All the best in digital music

Tired off digging around in your car to find the scratchy old CD you dropped between the seats? Ditch the discs and go digital with JVC's KD-X310BT. This digital media receiver handles all your music devices, plus it gives you a lot more power than your factory radio. Built-in Bluetooth® lets you enjoy hands-free calling and wireless streaming audio.

Ready for your Android™ phone

Android™ users can control Pandora® right from the stereo through the Bluetooth connection — no wires needed. JVC's Smart Music Control app lets you use your compatible Android phone's touchscreen to control the action using finger swipes and gestures — for example, make an upside-down "V" to change the source. With your Android phone safely attached to a mount, you can reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road.

The KD-X310BT plays MP3, WMA, WAV, and even FLAC files. Putting together a custom road mix on a thumb drive for a long trip? You can use JVC's Playlist Creator software on your Windows® PC to organize your music, so you can find the song you want in a flash with the JVC's controls.

This digital media receiver will not play CDs. If you want to play CDs in your vehicle, we offer a wide selection of CD receivers.

Siri® Eyes Free technology

If you're an iPhone user, this receiver gives you more than wireless control -- you get voice control. Talk to Siri to make calls, choose music, get directions, and more. Anything you can do with Siri can be done with this receiver.

The KD-X310BT is all about app control, too. Pandora® or iHeartRadio users can connect to the receiver and access basic controls like "play," "pause," "thumbs-up," and "thumbs-down" on the screen display. For added convenience, the 2-way control feature lets you pick music using the receiver's controls, or you can use the phone itself.

JVC KD-X310BT Digital Media Receiver

The simple control panel gives you access to a wide range of entertainment options.

Do more with your USB connection

The powerful 1A USB port lets you keep your smartphone charged while it's performing many battery-draining tasks at once. And with your smartphone connected, you can listen to your phone's internal memory as one source and access the little microSD card as another. You can even pair two phones at once, so you'll never have to decide between the personal phone and the work phone again. The Drive Change feature allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the JVC's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives.

Expand your system

The KD-X310BT offers the connections you'll need if you're planning to build a complete car audio system sometime in the future. When it's time to add a powered sub, you can switch the rear preamp outputs over to subwoofer mode to control your bass from the receiver. A front aux input lets you hook up other gear, like a Dock & Play satellite radio.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

I got sick of wiring my iPhone to my stereo so I picked up this Bluetooth enabled head unit. It's awesome. It came with everything I needed. I will buy from Crutchfield again, for sure.

Pros: Bluetooth, design, EZ install, no stupid wires

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My son and I installed this one afternoon in less than an hour. It only took that long because I was trying to teach him along the way. All that to say Crutchfield makes it Super easy to install your own stereo in whatever car you have. I honestly did not think it would be as easy as it was.

Pros: Bluetooth and hands -free phone use are a big bonus. The ability to set Pro EQ is nice as well

Cons: Display can be hard to read during sunlight, even at the brightest setting.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This head unit packs a ton of tech and sound in a small footprint. The Bluetooth and Pandora were great additions to my wife's 03 Mercedes C240. The stock deck had AM/FM and cassette and now she can stream her iTunes music via BT or USB, charge her iPhone or listen to Pandora with much greater fidelity. I did miss a step during the install that required the connection of the Mercedes antenna amp to the JVC power antenna lead. That killed the AM/FM reception until I called Crutchfield and got it straightened out. I had to pull out the JVC and connect the harness wire correctly and now the radio reception is perfect. Moral of that story: Follow the helpful instructions that Crutchfield provides regardless of what you think you know.

Pros: Good power. Bright blue display, Apps, EQ Mode, Ease of Install

Cons: A bit too menu button centric.

Great sound for a good price

    2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great media player. I bought it to replace the aging OEM stereo on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt, and to add bluetooth capabilities. Install was pretty simple (maybe 15 minutes total, not including the 10-15 minutes of wiring done at the kitchen table). Sound quality is great, and the sound through bluetooth is great too. The favorite stations on the radio took a while to get used to (you can push 1 through 6 on the face, but to get to 7-18 you have to go to menu, then scroll to the right favorite), and it seems to take longer than I would expect to connect to my phone via bluetooth, but for the price, it was a great buy. I'd highly recommend it.

Pros: Easy install, small size, great sound

Cons: Not super user friendly, and bluetooth seems to take a while to connect to my phone.

Pros: Great price Bluetooth Easy to use

Cons: App causes some annoyance Doesn't handle 6 speakers

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have two of these units. One is installed in my 96 Bronco and the other is installed in my 2015 Frieghtliner. If you stream audio from Pandora, iHeart, Spotify, ect then you'll enjoy the wireless ability to connect your phone or tablet to this JVC unit. It's best to only use one paired device. My tablet is paired to my Frieghtliner JVC unit and my Android phone is paired to my Bronco's unit. The JVC unit comes with a microphone to take/make calls, but I've been told it isn't very clear and has that "bottom of a well" sound for the other person. When backed up with good speakers (I use Infinity Reference Series speakers) this unit kicks out great crisp highs and deep booming lows. For the money, it's a good buy.

Pros: Ease of use Great sound- even without an amp The Pro EQ is very adjustable Buttons and screen brightness can be individually adjusted Price point

Cons: Calls sound hollow and distant for your caller Cannot adjust color of buttons

Nice receiver. I replaced the stock unit in my 03 Wrangler. JVC is much louder than stock stereo, so I'm debating whether or not to even get an amplifier. Easy installation with Crutchfield installation kit.

Pros: Easy fit / install. Sounds good.

Cons: USB on front panel. Not a big deal, but a USB cable off the back would have been nice too. Controls for multiple FM (1 2 & 3) presets are confusing

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was a breeze (with the help of YouTube!). Upgraded the factory radio in a 98' Buick LeSabre. I LOVE this JVC radio! The deciding factor for me was the EQ control. There's "easy" and "pro" settings for ALL your tweaking needs. There's also enough output power to make my Kicker 5-1/4's and 6x9's THUMP and ROCK!! I do NOT need subwoofers now...but it sounds like I have them in the trunk! I'd put this radio in any vehicle! Outstanding value and sound.

Pros: EQ settings really let you dial in YOUR mix. Bluetooth allows you to hear callers through the speakers while you drive!

    Cons: None that I've found!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace a factory am/fm/CD receiver. The unit was easy to install and worked immediately. Bluetooth pairing was straight forward. Setting up pandora from my iPhone was simple, but I have yet to successfully set up Iheart radio. The sound quality from both Bluetooth and USB is very good. I am not a huge fan of the styling, display, or buttons but for a unit in this price range it's pretty much on par with other brands.

    Pros: Great value easy setup

Cons: The supplied Microphone did not work out of the box but Crutchfield is mailing me a new one.

    2002 Toyota Corolla
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The receiver is working wonderfully and has a nice clear sound. I love the pause feature, being able to make and accept calls through it and Pandora especially. It is very easy to use. I haven't used the usb feature yet but if it works as well as the rest, then I am sure I will love it too. The display is a bright blue but I adjusted to it after a few nights and don't notice it anymore. The holder that came with it does not actually fit in my dash despite being advertised that it would. I drive an '02 Toyota Corolla CE, perhaps it fits the dash in the LE. No biggie, we just used the holder from the old player. The wiring harness doesn't come with butt connectors---maybe not a big deal but it would have been nice if they were included.

Pros: Clear sound, intuitive features, easy to push buttons

Cons: Items that come with do not necessarily fit

    Simple and powerful

    SHNOOL from Pennsylvania on 1/4/2015

This is a very basic media receiver with bluetooth. The single wiring harness is very easy to crimp or solder to, and the profile of the unit is quite small, probably half the depth of a CD/DVD drive model. This means it's ideal for a tight installation. Unit is very nicely laid out, and the remote is simple, and easy to use.

Pros: Easy install, small unit... Comes with lots of extra wire for the included microphone for bluetooth. JVC unit has plenty of power, and volume increases smoothly without jumping in volume levels. Sound quality is good. This is a great lower priced full featured stereo.

Cons: The plate/frame to slide the unit into should be slightly heavier to provide a slightly sturdier mount for the radio... I installed this into a 1" thick teak bulkhead in my boat, and the frame rocks a bit more than I'd like... but I may shim it to tighten it up... NOT a deal breaker, the slide is no worse than any other radio I've used.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this for my 2000 Jetta Vr6 to replace it with the old monsoon radio, don't get me wrong the old one still sounded nice but the radio was coming in all fuzzy sometimes. I replaced the antenna and cables and still the same, so I decided to get a new radio. I came across this one because of the Bluetooth system and thought it was interesting. Overall the sound quality is much better than the old one but the only downside is the Bluetooth sounds like your at the other end of a room if your on the other end.

Pros: Quality is great, access is simple and fast to use, installation was a breeze.

Cons: Bluetooth works good but not that loud while listening on the other end.

    Terrible Experience

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything about this experience was terrible. I talked to a customer rep who made me believe I could do this myself, lie. He said that Crutchfield would walk me through the instillation, lie. I received no directions in the box when I asked if I would receive anything. I do not like the stereo I was suggested and I trusted Crutchfield wouldn't steer me wrongly. I don't like the stereo, its a pain especially with bluetooth. I have lots of questions and not a lot of answers. Avoid this place like the plague. Ohh, in the end I ended up taking the stereo to a local place who charged me an arm and a leg so I got someone else to charge me to install this stereo. What a terrible experience with Crutchfield!

Crutchfield response on 1/6/2015 We should've emailed the installation instructions to you again when you first contacted our Tech Support team. As for the stereo, yes, some are more difficult to use than others, and that's a very personal thing. You might find that a different brand is easier for you to use than the JVC. It's a very popular stereo (we sell a lot of them and actually have them returned less often than most other stereo models), but if you weren't happy with it, then returning it to us was the right thing to do. We hope any future experiences with Crutchfield will go better.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the stock stereo w/cassette player in my 2000 Ford Escort but left the stock speakers. The improvement is remarkable. The mids and highs are a lot clearer. The bass is still a bit muddy but I'm sure a swap of speakers will cure that. I still haven't tried all of the options yet but the ones I've used have been good. The blue tooth feature is nice. I love adding the ability to answer the phone while driving. The preset equalizer settings have been pretty good given the speakers I have. The clock has been the only down side. I can't get it to stay on time. No matter how many times I try to set it, it defaults back to 10:00am witihin minutes. I imagine I'm doing something wrong but I haven't had time to deal with it. It's a minor annoyance so I don't know that I will ever fix it.

I love using the Bluetooth option with Pandora because i dont need an aux cord or anything. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install and setup was very easy. I don't use CD's anymore, so a digital media receiver made the most sense. The bluetooth and included external mic work great. The menus could be a bit simpler, but most tech savvy types will be fine. The sound quality over the VW factory unit is way better, especially at high volume. All in all- this is a great receiver for the price.

Pros: Price, ease of install, quick setup, strong sound quality, great bluetooth streaming and phone functions.

Cons: The menus should/could be simpler, does not have a great range of dimming and brightness at night.

I've only had it a few days but I'm extremely impressed! For the price this is a huge improvement over my factory unit in my 2004 Volvo S60. It's a real convenience to use bluetooth for any calls and also not to have to swipe open my phone to change songs. Extremely satisfied.

Pros: Easy setup, just connecting red to red, blue to blue, etc. I did it myself in about 30 minutes. Seems to be really good value compared to others in similar price range. The sound is great, starts up fast enough, plenty of customization. Great device

Cons: The blue is pretty bright. Some people like that though. Menu navigation is a little weird as well.

This unit works great, sound great, and gets the job done.

Pros: Sounds Great, looks good, and has good features if you want to use your radio with your phone (i use it with and iPhone 5s)

Cons: The main control nob is positioned in just the right place that when turning it your hand blocks the display and you can't see what you are doing. Also the display is hard to read in bright sun light. Based on these two items I would not recommend this radio.

Now I have hands free calling and all the great features from bluetooth. Hooked up my Android phone, no problem. I now can enjoy wireless bluetooth to listen to Pandora and Iheartradio, no wires protruding from my dash. The installation went very smooth, the phone calls are crystal clear. Pleasure to deal with Crutchfield, they sent me everything I needed. Highly recommend!

This turned out to be a great unit, I wanted a Kenwood but could not find a unit that meet my specific needs. Crutchfield rep recommended this unit but I had never owned JVC products before. I went ahead and ordered it and I am glad I did, this unit works great. It's a little difficult to navigate at first but once you get used to it it's no big deal. The Bluetooth works amazing and my iPhone pairs up with the unit automatically as soon as I get in the vehicle. IPod function works great also and can be controlled from the head unit. I am very impressed with the Bluetooth clarity when connected to phone calls and works great with Siri too! I would highly recommend this unit!!!

Great digital receiver, easy to use, and cheap bluetooth. I have no CDs anymore so this is perfect. It has only one annoying flaw; it doesn't initiate the BT connection until you select BT audio. This means waiting 30-60 seconds for it to pair up again every time you change inputs or turn on the stereo.

Pros: Easy to use, dims with the rest of the console, good amplification and sound

Cons: Doesn't maintain the Bluetooth pairing unless you've selected BT Audio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Radio, Bluetooth, and USB all work well. The USB reads the flash drive much quicker than my last receiver. Scrolling and searching for songs is not as easy as I'd like and the tool to create a database on the drive is limited but the overall USB functionality is good. Bluetooth also works very well. The iHeartAuto app I downloaded on my phone doesn't see the receiver but the regular iHeartRadio app and TuneIn work fine. JVC has other smartphone apps but I haven't spent too much time learning about them.

Pros: The controls are easy to use.

Cons: The display limits USB searching and scrolling.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this because I wanted a CD Free receiver in my Sprinter van. I am running this with 2 6x9's in a box and a single 10" sub on a 4x100 w amp with the head unit powering a 2 way 4" dash speaker with separate tweeters. This combo is very good and makes a lot of sense for my van from an install perspective. Head unit takes a little getting used to, but has solid preset EQ options and the ability to make adjustments to varying sound ranges. I've been able to dial in my system. Pandora controls are meh. As expected, dumbing down the interactive nature to an LCD and 2 buttons is frustrating. If you are playing from pandora it automatically forces you to use the headunit which makes driving and trying to find a relax or station more dangerous than just using your phone. Demo mode is annoying, but easy to turn off.

Pros: -Good power for my use. -Has features I like, but many I won't use. -Good sound quality. -Easy to install -Lots of options in the head unit like bass boosting and rear channel crossover for sub (I'm using bass blockers on the front mids and the amp crossover for the back) -Decent Value

Cons: -Pandora control is not a plus -Looks and feels cheap -LCD could be brighter for sure -Sound quality much improved over stock, but I think it's a little gainy even on low gain mode from built in amp.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently bought this for my 99 Miata and absolutely love this unit already. I bought it to replace the factory head unit because I was sick of using an FM modulator with my devices. The Bluetooth connects fast and works like a champ whether connecting with my ipod or cell phone. Coupled with a new set of Blaupunkt 5x7's in the doors, the sound quality has obviously undergone a drastic improvement. As usual, my order was processed and shipped incredibly fast and I recieved everything as advertised. With the addition of the harness adapters and mastersheet, installation was incredibly easy and I was able to install both the deck and speakers in less than an hour. **Note to fellow Miata owners, If you have a 99-05 Miata, you will only need the wiring harness to complete the installation. The DIN sleeve fits securely in the stock position without using the supplied Metra install kit.

Pros: Great Price, cool looking deck, great functionality and sound quality, ease of installation. A few people mentioned that it doesnt tell time.. This is incorrect. The clock works all the time, you just need to configure the display to show it.

Cons: Not really a big deal, but there isn't a storage case supplied for the detachable face. Not really a con, but the operating instructions provided with the stereo are a bit vague in a few areas such as tuner operation.

I bought this stereo as a gift for my daughter, and I installed it in her 1996 VW Jetta. I have bought from Crutchfield before and they are the best. I really like their model-specific step-by-step instructions for different cars, there was no guesswork whatsoever and installing it was easy! The installation looked clean and professional. As for the JVC KD-X310BT, wow. Great stereo. My daughter's car has component speakers that really came to life, the clarity from this unit is unbelievable. I've owned cars with stock radios and cars with a fully amplified system with subwoofer, etc... - and you would never know this unit was not being run through an amplifier, the clarity is great - even at higher volumes. It's a nice-looking stereo with great features. The Bluetooth paired immediately and seems to have a strong connection, if there is such a thing. Audio played from your phone via Bluetooth is so clean you would think the phone was directly connected via USB. The display is clean and easy to read with enough characters to display most song titles in their entirety. The phone works great and their audio controls for the phone are effective - once it's dialed in the clarity is very good and the echo-canceling feature really does work well. It's amazing that you can get a stereo of this quality, with this many features at such a good price.

Pros: No more CD's. Every feature works well. The sound quality is great. The "coolness factor" really is 5 stars in my opinion.

Cons: If there is a con, it's just the learning curve of using the menu - just like every other stereo out there. I sat in the car with the manual in my lap and had everything pretty much figured out in 20-30 minutes. But once it is dialed in the way you want it I doubt you will need to go into the menus very much.

I usually don't review things , but this experience was worth taking the time for the review. Thanks Crutchfield, wont hesitate to order from you again. Will definitely pass this on to friends.

I spent several months looking for a unit to replace my defunct stock HU and FM transmitter. I have a 2004 Ford Taurus SES with minimal space in the dash and the unfortunate combination of a/c controls with it. I've replaced HUs before but none that required so much interior disassembly as Ford was nice enough to put the amplifier in the trunk *sigh*.... Overall the unit fits my needs and is easy to control.

Pros: Separate dimmer control for buttons/display with auto day/night switching Controls my iPhone music apps Pandora interoperability is awesome Charges a connected USB device fairly quickly Powers on/off quickly Smaller form factor for tight spaces Prestripped wiring harness connections Buttons and volume dial are easy to operate while keeping your eyes on the road

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this receiver into a 2003 Blazer about a week ago and I'm extremely happy with it. Installation was a breeze. The wiring diagram and adapters that were supplied were a breeze to follow. Just match up the wires by color and connect. I chose to solder the wires together but it would work just as well with the crimp connectors. The radio sleeve fit right into the single-din kit an felt very solid once I bent the tabs on the sleeve to hold it in. No mods were required to the truck at all, just bolted right up. The receiver is light and only about 4" deep. I did place a small spacer between the bottom of the radio and the pocket on the single din kit which made it sit very level once installed. Plugged the adapter into the radio and connected to the stock wiring harness. All functioned perfectly including the auto-dimmer when the lights are turned on. I did go with an aftermarket mic for the Bluetooth phone (olympus ME-52W), because I had read reviews that the stock mic was crappy. Hands-free phone sound quality is good and voice dialing works very well. I downloaded the JVC app for my Android and it works like a champ. Once I paired it up it autoconnects every time I get in the car now. Playback of music files from the phone via Bluetooth sounds great. It is pretty cool how you can control the receiver with the phone as well. Have not tried the USB input but it is a cool option to stick a thumb flashdrive in there to play MP3s. Very Happy!

Pros: Installation instructions very clear. Wiring kit very easy to follow as all wire colors matched for both harnesses Sound quality is great. Tons of features for the price. JVC Android App Hands-free Bluetooth!

Cons: Buttons and volume knob do feel a bit cheap. Setup could be a bit complicated for some (not really an issue for me)

It's easy to install just about anything when you order through Crutchfield, on the account that they send you helpful wiring harnesses and dash mounts specific to your vehicle. The KD-X310BT is perfect for people(like me) that don't use old school CD's anymore and are over having to use a 3.5mm cord(although there is a jack if you need to use one) to your mp3 player. Now, you can just stream it through your trusty smartphone via bluetooth. It has good power, a nice look to it and you can adjust the brightness in two different zones on the face. And last, but not least, the bargain of a deal for this piece of machinery can't be beat!!

Pros: Price. Ease of use and install. Bluetooth. Power.

Cons: Not a dang thing. This isn't really a Con but, if you are streaming music and you plug it into the usb to charge your phone, it stops the music. BUT, if you plug it in to charge THEN start streaming music it'll continue to play and charge. Hope that made sense !!.

    I like it

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall this is a great unit. I would definitely recommend it but hope that JVC upgrades the cheap feeling buttons in future models. The unit has plenty of power for a typical user running 6.5" separates and the menus are fairly straightforward to navigate. It took a couple of tries to get the Bluetooth connected (probably user error) but it works great now. I can't believe I didn't think I wanted or needed the Bluetooth. My truck's interior is fairly loud yet callers have always been able to hear me clearly through the remotely mounted mic. Probably the best money I have spent on the truck to date.

Pros: BT for phone and music Power output is excellent Blue panel lights can be manually dimmed very low at night

Cons: Cheap clicky buttons No screws included to attach the unit to installation brackets (this is just a really cheap move on JVC's part) Display doesn't correctly dim with the headlights (it should according to JVC)

Excellent sound and lots of features for the price. Phone, IheartRadio, and Pandora all work great.

Pros: Has all the good Bluetooth features you could ever want. Is about 2 inches shorter in depth than most units making it fit where others may not. Sound quality is a vast improvement over stock radio.

Cons: Android app takes some getting use to and can be frustrating to use sometimes. Does not change display colors so that it can blend in with my red dash lights. USB does not support my 32g sandisk fit flash drive so I had to buy a 4g drive because I knew it was supported. It would be nice if JVC listed the largest supported drive in their radio specs. Does not have a plug to add a satellite radio to later. Does not have a plug on the back for adding existing steering wheel controls.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a better sound system for my older Jeep Wrangler. I purchased this unit and some good speakers. I haven't installed the speakers yet and the sound quality is already really impressive. I don't use CDs any more so the digital media unit is perfect. I can't beleive a unit for this price is this good. No issues with the media controls, integrates perfectly with my I Phone 4s and I Pod Touch. As usual Crutchfield included everthing needed for the install. I dont normally write reviews but this unit is worthy!

Pros: Sound quality, connectivity with media devices, price.

Cons: Haven't seen any yet. No CD but that is why it is a great unit for the price.

A+ media player. It allowed me to replace my outdated 10 CD carrier in the trunk of my car, and instead to very easily carry and play my 6000+ MP3s through the USB port. The installation was very easy and I was able to do it myself. The radio features are simple and useful. The sound is better than my old Kenwood radio. The bluetooth connections worked flawlessly with my Nexus 4. The best part was the value. A great 21st century (no CDs) media player for just $99.

Pros: No CDs, 21st century media player. Flawless blue tooth connection.

    Cons: None.

This radio has been nothing but a pleasure. The sound quality is so pure and crisp that I had to actually turn down my sub woofer amp because it was too loud. The phone features are easy to use. Everything is just wonderful.

    Cons: No CD player.

I replaced the factory AM/FM radio with this unit, and I haven't been this happy with an entertainment purchase in a LONG time. It sounds good and the Bluetooth hands free functionality is such a nice enhancement for my no-frills old car.

Pros: The price and the features of this until are a great value.

Cons: Get a good balance from the brightness of the display is a bit challenging. At night it can be really bright, and I'm struggling to get the "auto" brightness working or figured out without manually dialing it down.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have an old 79 BMW that had just a radio originally. The last owner decided to have a full stereo system put in the car, but ever since I purchased it from him I was disappointed with how it looked because the car could not accommodate a full sized radio, so it was sticking out from the center console. I decided to check out if there were options that would not be too pricey for a shorter depth unit that would fit into the dash without sticking out.. no it doesnt look factory on a 79 BMW, but it looks a lot nicer with it flush to the center console as it was intended with the factory unit. Sound quality for such a tiny thing is great, but I should note I do have a full amp in the trunk so that is kinda cheating. I like the options, and the android integration works excellent. I also purchased an after market Olympus ME-52W Noise Canceling Microphone and a gold plated mini 3.65mm cord to replace the stock mic that comes with the unit... and now the Bluetooth audio is great!! The stock mic is pretty crappy and I knew this going in because I bought another JVC for my VW GTI.. the extra $20 for quality audio capture is VERY worth it if you talk with any sort of frequency on your phone in the car. All in all this stereo was very good value in a very short unit (4.2" deep) which is exactly what I needed. All of the features work and the Android integration over BT is priceless to me. Phone becomes audio server, handsfree audio, and GPS navigation all in one :-)

Pros: Decent sound BT works very well Android features work very well good documentation Consistent with other JVC products for operation

Cons: Mic that comes with for BT hands free is pretty crappy, buy an aftermarket

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The JVC KD-X310BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 2.1+EDR), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.5 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KD-X310BT. See JVC's Bluetooth compatibility chart for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled devices.

Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KD-X310BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. When a paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC  head unit with a maximum of two Bluetooth phones and one Bluetooth audio player connected at one time (but only one can be used at a time).

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication: The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The controls of the KD-X310BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (with mounting bracket) featuring adjustable gain, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KD-X310BT also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing A Number: Using the KD-X310BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Entering a Phone Number: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's front-panel rotary dial.
      • Speed Dialing: You can store up to 6 contacts in the memory of this unit for speed dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can dial by using the downloaded phone book. You can download phone book data from your cell phone to the KD-X310BT.You can search through your contacts alphabetically (A-Z) or numerically (0-9). Up to 400 numbers can be stored for each registered cell phone.
      • Call Log: The Call Log is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls (up to 50 each).
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone.
Note: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the volume level and noise cancellation of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 10' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.505" (depth).

SMS: If your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone is compatible with SMS (Short Message Service), the JVC head unit will notify you when a message has been received. You must then use your phone to check the message. You cannot read, edit, or send a message through this unit.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Metadata Display): The JVC KD-X310BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The KD-X310BT will be able to control basic playback functions of your Bluetooth device's stored music; such as Play/Pause, Skip Next/Previous, Fast Forward/Rewind and Random/Repeat. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title. The KD-X310BT also supports audio streaming of music apps downloaded on your smartphone with metadata display and limited control. Advanced music control of your music apps will still need be done via your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone with Bluetooth via Bluetooth (not USB), the JVC KD-X310BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel control and external microphone. Simply press the "phone command" button on the KD-X310BT to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the KD-X310BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

Note: You can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Bluetooth. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

    USB/Aux Connectivity

USB Port: The JVC KD-X310BT features a front-panel USB 2.0 type-A port (behind a sliding cover) connection and control of a portable USB mass-storage class (MSC) device; such as select Android smartphones (Froyo/Gingerbread OS only), portable digital audio players, or USB thumbdrives. The USB port enables audio playback and control of MP3, WMA, WAV, and FLAC audio files stored on portable USB mass-storage class devices.

Note: When a mass-storage class (MSC) compatible smartphone is connected to the head unit's USB input, you can select its internal memory or external memory (such as a SD-card) for stored music playback.

JVC Playlist Creator Compatible: JVC Playlist Creator is a free Windows-based desktop software that helps organize, manage and transfer MP3/WMA music files to your USB (MSC) device from your PC. When you playback audio files that have been stored on your USB (MSC) device using JVC Playlist Creator through the KD-X310BT, you can search a file by song title, album name, artist name, or genre using the head unit's Quick Search function. The JVC Playlist Creator is a Windows-based software that can be downloaded for free from JVC's website to your PC. The JVC Playlist Creator is compatible with the following Windows Microsoft Operating Systems.

    • Windows XP Professional, Home Edition SP2 or later (32-bit)

Front-Panel Auxiliary Input: A front-panel stereo minijack is provided to allow the connection of almost any portable audio source with a 3.5mm headphone output (great for those non-Apple/Android devices). Simply connect your portable digital music player to the unit's front-panel auxiliary input, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system. The unit's front-panel auxiliary input can be turned On or Off.

    Smartphone Integration

Android Compatible: The JVC KD-X310BT supports USB-connection and playback of Android smartphones with Froyo or Gingerbread operating systems installed.

    • JVC Music Control: By connecting the JVC receiver via USB to an Android smartphone (Froyo/Gingerbread OS only) that has the free JVC Music Control app installed, it allows you to list and search your MP3 music stored on the smartphone from the receiver by artist name or album name. The JVC Music Control app also analyzes all of your songs that are in your Android smartphone, and creates a playlist according to your mood. Once the application has completed the analysis of the songs, simply select your current mood, and this application will generate a list of songs that best fits your mood. Your compatible Android smartphone must be recognized as a USB mass storage class device; not compatible with MTP protocol.
    • Drive Change Mode: When an Android smartphone is connected to the USB input terminal, you can select its internal memory or external memory (such as an microSD card) to playback the songs stored on the phone or on the memory card. This feature is also compatible with other USB mass storage class compliant smartphones, such as Blackberry. You can also change drives (up to 5) on multi-drive devices, such as multi-card readers and USB hubs.

iPod/iPhone Connectivity w/ DAC Bypass: The JVC KD-X310BT's front-panel USB port can acts as an iPod/iPhone high-speed direct connection when used with the Lightning or Dock cable that came with your iPod/iPhone. The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music and music apps to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 105dB. The KD-X310BT's USB connection also offers music navigation, information display, and charging of select iPod/iPhone models from the JVC in-dash head unit. You can choose to operate your iPod/iPhone through the JVC head unit's front-panel controls or from your Apple device's clickwheel/touchscreen.

    • Head Unit Mode: From the head unit's front-panel controls you can search for stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Podcast, Genre, and Composer. The contents of a Playlist or Category can be searched alphabetically (A-Z) or numerically (0-9). The KD-X310BT also supports Repeat (file/all) and Random (album/all) playback functions of your iPod/iPhone. You'll also be able to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track) from select music apps streamed to your iPhone. During Head Unit Mode, the KD-X310BT will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information; such as Track number, Elapsed playing time, Artist name, Song title, and Album label. Newer iPod/iPhones with iOS 6.0+ allow you to continue to access your Apple device's touchscreen in this mode in order to access other applications; older iPod/iPhone devices will be locked during connection.
    • iPod/iPhone Mode: The iPod/iPhone Mode lets you control your older iPod/iPhone (iOS 5.1.1 and earlier) from its clickwheel or touchscreen. You'll still have access to basic playback controls (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the head unit, but advanced navigation functions will be locked. No song/artist information is displayed in this mode. The unit will simply display "iPhone Mode".
Note: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position. This unit does not charge the iPad. If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KD-X310BT utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KD-X310BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KD-X310BT are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)
Note: When you are using the KD-X310BT with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

2.5V/4CH Preamp Output + Sub Control: The KD-X310BT is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front, Rear/SW). You can set the Rear/SW preamp outputs for connecting a pair of full-range rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When the unit's Rear/SW preamp output is set to Subwoofer, you can set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter at 55Hz, 85Hz, or 120Hz. You can also adjust the head unit's subwoofer level between -8 and +8 (separate from the main volume level).

Pro EQ: The KD-X310BT is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 12 preset sound modes (Flat, Hard Rock, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Talk, vocal Boost, Bass Boost, Classical, Dance, User 1, or User 2) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Pro EQ
    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25
    Treble 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 17.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) Fixed
Note: You can store Pro EQ bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (Bluetooth, AM/FM, Aux, USB, iPod, Pandora/iHeart Radio).

Sound Enhancements: The head unit provides further sound enhancements for your car audio system.

    • Digital Track Expander: The digital Track Expander automatically enhances compressed music files and restores the original richness of the recording.
    • Bass Boost: The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies.
    • Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can set this feature to High, Low, or Off.
    • Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

Yes, it works perfectly. I have the iPhone 6 plus and have not had any issues. [ BRYAN  Jan 05, 2015 ]
Works with my iPhone 6 with just one annoyance. The volume control on the phone adjust the sound level as well as the knob on the front of the stereo. To make the sound levels between the FM radio, USB and Bluetooth match up the iPhone volume has to be turned all the way up. If you don't turn the volume back down when you're done you get a loud reminder in your ear once you are done pairing it with the radio. You can also leave the volume of the phone alone and crank up the volume of the radio and in this case you will get a loud reminder when you switch to the FM radio or USB. [ EDWARD  Jan 05, 2015 ]
I don't have an iPhone 6 but it should, I have paired an ipod, mp3, and others phones with no problems. Hope this helps. [ JOSE DE LA  Jan 05, 2015 ]

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The unit will recognize 999 folders/20,480 files (999 files per folder max) JVC's information on playlist playback is below: JVC Playlist Creator Compatible: JVC Playlist Creator is a free Windows-based desktop software that helps organize, manage and transfer MP3/WMA music files to your USB (MSC) device from your PC. The JVC Playlist Creator is a Windows-based software that can be downloaded for free from JVC's website to your PC. The JVC Playlist Creator is compatible with the following Windows Microsoft Operating Systems. Windows XP Professional, Home Edition SP2 or later (32-bit) Windows Vista (32/64-bit) Windows 7 (32/64-bit) The display features a 11-segment, one-line LCD with white back-lit text and blue button illumination (fixed). Does not give a specific character per line number. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Oct 30, 2014 ]  Staff
Yeah I done want to use cigarette lighter too many wires. :-) [ L  Aug 22, 2014 ]
I'm not sure if there is enough power to do both. I just charge via an adapter to the cigarette lighter. I primarily use Bluetooth for the phone anyway. [ JOSHUA A.  Aug 20, 2014 ]
I have pretty decent sensitivity to light at night. I find it dims well. It has a day/night setting and you can enable it to automatically go to night mode when headlights are on or leave it manual and hit the dimmer button. Both settings have adjustability that allows you to set brightness for the buttons and the display independently in each mode. This is nice because my other stereo display (different brand) in another vehicle is very hard to see at night when fully dimmed, but the buttons are still pretty bright at full dim. [ Nathan  Jul 29, 2014 ]
There is a dimmer on this unit. It has day, night and auto; I actually always keep it set to day. I'm very pleased with this unit as it fits very well in my 1983 VW Vanagon Westfalia. These older vehicles did not have the depth required for a CD player and would require adapter kits to bring it out of the dash (ugly). I really like that I can control the iPod through the USB (iPhone 5s) as well as the head unit. It comes with the hands free mic but it doesn't work that well for my vehicle due to the age of the vehicle and road noise. I give this unit 5 stars for the Bluetooth, USB and price. Jason. [ Jason Anthony  Jul 25, 2014 ]
You can dim it sufficiently...the face isn't the bright in the first place beside the blue on the buttons but you cam dim it low as u want.... [ ROBERT  Jul 25, 2014 ]
Yes it can be dimmed. I suffered an eye injury a few years ago which made me very sensitive to LED lights, especially at night. Not only can this unit be dimmed, but there are several color options that aid in this as well. [ Robert  Jul 25, 2014 ]
You can reduce it but it's still pretty bright at night but it's easy to read. In my malibu it's the daytime i can't seem to adjust right to read it but i got use to it and great media radio! [ RANDALL  Jul 25, 2014 ]
This display has a dimming feature so long as you connect the appropriate wire in the back. [ Louis  Jul 25, 2014 ]
Yes, this is a very nice stereo with great sound adjustment and it does have a light adjustment as well. The bluetooth feature is great as well. Make sure you check on your vehicle as well to see if you need the reminder ding module for like if your door is open or a check or warning ding comes on so you can hear it if it comes out through your speakers. Depends on vehicle. [ Debra  Jul 25, 2014 ]
The display can be dimmed for use at night. It certainly isn't much brighter than the other lights that will be on in your car. If you forget to change the the brightness, it will definitely be too bright though ;) [ JONATHAN  Jul 25, 2014 ]
I think it does a good job. I don't think it is too bright at night. [ Michael  Jul 25, 2014 ]
Jason, it is bright. However, you are able to dim it to your liking. [ BRYAN  Jul 25, 2014 ]
It has a dim function. At the lowest setting, its still pretty bright at night, but in direct sunlight, its kinda hard to see on the brightest setting [ Jason  Jul 25, 2014 ]
I have a new Android phone and the unit does update [ Debra  Jul 25, 2014 ]
Im sorry i cannot answer your question, i dont have an android phone. [ mike  Jul 12, 2014 ]
If you are trying to pair another device you need to first turn off Bluetooth on the original paired device. Then turn on blue tooth on the new device and pair. [ DREW  Jul 03, 2014 ]
Hello, the only way I know how to delete the paired Bluetooth. Is to do from the phone or iPad. Go to setting Go to Bluetooth Select device Then select forget the device [ TYE  Jul 02, 2014 ]
Turn off the blue tooth on your phone [ BRIAN  Jul 01, 2014 ]
Should be able to do that through the settings in your phone for Bluetooth. [ CRAIG W.  Jul 01, 2014 ]
It does not display track information from Spotify but it does allow skip/pause from the stereo. [ PAUL  Jun 11, 2014 ]
The radio doesn't have spottily-specific compatibility, but does support bluetooth audio. The forward and back buttons work to change the track and the display should show the track information. [ JOSHUA A.  Jun 11, 2014 ]
Hi - I have not yet tried Spotify to see how the tracks are displayed. Now that I have had the unit for a while I am very happy with the sound and functions. I mostly use the Bluetooth audio with the music I have downloaded to my Iphone. [ DANIEL  Jun 11, 2014 ]
Yes it will. Even in bluetooth. However, biggest issue is sometimes it won't connect through USB. [ Jeff  Jun 11, 2014 ]
Sorry. Have not installed it yet. Hopefully will get it done soon. [ DAVID  Jun 11, 2014 ]
I'm assuming that you can, because I have am Android phone and it will display song names through the head unit while on Spotify and blue tooth. Hope this helps. [ JOSE  Jun 11, 2014 ]
I recently bought this and yes it does in fact provide track info and allows to pause and skip without being in the app itself. [ BRYAN  Jun 11, 2014 ]
Never used spottily but for pandora Yes in Bluetooth mode and APP mode. You can still have phone plugged in and stream your music as well and control from head unit. [ DENNIS M  Jun 11, 2014 ]
Dose JVC make a pull out anymore I have a jeep and would like a pull out instead of the detachable face [ S  May 27, 2014 ]
18 FM and 6 AM, but there are only 6 preset buttons. To access presets above 6 you use a button combo and the volume knob. [ JOSHUA A.  Mar 22, 2014 ]
    18 FM and 12 AM presets [ dale  Mar 21, 2014 ]
There are 18 FM presets, and 6 AM presets on this unit. [ Jeff  Mar 17, 2014 ]  Staff

I have steering wheel controls on my 2002 jeep liberty. Will they continue to work when I install the new radio? [ Gabe76  Jun 30, 2014 ]
The KD-X310BT is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front, Rear/SW). You can set the Rear/SW preamp outputs for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When the unit's Rear/SW preamp output is set to Subwoofer, you can set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter at 55Hz, 85Hz, or 120Hz. To use hands free Bluetooth to make calls would I have to install a mic? [ Priscilla  Apr 17, 2014 ]
The 250BT was at the end of it's model year, and the 310 does look to be a similar replacement. The KD-X310BT is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front, Rear/SW). [ Jeff  Feb 24, 2014 ]  Staff
