Yay Clarity/Quality! Boo Break-up Point!
2003 Jeep Liberty
2003 Jeep Liberty. Pioneer DEH X2700U deck. Polk DB+ DB652 6-1/2" 2-way Speakers in back. I've been using these for a few months now and I've come to accept what they can do (with my current set up). What I immediately noticed: GOOD) Much better sound quality, clarity & imaging. BAD) Can't seem to push them as loud as my stocks and with the cleaner sound you lose that stock "boom." This last point really affected me the most and I miss that boom, but I've never not had stock so I had to adjust to it. I was deciding between these or just adding an amp and sub to my car but I'm happy I got these as the sound quality was a huge improvement. At lower volumes (<=30 notches on a Pioneer), you can get them sounding amazing with decent low (a richer/cleaner low but much less boomier than stock) and coupled with Polk's silky smooth tweeters...but it's still just not enough for me. Once you start rocking over 35-40+ they just can't handle the EQ and begin distorting. I need that loudness and that kick/punch. So I decided to just tune them well focusing on clarity and mid-bass and am going to invest in an amp and sub to fill out that low end, hopefully letting me push everything a little more too. Music taste: metal, screamo, dubstep, instrumental, 70s, 80s, 90s, pop, folk, indie, rock.
Pros: Clarity Quality (for those audiophiles out there) Imaging +/- 3db toggle on crossovers for tweeters Look nice
Cons: Can't seem to push them as hard as stocks
