MirrorLink for a new level of integration with select smartphones

JVC's KW-NSX600 DVD receiver works with the MirrorLink system to provide control over an ever-growing list of smartphones, including the popular Samsung Galaxy S III and Nokia Symbian models. With MirrorLink, you'll enjoy control over your music, phone contacts, and select apps through this JVC's bright, 6.1" touchscreen display, with easy-to-read graphics that allow you to make your menu choices with a quick glance.

What will I need for MirrorLink?

You'll need a compatible receiver like the KW-NSX600, a compatible smartphone, and an app that works with MirrorLink. The system works like this:

  • Download the app (prices vary) to your compatible phone. This lets the phone enter "car mode," which provides a simplified graphical interface that's ideal for use in the car, as it's easy to see at a glance, and much easier to use.
  • Connect your phone to the receiver using the receiver's USB input and your phone's USB cable.
  • Launch the app on your phone, and tap the MirrorLink icon in the receiver's source menu. The optimized car mode menu will appear on your receiver's screen.

Versatile iPhone® app control

You've got some pretty cool options for using an iPhone with the KW-NSX600, once you're connected with JVC's KS-U30 cable. You can view and control a wide variety of apps on the receiver's screen. Here's some of what you can tap into:

  • Basic control of audio apps like Tunein Radio
  • Sound tuning with JVC's SonicMax Pro app
  • Web Reader text-to-speech app for social media and web pages
  • Traffic info from Inrix, Cobra iRadar, and other driving apps
  • Powerful navigation with Sygic or the MotionX-GPS Drive app (subscription required) — you'll be able to see maps and live traffic reports on the receiver's screen.

You'll still need to use your iPhone with some apps, so consider adding an iPhone mount, for easy use.

The JVC KW-NSX600's 6.1" display makes control easy.

And the rest of your media?

The KW-NSX600 also offers DVD, CD, and USB playback, including support for MP3, WMA, and WAV files. And you can enjoy video content on the screen when you're parked, or send video to rear seat screens when you're taking long road trips with the family.

Once you plug your iPod or iPhone into the USB input, you can tap your way through all your tunes and playlists on this JVC's responsive touchscreen. If you're not an iPod user, you can load up a USB drive or a recordable disc with digital files — it's easy to fit hundreds of tracks on either one, and you can still dive in using the touchscreen.

JVC also makes it easy for you to take your Pandora® Internet radio stations on the road. Just plug in your iPhone and you'll have touchscreen control over Pandora right in your dash. If you own an Android™ device, you can use your Bluetooth® link to listen to Pandora.

Bluetooth safety and convenience

This receiver lets you enjoy the safety and convenience of hands-free calling with almost any Bluetooth phone. And you can stream audio from your device to the receiver as well, for a wireless, tangle-free connection whenever you get in the car.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility.

For the price its a decent head unit. Good output power and a bunch of cool features. However the app function doesn't work well and the display is very lack luster.

Pros: Good RMS output. Good EQ controls. Bluetooth works well. Easy to Use. Price

Cons: App mode doesn't not work well with the Galaxy line of phones (lack of apps compatible with Mirrorlink). The display is very lack lust and plain. Limited display customization as well

Pros: Love the look and sound.

    Cons: Not the best touchscreen

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The mirror link and MHL features are virtually unusable and the tuner is unreasonably complicated at first. Everything else about this unit is great! Even with the MHL/mirror link issues, this unit does everything I want it to do and more. Once you get familiar with the interface, it's great! The sound quality on the microphone and calls seems to be great on both sides. The install was simple thanks to Crutchfield's instructions and included wiring harnesses. I am completely happy with this purchase.

Pros: Lots of features. Great call quality. Looks great in my truck. More features than I knew I wanted!

Cons: MHL and MirrorLink are useless for me. Radio tuner is complicated at first.

Works great, MirrorLink not ready for primetime

This a a great radio that I bought mainly because of MirrorLink. I was disappointed that the phone app keeps crashing so I can't even use this feature.

Pros: Full of features touch screen

Cons: Smartphone app for MirrorLink constantly crashes. Feature not usable.

Easy to install and just about as full-featured as you can get in this price-point. The Pioneer has a better GUI in my opinion, but they don't have nearly as many features.

Pros: MHL (MirrorLink stinks) Shows song and artist info streaming Bluetooth from my Android RDS song info is a little crowded but you have the option of expanding it out so you can see the full song/artist

Cons: GUI is very plain compared to Pioneer and is non-animated. Some folks won't care; others like the extra flash. Also, too bad they don't have a remote: those are really nice for tailgating.

    great basic 2 din Radio..

Great Radio forr the price. This radio's "Mirrorlink" functionality should have been tested fully before its release to the consumer. Other than that it does what it says.

Pros: Its a great radio for Ipod/IPhone lovers. Overall GUI looks nicer than others at this price range. Bluetooth works great.

Cons: Mirror link doesn't work with my Samsung S3 & S4,sucks cause that's why I bought it. The special Iphone cable should have been included. Does not play AAC/M4p through USB or CD/DVD.

You're Never Too Old To Learn

    2007 Toyota Camry
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My 2007 plain-vanilla Camry needed to be more user friendly with hands free calling, navigation and music. And at 67 years of age I thought, you're never too old to do it yourself. Crutchfield was great to work with from shopping to purchase, install and problem solving. When I phoned their assistance folks Mark got me to the coolest link where he compared products remotely on PC that were compatible to what I wanted, my GS3 phone and my Camry. The JVC NSX600 looked like the perfect match with MirrorLINK. The product was AT MY DOOR 9AM THE NEXT MORNING. The installation, Camry specific dashboard trim and wire harness were included free and fit perfectly. From other customer reviews I was able to determine that the Samsung store MirrorLINK App was a piece-O-xxxx. The customer reviews lead me right to the place to download the Full Mirror App which you must have. I added the 5-11 pin connector as also recommended for MHL operation by the customer reviews, and it works great. Now if I can just remember how to operate it!

Pros: Great customer support. Addition of customer reviews are very informative and helpful. Delivery was astounding.

Cons: Interoperability between phones and software can cause problems. Do your homework on the software interface issues that can significantly degrade your user satisfaction.

    Not iPhone 5 friendly

Frank from Sacramento, CA on 3/1/2014

Overall this deck is pretty nice...good sound, built well, responsive screen, loads fairly quickly (although blue tooth is a little slow), lot's of configuration options, etc., but this deck is not iPhone 5 (or later) friendly. What JVC fails to explicitly state is that if you have a iPhone 5 or later you will not be able to stream video from your phone even with the additional KS-U30 cable (purchased separately). By video I mean videos, pictures and APP's!! So all of those JVC friendly apps like GPS, Camera, Tuneln, etc DON'T WORK. Just got off the phone with a JVC tech who confirmed this, since I could not get any of these apps to work on my brand new stereo. Also Mirrorlink & MHL won't work with the iPhone either. Mirrorlink is for Nokia & Andriod phones only. MHL is supposed to be for all other smartphones and I think it does work with iPhone 4S and older. Wish I would have known all of this prior to purchasing. So if you have an iPhone 5 or newer all you can do with this stereo is watch a DVD (only when you hook up the parking brake cable), make a phone call, or listen to music & Pandora. That's it.

Pros: -lot's of features (when applicable) -good sound -built well -responsive screen -boot up speed is fairly good -lots of customizations & very configurable

Cons: -Not iPhone 5 friendly (no video or onscreen ability rendering apps like GPS useless) -Bluetooth is glitchy upon startup. (req. you to select ipod first then bluetooth every time car is shut off)

I love this jvc reciever sounds great when using the bluetooth. Love the ease of use and the great price through Crutchfield.

Pros: Price, ease of use, sound through bluetooth.

Cons: Drivelink is just ok. Need to be able to download the full drivelink. I don't know if it's a jvc problem or Samsung. Sound quality is not as good through drivelink.

    Awesome Head Unit!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great unit! Simple install, just ground out the parking brake sensor on the post in the back of the unit to run DVD or video while driving. Great service and shipping. I Bluetooth spotify from my iPhone 5 works with ease!

Pros: Large screen, easy install, comes with all you need, fairly easy UI after you get the hang of it. Unit still works in -20 degree weather!

Cons: Bright screen! Tried to play with it a little to lower the brightness but just doesn't have much range. Also, the iPhone 5 converter would be crucial! Every time id charge my phone from the USB it tries to switch to that player rather than BT. I'd love to display my iPhone screen on the unit...someday! Please release that converter ASAP!

    Ok at best

Perfect, I was looking for a radio with GPS without having to pay an arm and a leg. This radio doesn't have GPS but has MHL wish allows me to mirror my android phone GPS into my stereo. You can pretty much see anything that displays on your phone.

Pros: MHL, DVD player, and lots of other fucntions like rear camera, preamp for subwoofer and etc.

Cons: In order use MHL you need to buy and 5 to 11 pin converter tip for newer phones like Galaxy S3 and above. I had to buy a MHL adapter since I couldn't find the tip in my local electronic store. It cost and extra 20 dollars, well worth of it!

Unit mirrors phone completely and fluidly. For the best experience install the Drivelink full mirror app available on the web, not the one on the play store. Also using the S3 mhl 5 to 11 pin adapter, will produce HD video on the head unit screen completely lag free.

Pros: Total lag free phone mirroring with android.

Cons: Instructions are not very detailed, had to go online to forums for answers

    MirrorLink FAIL

Troy from Atl, GA on 12/18/2013

    2003 GMC Sierra Denali
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

MirrorLink is LAME! The selling point is the compatibility with a Samsung GS3. Research reviews of the "Samsung MirrorLink App" and you'll get the idea. If you want the unit to "mirror" your device, you must purchase a seperate adapter, and then you CAN NOT CONTROL THE DEVICE on the JVC screen. When you actually use the MirrorLink App, you have VERY LIMITED control of only three on screen functions. "Music", which is only whatever digital music is on your device (NOT Pandora, Receiver, CD, XM etc), "Phone", BIG DEAL, and "Navigation", which will not adapt to any other setting for maps, other than its default.

Pros: It works as a DVD player and monitor for a backup camera.

Cons: Advertised as a must have for use with a Samsung Galaxy S3. NOT. MirrorLink is barely functional and frankly, it's stupid!

    Plenty options

    2006 Toyota Corolla
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed in my daughter's Corolla and she loves it. BT works well for streaming audio and hands free phone calls. The DVD is a bonus because she has a ton of music.; the picture quality is not bad either. MirrorLink work great when connected to my Galaxy S3 AND using the modified version of DriveLink App on the phone. The normal version is limited but you can get the mod version from XDA-Developers. I can watch Netflix, View security Cams, Email, YouTube and display any app on the phone to include Google Maps & other nav apps.It charges my GS3 via USB. I have not tried to play music while using nav yet.. The iPhone App Control works well with the 4S using the JVC KS U30 cable. I can navigate and play Pandora. Only the apps listed on JVC site worked. The menu was difficult to manage and took time to learn. I had to try 3 different Flash Drives before found one that the HU would read from. It was an old one and it would not update until I removed all the other files from the Flash Drive. Worth the money!

Pros: Bluetooth works well for hands free phone use (Most important feature b/c our daughter could not use the phone while driving)

Cons: Doesn't display ANY video from iPhone 5S b/c the JVC KS U30 cable is analog only and the Lightening port on the 5S is digital only, The adapted DO NOT convert the signal from digital to analog so tou can only get audio using the iPhone 5S.

does everything well and with full mirror link works well with Samsung Galaxy S4. Did not have a remote which would have been nice but really not that far of a reach. Followed directions to update software on JVC site but no luck says no update found.

    Cons: No remote...

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I chose the JVC head unit as an impulse buy while on the Crutchfield web site. The sale price seemed great and it was packed with features. Not to mention Crutchfiled makes buying and installing a car stereo easier than anyone else around. Over all I'm very pleased with my purchase. I was a little disappointed in the iphone integration being that it advertises "made for ipod / iphone" but not enough to replace the unit or slag it too much. I think it would have better integration with an android galaxy phone which utilizes the mirror link technology. The bluetooth works great, so I can stream slacker while driving. My only fault with the unit would be the FM reception seems a bit weak. My factory installed stereo pulled in stations much better than this unit, but when you have pandora or slacker available... its not a major issue.

    Pros: versatility

Cons: both the FM station reception, and some of the screen layouts would be in the con list.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, this is an excellent piece. The installation is easy with easy-to-follow instructions that came with the product. Sound quality and effects are much better that the factory installed. The Bluetooth phone is easy to pair as well. My wife loves it.

Pros: Lots of functions, easy to use, touch screen responds well.

Cons: Has a GPS antenna slot, but the manufacturer said that the antenna is not released yet. Pandora and GPS functionality eat up large volume of data.

Good functionality, awkward Mirrorlink, decent sound

Dan from Wyckoff, NJ on 10/31/2013

    2010 Dodge Dakota
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The NSX600 has some nice attributes for a touch screen head unit. It has a fast interface, the touch screen is responsive, and I can see it in sunlight. I like having hard buttons, especially the volume control knob. Installation is no different than any other double din unit. I did buy it for Mirrorlink, which leaves a lot to be desired. Mirrorlink is pretty half baked, I run a Samsung Galaxy S4 with the correct package, and while it does mirror the screen, its all Nannyware, and it only allows Navigation, phone and the worlds worst music player. As far as the head unit itself, its pretty smooth operating, but pretty limited in flexibility. Like most units these days, it has changeable colors and fonts, but its pretty limited in what you can change it too. My biggest gripes are with the audio controls. The equalizer is pretty awful, and uses the vintage JVC/Kenwood 3 band ganged equalizer, with the silly Q control. Its pretty hard to get the unit to sound good consistently (I run several outboard amps and a sub), as the software moves frequency bands together, which is just sub optimal. Second major issue is with Bluetooth call quality. No one can hear me, despite trying several different microphones. No matter what I do, people can't hear me. Its a common complaint with BT, but this is the worst so far. Final note is that there doesn't appear to be an IR remote capability, which would be helpful, but not terrible. All in all, a decent unit, but not ideal

Pros: Fast GUI, clean interface, Mirrorlink actually works for certain things, bright screen, hard volume control button

Cons: Sub optimal audio controls and equalizer, Mirrorlink is very limited, bluetooth phone audio quality is awful

    Great value

Rob M from Parkesburg, PA on 10/20/2013

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Let me start off by saying that for the discounted price I payed that this is a great unit. Operating System As far as the interface goes, while it's not the slickest looking operating system, it is very snappy (much more so than my old Pioneer head unit). Display The screen is nice and bright, even in the sun. The resolution is acceptable but in today's day and age you would think they would up the resolution to at least 720p. Features It has most of the standard features of a decent radio, however the reason I purchased this unit was for the Mirror Link feature. Now, for android users the compatibility list says it is not compatible with my Galaxy S4 however if you search the internet a bit, you can find a modified version of the required Drive Link app called "Drive Link Full Mirroring". This version of the app will allow a few more phones to work correctly but more importantly it allows you to mirror ANY app on your phone while controlling it through the head unit itself. There is a couple draw backs to mirror link however. First off the cable does not supply enough power to charge my phone (500ma instead of the 2a required) so it actually discharges a bit while connected. Also the cable end is quite large so it will not fit without removing most cases. And finally if you want to stream video using your phone you will need a Samsung HDTV micro USB adapter while switching to the MHL feature on the radio.

Pros: Snappy interface DVD Player Mirror Link MHL Great Value

Cons: Mirror Link can be troublesome at times. Not enough power to charge while using mirror link. No HD Radio Too many labels on the front (looks tacky) Low resolution screen.

Once downloaded, individual apps are grouped into three categories (Music, Location, Phone) for easy access. Selecting a category lets you quickly access specific apps for music playback, car navigation and maps, as well as hands-free telephone communication.

      • Phone: The app retrieves all contact information stored in the smartphone. You can make and answer phone calls from the head unit's touchscreen, just as you would normally do on your smartphone. The head unit will even read aloud text messages and let you reply.
    • Nokia Car Mode w/ MirrorLink: To use MirrorLink with your Nokia smartphone, the "Nokia Car Mode with Mirrorlink" application ($29.99) must be downloaded from the Nokia Store and installed on your compatible Nokia smartphone.  Once downloaded, individual apps are grouped into three categories (Call, Drive, Music) for easy access. Drive Change Mode will let you switch between your BlackBerry smartphone's internal and external memory (such as microSD Card), so you can listen to music stored on either memory. You'll continue to be able control basic playback functions; such as folder/file search, play/pause, and skip next/previous; regardless of memory type.

    iPod/iPhone Integration

iPod/iPhone Connectivity: The JVC KW-NSX600 supports audio/video playback from select Apple iPods and iPhones.

    • Audio/Video Playback: The optional JVC KS-U30 USB A/V Cable For iPod/iPhone (105KSU30, sold separately) allows you to playback and control audio/video from your iPod or iPhone on this JVC multimedia head unit. You can access audio/video content stored on your iPod/iPhone device or apps streamed to your Apple device. The cable features a proprietary Apple iPod 30-pin dock connector on one end and a male composite video/stereo audio RCA connectors on other end, along with a USB type-A connector. The cable plugs into the unit's rear-panel AV input and USB port. The unit's USB port handles the control, metadata display, and charging of your iPod/iPhone. The composite video/stereo RCA inputs handle audio and video transfer from your iPod/iPhone to the JVC receiver. By using the AV input, the music travels to the receiver as an analog signal, so you can even play the Digital-Rights-Protected files you've stored on your iPod/iPhone. The unit's rear-panel AV input must be set to "iPod" in order to playback audio/video from your connected iPod/iPhone. Video can only be displayed while the vehicle is in park.
    • Audio Only Playback: If you only want to playback audio from your iPod or iPhone, you can simply connect it to the KW-NSX600's USB port using the USB/iPod dock cable that came with your iPod/iPhone. This 1-wire USB connection bypasses the iPod/iPhone's DAC and sound quality is maximized through the head unit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal-to-Noise ratio up to 95dB. The unit's rear-panel AV input must be set to "AV-IN" in order to use the 1-wire USB connection. You will not be able to play Digital-Rights-Protected files. This 1-wire connection only supports audio stored on your iPod/iPhone device and Pandora (no other apps or video content).
Note: If you have an iPod nano (7th gen), iPod touch (5th gen), or iPhone 5/5C/5S; use the Lighting-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect to the head unit. Or, use the JVC KSU-30 iPod cable (105KSU30, sold separately), plus the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter (472LTN230P, sold separately) to access App Mode. These Apple devices only support audio playback (no video output).

This is very useful for the person riding in your passenger seat. Basic iPod navigation controls remain functional on the KW-NSX600's touchscreen, but the advanced Playlist and Category search modes cannot be accessed from the head unit.
    • iPod Out: The iPod out mode displays the stored music playback menu of your iPod/iPhone on the JVC head unit's LCD touchscreen. You can control playback of your iPod's stored music by navigating the mirrored on-screen menu. The iPod out mode requires the JVC KSU-30 cable (sold separately) and that your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. The iPod out mode does not function for videos or apps.

App Control: The JVC KW-NSX600 in-dash multimedia head unit offers two distinct App Control modes when connected to your Apple iPhone via the JVC KSU-30 iPod cable (not compatible with the USB connector cable that comes with your iPhone device).

    • App Mode: App mode for your iPhone requires the JVC KSU-30 iPod cable (105KSU30, sold separately). You will also need the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter (472LTN230P, sold separately) for the iPhone 5/5C/5S. App mode lets you listen to your favorite music apps, such as iHeartRadio, SiriusXM,, Rhapsody, & Slacker streamed to your iPhone (iOS 3.0+) through the JVC head unit and your vehicle's speakers. You can even watch video on the JVC DVD receiver's touchscreen from streaming movie apps, such as Netflix & YouTube, downloaded on your iPhone 4/4S (iOS 4.0+). The iPod mode's video functions can only be accessed when the vehicle's parking brake is fully engaged. Not all apps will be compatible and only limited (basic), if any, control will be available. Available controls may include (Play/Pause & Skip Previous/Next). Access to your iPhone's downloaded application will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet.

Note: You can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone 4S/5/5C/5S. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

    Disc & USB Playback

Disc Compatibility: The unit has a front-loading disc-slot to make loading your disc easier because there is no panel to slide or fold-down. The JVC KW-NSX600 supports playback of DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-Audio, CD-Text, CD-R/RW, and VCD discs. The unit supports MPEG-1/MPEG-2 and DiVX video files recorded on to CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, or DVD+R/RW discs. Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KW-NSX600 utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The KW-NSX600 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the KW-NSX600 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the KW-NSX600 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KW-NSX600 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to low, the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to high, and the volume control will range from 0 to 50. The internal amp can also be turned off when all the speakers are powered by outboard amplifiers.

5ch/4V Preamp Outputs (w/ Sub Level Control): The KW-NSX600 is equipped with 5ch/4.0V preamp outputs (Front, Rear, Subwoofer). The front and rear preamp outputs allow fader control, while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. You can adjust the KW-NSX600's subwoofer level (-50 to +10) independently from the head unit's main volume control for added bass volume.

Built-in Crossovers: The JVC KW-NSX600 features a built-in high-pass filter for the unit's front & rear speakers, and a low-pass filter for the unit's subwoofer output.

    • High-Pass Filter: You can activate a variable high-pass filter (40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220 Hz or Through) for the unit's front & rear channels (speaker- or preamp-level), so low frequency signals are cut off from your system's front & rear speakers. The front & rear channel's high-pass filters can be set independently of one another.
    • Low-Pass Filter: The unit's subwoofer preamp output features a low-pass filter. In order to prevent high-frequencies from being sent to your system's subwoofers, you can set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter to 50, 60, 80, 100, 120 Hz or Through.

Speaker Select: You can select which type & size of speaker you have connected to the head unit. Choose from Standard (OEM/Factory), Narrow (4"/5"), Middle (6"/5x7"/6x8"), Wide (6x9").

Pro EQ: The KW-NSX600 is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 8 preset sound modes (Flat, Natural, Dynamic, Vocal Boost, Bass Boost, Vibrant, and User) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 150 Hz +/- 10 dB (-5 to +5) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 kHz +/- 10 dB (-5 to +5) 1.0, 2.0
    Treble 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 17.5 kHz +/- 10 dB (-5 to +5) Fixed
Note: The audio adjustments are memorized for each individual source until you adjust the sound again.

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can set the Loudness to On or Off.

Dynamic Range Compression: This function reduces a Dolby Digital soundtrack's dynamic range so you can hear quieter dialog without being overwhelmed by loud sections. You can choose a setting of On (reduced dynamic range), Dialogue (clearer movie dialogue), or Off (full dynamic range).

Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -15 to +6.

Key-Touch Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    AV Connections

Dual A/V Inputs: The JVC KW-NSX600 DVD receiver is fitted with two audio/video inputs. The unit features a front-panel 3.5mm audio/video input for connecting a temporary external A/V source, such as a game console. The head unit also features a composite video/stereo audio RCA input on the rear-panel for connecting a permanent external A/V source, such as a Blu-ray player or mobile ATSC tuner. The rear-panel audio/video input can be set to one of the following modes.

    • AV IN: Choose when connecting an A/V component like a game system.
    • iPod Video: Select when connecting your iPod using the optional USB/Video cable (105KSU30, sold separately).

Video Output: The rear-panel Video Output consists of a  composite video jack that allows you to connect an optional external monitor. You can watch the same audio/video source that is being played back on the JVC head unit on your connected external monitor (sold separately). You can select between a 16:9, 4:3 LB, or 4:3 PS Aspect Ratio for the unit's video output to match your connected monitor.

Camera In: The rear-panel Camera input consists of a composite video connector which allows you to connect an optional rear-view camera (105KVCM20, sold separately). The unit features a reverse gear signal wire, that when connected to your vehicle's reverse light circuit, will automatically switch the KW-NSX600's display to the rear-view camera input. Automatic video switching takes approximately 1.2 seconds. Audio from your music source will continue playing, while the back-up camera is displayed.

    Remote Control

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). No. Just hit the phone icon and it shoud pop right back up . Thats how mine works. Also try to use mirror link and not bluetooth. [ JOHN  Dec 31, 2013 ]

I don't have an iPhone so I'm not real familiar with the compatibility issues of Mirror Link and Apple. It's my understanding that Mirror Link works with a limited number of Android phones and but I don't believe it is compatible with iphone. Sorry for the late response. [ Donald  Dec 15, 2013 ]
No, only select android devices (you often need to download an app). most of these stereos have a better interface with Apple anyway though, mirrorlink hasn't been that positive in terms of laggy interface, pixelation and more... [ ANGUS  Dec 14, 2013 ]
I would love to help answer any questions about this head unit. But unfortunately im an android man so I dont think I will be much help in this particular subject. But for what its worth it does work with my galaxy s3. I had a problem in the beginning but that was my fault cuz I downloaded the drivelink app from the google play store and that was the wrong one. I had to download it from the samsung app store and once I did that it was up and runnin beautiful. No problem. It does what it said it would and a lil more. Sorry I couldnt give you a yes or no about the iphone5. [ DAMION E  Dec 13, 2013 ]
I don't have an iPhone, but my understanding is the mirror link function is for Android phones. IPhones use a specific adapter and are able to replicate some, but not all mirror link functions. [ Robert  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Mirrorlink only works with Galaxy S3, S4 or Htc. For Iphone you will need the optional cable from jvc tbat plugs into the usb jack and only certain apps are supported. [ FRANCISO  Dec 12, 2013 ]
App link work really good with the iPhone 4S display video with audio. I could only get Pandora to work via Bluetooth and other audio with the iPhone 5S as the video signal on the 5/5S is digital and the cables and input on this JVC is analog. Some say they used an adapter to go from the iPhone 5/5S (Lightening to 30 pin) and a signal convert to change the 5/5S digital signal to analog. The JVC KS-U30 iPod® A/V cable is analog and for the 4S; I used the adapter to change the 5S Lightening to the 30 pin and could only get audio with every configuration I could think of on the HU. MirrorLink works on my Android GS3 really good with a modified app from xda-developers called DriveLink which is require on the phone.I can get Google maps, Netflix, Internet, Email, Phone, Pandora, and almost any app on the phone. I can Pandora and some audio while navigating with Google maps. Hope this is helpful. [ DARRYL  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Hi Carly, It doesn't work with iPhone 5. Best regards, Lee [ DESI  Dec 12, 2013 ]
No, the mirror link does not work with iphone. It is only a function of Samsung mobile phones. The iphone integration is not as seamless nor as good as I would have hoped. I hope this helps. [ ALAN  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Sorry can't help you - don't have i-stuff but it works fine with my LG. [ LEO  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Mirror Link is only for Samsung 3+ devices. [ Stephen  Dec 11, 2013 ]
from what I can tell mirror link is for a select few androids. Iphone has its own applications for this stereo. I'm an android user and even though I don't have mirror link, I am still happy with this stereo. [ david  Dec 11, 2013 ]
    No. [ DYLAN  Dec 11, 2013 ]
IPhone 5. I don't know should work if you have the right connection though [ TROY W  Dec 11, 2013 ]
    Yes it does. [ TIMOTHY  Dec 11, 2013 ]
No it does not. Only works worth Android. But all other apps work with iPhone5 [ Eric  Dec 11, 2013 ]
Apple devices Apple devices (iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch) do not work with MirrorLink. That's because most stereos already work with Apple devices via the USB cable. MirrorLink is designed to be the bridge for all of the OTHER smartphones - eventually [ CESAR H  Dec 11, 2013 ]
