considering upgrading my speakers :) I like that there is a variety of options to connect my iPhone (aux, USB and Bluetooth) which all were plug-and-play easy. A couple minor issues: when using BT connection, it takes 20 or so seconds for head unit to power up and connect with my phone--just takes a little longer than expected but not a big deal. My other issue is that the sound level is not the same depending on how I connect my phone--switching from BT to USB (to charge my phone, yay!) the sound is much louder on USB. Not major issues and I'm very happy with my purchase and think it's a great price. As for the kit, master sheet, etc....ordering from the Crutchfield website is amazing. I really like that I can put in my car model and get all the additional equipment and installation instructions. So simple. However, the instructions were not as idiot-proof as I would have hoped. It would be nice to have a little more text to go along with the pictures b/c it took me a bit to figure out the wiring and installation. The wiring adapter I got has a wire to hook up the steering wheel controls but I haven't figured out how to do it. It would be great if the instructions/master sheet could help out there. The kit fit perfectly and looks fine in my dash, no complaints.

Installed this unit in my 2007 Nissan Frontier. Read tons of reviews and comparisons for a deck that would optimize playing music from my iPhone. The deck connects quickly to my iPhone via Bluetooth. After the first Bluetooth connection the deck will remembers my phone an automatically syncs up with my phone when I get in my truck. I do turn off the Bluetooth function on my phone to preserve battery life when not in my truck. When I get in the truck I just turn on Bluetooth on my phone, open up Pandora, and rock out. The calling features are super cool too. Previously I just used my phones speakerphone function. Never really liked it cause I thought my phones speakerphone was to quiet. Now I can use my cars stereo system. I was able to route the wired microphone behind my dash and up the side of the steering column. i placed it on the steering column between steering wheel and dash. Looks very clean and well hidden. People I talk to say it sounds very clear. I don't have to raise my voice at all. Another cool feature is that you can change the color of the unit's lights. I was able to match the color of my trucks instrument panel perfectly. So at night everything looks uniform. My wife is super jealous and wants me to order one for her 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I don't let her sync her phone up to my truck cause the music she listens to is garbage.

The first unit failed within 3 weeks after installation. Compact disk would not eject and the Source selection for Bluetooth and CD ceased to function (were not even visible selections) and the unit would error out. JVC unit reliability was disappointing but Crutchfield Customer Service was great! Received the replacement unit immediately, no questions. My first comment is if you are considering whether to purchase your audio components from another company, STOP! Crutchfield is great! They provide a great assortment of audio equipment at a competitive price, with plenty of information to help you with your decision, then they provide outstanding instructions on how to install, including all the necessary ancillaries and finally they back it up with great Service. I just dropped $400 on upgrading my sound system for my Wrangler and I'm more impressed with Crutchfield than anything else. Mind you I like the products I purchased, but Crutchfield was an unexpected positive. As for the JVC unit, the jury is still out...

Pros: Great sound and enough power for me Bluetooth interface with my iPhone is sweet

Cons: Reliability. Infant mortality on any electronic device can happen so I'm not throwing in the towel yet. Bluetooth recognition is slow, but works great once it connects. Radio User interface is poor. Setting the first 6 presets is fine, but figuring out how to use the other 12, well...I gave up Agree with other reviewers, the user interface/menu structure requires a really good memory.

As always I was well taken care of by Crutchfield & there salesperson (Larry) which answered all my questions & help me decide between two different radios. Larry was very knowledgeable & helpful even though he had been working for Crutchfield for less than a year. That goes to show me that Crutchfield makes sure not to just hire anyone to service there customers. I have been a long time customer and have never been disappointed in any purchased product or with there sales staff.

This cd receiver is top notch. Installation and set up was simple. The unit quite intuitive. However, I have owned JVC's units for many years. This was the first time I bought a cd receiver from Crutchfield, but considering all the freebee's that came along with it's purchase, I'll do it again. Good sound through the bluetooth on both ends of the conversation. Streams music well over bluetooth from iPod/iPhone/Android devices equally well. As well as CD's, flash drives, and iPod/iPhone/Android devices through the USB port. I coupled this with a pair of Kicker DS68.2 component speakers in the front doors, and Kicker DS68 2-ways behind the seat of my single cab ranger, and a 10" woofer. The woofer is powered by a small 250 watt amp. No amp for the other speakers, and it doesn't need any. This unit pushes them just fine. Gets really loud. Adjustments to the audio setting are easy. You can pick about any color you want for the display and button zones. You can change the colors seperatly or together. Going to get another for the wife's truck.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this CD and media receiver. Everything is better than what the original receiver in my van had. It receives stations very well, and it ties in with my Samsung Galaxy S2 quite well, though not perfect. The bluetooth is an older standard on the dongle that JVC gave me with this unit, and taking my phone in and out of bluetooth range of the receiver while it was turned on in the car made my phone cranky a couple times, so I had to learn to avoid doing that. Other than that, though, it's great. My phone streams whatever I want from my phone, and when in USB mode will stream and play GPS from my Android Google Navigator very well. The receiver unit comes with a remote mic provided, I put mine just above my dash display, and it sounds pretty good and works very well. As long as you are connected via bluetooth, the phone will override whatever you have playing, and you can answer your cell with the push of a button on the receiver. Gotta admit, I haven't even tried using the CD

Pros: Ties all my mobile media together, streams, hands-free phone in the car, sounds pretty good,

Cons: * Could use a little more power, so if you want it to really kick mid- to higher-end speakers, you'll need amps. * Haven't found a way to have Android navigation override all functions like the phone does. * Feature Navigation and setup isn't perfect, but it's not bad. Good for the type of device this is, meaning no touch screen and only knobs and buttons on a single din unit.

Started out just wanting to upgrade so I could have an aux input in my '04 F-150 S-Crew. Glad I went with this unit. After installation I immediately paired my iphone without any problems. Streaming Pandora is a snap and can be done with the Bluetooth and/or with USB. Great sound with my newly installed Sound Ordinance P-57's and fairly easy to use. Had to experiment with mounting the microphone for the phone feature and found that the ideal location is at the top of the door frame near the driver seat. After doing this I discovered that the mic sensitivity can be adjusted also. Lots of great features and customization options. Installation was easy, but I had to track down some screws to mount it to the dash kit. I originally mounted with the DIN sleeve but found that it set too far in the mount kit. Had to pull it back out and mount with m5 x 3/8 screws to get it to the correct mount location. Unit did not come with mounting screws... (trip to hardware store and a buck fifty took care of the problem) All-in-all... superior upgrade for the price!

Pros: Bluetooth works great Custom color options Great sound with many options Many sound adjustments

Cons: Wish the clock display was bigger Did not include screws to mount to dash kit

My daughter was very excited about this radio and all the cool stuff it did. So many color changes, and display options; connection to her phone was a snap. No complaints so far. Dims with her other dash lights between day and night. Changes color for day time display versus nightime display. Very awesome radio for the money.

Pros: Easy to use. Wiring was easy with Crutchfield's awesome technical assitance.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's been about 8 years since my last build in a car so I was completely clueless when I started looking for my '02 Yukon. I was looking for an overall upgrade to the factory system but was given a strict budget from the boss (my wife). Through many hours of research and trips to the local shops I decided to give the JVC a shot. It was mostly due to the fact that it had a pigtail for the rear usb port and aux that I could move to different location in my dash (I don't like how most other decks force you to use the front usb and aux, it's just ugly and cheap looking). The 2 year warranty and 4.8 volt outputs sealed the deal. It's a great sounding deck with cd's, and I was surprised by the bluetooth audio quality from Pandora (not great but better than I was expecting). I haven't tested MP3's via usb yet but would expect good results and I didn't buy it for use w/ my phone so I probably won't be checking that at all. I've been able to get a sound that I really like using the available EQ adjustments and since I'm not running a front amp having the crossovers built into the deck help keep my mids and highs crisp and clean. I'm running this deck with two sets of Polk DB651's and an older Fosgate P3001 mono amp pushing a single Fosgate R2D4-12 in a sealed box. For a budget system upgrade I'm extremely happy and I was very appreciative of Crutchfield and the serivce I received from Artie. Thanks.

Pros: Great value for the price, excellent sound from cd's, very flexible setup options, not flashy (once you turn off the demo mode) and unassuming, pigtail for rear usb and aux inputs, you can remove bluetooth adapter and have two usb ports available if you want. Two year warranty and hi-voltage pre-outs for expansion.

Cons: Not the best laid button scheme and the menus take a bit to learn (read the manual and it's not so bad). The remote is a bit small for my liking. Just a general overall gripe to all manufacturers - stop with the front panel usb and aux in please.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed this unit and it works perfectly. It is a vast improvement over the factory unit that it replaced. It seams to have brought the old original speakers in my van back to life. I plan to replace all eight speakers soon and can just imagine how good it will sound then. I had been to two car audio stores in Houston and asked if I could just buy a head unit that could interface with the Infinity sound system in my van. They were "unsure" but wanted to try to fit one in. I didn't like their "trial & error" approach with my money and my vehicle. Then I remembered Crutchfield. After less than two minutes on the phone I had the answer to my problem and the JVC unit on its way, with all the necessary wiring and install kit thrown in for free. The detailed vehicle-specific install instruction printout was a nice touch. I'm sure I could have purchased this unit elsewhere but because of the very knowledgeable customer service personal, the wasted time and frustration were avoided. Plus the price was less than I expected for what this thing does. Plus fast shipping.

Pros: Easy to install. Compatible with my factory amp & speakers. Very powerful. Bluetooth feature is great, it paired with my i-phone easily and works seamlessly. I love the "hands free" freedom it gives me. Streams music beautifully. The remote works great and does a lot for such a small device.

Cons: Controls are not user-friendly. Too many steps to make adjustments for the various functions (bass, mid, treble, balance...). Some buttons are way too small to use quickly, especially while driving. Maybe I'm just old but it seems way too involved to make what should be simple adjustments. Face doesn't detach easily.

I was looking for a replacement for the malfunctioning stock unit in my car. I primarily wanted a unit with iPod integration and handsfree telephone capabilities. I originally considered the KD-X50BT and the KD-R730BT, but chose this model (KD-A735BT) because of it's similar features plus the 4.8v pre-amp outputs and a better warranty, all for well under $200. Been using the KD-A735BT for little over a month now. I love that it allows me to make/receive calls and will stream all the music on my iPhone all while it's still in my pocket. My only complaint about this function is that there doesn't appear to be an easy way to switch between audio sources when multiple devices are connected via bluetooth. For example if my wife and I are both in the car the bluetooth audio chooses one of our two iPhones as the music source. Should my wife tire of the music on my phone and want to listen to hers instead, we have to power off the unit and turn it back on and wait a minute or two while it reestablishes connections with the phones and respectively selects the device next available from the one it had used previously. Hopefully this can be addressed in a future firmware update. That one quirk aside, everything else seems to work as advertised. The KD-A735BT looks and sounds great. It has an ample amount of power on its own for most of us average people. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Plus, Crutchfield's included instructions made for a simple install.

Pros: Looks and sounds great. Bluetooth connectivity of up to 5 devices. iPod/iPhone integration.

Cons: Menus and controls are a bit awkward at first but easily learn-able. No apparent way to easily switch between Bluetooth audio sources.

Great deck. I bought it as a birthday present for my wife and installed it in her Mustang convertible. It was a breeze to put in, I read the instructions twice because 1) I am 56 years old and one of the first warnings I read was if you wire this wrong you could burn the unit out so I made sure it was wired correctly before I hooked up the battery. The special instructions that Crutchfield sent with the deck were great. I did not put in new speakers because a lot of the reviews said they did not so I wanted to see how it sounded before I added new speakers. It sound much better with just the new deck. The Blue tooth works great, I installed the microphone on the streering colum and you can not tell she is not using her phone, it may even sound better than just her phone. Reception is very good on both the AM & FM even though she mostly uses the Aux imput. She loves the deck, it only took me a few hours to install it, it works great so much so I am thinking of installing the same unit in my F150 truck. Could not be happier.

Pros: Love the Aux and USB inputs.

Time will tell about the build quality of this unit, but set-up was fairly easy, though the Bluetooth took a few passes to synch. Cool features and does everything it was advertised to do, and actually a little more. The interface kit to my 2003 GMC Sierra with Bose said that I would not have balance and fade functions, but the system retains those features. I set the factory system to a neutral position before removing it.

Pros: First "modern" car stereo for me, I guess. I took out the factory player because it quit reading CD's. Now, have the option of playing via a thumb drive, Pandora, or my iTunes. I don't need no stinkin' CDs!

    Cons: All good so far

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, let me say I'm a long time dedicated user of Alpine head units. Going with anything other than that, much less a JVC was not an easy decision for me. I bought a commuter car to go back and fourth to work with and not put a ton of miles on my other vehicles. A '91 BMW 318is to be exact. The previous owner put in a cheaper JVC unit from Wal Mart that didn't have preset buttons for the radio. Not a huge deal, but enough of a pain that I wanted to swap it out. Well, start looking at an new Alpine, right? I did some minor work on the car and part of that was replacing the speakers with some Polk Audio MM series, front and rear. While I was doing this I fixed a bunch of bad splices on the wiring harness. Bad news was that the PO didn't leave a bunch of extra wire. This is where the decision to look at another JVC came in. The existing harness would plug right in. I was surprised at the price of the JVCs given the amount of features they include. In fact, I almost thought it would be too good to be true. I was wrong. After using my Crutchfield rewards points, I got this shipped to my door for $120. The color change options are pretty sweet. To be honest, my ears can't really tell a difference between high end and middle of the road. I do know crappy, and this isn't it. Now my head unit matches the rest of the dash perfectly. Plus, the Bluetooth is really nice and easy to use. Having three sets of outputs is the icing on the cake.

Pros: Price, three sets of outputs, color options, Bluetooth.

Cons: Buttons for the presets are a little small.

I installed the JVC KD-A735-BT stereo in my 94 Blazer about a week ago and I have been very happy with the sound and look of the stereo. My original speakers which I am still using are not very good but the equalizer settings on the stereo are good enough to make them sound pretty good. I am still looking forward to upgrading the speakers for an even better sound. The stereo controls are a bit tough to get used to compounded by the fact that in my application the stereo is too far away from the driving position to adjust easily. I must try the remote to see if it controls enough functions to make it feasible. Also, the face is too hard to read during the daytime with the normal glare and brightness. Changing the color of the display does not help the visibility. Overall I am happy with the purchase and I do recommend this unit to everyone. Also I would recommend working with crutchfield. Teir advice and service were excellent and the give you everything you need at no charge to complete the installation.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Solid unit at a good value. Nice than stock in my VW Passat, and adds missing bluetooth phone connection front panel USB connection. I ended up adding the bluetooth receiver to the rear USB port and keeping the front available for charging phone, etc. Didn't realize the rear USB connector came with a long tail on it. Good part is that you have flexibility in placing the USB port. Bad part is that it's a lot of extra cable to stuff under the dash if you're not routing it somewhere. Bluetooth phone connection is mediocre; callers can easily tell it's bluetooth, and the sound on the other end is tinny no matter where you place the Mic or what settings you use. Front panel layout not awesome, but fine once you get used to buttons, etc. Sound quality a step up from OEM. Overall, pleased with purchase, but if I knew for sure another unit had great bluetooth, would have chosen that instead. Crutchfield sent wrong install parts, but immediately overnighted replacement parts at their cost. Everyone makes mistakes, but I was very impressed with how Crutchfield took care of it. Other than parts error, basic install was simple, with just a bit of a nuisance routing the bluetooth microphone wire.

Pros: Good value, solid build quality, good feature set

Cons: Adequate but not great bluetooth phone. Busy front panel which takes a tiny bit to get used to.

This is a pretty neat unit, I'm very satisfied with how it performs. There are a few issues that I find are pretty annoying, but they're not significant enough for me to exchange the unit. I would recommend this product if you can't decide which backlight color to go with, like me. The standard 'playing' state features rapidly changing colors, which looks pretty cool. Unfortunately, it also includes dynamic text that basically just advertises itself to the rest of the car. "Built in...bluetooth....USB....." that sort of thing. Maybe you can change that, I haven't looked into it yet. I have a bit of a problem with the navigation on this stereo (selecting a song), but that's where the remote control comes in. I didn't find myself using it at first, but I've found that it's very useful. I don't have to worry about being too distracted from driving as long as I'm using it. Also, it's cool if you want to give control to a friend. Overall, it's all good quality equipment and performs admirably. Just make sure to be aware of the Cons I point out, if you can deal with them, more power to you.

Pros: - Cool light-show - Good quality sound - Good quality equipment - Remote control - Easy to use

Cons: - Navigating is a little tough while driving - Can't use iPod to navigate through songs while plugged in via USB - Almost impossible to read during the day

I bought this about a month ago to replace the factory radio in my wife's 1999 Blazer (yeah, really). The installation was a "breeze" with the usual Crutchfield bag-o-parts-and-instructions (thanks!). I'm used to my Alpine CDA-9886 that I purchased for my car about 4 years ago. This JVC unit is MUCH better and was half the price. I know, time marches on, but JVC does a much better job with user interfaces and with internals like USB file structures. This thing is actually pretty easy to use, without memorizing the manual. Looks good and sounds better than the factory unit on factory speakers. On a recent 4-day vacation, the $6 USB stick plugged into the front of the unit worked flawlessly. Now I want one for my car. Why doesn't JVC have an Arsenal unit that has RDS, HD and Bluetooth?

Pros: Excellent value. Does it "all." User interface is well done. Bluetooth hands-free cellphone just works (everything included).

Cons: This is 2012, time to dump the CD player for more USB goodness. Who does CD's these days?

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I picked up this receiver to replace the stock one in our Ford Explorer. This is my third Crutchfield car receiver replacement installation in as many vehicles and it was just as easy as the prior ones. Many thanks to Crutchfield for making it so easy and doing all the heavy lifting for us laymen. The receiver is just fantastic. My wife and I can now very easily turn on bluetooth and connect our iPhones to the receiver and do everything we couldn't do before. After pairing them up, instantly everything is available. Songs for the kids, audio books and Pandora are all instantly accessible and easily controlled. Even the phone functionality seems to work well. We haven't had any complaints from friends we've talked to using the included microphone, which we attached just behind the steering wheel (the moving part) on the steering column, facing the driver. The bluetooth connection simply makes it so much easier to manage, I can't express it enough. The old earphone plug cable connection is gone and it's made using the phone in the car and moving it around much easier. We can even hand the phone back to the kids for them to turn on one of their songs and it will start playing through the speakers instantly. (They have to hand the phone back - we certainly don't let them hold on to it!) We're still learning more about it, but it is just incredible what this thing does for such an economical price. It sounds great, too! We HIGHLY recommend it.

Pros: VERY affordable Easily installed Simple one-time bluetooth pairing Hands-free phone microphone makes phone calls available through bluetooth connection Huge amount of customizable colors for faceplate Much better sound than original stock radio

Cons: One screw was missing from the receiver box for the rear support and I had to get one at the store which matched (though I was informed by Crutchfield that this was not critical) I would prefer the balance and fade settings were not so deep in the settings menu since we tend to adjust them frequently with the kids

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This inexpensive unit handles multiple bluetooth devices with aplomb: my two phones paired easily and reconnect seamlessly; iPhone voice dialing and music streaming work perfectly; feature phone (head unit based) works well; and, the headunit custom colors allows different color display flashing to indicate which phone is ringing. Installation in a 2012 Honda was simple and straight forward. The Honda Fit bezel looks very sharp. The Posi-products connectors saved time compared to crimp connectors, especially when I had to tweak the wiring. BTW, the orange/white radio illumination wire needs to be connected to the orange (not orange/white) harness wire. The display is very dim in daylight. The Honda Fit dashboard angles the head unit upward, so moderate to bright sunlight will easily wash out the display at its brightest setting.

Pros: Inexpensive, seamless control of two bluetooth phones, bluetooth music streaming, good iPhone control via bluetooth or USB cable.

Cons: Relatively dim display which can be washed out by sunlight, depending on exact orientation.

Overall, this has been a good head unit. Good sound, tons of features. Can pair with up to 5 bluetooth devices. Pretty easy install, went smoothly. Works great with my work blackberry and HTC Amaze, never have problems connecting. After my HTC Amaze died, I got a Samsung Galaxy S2 (same as my girlfriend) and we've both had random disconnect issues with the bluetooth and stereo. Update to ICS on the phone didn't fix it, so I'm guessing it's some kind of compatibility issue with the Samsung phone hardware.

Pros: Inexpensive for the functionality, tons of features.

Cons: Slow to connect to bluetooth, had problems with the Samsung Galaxy S2. Also, you might have to disable bluetooth on the primary phone if you want the head unit to pick up the audio from a 2nd phone.

All of my home audio components are JVC (Except for speakers), many of them are over twenty years old and still giving consistently solid performance. That's why I chose this model. I had some installation problems and ended up at Best Buy for the installation, but these were much more related to my car and my lack of experience than anything to do with Crutchfield.Tech support was very helpful and I never had to wait to talk to them. For the price, this stereo is truly outstanding. The features ,especially Bluetooth, are a big upgrade for my car. I feel like the factory Monsoon sound system is using much more of its potential with this unit, the sound is much fuller and more expanded than before. It's almost like driving a bigger car. I know I spent a little more than I expected with the installation, but I know I will be enjoying this stereo long after I have forgotten about the money. I will definitely do business with Crutchfield again.

Not bad for the money. Generally works ok, as long as you are willinging to constantly remind the unit how to work. Every time I plug in my iPhone to access music, it stops working after about 1 minute and I have to push a button acknowledging where I want the output...used to it now. The color system does not work the way the manual describes, but I was able to figure it out. Almost all incoming calls need to be rerouted from iPhone to JVC unit after placing or receiving. When I unpackaged the unit, it appeared to have been opened before. I guess my suspisions were correct...thought I ordered a new unit.

Pros: It allows me access to my music files, just not in the manner advertised or expected.

Cons: 4 calls to Tech support during installation of the system. I was told no special tools, only to find out instructions called for special tool. I received two wiring diagrams, neither of which where helpful. I made the third call to ask about missing mounting screws, and was told "the Mfg doesn't send those to us, so you have to buy them yourself." Final call lasted 1/2 hour trying to get bracket to fit, had to file it myself to make fit. Would have been nice if it was as easy as stated.

For less than $150 new with instructions, wiring adapters, etc, etc... included, this has to be one of the best values of all of the receivers offered by anyone. Having read some of the other reviews that list some negatives- you aren't going to get a magical looking cool display or a great amount of sound control from a receiver at that price point. But I would challenge anyone to try to find what this unit offers in other units costing $200. Setup is easy and the controls and menus all make sense and are easy to navigate through. Bluetooth has worked seamlessly- connects every time with either of 2 phones paired to it, and connects quickly with them. We use the Bluetooth to stream Pandora- and sound quality is very good. Incoming call quality is good- others we speak with tell us it sounds like we are talking to them from a landline- not "tinny" sounding and no echo. Was able to easily change display color on the unit to match the rest of our car's dash and console lighting perfectly. I am just about to begin adding aftermarket speakers, amp(s), and sub(s) to it and the 3 sets of 4.8V pre-outs will be put to good use. That is another huge value about this unit- it is ridiculously difficult to find high volt pre-outs let alone 3 sets of them even in units costing twice as much as this one.

Pros: Incredible value in so many ways.

I was really impressed at how smart this radio is. Several features like Pandora, Bluetooth connection and Iphone compatible. I originally had a stock Bose system in my 350z and the system was so sad; the stock sub was not getting any use. After installation of this unit my stock sub was punching. Now I am thinking of getting one for my other vehicle.

Pros: Great Power for stock speakers, many smart features, display has several colors to match your cars dash lights and able to run sub.

Cons: Light display sometimes can't be seen during the day. Buttons and settings take some getting use to.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, this is a great unit. One of the main reasons I got this unit is so that it can connect to both my Android phone and my ipod touch simultaneously. It does this successfully but with a caveat: it always prefers my Android phone for both phone and audio streaming, thus, every time I must disconnect the audio stream from my phone via the JVC Bluetooth menu, and then tell it to connect to my ipod touch. This is not a big ordeal as it's a memorized series of steps for me, but it would have been great if there was a way to assign audio streaming preference to a device. I tried deleting the stored pairings and then pairing my ipod touch first, but after I paired my phone, my phone still gets first preference with audio streaming. After they are both connected, it works very well--sound is excellent as well as receiving and taking calls is much easier than I once thought! It's actually quite an interesting feature how both these devices are coordinated when playing music and taking calls as the music will mute when I get a call and then unmute when the call ends. Call clarity is great too. I'm not sure if I haven't found it yet, but there is no apparent way to pause music via bluetooth from the head unit dials and remote. You can mute, easily, but if I have to pause, I have to do so from my ipod touch.

Pros: --sounds great --taking/receiving callls is easy

Cons: --A phone automatically takes the audio streaming on bluetooth first before any other audio device you have.

When my radio died on my 98 VW Beetle, I thought I was in real trouble. I checked out Crutchfield and saw the JVC on sale. I read the specs and thought "this can't be true for this price." But it was and they had an install kit for my old, old car. Two days later it arrived and I was ready to install. The instructions were very clear and easy. Everything went in until I had to slide in the finished radio with harness. I couldn't seem to get it all the way in. A quick call to Crutchfied on a Holiday weekend(yes they were there) and a little advice on how to get the wiring harness further back and it snapped right in. I turned it on and was amazed at the clear vibrant sound on my 14 year old speakers. It sounded absolutely great. I love having the Bluetooth connection and listen to Pandora all the time. I especially like the USB connector on the front for my IPod and the Mini stereo in plug which I hook up to my GPS on my Android phone for clear voice. My phone never had a very loud speaker and now with it hooked to aux in, I can switch between music and GPS easily with the little remote that comes with the unit. And I can answer phone call through the very impressive microphone that is now attached near my steering wheel.

Pros: Great sound, Bluetooth, USB, aux in. Hands free phone.

Cons: Pairing my second phone to Bluetooth became a little tricky. The first phone paired right up. But after deleting it and reinstalling it's working.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As a former Installation Tech, I always stuck with Alpine decks. I loved them, they had all the features you wanted and a clean sound. Now since those days have passed by I still love loud but clear music, but when you have a family the budget isn't always there to buy everything you want. I was going to put in a Kenwood KVT-512 flip out tv/dvd unit in my minivan that a buddy of mine gave me, but I really didn't want all that in the dash. Also I didn't want to be stuck listening to the sound of the dvd playing for everyone in the back while I drove. So I decided (with my wife's approval) to put in a head unit that would satisfy all my needs and would be budget friendly.Originaly I was looking at the Pioneer DEH-P7400HD, and compared it to the JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT. There was no comparison: I wanted a cd player, done. I wanted a usb port for Ipod/Iphone connectivity, done. The JVC has 2 usb ports, and will connect to just about ALL Ipods/Iphones. I wantd a Aux. port in the front, done. Multi-color display, done. I wanted 3 sets of RCA outputs so later on I can expand my system, done. The JVC has 3/ 4.8 volt rca's where as the pioneer was 4volt. Oh and I wanted bluetooth also, done. The JVC unit connects usually in bout 5-10 seconds, pairing was easy(just keep the manual close), and when you recieve a call the display changes color. And the JVC unit was $10.00 cheaper, another plus!!! The unit has been in for about 2 weeks and I'm very satisifed!! SOUNDS GREAT!!

Pros: All the adjustments you need, from the frequencies/levels/& q factor on all bass/mid/& treble. Each source remembers the volume you left it at, & the Sub has it's own adjustments and level. If you like listening to pandora your covered, or watching youtube videos it will play through you bluetooth connection. I found that out 2 days ago when I was listening to the radio, wanted to see a quick video and the radio automatically switched itself. Soo Cool, even watching trailers sound awesome!!!

Cons: The only small complaints I have are, that the EQ and Display buttons are tiny & a little flimsey. I'm afraid I may break them, so I rarely use them. The preset station buttons are small but you'll get used to that. And the remote is small, I think the actual size is 1"(w) X 3"(h) X 1/2" (d) or about the size of you average car alarm remote. I keep mine in my unused ash try so I won't loose it or hear that lovely "crunch" & then " oops, my badd" from my 6'2", 16yr. old son when he gets in.

For the price this unit delivers alot, it does everything I want it to. I have a 10 year old car that is in great shape but being a musician I wanted more than a CD player radio. The JVC plays purchased CD's and displays the Artist/Song data, it plays mp3 discs. It plays Pandora radio from my iPhone. I can also play my iPod through it, it will read mp3 files, play them and display the track info. Bluetooth works very well, I mounted the mic on top of my steering column and at first callers complained of echo, but by lowering the volume it has helped reduce it. Overall this unit fits all my needs. I installed it myself and Crutchfield support is excellent, I called them 3 times with questions regarding the installation. They were able to help every time. Installation is a bit tricky, so if you normally don't do this type of thing you may want to have ot professionally installed.

Pros: Great value - lots of features - easy to use - Crutchfield instructions were great - Crutchfield support is knowledgable

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This receiver is an excellent value. The quality and performance exceeded my expectations. Installation was a snap. Installed in an AP1 Honda S2000 seamlessly and with no indication that there's an aftermarket stereo. The dual zone lighting matches my interior lighting perfectly. I went with a CD player in case someone wanted to bring tunes along - but since installing the unit I've only listened to iPod, Pandora, and Bluetooth streams from my Android. Sound quality is excellent. Thus far I have used only the preset EQ's (it'll take sometime to dial in the parametric user settings to my liking). RDS works as expected on FM, CD player (tested once) works well, iPod integration works well from the unit (I don't like fiddling with the iPod itself; I have it stowed). The Bluetooth phone integration far exceeds anything I expected. I have seen just how WRONG these implementations can be, and I thought at this price point I'd get moderate performance. No so. Noise cancellation is EXCELLENT, all callers hear me clearly (unaware I'm in the car unless I am driving high RPM or the top is down), and Bluetooth NEVER loses connection. Pairing was seamless, and the unit has never failed to connect to my Android when I turn the car on. FAVE: this unit loves Android. The integration is arguably superior to the iPhone integration, because you can Bluetooth Pandora, Google Music, and nav audio without swapping out the USB with the iPod.

Pros: Bluetooth phone integration is flawless. Sound quality is excellent Bluetooth module can been installed on front face so USB device can be hidden permanently from the rear. Materials and workmanship are excellent. Very solid Giving Crutchfield a plug: these guys are awesome. Friendly, high quality service. Free shipping. Amazon, who? Buy it here, now.

Cons: The EQ presets are a little off my personal taste. "Dynamic" gives great bass, but the high end is harsh, even painful, at high volumes. "Bass Boost" gives you bass, but rolls off the high end in such a way as to sound muffled. The best setting for me, until I tweak user Pro EQ, is Dynamic, with LOUDNESS ON. This accentuates the bass a bit more at any given volume level than it does the high end. Minimizes tympanic misery at higher volumes.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my daughters factory radio in her 2004 Toyota Highlander. The documentation provided by Crutchfield was accurate. All in all this radio is on the bottom end of the price spectrum so I really shouldn't have believed all the marketing hype. First of all if you want hands free phone control be aware that you have to "navigate" to the voice command section for the phone control. Not very "Hands Free". I'm not sure if I can install a better mic or if this is the only one I can use but there is a lot of background noise on the receivers end. In the car is pretty clear. I was very disappointed that while streaming Pandora from an android phone the display just shows "No Title" After calling tech support they informed me that this was how it was with an Android but the iPhone would display that information. Also while searching the memory stick for songs you only have the option of searching by folder and song name. No ability to search by genre or artist or playlist. Lastly the display is very poorly lit. If it is sunny out you can hardly see the display regardless of which of the 36 colors you choose.

    Pros: Easy Install

Cons: Poorly lit display. Inadequate search capabilities Phone isn't really hands free until you navigate to the hands free section Worst of all terrible Pandora integration for Androids. It streams the music but that's it. No Like or dislike. Very deceptive in the marketing docs.

I just installed this, this past weekend. Big Ups to Cruthcfield, you guys are amazing when it comes to providing all the needed tools. I didn't need to use the Tech support phone line. Thanks to JVC, I can now listen to my full library stored on my iPod. Yea its great to have the CD player still, but I probably won't be using it that much. The sound coming from this unit is an incredible difference in my 2005 Civic. It's completely night and day in the sound quality compared to my factory unit. JVC did great with the design of this also, the bluetooth feature is impressive, with a practically placed button on the receiver itself to answer incoming calls. I'm still playing around with this, but I havent discovered a way to end the call yet without having to either wait for the other person to hang up, or end the call from my phone. That is definitely NOT a deal breaker, just a small suggestion for JVC. The most impressive feature(s) I'd like to point out is the vast range of customizable options this offers; from display color, the Pro EQ features, to being able to control your iPod through the receiver only or from the iPod itself. JVC made this pretty user friendly. If you somehow lose the manual that comes with it, the layount and menu options make it all self explanatory. Overall this is a great buy for the price, you get awesome quality in something that can replace just a factory receiver, or if you plan on upgrading your car audio system completely.

Pros: Customizable Options, Bluetooth Feature, Pro EQ

Cons: None that I have discovered.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We installed the JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT in a 2006 Ford Focus and in a 2003 Toyota Camry. The supplied installation kit was of high quality, but slightly difficult to interpret the instructions to. Of note, both of our kits required screws that were not included in the package (the head unit uses M5 3/8" flat top screws that we purchased at Home Depot). Crutchfield tech support was outstanding when we got stuck. Now onto the unit... The unit itself is high-quality, bright, and easy to read. However, it is not easy to use -- the track forward/back buttons are small and unwieldy, in particular, but the rest of it is good. The sound quality difference even with stock speakers is night and day. The Bluetooth worked great out of the box -- we elected to plug ours into the front face and instead use the rear USB to plug in the iPhone/iPod cable and route it into the pocket below so no cords show. The USB dongle is pretty small, but the "door" covering the front USB port doesn't close when it's plugged in. That said, it's the neater of the two options if you want a clean installation look. With the included microphone installed on the dash, hands-free calling was quick, high quality, and seamless. Streaming Pandora worked great, with thumbs up / thumbs down buttons working seamlessly (the up/down arrows adjacent to the track change buttons).

Pros: Built-in Bluetooth with included adapter (as opposed to many units which are just "Bluetooth available" with separate purchase of adapter), well-integrated with Pandora, high-quality sound production even with stock speakers, MP3 player, charges iPhone/iPod while in-use, included microphone, Aux out.

Cons: Small track-change buttons, would have preferred to have two USBs in the back to hide the Bluetooth adapter (but maintain the ability to plug the iPhone cable in through the back and route it through the pocket so no cables are showing), no included iPhone/iPod cable (must use your own or purchase separately), somewhat difficult to find specific songs via the head unit with iPhone/iPod plugged in (unless you had numerous, well-organized playlists).

I bought Sony BT2900 car receiver first. I had to return it due to poor bluetooth call quality. The unit was good for everything else including bluetooth streaming though. I returned Sony and ordered JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT in exchange over a phone. Thanks to the guy on customer service. The return process was hassel free and without a question they gave me full refund. I paid 30 dollars more for this unit and so far it's well worth the extra money I paid. This unit comes with external mic and that's the major plus compare to built in mic receivers. You can actually position the mic as you want for better call quality. Now I am enjoying long conversations while driving because of excellent call quality of JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT. Another beauty of this unit is built in pandora radio support. Once your android phone is connected with the unit via bluetooth, it opens up pandora on your phone and plays songs without you doing anything. Sound quality is excellent. It might take a while to learn all the features and sometime you might need to connect your phone manually if it doesn't do it automatically but I think that happens with almost all the units. For the money you are paying, you are getting a solid car receiver...

Pros: Bluetooth call quality is almost perfect. Built-in Pandora radio support is convenient. Excellent sound quality.

Cons: Sometimes you have to connect your phone using bluetooth manually. Pandora radio sometimes doesn't start automatically, you have to do it manually using your phone then.

    Excellent "Budget" Reciever

Parks Hoyle from Cocoa, FL on 3/15/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I must say, I am duly impressed with this head unit. I was looking for a replacement for the existing factory CD player in our 2000 Ford Focus wagon, and kept coming back to the JVC for a number of reasons. Primary to my decision was the inclusion of Bluettoth and the Pandora functionality, while keeping withn a budget of less than $150. The KD-A735BT not only has the "Wow" factor down pat on the technology side, but it also has the sonic qualities of a higher end unit. Bluetooth works perfectly with my LG Optimus V, and Pandora streams without a hitch. Even the JVC app for Droid has worked flawlessly. The FM tuner pulls in more stations than I even knew were available in my area! Setup with the included dash kit was fairly painless, and other than switching the illumination wires in the supplied harness adapter, everything was spot on. The only ding with this unit is that some of the functions/menus can be a little cumbersome to get to, but for the most part, the interface is rather intuitive. Once you have gone through the menus & submenus once, you should have no problem. The only other thing I can see that might have been executed better would have been for the bluetooth module to be built into the unit, rather than occupy one of the two available USB connections. However, because of the added slot beneath the radio in the dash kit, I now have a place for my phone, Ipod and mic that I did not have before. In all, a very nice head unit that is most definitely not "budget".

Pros: Price, Sound, Strong FM receiver, Bluetooth functionality, high voltage pre-outs for further expansion down the road, variable colors to match interior

Cons: Bluetooth module takes up one of the existing USB ports, leaving Ipod connection either at the front or the Bluetooth module sticking out of face of unit (does not sit flush in the front so the small cover will not close over it). Oh, and display can wash out in direct sunlight, but can be compensated with (somewhat) by adjusting brighness and color of the display.

All around great unit. Works as advertised and is a snap to set up. The Bluetooth work fantastically with my Samsung Galaxy S including the Pandora functionality. My one detraction is the user interface. Its a little convoluted. I think the only way to make the UI better would be with a bigger screen, but that would have meant more $$$. I'm sure I'll get used to it hence the 4 stars.

Cons: Tiny remote / position of the volume buttons.

I am very satisfied with this component. The controlls work well and the sound is better than the factory installed component. I have my ipod sitting in my glove box and can controll it using the front of the receiver. (Havent figured out how play songs through the receiver by directly using the ipod controls but I'm fairly sure that is my deficiency, not the unit). Most importantly, if you are planning to install this yourself, buy from Cruchfield. The installation instructions are great!!

Does exactly what I wanted. Couldn't be happier

We have a 2011 VW Golf with Bluetooth capability from the factory. In that car, you sinc your phone and then you can stream whatever audio you want to it. We both have iPhones and prefer to use the phone for controls, not the deck. We are able to switch users while both being in the car at the same time. I was looking to upgrade the deck in my 2001 truck. I already have a Sony with an aux input on the front of the deck, but the cord always gets wound around everything. I wanted something like the VW. After a decent amount of research, the JVC unit was the only unit for the price range that would function like the VW stock deck. After you sinc your phone (up to 5 I think), it'll play whatever you send it. iPod or Pandora, it works great. The added bonus is the hands free calling, which actually work pretty well. There is a little tunnel affect with the hands free, but I've noticed that with every setup I've heard or used. The deck has a USB input in the front and a USB input in the back. That is useful for charging phones in addition to plugging in your phone and using the deck for iPod functionality and Pandora functionality. I like to keep things simple and this deck does exactly that. I would highly recommend this product. Crutchfied made the purchasing experience fantastic by including the kit, harness, shipping and instructions free of charge. I couldn't be happier.

Pros: Bluetooth streaming audio, hands free calling, Front USB Port

    Cons: Nothing yet

Yo yo yo check it out. I put this deck in my pimped-out 2006 Toyota Tundra and it is pimp, you know what I'm saying? The Bluetooth was very easy to pair with my Droid X2 phone so I can talk to all my ladies hands free. I can also pair a 2nd phone in case I have one of my ladies in the car with me, you know what I'm saying? The radio tunes in well and the USB is great when I'm busting out my own fat rhymes. You know what I'm saying? As far as operating the unit I recommend getting it all set up with the manual in hand and then leave it alone. Then it won't seem so complicated, you know what I'm saying? I highly recommend this radio if you wish to be a pimped out mack daddy like myself you know what I'm saying?.

Pros: Easy Bluetooth with good call quality

    Cons: None

    Pretty good

Comparing this to a sony i had bought in 2004 that was starting to act up. This thing has features galore. love the bluetooth and usb that my other one didnt have. Display is kinda small and hard to read in direct sunlight but still readable. would love it if it had a positive display( black text on colored field) which my sony had. mp3 on cd takes a bit to read and play but usb moves pretty fast. RDS radio is a plus. Tuner pulls in stations well

Pros: Bluetooth audio streaming, usb , strong tuner, low price, glad to see radio station buttons back for 2012, finally a unit that works with android!

Cons: due to all the features the menu is somewhat clumsy and complicated, mp3 cd takes longer to load than my 2004 sony, display kinda weak( lets see a positive lcd option)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would have given this unit 5 stars all the way accross, but it isn't that the unit is really not easy to use. It's just that there are so many steps to go through to get to where you need to make your adjustments. But, then again that could be because of all the features this unit packs into one small space. I couldn't be more happy with the display and performance of this product

Pros: Great sound, many great features, once you have come to the feature you want to change, the change is easy and stays.

Cons: I wish the front face was a little larger with bigger push button controls. However, this is not a deal breaker.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this radio to replace my factory radio, and I have been 100% satisfied with everything about it. The only buttons on the radio that I think are a little hard to use are the forward and back buttons between tracks on a CD. I started using the remote and that made it a lot easier. The Bluetooth works great with no problems at all. I love the different color selections where I can match my interior color. I highly recommend this radio.

Pros: Price, easy to install, great installation intructions, looks of the radio, colors, and the different options.

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It has enough power to rock out a 6-speaker system. More options than most people will use. Love the color options. (Daytime and Night-time.) It can be tailored to match your dash exactly. Lots of add-on options, XM, HD-radio, AND an additional RCA or mini-phono, in addition to the 2-usb inputs (front and rear). I plugged the Bluetooth module in the face, then my I-pod in the rear usb port, leaving the I-pod with at least 3 feet of cable in the glove-compartment. You can still plug a flash drive in the face and supposedly displays all data. Love this single-din unit!

    Pros: See review above!

Cons: I would prefer a "bar-type" equalizer rather than picking a frequency and "+/-" 1-6. Its hard for me to "picture" where 400Hz or 1kHz is (for example) in the spectrum. It doesn't have RCA aux in, but can be added for less than $10, so really minor, picky complaints.

    Great Stereo

Greg R. from Espanola, NM on 2/6/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really have enjoyed the stereo so far. The sound quality is great! The look of the stereo in my car is awesome! The one thing I wish could be different is the display for the Sirius satellite, you can only either show the artist, song title, station title, etc. there isn't a setting that I have found that will show both artist and song title at the same time... The way you move thru menus and settings is pretty straight forward but I think they could have made it a little easier to use. Those two reasons are the two reasons why I gave ease of use 4 stars instead of 5.

USB Bluetooth Adapter: The JVC KD-A735BT comes supplied with a USB Bluetooth Adapter (KS-UBT1) which is pre-installed into the head unit's rear-panel USB input, making the KD-A735BT Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR certified. The KD-A735BT supports Bluetooth hands-free communication and wireless audio streaming. The USB Bluetooth Adapter (KS-UBT1) must remain plugged into the rear-panel USB port, or can also be installed in the head unit's front-panel USB port.

Bluetooth Technology: Bluetooth is a two-way wireless communication system allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, as well as wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth enabled portable music player using the JVC in-dash CD receiver. Bluetooth wireless technology operates on a 2.4GHZ frequency band within a range of approximately 10 meters (about 33 feet).

Bluetooth Profiles: The JVC KD-A735BT supports the following Bluetooth profiles:

    • HFP 1.5 (Hands-Free Profile): Hands-free communication with your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone in the vehicle (incoming/outgoing calls supported).
    • OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile): Phonebook transfer from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone to the head unit.
    • PBAP 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile): Phonebook access from your Bluetooth enabled cell-phone to the head unit.
    • A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Music streaming from your Bluetooth enabled phone or audio player to the head unit.
    • AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile): Basic music playback control of your Bluetooth enabled phone or audio player from the head unit.

Pairing: Your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone or digital audio player must be paired with KD-A735BT before hands-free & wireless operation. You can register up to five Bluetooth enabled devices with the JVC head unit. You can keep two phones connected at all times (only one can be used during a call).

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC head unit. See JVC's Bluetooth compatibility chart for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled devices.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication: The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The controls of the KD-A735BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (with mounting bracket) featuring adjustable gain, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers.

External Microphone: The JVC KD-A735BT includes an external microphone to carry on your side of your phone conversation and voice command dialing. The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the level of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 12' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.485" (depth). This unit does not offer an integrated front-panel microphone.

Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker, the head unit's display will flash (Ring Color), and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the KD-A735BT's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call. You can adjust the head unit's ring color from the unit's 29 preset colors or 30,000 custom colors.

Dialing A Number: Using the KD-A735BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Entering a Phone Number: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's front-panel rotary dial.
    • Speed Dialing: You can store up to 6 contacts in the memory of this unit for speed dialing.
    • Phone Book: You can dial by using the downloaded phone book. You can download phone book data from your cell phone to the KD-A735BT. If you phonebook contains a lot of contact numbers, you fast search (+/-10, 100, or 1000) through the phonebook by using the unit's control dial. You can also do an A-Z search to scroll the downloaded phonebook. Up to 5,000 numbers can be stored for each registered cell phone. Each number can be up to 32 digits long.
    • Call Log: The Call Log is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls (up to 50 each).
    • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone.

Private/Hands-Free Mode: During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The JVC KD-A735BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The KD-A735BT will be able to control basic playback functions of your Bluetooth device's stored music; such as Play/Pause, Skip Next/Previous, and Fast Forward/Rewind. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Song and Album title. The KD-A735BT also supports audio streaming of music apps (such as iHeartRadio, SiriusXM,, Rhapsody, & Slacker) , but without control or metadata. You will continue to use your Bluetooth enabled smartphone to view and control streaming music apps. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

In addition, you can also give songs a thumbs up/down and bookmark songs/artists.

The USB ports enable audio playback and control of MP3, WMA, & WAV audio files stored on portable USB mass-storage class devices. Both of the USB terminals can be connected to USB devices at the same time. USB portable audio players that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the CD receiver's USB port (5V/1A), and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On. You cannot connect a USB device via a USB hub or Multi-Card Reader to this unit.

Note: The rear-panel USB port comes with the KS-UBT1 Bluetooth adapter installed. The this Bluetooth adapter must remain installed for Bluetooth functionality. It can be removed to allow connection of a second USB (MSC) device.

E-mails with map data can also be sent quickly and easily from your iPhone, letting others know where you are or where you want to meet.  You can start and stop when Auto Driver Router records your routes using the in-dash CD receiver's controls. You can also send an email template to your predetermined contacts directly from the receiver's controls. You can do all this while still listening to stored music or streamed music from your iPhone on the JVC KD-A735BT.

It is also possible to zoom in and out of maps on your iPhone, as well as see the speed and altitude of routes in a graph format on the iPhone's touchscreen. By connecting an iPhone with this app installed to the KD-735BT, you can record routes via the control knobs and buttons of the in-dash head unit.
    • Here I AM: When you select the "Here I Am" function on the Auto Drive Router app, a flag showing "Here I Am?" will appear on the on-screen Google Map of your iPhone to indicate your current location. And by using a default template, an e-mail will also be created instantaneously for delivery of the map to multiple recipients. The flag can also be placed in different locations on the on-screen map of the iPhone with the "Here I Am" function being used to e-mail changes in meeting spots. When your iPhone is connected to the JVC CD receiver, your email templates can be selected and sent directly from the head unit.
Note: The JVC head unit must be set to External/App mode. All visual navigation will be displayed on your connected iPhone (not the JVC head unit). You can only control a specific number of functions from the JVC head unit. Not compatible with iPad or other iPod models.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior CD sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The KD-A735BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the KD-A735BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the KD-A735BT are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-A735BT with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Pro EQ: The KD-A735BT is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Flat, Natural, Dynamic, Vocal Boost, Bass Boost, User) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Pro EQ
    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25
    Treble 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 17.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) Fixed

Source Link EQ: This feature allows you to store Pro EQ bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (CD, AM/FM, Aux, USB, iPod, Bluetooth, and Pandora).

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can turn this feature on or off.

4.8V/6CH Preamp Output: The KD-A735BT is equipped with three pair of 4.8V preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front & rear preamp outputs offer balance/fade control and are designed to hookup to a full-range 4-channel amplifier. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading and designed to hookup to a mono-block subwoofer amplifier.

High-Pass Crossover: The KD-A735BT features a High-Pass Crossover for the front & rear speaker-outputs or preamp-outputs. You can adjust the high-pass crossover from 100 Hz, 120 Hz, 150 Hz, or Off. The 'Off' selection is a full-range setting.

Subwoofer Controls: The JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT offers the following subwoofer controls, when you have the unit's subwoofer preamp output activated.

    • Low Pass Crossover: The receiver features a built-in Low Pass Crossover for subwoofer preamp output. You can select from 55 Hz, 85 Hz, 120 Hz, or off.
    • Subwoofer Level: Once the Subwoofer preamp output is activated, you can independently control the subwoofer preamp output level (0-8) from the CD receiver.

Key-Touch Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Display Features

Detachable Face: The JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT features a detachable face to deter theft. A hard-plastic face-case is provided. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can also be purchased for this unit.

Variable Color LCD & Key Illumination: The JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT features 29 color presets for the LCD and button illumination. You can choose one of these color presets or select the ColorFlow mode which scrolls through all 29 color presets. Additionally, there is a User preset, allowing you to individually adjust the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue from 0 to 31; resulting in approximately 30,000 custom color options. The chosen color preset or custom color can be applied to the display panel and the backlighting for all the buttons except the eject button (it remains red). You can choose to use the same color for the LCD display and button illumination, or use a separate color for each one. You can also select a different color for daytime and nighttime in regards to the unit's LCD and button illumination.

Brightness: The unit offers an adjustable display and button illumination brightness level (0-31) for day and nighttime driving.

Display/Button Illumination Dimmer: The display/button illumination dimmer can be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display/button illumination is always dimmed), or Auto (display dims when 12-volts is applied to the orange/white illumination lead).
