Polk Audio Atrium Sub10
Our take on the Polk Audio Atrium Sub10 by Crutchfield's Loren Barstow
The lack of walls and other reflective surfaces can make outdoor speakers sound thin and tinny. But now you can add some real low-end punch to your outdoor music system with the Polk Atrium Sub10. This all-weather subwoofer features a 10" driver to deliver the deep bass frequencies that typical outdoor speakers just can't handle. Connect the Sub10 to your receiver or amplifier, and you'll enjoy fuller, richer sound at all your cookouts and outdoor gatherings.
The tough resin enclosure sports a terracotta finish that you can paint to match your deck or patio décor. And it supports up to 200 pounds, so you can use it as a plant stand or an end table.
Polk designed the Sub10 to perfectly complement their Atrium Sat30 outdoor speakers, but you can use it to add punchy bass to any outdoor speaker system.
Sounds great. Really helped fill in the bottom end out by the pool.

Why did you buy this?
Need some thump by the pool. [ Dennis May 05, 2017 ]
I installed one of these Polk Atrium Sub 10's poolside last year and was amazed by the quality of the sound this sub provided to the overall listening experience. Great Polk quality, superb Crutchfield customer support, I decided to add a second one for this years pool season! [ S Mar 03, 2017 ]
I wanted to add some lows on my outdoor deck. It seemed like a good option. [ John Sep 01, 2016 ]

This is my second purchase of this items and it is excellent [ GARTH A Jun 17, 2016 ]
A friend of mine had one. Really liked the sound it provided to the outdoor setup. [ James J Jun 15, 2016 ]
I was looking for indiscreet sub woofer to pair with my Polk Audio Atrium Sat30 outdoor speakers. The Polk Audio Atrium Sub10 was a logical choice for pairing / wiring with the Sat30's and design appear rugged enough to be mounted in fire pit area next to a lake shore. [ Glen May 09, 2016 ]
I have Polk outdoor speakers and the quality is great. Needed to add a sub so I went with Polk [ Mark Feb 18, 2016 ]
The absolute best way to connect this subwoofer is with a dedicated Subwoofer Amplifier; whether component style, modular, or a subwoofer plate amplifier, which is wired with Speaker wire to a remote location that's safe from the weather. Everytime I install one of these with a dedicated subwoofer amplifier, The sound is phenominal !!! And with a dedicated amplifier, you can adjust how much bass you want/need to blend with your other full range speakers! [ ROBERT CARTER Feb 06, 2016 ]
For better balanced sound for my outdoor system [ THOMAS S Dec 16, 2015 ]
3 questions already asked
1 answer Has anyone tried the Atrium Sub10 with SONOS Connect:Amp? My pool / patio is a significant distance from the house, my SONOS Play:1's work out there (so Wifi is strong-enough), but running speaker lines from the house is a problem. The SONOS Connect:Amp is the only amplifier I have found rated for outdoor use? Or another question; is how will this sub-woofer work driven with only 55 Watts? [ jjjjofus Jun 20, 2017 ]
I have a Sonos connect Amp, run through the Atrium Sub, then to 2 Bose outdoor speakers on my patio. It works and sounds great! Now don't get me wrong, if want gut wrenching bass, your not going to get it with the Sonos amp and this sub. You would need to goto a larger driver and sub. However, for great quality mids and highs (i.e. Bose) and decent bass response, it works good. And you can't beat Sonos user friendliness and input options. Good luck!! [ Dan Jun 20, 2017 ]
Run off amp. It's OK. Odd hookup. Just bare wires you need to splice. Should have jacks. Mine were free with purchase. So I can't complain too much. [ Paul Jun 10, 2017 ]
This is not a powered sub. I have mine; Receiver to Niles amp, then to an outside volume box. The size of the box would not hold all the wires so I added another waterproof box and did all my speaker connections the ran the wire to the speakers.( The sub can be wired as a dual coil), then to the sub and the speakers. Just check the output of amp, you may want to size up or add additional if you can bridge yours. If you have more question please ask. [ THOMAS S Jun 10, 2017 ]
It's passive, it needs an amp. It's best if you order at least 2 of them, dedicate an amp to them, and place them against the side of the house or another flat surface. I have 2 of them on my patio, and they fill in the base of the other speakers. These are not home theater subs or PA subs, they are not going to give you huge bass, but they will fill in the low end and give you a nice balanced lower end. But they perform 10 times better against a wall, rather than just by themselves in free space. [ Marc Jun 10, 2017 ]
I have mine hooked to a dedicated sub amp. It is not powered. I am very pleased with the way it fills in the bottom on my front porch. [ Ronnie Jun 10, 2017 ]
It runs off of the speaker wire. I have Nuvo P3100 and I'm pleased with level of bass produced by Sub10. [ Grzegorz Jun 10, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. I'm sorry, no. Crutchfield does not have that accessory available. [ Kenny Mar 06, 2017 ] Staff
